- 'Catching Fire' Will 'Look And Feel' Different From 'Hunger Games'
Director Gary Ross has some 'not fully baked' ideas about how to change things up for sequel.

Photo: Lionsgate"The Hunger Games" owned the box office over the weekend, proving that fans of Suzanne Collins' best-selling series were excited to see how director Gary Ross and his A-list cast would turn her work into an eye-catching big-screen sensation.
With so much enthusiasm for part one of the trilogy, MTV News got some scoop about the next film in the franchise, "Catching Fire," which picks up where "THG" left off.
"The training was never, like, tough. It was intense, but it was fun. So I'm looking forward to the next bout of training," Jennifer Lawrence told MTV News about part two, adding that she will even have a very different look for it. She joked, "For the second one, I will have a beard."
(Warning: Minor spoilers ahead!)
With the latest round of the Hunger Games over and Katniss and her pal Peeta standing victorious, there's rebellion under way against the Capitol. But that's not the only upheaval. There's a special edition of the Hunger Games announced that will raise the stakes once again for the two friends and everyone they know.
Ross has some idea of what the next Games will look like. "The arena in the second book is tropical and the arena in [the first] book is forests, so that in and of itself will make for a different wardrobe on the part of the crew," he explained.
"In terms of the cinematic differences in the way I might shoot the movie, I shot this in a very specific way that's very different than most franchises are shot, obviously, and that had a lot to do with the urgency of what's going on and Katniss' point of view," he continued. "I have some ideas about how to do 'Catching Fire' slightly differently, but I don't want to share them yet. Not because I'm being evasive, but just because they're not fully baked. But yes, I think it will look and feel slightly different from the first."
What will certainly get amped up is Katniss' relationship with her escort, the elaborately costumed Effie Trinket. "You know, everything that I loved about Effie in the first place, which is that her stakes are completely tied up with Katniss' stakes, everything she does reflects on me, and unfortunately everything she does reflects very badly on me," Elizabeth Banks said of her relationship with her rebellious tribute. "So the relationship between Katniss and Effie just gets more frazzled, and I'm really excited to see how that plays out."

Переслать - The Wanted Keeping U.S. Debut Album 'Upbeat'
New single, 'Chasing the Sun,' is in 'same vein as 'Glad You Came,' ' Tom Parker tells MTV News.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway CallowayThe Wanted will officially drop their U.S. debut album next month. They've been busy in the studio working on tracks to follow up their smash single, "Glad You Came." And with so much enthusiasm coursing through America for boy bands, the guys are looking forward to launching this next phase in their careers.
"You know, I think from the start when we were in the U.K. we got our first single, which was 'All Time Low,' and it set itself up," Tom Parker told MTV News about the band's control over their music. "And we all agree on a certain sound and 'Glad You Came' was probably as [far as] we went in terms of difference in sound, but we all kind of come to an agreement to keep it upbeat, usually."
Parker adds that when they do stray from that sound it doesn't always work out. "We did a ballad and it wasn't that great, if I'm honest with you," he said. "We've got a new one called 'Chasing the Sun,' which is gonna go out to radio soon, so look out for it. It's in the same vein as 'Glad You Came'; it's upbeat."
Now that they are knee-deep in getting their U.S. debut together, Jay McGuiness explains that despite the size of the group, the guys make decisions pretty easily. "We're all pretty laid-back in coming to a decision that we all agree with," he said. "We're not gonna lie: Two years ago we were bitches to the record label, but now we've grown enough. We know what we're doing now. We're enjoying ourselves."
And that means that they are aiming to make something that will get American audiences pumped. Siva Kaneswaran added, "To be in the U.S. is amazing, but just as long as we go out there and be ourselves and the U.S. takes us as we are, we're just coming over here to have a laugh."
Переслать - 'Mad Men' Premiere: 11 Burning Questions Answered
The wait is finally over! What did we learn from the return of 'Mad Men'?
By Eric Ditzian
Aaron Stanton, Larisa Oleynik, Vincent Kartheiser and Alison Brie in "Mad Men" season five episode one
Photo: Michael Yarish/AMC"Mad Men," don't ever leave us again, OK?
Or at least not for a few more seasons. After a 500-day-plus hiatus, AMC's hit show returned Sunday night with the epic two-hour season-five premiere, filled with civil-rights strife, relationships of the sure-to-blow-up-in-epically-entertaining-yet-profoundly-troubling-fashion variety, and innumerable tiny moments that make creator Matthew Weiner's "Mad Men" arguably the finest show on TV.
The debut also addressed a slew of lingering questions we'd amassed since the previous season came to a close in October 2010. Check out 11 of the most burning questions we'd been dying to have answered:
When Does Season Five Take Place?
How gangster would it be if Weiner opened season five with a slow push in toward Don Draper, his hair oddly gray, his deep wrinkles coming into view, his dapper postwar mojo caked in decades of booze, fatty foods and what-has-become-of-this-once-proud-country disillusionment? What if the year were 1986 and Don were a gut-bellied 60 years old? However unlikely such a crazy time jump was, an open question headed into the new season was exactly when in time Weiner would restart his story. After all, over a year passed between seasons one and two, while barely a month elapsed from the end of season three to the start of season four. Now we know the answer: Season five begins in the summer of 1966.Did Don Really Marry Megan?
If you thought Don Draper would be content with an appropriately aged girlfriend, a quick trip to "Tomorrowland" (the title of the season-four finale) disabused viewers of such a notion. He ditched Dr. Faye Miller and took his young, seductive secretary Megan Calvet on a Disneyland trip with the kids. One sun-bleached California vacation later, Don had cruelly dumped Faye and asked Megan to marry him. Would it last? Could it last? Yes and yes. They're now married and living together (though, obviously, not so happily). Is Faye Totally Out of the Picture?
Poor Faye. She was smart and sexy and Don's intellectual equal. Alas, she was also his age. As far as we can tell, Faye is totally dunzo as far as Don's life is concerned. Could she come creeping back into the picture? There's an argument to be made that she's too self-possessed to slink back into his arms. But when on "Mad Men" has a woman ever been able to resist the charms of Don Draper? What Will Happen to Don When He Turns 40?
If you guessed "have a birthday party at his Manhattan loft thrown by his secretary-turned-wife during which she saucily sings a French love song to Don and his friends, leading the ad man to verbally bitch-slap his wife and his wife to strip down to her undies, clean their apartment and eventually make love to her hubby on the filthy carpet" — then congrats, you win!Wither Bert Cooper?
The firm's elder statesman seemingly quit the firm at the end of season four, following Don's public statement that he will no longer produce ads for tobacco companies. "It's been a pleasure," Bert announced on his way out the door. Turns out he didn't quit, and as season five begins, Bert's still puttering around the office with not much at all to do.Does Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce Survive?
Big Tobacco gave Don's ad agency the big kiss of death at the end of season four. They lost the Lucky Strike account, the very big deal keeping their fledging operation afloat. Could Sterling Cooper survive? Would Don have to go back to selling fur coats? Hardly. Thanks to the hard work of account exec Pete Campbell, Sterling Cooper continues to chug forward. They're still struggling, however, so expect the firm's finances to play a significant role this season.Does Joan Have Her Baby?
A back-alley hump session with a former flame left office manager Joan pregnant last season. She contemplated having an abortion, even traveling to a clinic, before deciding to keep the baby and pretend it's actually her husband's child. Did she go through with the ruse? Does her hubby still have no idea he's been cuckolded? Yep, the guy hasn't a clue. And Joan, the once-and-future sex kitten, is now spending most of her time applying cream to her baby's diaper rash, rather than scheming and pouting in the offices of Sterling Cooper. What's Up With Lane's Marriage?
The British finance whiz had a helluva rough time in season four. His wife left him, he went for a roll in the hay with a prostitute, then his father beat the piss out of him, sending him scurrying back across the pond to mend things with his wife. As season five begins, they're back together, but all is not well. After he picks up a stranger's wallet and calls up the guy's mistress, we witness Lane awkwardly attempting to engage in the '60s equivalent of phone sex. Nothing comes to pass, but we have a feeling Lane and his marriage are in for a ton of misery in the episodes to come.Is Sally Draper Still a Terror?
Shockingly, if only temporarily, the answer to this burning question is no. Last season, heartbreakingly, Sally was a nightmare of a little girl as she struggled to adjust to a life lived under the shaky guidance of divorced parents. Who would have thought that as she approached her teenage years, she'd tamp down on the tantrums and start becoming a well-behaved adolescent girl? Two hours into the new season, that's exactly what Sally is. Of course, we still haven't seen her in the company of her mom, Betty. There's plenty of time for the terror to return. Is Pete Campbell Still So Freaking Pete Campbell?
He fathered a child with his co-worker. He got married and cheated on his wife too many times to count. He's, generally speaking, a sniveling little turd viewers love to hate. But by the end of last season, Pete looked like he was turning things around, confessing his infidelities to his wife and turning into the agency's rainmaker. Maybe, just maybe, Pete was becoming — less annoyingly Pete. It's not going to last, it seems. Two hours into season five, he's already complaining that his wife sits around all day like a frumpy lump, and he has started taking later trains back from the city to the suburbs, because, well, take one guess why he's hanging around Manhattan after work. Pete Campbell, surprise surprise, will keep on being Pete Campbell. Can Peggy Olsen Sustain a Happy, Healthy Relationship?
Remember beatnik journalist Abe Drexler, the guy copywriter Peggy hated and then loved and then kinda love-hated or hate-loved? Things appear to be going well between the two of them. She's cranky as ever, but he's supportive of her and her work life, even as he surely continues to believe her job is everything that's wrong with '60s America. How long they remain a joyful couple is anybody's guess (ours is: not very long). For now, though, let's just be happy for Peggy. After all, she's the true hero at the heart of "Mad Men."What did you think of the "Mad Men" season premiere? Share your reviews in the comments!

MDNA superstar makes first UMF appearance as Swedish house producer cements status as an EDM standout with headlining gig.
By Akshay Bhansali
Avicii and Madonna perform at UMF on Saturday
Photo: Getty ImagesMIAMI — Swedish house music producer Avicii is currently one of the most popular artists working in music — yes, in music, not just his native EDM. And that star standing was only reinforced on Saturday night when he headlined a gig on day two of this year's Ultra Music Festival.
Avicii (born Tim Bergling) packed in every hit he could into his closing set on Ultra's Main Stage. "Fade into Darkness" had tens of thousands of Miami fans chanting back the song's catchy hook, as did his "Silhouettes" and Mark Knight's remix of Florence and the Machine's "You've Got the Love."
Every hand was stretched sky-high in a version of air piano when the DJ/producer's now-familiar chord progressions on the anthemic "Levels" filled the stage; they stayed up for his collabo with rising star Nicky Romero, "NicTim." Plus, the main-stage set looked as good as it sounded thanks to the work of visual designer Vello Virkhaus. Fireworks and sublime, smoky lighting textures added to the ambience.
But to really understand just how big of a deal Avicii's show was we have to take you back to the top of his set. As fans pushed closer to the stage — with virtually every square foot at UMF occupied, some resorted to climbing up into trees for a view — the set went dark and a taped segment featuring will.i.am, David Guetta, Afrojack, Carl Cox and Avicii came on. Each artist remarked on how popular dance music has become as Madonna's "Music" played in the background; the clip appeared to be an excerpt from the brand-new UMF film "Can You Feel It?"
Toward the end of the segment, Avicii praised Madonna for using EDM beats in her past work. It then cut to Madge extolling the power of live music. Just as it began to occur to the crowd that Madonna might actually be at Ultra, there she was, striding to the front of the stage.
"Hello, everybody, I've finally made it to Ultra Music Festival," she said. "I've been here in spirit for many years, but it's good to be here, finally. In my world, music and dance are not separate," she continued. "Electronic music has been a part of my career since I started, and I can honestly say, 'A DJ saved my life.'
"How many people in this crowd have seen Molly?" she then asked with a coy smile, making a reference to the drug MDMA, which not only had the crowd roaring back at the nod to rave culture, but also happens to be a thinly veiled wink at her new MDNA album title. "Are you ready to dance? Are you ready to sweat? Are you ready to make some noise, mother----ers?! This next DJ is amazing! Get ready for Avicii!"
With that, the lights came up on Avicii at the decks. Madonna then glided into the DJ booth to rock out with Bergling to her latest single, "Girl Gone Wild." She stayed for the duration of the song, smiling, singing along and laughing with Avicii.
Of course, Madonna has always been a friend of EDM. After success working with the likes of William Orbit, Paul Oakenfold and Stuart Price (a.k.a. Jacques Lu Cont), she paid homage again to the club culture she loves over the weekend. (She even teamed up again with Orbit on MDNA, due out on Monday.) Two things were crystal at the conclusion of Saturday night's festivities: EDM fans are ecstatic Madonna has come full circle in her career, and considering the pop queen's co-sign, Avicii's star has never been brighter.

Photo: Luis Duran/ othersidesoundsMIAMI — The Steve Aoki Experience hit Ice Palace in downtown Miami a little after 3:30 a.m. in the early Saturday hours, and the Dim Mak chairman didn't disappoint. He powered through a set loaded with new music and the madness that fans have come to love from his live shows.
In the lead-up to his Ultra Music Festival show slated for Sunday (March 25), Aoki treated the Ice Palace crowd to champagne showers and shots of Grey Goose. He also brought along some very special friends: Datsik, who'll hit the road this summer on Dim Mak Records' Deadmeat Tour; and Alan Strovich, who recently finished a dramatic dubstep remix of "Ladi Dadi." (One of Aoki's biggest tracks, his 2011 "Ladi" features singer Wynter Gordon.)
Many of the tracks Aoki played on Saturday were from Dim Mak's Miami Winter Music Conference sampler, which dropped 10 days ago on Beatport. Those included the banging new gems "Dance" from Spencer & Hill and Dirtyloud; "Turn Up the Volume" with Joachim Garraud and Autoerotique; and Aoki's smash tag-team with Tiësto on "Tornado."
It was a crazy show to say the least. And with his date on the Main Stage at Ultra just hours away, it proved to be an exciting prelude to what we predict will be one of the most impressive stage dives at UMF.

The poolside Mau5trap party kicked off Saturday night with assists from Feed Me, Moguai, Steve Duda and Frederik.

deadmau5 performs at Fontainebleau in Miami on Saturday
Photo: Sam Hendrick/ MTV NewsMIAMI — Another day, another party. A slightly sunburned MTV News crew hit the highly anticipated Mau5trap pool party at the Fontainebleau on Saturday night, where we found Mau5heads had come out in full force to support the boss himself, deadmau5, and his cohorts during a poolside set.
Don't be fooled, however, it's Miami Music Week and this wasn't your parents' pool party: Fontainebleau boasts a pool deck that would make most of your favorite Vegas hotspots look like the neighborhood YMCA. Add a DJ booth inlaid within a colossal LED wall, and you've set the scene for the Mau5trap Records party headlined by deadmau5, with support from labelmates Feed Me, Moguai, Steve Duda and Frederik.
After Frederik and Duda started strong, warming up the crowd for Moguai, the German producer/DJ introduced himself with his remix of Fatboy Slim's "Ya Mama" and an electro rendition of the Nena classic "99 Red Balloons." Keeping consistent with the heavy synths of the signature Mau5trap sound, Moguai passed the torch to Feed Me, who continued to bring up the energy of the evening. The U.K. outfit mellowed out dirty riffs of songs like "Green Bottle" with the soothing vocals of Lindsay on "Embers." In fact, one fan was so moved by Feed Me's transition that he started a solo splash-fight in the football field-size pool ... perhaps in search of deeper enlightenment?
After a proper warm-up, it seemed only fitting that deadmau5 would take the stage to end the night with a bang. But from the start, it seemed clear he had another agenda. The man born Joel Zimmerman followed a long intro of experimental drum loops with a Mau5y version of Milo's "Dr. Pressure" and 2 Live Crew's "Shake That Ass Bitch," signaling he wouldn't be mixing his typical set. Instead, for the next hour, he took the audience on a tour of the inner workings of his creative mind and treated them to a showcase of his Ableton mastery.
Those who came to rage with the mau5 may have been left staring at a half-full bottle of Grey Goose, but judging from the vibe of Zimmerman's set (and recent style postings on his SoundCloud page), the DJ/producer is obviously in a different place than he was in his "Ghosts n Stuff" days (although he did play the track for partygoers at the end of the night).

'She is going to be on top of the celebrity charts for a few years now,' one expert tells MTV News.
By Kevin P. Sullivan
Jennifer Lawrence
Photo: Getty ImagesEarning $19.8 million at midnight screenings and predictions of a $125 million weekend for "The Hunger Games" have essentially secured a future for the franchise, so now one of the more interesting questions coming out of the opening is: What does this mean for Jennifer Lawrence?
As the star of "The Hunger Games," Lawrence will inevitably be one of the people given credit for its huge success and, from there, move into the realm of "bankable" actresses. While headlining a huge blockbuster certainly helps bolster an actress' career prospects and offers for future projects, it will be Lawrence's incredible performance as Katniss Everdeen that secures her new status as a Hollywood A-lister and bona fide star.
With the now-guaranteed success of "The Hunger Games" under her belt, Lawrence's next project choices are going to be the ones that decide what kind of star she is, according to David Poland of Movie City News.
"She is going to be on top of the celebrity charts for a few years now, but it's easy to piss that away with a few bad choices," he said. "My sense is that she wants to be stimulated and not just take the money and run. So she could end up getting dozens of low-budget, high-quality films made or do 'one for them, one for me' or try to be the first Bond villainess. Doors are open. But she's young, and her identity is still forming."
Beginning that identity formation with "The Hunger Games" is a pretty solid start. Who didn't get goose bumps during the trailer when Lawrence broke away from the crowd at the Reaping to volunteer herself for the Games? "I volunteer! I volunteer as tribute." It's an incredibly memorable moment, and its resonance stems directly from how emotionally believable Lawrence is. For as contentious as her casting was, Lawrence silenced critics with two sentences.
At its core, "The Hunger Games" is a crowd-pleaser. It follows a strong female character, is full of action and arguably ends with the best possible outcome. There's a reason so many people of different demographics love it. As the hero of the story, Lawrence automatically becomes the person people associate the quality of the film with, and there's a good reason for that.
It's important to remember that when we're talking about Jennifer Lawrence, we're talking about "Academy Award nominee Jennifer Lawrence," an honor she earned for a brutal role in "Winter's Bone."
There was never a question that Lawrence could act, and in the actual film of "The Hunger Games," she grounds a fantastical premise with a relatable and deeply realistic performance that goes beyond the usual requirements of a tentpole movie. Even though we're barely three months into 2012, based solely on the quality of her performance, Oscar consideration for Lawrence isn't entirely out of the question: She's that good.
With "The Hunger Games," Jennifer Lawrence has left behind the realm of "indie cred" and has entered rarified air: a highly bankable, capital A actor.

Rapper's fifth LP, F.I.V.E., could be his last album with Interscope.
By Rob Markman, with reporting by Felicia 'The Poetess' MorrisGame only has one LP left on his Interscope contract, and after he drops the follow-up to 2011's The R.E.D. Album, the platinum-selling Compton rapper will contemplate his musical independence.
"Independent. That seems like a really, really good move where I can capitalize off of all the finances being made off of my music for once. But, I don't know, I kinda like having a lot of help, a lot of assistance from a big label," Game told MTV News on Thursday. "I don't know, maybe we'll have a meeting about a lot of money or I'll be talking to my conscience."
Earlier this month, Game announced his new album title, F.I.V.E., to XXLMag.com, but it may be some time before it hits shelves. "I haven't even started working on it yet. I first came up with the album title, which is F.I.V.E., and then came up with its acronym, which is Fear Is Victory's Evolution," he explained to MTV News. "It's got a good concept, and once the budget is open on that I'll get to rolling."
Game, who was the subject of Thursday night's "Behind the Music" on VH1, is reluctant to offer up anything resembling a release date due to the multiple push-backs that he's experienced with The R.E.D. Album. "You what I learned from this last album is to never give anybody a date to anything; I'll let the label do that when it's time," he said.
On Wednesday, Game released his "The City" video with Kendrick Lamar. But it looks like that will be the last single he drops off of The R.E.D. Album. "Personally I'd like to just move on and get the budget open for my fifth album, which is something I don't think Interscope is too much in a rush to do, being that it's my last contractual, obligated album on the label," he said. "I would love to just keep it rolling."

Photo: David Rojas/ FilmMagicMIAMI — Ultra Music Festival hit every note — delivering a spectacular splash into this weekend's EDM takeover of Miami's Bayfront Park. Massive crowds, including fans of all ages and from every part of the world, amassed to make for a remarkable opening show.
The main stage for Ultra's day one Friday included an all-star list of talent including Afrojack, Skrillex and Tiësto, who all delivered spectacular visual elements and new music and exploited Ultra's new tricks to take the crowd — and perhaps EDM in the United States — to new heights for 2012.
Future EDM hall-of-famer Tiësto closed the night with a thunderous roar from the crowd and a sensational fireworks show that smacked an exclamation mark on the opening day. He previewed a number of new tracks from his upcoming album, Club Life: Volume 2 -Miami, including his fired-up remix of Coldplay's "Paradise" and the still-unreleased "Chasing Summers" and fittingly closed his set with "Maximal Crazy," perfectly capturing the energy of the crowd.
Leading into his set was MTV's #1 EDM Artist of 2011, Skrillex, who maximized the potential of Ultra's main stage, specifically the giant LED screens that echoed the futuristic sounds of his set. Especially stunning were the images of animated dancing robots that matched every bass-crunching riff of Skrill's signature sound.
Afrojack brought along a new friend, experienced hype man Lil Jon, who jumped along the top of the DJ booth for most of the set and fired up the crowd, professing his love for EDM and Miami along the way. Afrojack also brought along some new music, but laced his set with a collection of his fan favorites, starting his show with "Bangduck" and integrating "Take Over Control" and "Pon de Floor."
The festival's eight stages brought many highlights, even from the smallest stages. The Bao Dome, which looked like half an exoskeleton of Disney World's Epcot Ball, jammed with Spencer & Hill, Swanky Tunes and many other talented artists.
At the Carl Cox & Friends tent, Richie Hawtin incited hundreds of party-goers who couldn't fit inside the tent to dance in groups along Biscayne Boulevard, which was closed to vehicles during the festival.
With lofty goals for Ultra in the wake of EDM's huge collective progress in 2011, organizers and artists appeared particularly inspired to blow away new fans and loyalists alike.

EDM trio kick off explosive two-day fest at Miami Music Week with help from heavy-hitting openers like Thomas Gold and Calvin Harris.
By Akshay Bhansali
Swedish House Mafia at Miami Music Week
Photo: Brian Phares/ MTV NewsMIAMI — On Friday, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello — the trio also known as Swedish House Mafia — gave fans at Miami Music Week an event to remember. Their two-hour-plus spectacle at Grand Central Park featured stadium-style house music with a backdrop of pyrotechnics and fireworks.
Add to that the dazzling graphics bouncing off five enormous LED screens, and it was clear that SHM had accomplished an impressive high mark that won't be easy match on Saturday night (March 24), when the event kicks off its second day. MTV News caught up with the Swedes just before their set and they talked to us about the long road to their massively successful Masquerade Motel mini-festival.
"We've done it again," Angello raved. "For [us], to go out there and enjoy our own party, which is something like this [in scale], it's amazing to be here." Last year's tented, single-day Masquerade party on South Beach "was amazing," Angello added, "And the year before that was amazing; we've come a very long way."
Lined with palm trees, tall office buildings and residential apartments, Grand Central Park had the vibe of being isolated from the rest of Miami, and that made a party filled with 10,000 SHM fans feel intimate. But before the trio even took the stage, a spectacular lineup of opening acts did more than warm up the crowd. Asked about the all-stars preceding them, Seb, Ax and Steve beamed with pride.
"We have NO_ID," Axwell said of the Dutch duo newly signed to his Axtone Records imprint. "We just think that they have a really interesting sound, which is kind of like chunky-groovy-sexy house, so it complements what we are doing very well. Otto Knows is also here."
"[Otto is] a young kid from Sweden, one of my really close friends," Ingrosso chimed in. "He's like my little brother. We are starting to make music and he just released his first single ever."
"Thomas Gold is here," Axwell added. "Alesso, a guy called Calvin Harris."
"Yeah, I don't know if you know him," Ingrosso chuckled with a knowing nod to Harris' accolades on the EDM scene and, most recently, for his work with Rihanna.
"Yeah, he's another guy we found," Angello joked.
"No, Rihanna found him!" Axwell laughed. "He's always been very interesting and doing creative stuff."
By the time the Swedes took their positions behind the decks, it was clear 10,000 screaming fans were ready to take the party to the next level. Just as they've done on their last two Stateside Masquerades, they launched into the organ-laden edit of Ax & Sebastian's "Together"; they followed that with their latest hit single, "Greyhound," marking the song's drop with a fireworks display.
What followed was a clever series of mixes of some of the most popular anthems of the past six months. Among them were Axwell's edit of Michael Calfan's "Resurrection" mixed into Fedde Le Grand's remix of "Paradise," and "Antidote," which was given a pyro burst. The crowd went mental when Dirty South and Usual Suspects' "Walking Alone" was blended perfectly with SHM's "Miami 2 Ibiza."
"That's right, Miami, it is straight appreciation for 'Miami 2 Ibiza,' " Ax told the crowd. "We realize there are a lot of parties this week and we definitely feel honored that you've come to us this week!"
SHM also treated fans to set staples, including "Troll"; Nari & Milani's "Atom"; Ingrosso, Alesso and Ryan Tedder's "Calling (Lose My Mind)"; Deniz Koyu's remix of "Dangerous"; and SHM's remix of Coldplay's "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall."
"Are you making new friends?" Axwell asked the partygoers. "Maybe some from the opposite gender? Maybe falling in love? For sure, we are falling in love. The Swedish House Mafia loves you guys. Thank you for coming down!"
But one of the most unexpected gems of the night came at the very end, when fans got to hear a cook-up Axwell told MTV News in our pre-set chat that he couldn't wait to play: The SHM/Laidback Luke collabo "Leave the World Behind" (featuring Deborah Cox) was merged with Knife Party's remix of Porter Robinson's "Unison." That mashup was received with a roar from the crowd as the high-energy dance party became another one for the books.
NO_ID, Third Party and AN21 join Alesso and Calvin Harris as openers for Swedish House Mafia on the second (and final) day of the Masquerade Motel on Saturday (March 24).

'It's the story of someone growing up, trying to figure out who he is,' MC tells Mixtape Daily of his new mixtape.

Real Spit: How do you follow up a #1 independent album and a sold-out tour? If you're Mac Miller, you treat your fans to a free mixtape.
On Friday (March 23) the Pittsburgh spitter dropped Macadelic, a trippy ride through the psyche of a fun-loving MC who is adept at expressing his innermost feelings.
"It's like the story of someone who is growing up, trying to figure out who he is and trying to figure out what he's supposed to do in the world and how he's gonna change it," Mac told Mixtape Daily. "I think it's a great piece because it's a great part of my career, it's a great time right now and I feel like I been making mixtapes for five years, so this one is very special to me."
Over the thudding, bass-rattling sound bed of "Amnesia," Mac cautiously drowns his crumbling love life in a cloudy codeine cup. "This is real girl, don't be scared, it's only fair/ I warn you love's a drug that can kill you," he hazily raps.
The love-as-a-drug theme continues on "Vitamins." Over a dreamy Big Jerm beat, Mac poetically recalls an addictive lovemaking session that leaves him all out of sorts in the aftermath. Then with foggy vocals, Miller seeks comfort for his growing pains on "Clarity."
"It's a lot different from anything I've ever done," Mac told MTV News backstage at the mtvU Woodies earlier this month. "In my past projects, I always thought about them a lot, like, 'Where are the party jams? Where are the jams that are fun?' "
Apparently Mac's days aren't always soundtracked by "Donald Trump" and "Party on Fifth Ave." Throughout the tape the Blue Slide Park rapper continually contemplates his life's purpose in the face of his growing fame. "Sometimes I wonder who the f--- I am," Mac rhymes at the start of "The Question."
The self-reflecting tune gets quite the boost from Young Money boss Lil Wayne, who makes a surprise appearance at the end of the track. Weezy spits a free-associative verse in which he affectionately shouts out his new machine gun, which he strangely compares to a newborn baby.
Macadelic isn't completely pensive, though; there is the Cam'ron-assisted "Ignorant," which has Miller rapping about his gold Rolex and weed habits alongside the Dipset captain. "Lucky Ass Bitch" is another winner, thanks to producer Lex Luger's kinetic bounce and Juicy J's classic vocal contribution. On "Desperado," Mac flexes his MC muscle, with the 20-year-old rhyme-slinger spitting some of his best rhymes over ID Labs' Wild West-inspired production. In short, Macadelic has something for everyone.
"I was trying to make a complete project, but on this project, all I wanted to do is just say what was on my mind," he said. "I just worried about saying what I wanted to say, and I felt like there were a lot of things that I wanted to get off my chest, and this mixtape was the way to do it."
Joints to Check For:
"Vitamins": "The concept is that this drug is actually love. It's a drug that I'm taking, so all the emotions and the feelings that are coming from this said drug are actually coming from love."
"Ignorant": "I was in Harlem because I'm a huge Big L fan. And Cam hit me, he saw me Instagramming pictures, he said, 'What are you doin' in Harlem?' I said, 'Chillin'.' And he said 'Alright, I'm about to have someone come get you.' So I went over to his crib, we got in the studio."

Переслать - Kim Kardashian Hardly First Celeb To Be Flour-Bombed
Ryan Seacrest, Lindsay Lohan are among other public figures who have been punk'd in public.
By Kara Warner
Kim Kardashian
Photo: Tommaso Boddi/ WireImageNot surprisingly, there has been much ado over the flour-bombing of Kim Kardashian Thursday night at the West Hollywood launch of her new fragrance line, True Reflection. Kardashian is, after all, a generator of countless news headlines — sometimes one of the reality star's generic comments on Twitter is enough to warrant a news item — and the fact that she was attacked with a flour bomb during a red-carpet appearance is certainly newsworthy.
Kardashian is not the first celeb to fall victim to a flour bomb, however. The recent incident brings to mind several others that have involved a few of our favorite public figures taking some flour and other seemingly harmless household items to the face.
Ryan Seacrest The most recent "bombing" incident involved funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen and Ryan Seacrest, Kardashian's E! colleague. Cohen made headlines with his heavily publicized appearance at the Oscars in character as Admiral General Aladeen of his upcoming movie "The Dictator"; he then made waves around the world when he greeted Seacrest for an interview by tossing "ashes" (which turned out to be Bisquick) all over the host.
Bob Dylan Although the beloved rock icon took home Album of the Year for his Time Out of Mind at the 40th Annual Grammy Awards in 1998, the moment that everybody remembers from that night came during Dylan's performance of "Love Sick," when a shirtless man named Michael Portnoy stormed the stage and began . The rocker definitely took notice of the stranger with the words "Soy Bomb" written across his chest, but he barely batted an eye before security came out to remove him.
Lindsay Lohan Lindsay Lohan was the unfortunate victim of a "bombing" by animal-rights activists in 2008. She and then-girlfriend Samantha Ronson were outside a Paris nightclub when three activists used flour to express their distaste for Lohan's fur stole. Lohan has a history with PETA, having been named to their Worst Dressed List in the past.
Tom Cruise During one of his many red-carpet appearances in 2005 for "War of the Worlds," Cruise was surprised by a jokester posing as a journalist who attempted to prank Cruise with a trick microphone that squirted water in the action star's face. Cruise took the man to task for the incident. "Do you like thinking less of people, is that it?" Cruise asked, preventing the man from fleeing the scene by reaching across the metal barrier and holding his arm. "Don't run away," he said. "That's incredibly rude. I'm here giving you an interview and you do that ... it's incredibly rude."
Various Politicians There are almost too many victims to name at this point, but more than a few politicians have been victims of glitter bombs, acts of protest by activists meant to bring awareness to gay rights. The list of victims includes Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Michele Bachmann. Glitter-bombers beware, though: The act carries possible jail time and a hefty fine for those who get caught.
Переслать - 'American Idol' Castoff Erika Van Pelt 'Confused' By Judges' Advice
'I'll be honest, I felt there was a lot of contradiction,' Van Pelt tells MTV News after her elimination.
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Kelly Marino
Erika Van Pelt
Photo: MTV NewsTo just about anyone who tuned in to this week's "American Idol," Erika Van Pelt's exit was a shocker, to say the very least, especially since her performance of "New York State of Mind" was one of the highlights. But also because, you know, Heejun Han is still on the show.
Rather than using her three minutes to goof off, Van Pelt genuinely seemed determine to put her best foot forward on Wednesday night, whether it was listening to "Idol" judges' previous advice to minimize her onstage movements or taking designer Tommy Hilfiger's hairstyling tips to heart. Oh, and then she delivered a sultry, soulful version of the Joel classic, all of which seemed to guarantee she'd be safe ... for at least another week.
But, as it turns out, that wasn't the case, and on Thursday night's results show, it was Van Pelt who was sent packing. And immediately after her ouster, let's just say Van Pelt was still trying to figure out what went wrong — though she's got a pretty good idea of where to start.
"I felt confused every week, I'll be honest," she told MTV News. "I felt there was a lot of contradiction, and as an artist and someone who takes their singing very seriously, it's hard for me to take critique of my work, period, and then when you feel like you sorta have people telling you one thing and then telling you something completely different the week after, it's hard.
"Because constructive criticism to me is something I can go home, work on, fix and come back and say, 'Here, I fixed it.' I feel what happened to me in this competition was I would take all the advice, I'd work on things, I'd bring something different to the table, and they'd tell me the complete opposite. It's been really hard for me, I can admit that."
And to that end, when asked which judge or mentor actually provided her with the best guidance, Van Pelt took a diplomatic pause and then answered rather truthfully: none of them.
"This might sound really weird, but I feel like my fellow contestants taught me the most," she said. "We have this inner-working where we all help each other, we all offer up our advice ... it's all about throwing these ideas out and never telling someone what they should do; it's about giving them suggestions."
Of course, she did add that, ultimately, her "Idol" exit was of her own doing. "I will never blame anyone for misleading me in any way, shape or form; I'm a grown woman," she said. And she's grateful for all the opportunities the show has provided for her, chief among them being that, for a while at least, she doesn't have to go back to her day job as a wedding DJ.
"I don't think I'll be doing any DJ'ing for a while," she laughed. "To be totally honest, I need to sleep!"

Переслать - L'Arc En Ciel's Madison Square Garden Show Is A 'Turning Point'
Rock band will become first Japanese act to headline MSG on Sunday, which frontman Hyde calls 'highlight' of a 20-year career.
By James Montgomery
Hyde of L'arc en Ciel
Photo: MTV NewsOn Sunday, Japanese art-rock act L'Arc en Ciel — French for "the rainbow," naturally — will make history when they become the first band from their homeland to headline a show at New York's iconic Madison Square Garden.
The show, part of the band's 20th anniversary world tour, was originally scheduled for the much smaller Theater at MSG, but due to overwhelming demand from their long-suffering Stateside fans — L'Arc have played just one North American show in their two decades of existence, a 2004 gig at an Otaku convention in Baltimore — organizers moved it to the venerable Garden arena. And for a band that has had approximately zero promotion here in the U.S., it is understandably a very big deal, as frontman Hyde told MTV News (via translator) on Friday (March 23).
"This is huge for our band to perform at the world-famous Madison Square Garden, so I want to make sure we give you the very best show for the American audience. ... I want to take the very best of everything we've done in Japan and put it in this show," Hyde said. "It's so hard for a Japanese act to be successful in America, but we were given this opportunity, so that means there is a possibility for us to break in the American market. I definitely feel lucky to be here after 20 years as a band."
And for Hyde, who grew up listening to "L.A. metal ... Guns N' Roses and Mötley Crüe," the opportunity to take the stage at the World's Most Famous Arena has an even bigger significance. Mostly because, when L'Arc first started 20 years ago in Osaka, Hyde never thought he'd be singing before 19,000 folks in New York City. He wasn't even sure he'd ever make it to Tokyo.
"This world tour is definitely one of the highlights of our career. It ranks at the top of all the highlights, but amongst it all, this Madison Square Garden performance is such a turning point in our career, so we look forward to it," he said. "It's very hard to predict what's next for L'Arc en Ciel, and for us, it's almost a miracle we've lasted this long. When we first started, I was just happy to be able to eat. Our goal back then was to be #1 in Osaka so that people in Tokyo could hear about us."
Luckily, he and the band will have a few days after the show to soak up the New York City experience. Of course, thanks to the warm weather, there's one aspect of the city he's sadly already missed out on.
"We're going to be here in New York for a week, and I was looking forward to the steam coming up from the streets, but I haven't seen that yet, what happened to that?" he laughed of the blasts of warm air that often spring up from subway grates. "Also, I watched a lot of Billy Joel videos growing up, and I would love to see some of the scenes from those videos."

Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show"
Photo: Warner Bros.Justin Bieber is standing behind his girl. Carly Rae Jepsen made her first major U.S. talk-show appearance on Friday's (March 23) "Ellen DeGeneres Show," and she brought quite the surprise with her: Bieber himself and an exclusive preview of his song "Boyfriend."
Ellen began the segment attempting to read an intro for Jepsen, the 26-year-old Canadian singer who won the hearts of pop enthusiasts with her catchy, upbeat single "Call Me Maybe" but was interrupted by an eruption of screaming girls who caught sight of a black-and-yellow-clad Justin Bieber. The young heartthrob took the opportunity to introduce Jepsen, whom he recently signed to his Schoolboy Records label. He had been making a public Twitter bid to Ellen to have his new artist appear on her daytime show.
Jepsen, who calls her style "folky pop," took to the stage in a long, bohemian dress. Jepsen sang her hit song, currently at #8 on the iTunes singles chart alongside the Wanted and Katy Perry. Her performance was applauded by Ellen and topped off with a giant hug from her new mentor.
During an interview with Ellen, Bieber recalled hearing Jepsen's track on the radio in Canada and jumping on YouTube to find out more about the "talented" singer. After learning of her local success, Bieber realized she was unsigned in the U.S. and immediately decided to change that.
Life has certainly taken a 180-degree turn for Jepsen in the last two months. "I had never branched outside of Canada, and I didn't know how to do that, and then one miraculous day, Justin called," Jepsen told Ellen. "It seemed too good to be true." There is also talk of a possible collaboration with Bieber.
Bieber is taking his new A&R role very seriously, promoting Jepsen in any way possible, including dropping a video spoof of "Call Me Maybe" featuring famous friends Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and Carlos Pena Jr. of Big Time Rush.

WWE superstar gives props to band's 'in-your-face, time-to-fight music.' Voting in round two ends Sunday at midnight!
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Rob MarkmanVoting in the second-round of MTV's Musical March Madness is entering the home stretch and, well, it's not looking good for Metallica. After disposing of fellow titans Guns N' Roses in round one, James Hetfield and company currently trail upset-minded Sum 41 by an "Unforgiven"-size margin ... and appear headed for the void.
Of course, there's still plenty of time to change things — voting in all second-round matchups closes Sunday at midnight ET — and, as luck would have it, Metallica are getting support from a rather unlikely source: WWE superstar John Cena, who would like to strongly encourage you to vote for his favorite band. And we mean strongly.
"If you don't vote Metallica strong, you ain't been around music. They're my vote to take it," Cena told MTV News. "Because, like I say, I use music for energy. I'm involved in a lot of physical activity, a lot of times when you're tired, you need to find energy from somewhere, and music evokes emotion. And Metallica, I don't care who you are, they play 'Enter Sandman' at Yankee Stadium, and it's a wrap."
So no offense to Sum 41, but for Cena, there's nothing quite like the surge of "Sandman." And while he's probably got his mind on other things (like his year-in-the-making match with the Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII), he'll be pulling for Metallica to make a comeback and advance to the Sweet 16. Why?
Vote for your favorite band, discuss and share on Facebook and Twitter in the MTV Musical March Madness interactive bracket!"[Their music] transcends race, creed, color, sex, age; it's just hard-hitting, in-your-face, time-to-fight music," he snarled. "That's my type of stuff right there."
And who's man enough to disagree with that?
MTV's 2012 Musical March Madness tournament has reached the second round. Voting runs until midnight ET on Sunday, March 25, and winners are determined by fan votes, so if your favorite act is still alive, it'll be up to you to guide them to glory. You can rally the troops on Twitter using the hashtag #MMM or by downloading one of our custom badges — but get ready, it only gets more difficult from here on out.

Three 'HG' webmasters break down film adaptation for MTV News.
By Kara Warner
Josh Hutcherson in "The Hunger Games"
Photo: LionsgateDid you know that "The Hunger Games" is finally out in theaters? That's a rhetorical question — of course you did!
We've all been following the hugely anticipated film since the beginning, and now we can bask in the glow of its predicted success and the general delight of fans everywhere, not to mention the very positive reviews.
Now, MTV News turns to our most trusted "Hunger Games" experts to find out what they think about the adaptation:
Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss
"If anyone had any lingering doubts about whether our Oscar-nominated leading lady could do the role of Katniss Everdeen justice, those doubts took an arrow to the heart. There were a lot of standout moments in her performance — her soon to be iconic 'I volunteer!,' her emotional breakdown after the loss of Rue — but for me, the highest mark of Jen's understanding of Katniss came at the end when (spoiler) she and fellow tribute Peeta are about to commit a double suicide on live TV. In that scene, everything we know about Katniss — her strength, her desire to protect the people she loves, her bravery and the first flicker of rebellion — show through. Unlike the lovelorn Peeta, who uses his final moments of life to appreciate the girl he loves, Katniss has eyes only for the Capitol, looking not at Peeta, but into one of the invisible cameras. This isn't about love, it's about survival, and Jen gets that." — Shylah Addante, Down With the Capitol"Jennifer was fabulous! Every moment she was onscreen, which was a lot, was just phenomenal. She did a great job of showing how much Katniss cared about her family but was emotionally blank to everyone else." — Jessica McKenna, The Hob
"Jennifer as Katniss is beyond amazing. The depth in which she portrayed Katniss is unlike anything I've seen before. It was all about the subtle things Jennifer would do that made the biggest impact. Whether it was Jennifer visibly trembling right before the arena, getting this panicked look in her eyes when Prim's name is called at the Reaping, her grief at the death of Rue or her look of defiance when giving the three-fingered salute to the people of District 11, I found myself feeling how Katniss must be feeling and left utterly speechless at Jennifer's portrayal of this character. I've said it before, but I think it's definitely worth saying again: Although this fandom doesn't like to identify itself with teams, if I did have to pick, I would definitely be Team Katniss all the way." — Sheila Cordero, HG Girl on Fire
Josh Hutcherson as Peeta
"Insofar as Jen is Katniss, Josh Hutcherson is Peeta. I believed everything he did was motivated by his character's signature pure-of-heart naiveté. Josh ensured that Peeta wore his heart of his sleeve but was careful to ensure that he didn't cross into clichéd romance territory. Scenes like the rooftop and the cave, where he had to play soft to Katniss' hard edge, could have easily been awkward or out of pace with the rest of the film, but Josh gave Peeta a backbone that gave his character's romanticism a solid foundation." — Addante"From the first time we see Josh onscreen, I was convinced I was looking at Peeta. He nailed Peeta's quiet strength and kindness." — McKenna
"Over the course of the last several months, I've become increasingly impressed with what I have seen of Josh Hutcherson and truly believe he does embody many of the characteristics of Peeta. Watching him bring this character to life, I can honestly say Josh is an outstanding actor. He brought me to tears as he fought back the tears while he was being driven away from District 12 and heading toward the Capitol train. During Peeta's interview with Caesar Flickerman, I found myself rooting for this charming guy who you couldn't help but smile back at, then internally going 'Awww' when he admits his crush is the girl he came to the Games with. But perhaps what I loved the most about Josh as Peeta was the silent communication he had with Katniss. Whether it was him rubbing medicine on Katniss' cut, putting a hand on her cheek or a simple touch of her braid, I couldn't help but find myself falling for the boy with the bread." — Cordero
The Supporting Players
"Wes Bentley's portrayal of Head Gamemaker Seneca Crane gave incredible context to the Games and their entertainment value in Panem. He, by far, had my favorite scene in the film when his character realizes that he's gone from young hotshot TV producer to a dead man — proof positive that it's not just the tributes playing for their lives in Panem." — Addante"Stanley Tucci was a scene-stealer as Caesar. He expertly jumped from a sympathetic, hard-hitting, Barbara Walters-esque interviewer to an über-hyper, Richard Dawson-ish game-show host and back again second by second." — McKenna
"For me, the biggest and most pleasant surprise of all was Willow Shields as Prim. Her scenes with Katniss at home and during the reaping just break my heart. She displayed a depth to her character that is rare in an actor as young as she is. I really felt her fear when her name was called and then her agony as she is carried away by Gale once Katniss volunteers. Willow amazed me." — Cordero
Page-to-Screen Adaptation
"One-hundred percent, this is the best page-to-screen adaption of a film I've seen. It gave the perfect balance of what longtime fans of the series would be excited for, but knew where to trim things down to make the movie work. The best example of this is the infamous cave scene, which, in the book, stretches on for page after glorious page of Katniss and Peeta kissing, enjoying sponsor gifts, and seducing the nation into believing their love story. In the movie, however, we get one kiss and a couple very intense moments of connection from the star-crossed lovers, and that's all we needed. Had Gary Ross pulled an 'Eclipse' and stretched out every lingering glance and hung onto each word of dialogue, I have no doubt that it would have felt out of place and cheesy in a movie that, otherwise, is very pragmatic and real." — Addante"The overall adaptation worked really well. Like many fans, I wasn't thrilled with some of the finer points that were left out of the screenplay. However, it all worked in the end and didn't really miss anything that was cut. Plus, the scenes they created for the movie with President Snow and the Gamemakers really helped round out the story and provide additional insights to viewers." — McKenna
"I think that Gary Ross and [author] Suzanne Collins did a wonderful job of adapting this book into a movie. Their use of Caesar Flickerman and Claudius Templesmith as announcers and commentators about the games was brilliant and a really smart, creative way to bring some of the backstory and terminology into the movie. I loved the added scenes between President Snow and Seneca Crane because it helped to lay the foundation of how Katniss ultimately becomes the symbol that sparks the rebellion and will help people who haven't read the books understand that there is more to this story than just a young girl's survival in the Games. I also enjoyed some of the changes they made to Peeta's portrayal in the movie. I loved that Peeta was not portrayed as helpless in the final battle with Cato. It really showed him to be more of Katniss' equal and not someone she is continually trying to save." — Cordero

The show is set to premier March 25 at 11:30 p.m. ET during Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block. The show centers primarily on OF de facto leader Tyler, the Creator, Jasper Dolphin, Taco and Lionel Boyce. Fans can expect to see familiar characters like Thurnis Haley, the golf-loving whack job that Tyler played to promote his 2011 Goblin album.

Photo: Barry King/ FilmMagicStevie Ryan may make fun of Justin Bieber on her new VH1 show "Stevie TV," but the actress and the pop star actually have something cool in common: They were both discovered on YouTube.
Ryan began her career impersonating celebrities and creating her own characters on her YouTube channel and instantly became an Internet star. Now the 26-year-old comedian gets to do her routines on VH1, portraying some of today's biggest celebs and reality TV stars.
"It's just a female's perspective on pop culture, really, at least that's the way I think about it," Ryan told MTV News on Tuesday. "It's really just kind of making fun of pop culture, what's happening in it, just making fun of these celebrities that are rewarded for bad behavior."
So far on "Stevie TV," Ryan has created a music video that mocks Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)," gotten into character as Lady Gaga and done some cross-dressing to get into one of her favorite roles, Justin Bieber.
Ryan explained that Bieber has been the most fun to play "because I always tell everybody how guys and girls always like me when I'm Justin Bieber. ... Girls are like, 'You're so cute, like, are you really a girl?' And then guys are like, 'I don't know what it is, but you're really hot.' But I really like playing everybody," she laughed.
And though she may poke fun at celebrities, Ryan said she's really a fan of most of the stars ... except maybe one.
"I just thought, 'What a great way to kind of show that this is what the younger generation is growing up with, that who little girls like, is Kim Kardashian,' " Ryan said. "It's just observing these weird behaviors and finding a place for them that makes sense because you can always make fun of Kim Kardashian — she has a big butt, she made a sex tape — but at the same time you have to step back and look at the big picture; people are actually wanting to be like this."
As for future episodes, Ryan really wants to impersonate a certain Young Money rapper. "I would like to do Nicki Minaj," Ryan revealed. "There's nothing that I want to make fun of about her, because I'm obsessed with her and I really, really love her."
Asked if she's gotten any backlash yet for the sometimes harsh jokes on her show, Ryan said she hasn't, but she's ready if it comes her way.
"It hasn't happened before and I'd give a flying f--- about what any of them have to say," Ryan said. "Because I'm just doing my job just like they are and so whatever, if anyone has anything to say, bring it!"

Fergie of Black Eyed Peas
Photo: MTV NewsThe Black Eyed Peas have certainly been enjoying their much-deserved break. Back in November, BEP announced they were going on an indefinite hiatus following three years on the road in support of their albums The Beginning and The E.N.D.
MTV News caught up with Fergie on Thursday (March 22) in New York, and she couldn't be happier being off the road and spending some time at home.
"I love being on break. I'm getting to do things I really didn't have the capacity to do on tour," Fergie said at the Voli Light Vodka Brunch. "I get more structure at home, I get more time with family, with my husband, with my dogs. I'm still cleaning out my closet, getting to decorate my house, just nesting. I love it."
Fergie has been keeping herself busy, though. Even though she won't be a judge on "The X Factor," the singer is set to release her third fragrance and is working on her shoe line.
"I'm more focusing on my other things, like my shoe line, I'm designing for that. I'm really getting to work from home, and I'm loving it," Fergie said. "Having all these creative juices flowing into more girly things and visual and things like that for me."
The last time the Peas took a break, Fergie released her first solo album, The Dutchess. The album produced three #1 singles: "London Bridge," "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Glamorous." Yet this time around, Fergie isn't very eager to have the spotlight all to herself.
"I'm always writing, but there's no current plans for a solo record or a Black Eyed Peas record. I was on tour for eight years. My brain's not really there right now," Fergie said. "It's kind of just a machine that kept on moving with no signs of stopping. Finally, it's break time."
The other members of the Black Eyed Peas have been keeping busy on personal projects as well, will.i.am is continuing to work on his next solo album, #WillPower, and will make an appearance on Justin Bieber's upcoming album, Believe. Taboo is working on his own solo project and heading overseas for the Ultramagnetic DJ Experience tour, and apl.de.ap will reportedly focus on being an education ambassador in the Philippines.
