  • Kids' Choice Awards Owned By Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift

Performances from Katy Perry and One Direction also stood out at Nickelodeon awards show.

Host Will Smith was joined Saturday (March 31) by a bevy of stars for Nickelodeon's annual slime-fest, the Kids' Choice Awards.

The movie star and MC kicked off the night with a KCA-themed rap that included the first sliming of the night, when buckets of the famed goo fell on the audience, setting the tone for the fun-filled evening. The "Men In Black III" star promised that 2012 would include a record-breaking amount of slime, adding, "No one is safe from the slime." That included Halle Berry, who was the first celeb to get slimed.

The night's first presenters certainly brought the kooky factor up a bit. Nicki Minaj was decked out in a candy-colored dress complete with a bustier made out of tickets and bubbles glued to her skirt, as she stood alongside "Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson. The pair handed out the first blimp to Favorite Musical Group winners Big Time Rush.

Real-life couple and "The Amazing Spider-Man" stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone presented the award for Favorite Movie Actor. But before handing the blimp to Adam Sandler, Garfield told the room, "I feel like the luckiest guy in the world, 'cause I got to play my favorite superhero."

KCA first-timer and "Glee" star Chris Colfer got slimed when he hit the stage to present Selena Gomez the award for Favorite TV Actress. Perhaps Heidi Klum should have shared this advice with him first: Never trust anyone at the KCAs. Decked out in a two-piece, midriff-baring top and sparkly skirt, Gomez also won for Favorite Female Singer. "After no longer doing my show, knowing you guys still watch it means so much," she said of her now-defunct Disney series "The Wizards of Waverly Place."

Katy Perry was the first performer of the night. Done up in medieval gear, she flew across the room to the stage, where she broke out into her latest hit single, "Part of Me." Behind her, dancers were decked out in costumes from the same period. She served as a court performer, singing her scathing breakup track for the king and queen. The performance ended with Katy hitting the king with a pie.

Perry also won a blimp for her work in "The Smurfs," declaring, "The only reason I'm here today is because I've never gown up. I can't wait to do 'Smurfs 2.' "

Kristen Stewart won for Favorite Movie Actress for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1." Beaming in blue lace, she said, "This is, like, the coolest awards show ever. I love Nickelodeon. I liked 'Doug,' 'Rocco's Modern Life.' Awesome. I just have to say: Katy Perry's armor was the coolest thing I've ever seen."

Next up, the show got a bit serious when first lady Michelle Obama presented Taylor Swift with the Big Help Award. Swift won the special blimp in recognition of her philanthropic efforts, including work with U.S. tornado and flood survivors and various youth-related charities.

"I'm so honored. I have always wanted to meet you; this is amazing. I am so honored to be receiving this award from the first lady of the United States. I am freaking out," Swift said. "I'm really proud of all of you guys. I see you helping each other out. I think it's important you know you are making a difference in this world."

Taylor Lautner has kicked enough butt and taken enough names on the big screen that he won the blimp for Favorite Butt Kicker. "This is amazing," he told the room of screaming fans. "Robert, I'm sure you'll be winning this award next year for 'Iron Man 3' and 'The Avengers.' " That Robert he was referring to was presenter Robert Downey Jr., not Pattinson, obviously.

After winning, he was forced to do 1,000 push-ups by Smith. His reward for completing the misson? Getting slimed.

One Direction continued their U.S. takeover with their performance on the show. For "What Makes You Beautiful," the guys wore all black-and-white while futuristic lights danced behind them. Proving that everyone is a One Directioner at this point, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez danced around in the audience and sang every word of the song, while the fivesome kept girls screaming with their frothy, lighthearted pop track.

The big twist of the night came when Cee Lo Green was revealed as Will Smith's nemesis, the man dubbed "Creepy Voice." "Creepy Voice" had spent the night taunting Will, telling him how inadequate a host he is. His reasons? "I've always wanted to be slimed," "The Voice" judge said. "My name is Cee Lo Green. Slime's green. Slime me!" He didn't get slimed, but he did get ice-cream-sundaed. Maybe next year, Cee Lo.

After kicking Jaden and Willow out and accusing them of being "Creepy Voice," he brought his performer kids back out to hand out Favorite Male Singer, the night's last award. Justin Bieber, fresh from shooting his "Boyfriend" video, took the stage to accept his blimp.

"Right now, I've been working really hard on my album, Believe. This album is our album. This [blimp] goes out to all the fans. I love you so much," he said. In addition to the blimp, with Will by his side, Bieber got über-slimed, with the ooey-gooey stuff spewing out from the stage all over him.

And, with that, the show ended.

  • One Direction Get Celebs Dancing At Kids' Choice Awards

'What Makes You Beautiful' performance has Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and even first lady Michelle Obama on their feet.

One Direction continued their Stateside takeover Saturday (March 31) at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

And there was no question about their popularity: The piercing screams from the crowd when their performance was announced was enough confirmation. The boys drove the girls even wilder when just their outlines appeared before they kicked into their song "What Makes You Beautiful" and emerged onstage.

Every girl in the audience — including Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Ashley Tisdale and their posse of ladies — knew all the words and sang along. Even first lady Michelle Obama couldn't keep herself from clapping!

The guys' dapper style was in full force, with each member wearing a different black-and-white look. Ginormous white bouncy balls went flying through the crowd throughout the performance, and the OD dudes finished their set by knocking a few of the orbs back into the audience with huge grins on their faces.

Even before their Kids' Choice performance, it was pretty clear One Direction were making a big impression on America. Just a few weeks ago, OD's Up All Night made Billboard history by becoming the first debut album by British group to enter the chart at #1, and the album also topped the charts in 15 other countries.

And their U.S. television appearances didn't begin and end with the KCA: One Direction promoted their first album on the "Today" show earlier this month, and next week, they will be the musical guests on "Saturday Night Live."

"We obviously get American TV in the U.K., and I've watched 'Saturday Night Live' before ... and 'Saturday Night Live' is a big, big deal, everyone knows that. And when we got invited on, we couldn't believe it," One Direction's Niall Horan told MTV News last week. "Again, we haven't spent a lot of time here, so a lot of people don't know who we are, so to be invited on such a prestigious American show is pretty amazing."

  • Katy Perry Gets Medieval On Kids' Choice Awards

Following her performance, she is presented with the blimp for Favorite Voice From an Animated Movie.
    By Katie Byrne

Katy Perry performs at the 2012 Kids' Choice Awards
    Photo: Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

When Katy Perry debuted "Part of Me" at the Grammys last month, music fans couldn't help but focus on the new song's vicious lyrics obviously pointed at a no-good ex (was it ex-husband Russell Brand? Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy?). But at Saturday's (March 31) Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, Perry's young fans were only focused on the song's pulsing beat and catchy chorus. Even when Katy is getting serious, there's always fun to be had.

Case in point, her entrance: Perry descended onto the stage by flying over the crowd from the ceiling, brandishing a sword. She was joined onstage by dancers in medieval garb, which included puffy shirts and dresses covered in armor. When the bridge kicked in, Perry lifted a gigantic shield in front of her with a glowing heart in the center.

While the medieval theme and dancing could have turned dramatic, especially when a dancer had his head and arms locked in a torture device, Perry got her hands on a pie and smashed it in his face.

Following the performance, host Will Smith presented Perry with the Favorite Voice From an Animated Movie award for her work as Smurfette in "The Smurfs."

"Thank you so very much!" Katy told the crowd. "Listen: The only reason why I'm still here today — and remember this — is because I've never grown up! Thank you so much for this. I love you, and I can't wait to do 'Smurfs 2.' "

This wasn't Katy's first time at the Kids' Choice Awards: Back in 2010, she was the unlucky target of a green slime shower. "I can't see anything," she exclaimed after emerging from a puddle of the slimy goo. "Why does it taste like boogers?"

Perry recently debuted the combat-heavy clip for "Part of Me" on MTV. In the video, she gets down and dirty with Marines as she works out her anger against the aforementioned no-good ex. So why did Perry choose a military theme?

"It's an affirmation of strength, so I wanted to go the strongest route I ever could," she said of the song. "Literally, I was like, 'I'm gonna join the service. I'm gonna join the Marines.' We used only Marines. ... For three days, I was a wannabe Marine, which was so difficult."

  • Trayvon Martin's Hoodie Is Not The Issue, Rappers Say

'People are starting to identify this culture of people by their clothing ... and that's simply not fair,' Bun B says on 'RapFix Live.'
By Rob Markman, with additional reporting by Sway Calloway

    Photo: AP

In the aftermath of the tragic shooting death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin, the outraged public has latched on to a few symbolic items. When he was shot, young Trayvon was wearing a hooded sweatshirt on his way home from a store where he bought iced tea and a bag of Skittles. It was the hoodie that gunman George Zimmerman told police made the 17-year-old appear suspicious and in support of Martin, demonstrators have donned hoodies as a show of solidarity.

Others have even gone as far to suggest that the hood that Martin was wearing in some ways contributed to his death. During a televised Fox News broadcast, veteran journalist Geraldo Rivera argued that parents should not allow their black and Latino children to wear hoodies. "I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin's death as George Zimmerman was," he reasoned.

"The hoodie is something that we see all over America and all over the world," Bun B said in response on Wednesday's episode of "RapFix Live." "People are starting to identify this culture of people by their clothing and starting to attribute certain things by the way they dress and that's simply not fair."

Illinois congressman Bobby Rush was removed from the House floor after he protested Martin's murder by wearing a hood over his head. "Just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum," he said.

Rather than focus on the article of clothing that Trayvon was wearing when he was gunned down, Mississippi rapper and producer David Banner looked at what he feels is the deeper issue. "America is showing young black men: If you don't make us comfortable around you, we will kill you," he told MTV News on March 29. "As much as people don't want to admit it, that's what this is about."

Banner urged Martin supporters to not focus on the clothes Martin was wearing, but rather the issue at large. Hoodie or not, he said black men are often the target, citing the 2009 police shooting of Oscar Grant and the 1991 LAPD beating of Rodney King as examples.

Instead, Banner urges demonstrators to focus their energy to change legislation that ensures that young black men like Martin are protected from corrupt police and overzealous authority figures. "If we don't find what that is after this is no longer a trending topic, then we just lost another child again," he said.

  • Justin Bieber Promises Fire And Ice In 'Boyfriend' Video

'I think people are going to be really surprised,' Bieber tells MTV News on the set of the 'unique' video.

While much of Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend" video remains top-secret, MTV News scored a visit to the set Thursday night, and the teen superstar offered up some insight into what Beliebers will see when the clip drops.

"The concept of this video, I mean it's not like a steady concept," he explained on the Cali-based set in between shots. "It's not like 'Justin follows this girl to this spot.' No, it's a bunch of amazing scenes: Like a fire scene, we have an ice scene."

He continued that the video will also include some of his very fine dancing skills. "It's kind of like bouncing back and forth," he said. "And then there's scenes of me and just a bunch of girl dancers, and just some great shots, great artistic shots, great shots of me smiling. It's fun."

Bieber and Tilley have worked together several times in the past, including on the VMA-nominated "U Smile," as well as "Never Let You Go," "Fa La La" (with Boyz II Men) and Chris Brown's very cinematic "Next 2 U," which features Bieber.

"The video's really good. Colin has done a great job," he said. "The lighting has been amazing and everything's been so unique and I haven't seen anything like it. So, I think people are going to be really surprised."

"Boyfriend" is the lead single off Believe, expected to drop later this year. The song was co-produced and co-written by Mike Posner and Mason Levy. The album will also feature some production from Timbaland, Diplo and will.i.am.

  • Kids' Choice Awards 2012: 5 Things We're Dying To See

Katy Perry and One Direction's performances, Will Smith's hosting skills and more have us pumped for Saturday night.
    By Kara Warner

Photo: Robyn Beck/ AFP/ Getty Images

This year's Kids' Choice Awards are going to be as action-packed as ever, with Will Smith as host, two killer performers lined up and a slew of celebrities expected to be in attendance.

Here are the five things we're looking forward to during the live show at 8 p.m. Saturday:

    Katy Perry's Performance
Perry is not only one of this year's top nominees, but the "Teenage Dream" singer will also take the stage at USC's Galen Center to present and perform. So what song will she sing? What will she wear? Will her hair still be blue? One of Perry's biggest hits, "Firework," is up for Favorite Song. She is also nominated for Favorite Female Singer and Favorite Voice in an Animated Movie for her role in "The Smurfs."

A Host With Big Willie Style
Nickelodeon hit the jackpot of high-profile celeb hosts in landing Will Smith for their master of ceremonies this year. Although he's one of the biggest stars around, it's been awhile since we've seen the former Fresh Prince. We've seen a lot of his son Jaden and daughter Willow, who are becoming big stars in their own right, but we are psyched to see what Smith has planned as host. Will he be joined onstage by his kids? Will he incorporate a few of his famous friends into the act, like Tom Cruise? Will we get a sneak peek at new footage from the upcoming "Men in Black III"? We'll have to wait and see.

    One Direction Break Hearts Stateside
The cute and charming lads of "it" boy band One Direction will no doubt bring the house down with whatever they perform on the show. A word of advice to the lucky folks attending the show: Think about bringing earplugs to protect yourself from the enthusiastic, high-pitched screams that will take over the Galen Center the instant the British pop group takes the stage. And they're not taking the opportunity lightly. "Kids' Choice is the biggest night on Nickelodeon," Niall Horan told MTV News about the magnitude of their appearance on the show. "All the big stars are going to be there, and when we found out it was just us and Katy Perry performing, we were like, 'Geez, this is a big deal.' "

An Appearance By a First Lady
Talk about upping the style and class factor! The fact that the very well-respected FLOTUS will be on hand to present Taylor Swift with an award is a really big deal. Michelle Obama will honor Swift with the Big Help Award, in recognition of her philanthropic efforts, including work with U.S. tornado and flood survivors. Obama herself was the recipient of the award in 2010, in recognition of her Let's Move! Campaign, which champions healthier lifestyles for kids. And, as if that weren't enough to establish her Nick cred, earlier this year, Obama also appeared on a special episode of "iCarly" to promote her Joining Forces initiative to support military families.

    Who Will Get Slimed?
On to the most intriguing and entertaining part of the annual awards show: Who will get slimed? Despite the sticky, icky and total-mess factor that is involved with being covered from head to toe in the network's trademark green slime, it is considered an honor to get hit with the goo, which is said to be a mixture of green Jell-O, shampoo, oatmeal and flour. The illustrious list of previously slimed celebs includes: Katy Perry, Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Justin Timberlake, the Jonas Brothers, Jackson Rathbone and Russell Brand. So who's going down this year? Traditionally, the host is a prime target toward the end of the show, so we can probably count on seeing Smith covered in green, but who else? Maybe Perry or one of the presenters — Chris Rock, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Zac Efron, Victoria Justice, Big Time Rush or Cee Lo Green.

Don't miss the Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon.

  • Justin Bieber, 'Watch Your Back': Carly Rae Jepsen Loves Pranks Too!

"Punk'd" kicked off in a big way Thursday night. Justin Bieber was enlisted to host the premiere episode of the new season, and he didn't shy away from pulling fast ones on his A-list friends.

Bieber made Taylor Swift believe she ruined a wedding, leaving her in tears. And when he pranked MTV's own Rob Dyrdek, he caught on and ended up joining forces with the Biebs to get Sean Kingston instead; the stunned singer stood up for an angry assistant who drove her boss' car into a restaurant. Bieber also double-crossed Miley Cyrus, who thought she was pranking him, but he ended up fighting the kids she sent out to poke fun of him. She definitely wasn't expecting that and ended up pretty shocked by the reverse prank.

Bieber is a known prankster in real life, and his pal and label signee Carly Rae Jepsen opened up to MTV News about his punker side — and proudly said she's ready to take him on anytime.

"I haven't seen that side of him myself yet, but I heard he's a bit of a prankster, which is good. I like that," she told MTV News. "I'm going to give him a run for his money. I enjoy a prank or two myself. It's on! Watch your back!"

Cyrus will be back for more "Punk'd" fun later this season, when she hosts her own episode. She'll punk beau Liam Hemsworth and pal Khloé Kardashian. Demi Lovato, the Wanted and more will also get "Punk'd" later this season.

Don't miss "Punk'd" every Thursday at 10 p.m. on MTV. For continuing "Punk'd" coverage, be sure to check in with MTV's Remote Control blog.

  • 'Hunger Games': Why The Box-Office Odds Are In Its Favor

Riding high off its $150 million debut, experts predict that 'Hunger Games' isn't going to slow down anytime soon.
    By Fallon Prinzivalli

    Photo: Lionsgate

MTV News reported earlier this week that "The Hunger Games" opening-weekend sales surprised box-office experts, and we can see why. They originally projected a $70 million debut for the dystopian film. What actually happened was a $150 million weekend that propelled the film to the third-highest opening weekend ever.

That sparks the question: How will the movie fare its second weekend?

The film's debut dominated the sales of the one movie everyone was comparing it to: "Twilight." The vampire franchise's initial film brought in $69 million its first weekend and quickly declined from there. Will "The Hunger Games" suffer the same fate? Phil Contrino from BoxOffice.com doesn't think so.

" 'Hunger Games' is holding up very well. It's quite clear by now that it's not going to suffer from a sharp decline the way that 'Twilight' did," he said. "The reason for that is the fact that adults are into it and they don't always rush out opening weekend." BoxOffice.com is predicting $72 million this weekend — $2 million above predictions for its debut. Contrino continued, " 'The Hunger Games' definitely has a shot at hitting $400 million domestically. It's a great accomplishment for the first film of a franchise to hit that mark."

Gitesh Pandya from Box Office Guru agrees. "Overall, 'Hunger Games' looks on track to finish its U.S. run with $350 to $400 million, which would be higher than the first 'Twilight' and 'Harry Potter' films." He commented that the movie ended its first full week with about $190 million, which is a new record for a non-sequel. "I expect it to easily hold onto the box-office crown this weekend with sales in the neighborhood of $70 million."

While "Wrath of the Titans" and "Mirror, Mirror" aren't slated to surpass "Hunger Games" this weekend, Contrino thinks next weekend will be more of a race. "It'll be interesting to see whether or not 'Titanic 3D' or 'American Reunion' will take it down. It's going to be close." Pandya disagrees, "The April lineup is not too strong, so 'Hunger Games' may just remain #1 for three or four weeks total." The rest of the year, however, gives them some competition. "It may not end the year as 2012's top-grossing film as both 'The Dark Knight Rises' and 'The Avengers' has the potential to become bigger blockbusters that play to broader audiences."

Check out everything we've got on "The Hunger Games."

  • Heejun Han Soothes Jennifer Lopez After 'Idol' Exit: 'It's OK, Baby'

'Those judges suck, but Jennifer is awesome,' latest 'American Idol' castoff laughs to MTV News.
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Kelly Marino

    Photo: MTV News

No joke: Heejun Han got the boot on Thursday night's "American Idol," bringing his odd, occasionally hilarious run to an end.

And while his exit didn't come as a shock to most, it was rather odd that it came on the heels of his best performance, a smooth take on Donny Hathaway's "A Song for You," which earned him praise from the judges and a standing ovation from the studio audience.

But if you think Han is taking all this personally, well, then you probably haven't been paying attention to his antics. Because after his exit, he was all smiles, as MTV News found out firsthand.

"I would be sad if I were to go home when I was [in the] top nine, top seven, top six — I would be so sad anyways," he said. "But, you know, I'm just happy, because I finished really great, and I feel like I proved a lot of things to the world, so I'm kind of in an excited place, actually."

In typical Han fashion, he was still making the most of his time in the spotlight, using our microphone to praise his paramour, Jennifer Lopez — who seemed to be the lone judge determined to save him after he was voted off — and take a few joking swipes at frequent nemesis, mentor Jimmy Iovine.

"Jennifer actually came up to me and said, 'I really, really tried to save you, but they wouldn't listen to me!' and I said, 'It's OK, baby, it happens all the time.' Those judges suck, but Jennifer is awesome," he laughed. "[And] Jimmy Iovine needs to get himself a new pair of glasses and new hat, because he's been wearing that for a fricking long time. No, Jimmy was a great mentor, I respect him a lot. I [just] hope I don't see him anytime soon, because I've been talking a lot of crap about him."

While Han is slightly sad that his time on "Idol" is over, he said he has no regrets about anything he did on the show, mostly because he only auditioned to prove a point: that anyone can accomplish their goals if they put their mind to it. And he'll continue spreading that message.

"I started off this competition to prove to the world that, if you really believe in yourself, you can become someone regardless of who you are ... and that's what I did, that's what I proved," he said. "I never thought I could be a star or anything like that, and I'm not yet, but I want to take this chance to make something out of it, to prove to more people that you can become someone."

  • 'X Factor' Finalist Marcus Canty's New Single 'Strictly For The Ladies'

While 'Won't Make a Fool Out of You' will appear on 'Think Like a Man' soundtrack, Canty is also at work on debut LP.
    By Christina Garibaldi

He may have finished in fourth place on "The X Factor," but Marcus Canty should definitely consider himself a winner. Earlier this year, the R&B singer signed a deal with mentor L.A. Reid at Epic Records, along with fellow contestants Chris Rene and Astro, and now he has just released his first single, "Won't Make a Fool Out of You."

The smooth ballad, which shows off Canty's vocal strength, will be featured on the soundtrack to the film "Think Like a Man," but Canty promises he was thinking only of the ladies when making the song.

"This is strictly for the ladies," Canty told MTV News. "What the fellas can do with this, you can take it and play it for your ladies, you can wind down, you can dance to it."

Canty, who revealed that he will soon be shooting a video for the single, is still in the studio putting the finishing touches on his debut album, with help from his "X Factor" mentor, Reid.

"L.A Reid has been such a great mentor. He's loved the records that I've cut so far — he's enjoying it," Canty said. "He just wants me to continue to be myself. I just like to have fun. I want to make good music — I want to be somebody. He always tells me, 'Don't let anyone take away your joy.' That's what will carry me for a long time."

There was, however, a time when Canty wasn't experiencing a whole lot of joy in his life, when he broke up with a longtime girlfriend. Yet he turned his pain into inspiration for his upcoming album.

"Growing up, I had this girl. I was young, but I was so in love, from the third grade until probably right before the show, a year before the show, and I was heartbroken," Canty revealed. "Definitely even the single, when I was in the studio recording it, I try to envision a specific person when I'm singing a song, so then when I'm singing it, you'll feel what I'm saying."

Canty, who wowed crowds on the "X Factor" stage singing everything from Michael Jackson to Janis Joplin, is now ready to show everyone who he really is.

"It's going to be some heat. My album can touch a lot of different basics. I want to make good music [that] people can relate to, and I think my album is a cluster of a lot of different things," Canty said.

"I'm a regular guy, but when it comes to the stage and when it comes to recording, when it comes to my music, I'm super-passionate about it. I take my music so serious."

  • 'Game Of Thrones' Season Two: Hopes And Fears

From Tyrion Lannister's wobbly fate to Daenerys Targaryen's newborn dragons, the MTV News team runs down their hopes and fears
    By Josh Wigler

    Photo: HBO

"Game of Thrones" fans have a lot to be excited about. A brand-new 10-episode season is set to premiere Sunday night, bringing viewers back to the wicked world of Westeros for the first time since poor Ned lost his head in the spring of 2011. With the series' de facto protagonist dead and gone, it's time for other characters to step up and fill the void — such as the heroic Robb Stark, the villainous Joffrey Baratheon, and even the morally ambiguous Tyrion Lannister. As "Thrones" moves further along in author George R.R. Martin's original "Song of Ice and Fire" timeline, fans can expect more and more cheers, jeers and flat-out dumbfounding shocks all season long.

All of which is to say that, yes, many "Thrones" fans are hopeful about the new season ... but there are also legitimate concerns to consider. If the series is willing to behead its central character with a full episode to go before the first season finale, who knows what could happen next to the most beloved of characters?

For your reading pleasure, the MTV News team's most devoted "Thrones" fans joined together to share their hopes and fears for the coming season. Read on to see if you share their joys and concerns.

    Small People, Big World
Starting with the biggest highlight of "Game of Thrones" — Emmy winner Peter Dinklage's turn as Tyrion Lannister, naturally — our resident Westeros worshipers are all very excited to see not just Tyrion's next adventure, but also the bastard Jon Snow's travels north of the wall.

"Jon Snow's plotline picks up after a boring first season on the Wall. He finally travels north into the Haunted Forest, and he'll definitely encounter some pretty nasty things," said producer Stacey Sommer. "As for Tyrion, he'll certainly have his hands full with a crumbling King's Landing this season, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of Peter Dinklage on the small screen."

    Hands Off Our Imp
Speaking of Dinklage, everyone with even the faintest appreciation for "Thrones" can agree that the show would not be the same without Tyrion in tow. But we probably could have said the same thing about Sean Bean's Ned Stark before season one reached its end, couldn't we? To that end, our team was in complete agreement with a Chris Crocker-inspired plea: Leave our Imp alone!

"If the first season of 'Game of Thrones' taught us anything, it's that no one is safe — no matter how beloved or seemingly significant their character is," said Amy Wilkinson, editor of Hollywood Crush. "So please, please be careful, Tyrion Lannister. We can't do without your witty one-liners."

    Off With Joff's Head
Turnabout is fair play, they say. With that in mind, there's one character that everyone wants to see dead before much longer. "All I want from my 'Game of Thrones' season two is for Joffrey Baratheon to die a miserable, painful and gruesome death," staff writer Kara Warner offered. "I've never wished for a fictional character's demise more than Joffrey, except for maybe Viserys. God, those two are awful."

"Is it too much to ask for Joffrey Baratheon's head on a stick?" agreed Amy. "But seriously, vengeance for Eddard Stark's brutal beheading needs to be swift and savage and preferably at the hands of Robb Stark. Or, even better, young sister Sansa."

MTV News producer Ade Mangum chimed in: "I would enjoy a spoiler alert with news that Joffery won't be around much longer. I don't doubt that the directors of 'Thrones' told [actor Jack Gleeson] to channel Draco Malfoy, and maybe even my bratty little sister."

    Creedence Blackwater Revival
You'll find no spoilers regarding Joffrey's ultimate fate here, Ade, but at least this much is true: War is coming. There's one particularly epic battle coming up called the Battle of Blackwater, and while it's easily a highlight in the books "Thrones" is based upon, our team is concerned that the scene won't be nearly as epic on the small screen.

"My one nagging fear is that the Battle of Blackwater is not going to be as epic and awesome — and Tyrion-centric — as it was in the book," said MTV Movies Blog contributing writer Terri Schwartz. Stacey echoed those fears: "The entire season leads up to this moment, so it would be a shame if they shortchanged the action. I would love to see an entire episode dedicated to just the battle! "

(Psst: Considering that the season's ninth episode is titled "Blackwater" and is written by "Ice and Fire" author George R.R. Martin, you just might get your wish, Stacey.)

    Fire And Blood
Finally, going into season two, there's one particular cliffhanger that everyone's excited to see more of: wandering queen and khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen's newborn dragons. The return of dragons for the first time in centuries is a major plot point in the continuing tale of "Thrones" — a risky proposition not just for viewers who've become accustomed to the relatively low-level fantasy world of Westeros, but for creators pinning so much importance on a trio of computer-generated characters.

"I think my biggest fear of all is that the dragons are going to look terrible," Ade said. "I just hope the CGI team is working overtime on season two."

If I can break down the fourth wall for a moment: I've seen the first four episodes of season two, and they're glorious, dragons and all. Dany devotees, if no one else, have nothing to be concerned about in the dragon department.

  • Whitney Houston's Hotel Room Had Traces Of Cocaine

Police found some cocaine residue when they searched the singer's room following her death in February.
    By Gil Kaufman

Police investigating the death of Whitney Houston recovered traces of cocaine in the Beverly Hills hotel room where the pop diva died last month.

According to TMZ, documents from investigators do not reveal the quantity of the drug found but say simply that among the items recovered by police was "white, powdery remnants." Quoting unnamed sources, the site said the powder tested positive for cocaine.

The L.A. County coroner revealed last week that accidental drowning was the official cause of Houston's death, adding that cocaine use and heart disease were also contributing factors. According to the coroner's report, traces of cocaine were found in Houston's system at the time of death, along with Xanax, Flexeril, marijuana and Benadryl, which officials said played no role in her death.

At the time, it was reported that no cocaine was found in the singer's room when she died, but coroner spokesman Craig Harvey noted that cocaine metabolites were found in her system, leading them to conclude that Houston was a chronic user of the drug. A number of prescription pills were recovered in the Beverly Hills hotel room, but officials from the coroner's office said there wasn't an unusual amount of medication.

Houston, 48, was laid to rest in her hometown of Newark, New Jersey, on February 18 at an invite-only funeral service at the New Hope Baptist Church in a service that included Stevie Wonder, mentor Clive Davis and CeCe Winans.

TMZ also reported that Beverly Hills Police detectives are not investigating the rumors that a friend of Houston's allegedly removed cocaine from the room following her death because they are not convinced evidence of the drug was swept away before their arrival.

Houston struggled with drug and alcohol issues for many years before her death.

  • Rihanna Sneaks A Peek Of Drake's 'Take Care' Video

'I can't wait to see what all my fans think,' RiRi tells Capital FM of upcoming clip.

While fans are salivating for the chance to see what Rihanna and Drake will be up to in their highly anticipated "Take Care" video, the singer opened up a bit about the clip.

In an interview with Capital FM, the always-feisty Rihanna teased that she recently saw the finished video and it lived up to her expectations.

"I can't wait to see what all my fans think. I saw it a couple of days ago. I love it," she said. "It's beautiful. It's different from anything Drake has ever done."

Ri was spotted heading to one of Drake's shows earlier this week in London when he performed at the O2 arena. Post-show, the twosome were spotted at London hotspot Low. Perhaps she saw the video during their hangout session?

Rihanna and Drake previously appeared together in her video for "What's My Name?" In the clip, the real-life pals played a lovey-dovey couple, and fans have been waiting to see what these two had in store for the "Take Care" video since February, when word of the shoot went public.

Director Yoann Lemoine called the three-day shoot "very minimal" and "mellow," adding, "They seemed to be super close, and that's what I wanted for the video. They fit together pretty well, so it was just easy.

"There's a lot of space in the video, and I wanted the visuals to pay tribute to that," he continued. "It pays tribute to nature. When I listened to the track, I was seeing a landscape ... involving animals and massive landscapes. I won't say too much, but it's very surprising that there are very few elements in it. It's very simple but there's this big sense of emptiness in it. It's not narrative at all, and it involves animals."

  • Usher's Looking For Myself Due June 11

Singer announces that he's teamed up with Salaam Remi, Rico Love, Jim Jonsin and Max Martin for his latest album.

On his Diplo-produced slow jam, Usher took fans to the "Climax" and gave them and a sensually searing tease to his upcoming album, Looking for Myself.

On Friday (March 30), Usher announced that along with Diplo, he also teamed up with Salaam Remi, Rico Love, Jim Jonsin and Max Martin on the album, due June 11. He's expected to release both a standard and deluxe version of the album.

Looking for Myself is the follow-up to 2010's Raymond v. Raymond, which launched mega-singles like the ubiquitous will.i.am-produced "OMG," as well as "Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home)," "Lil Freak," "There Goes My Baby" and "More." He also maintained radio presence thanks to his inescapable collaboration with David Guetta, "Without You," in 2011.

"He has very specific ideas of where he wants to go musically and sound-wise," "Without You" collaborator Taio Cruz told MTV News about Usher's next release. "He always wants there to be the soul in there. I'm kind of, not the opposite, but I'm always like, 'Let's get straight to the point and be really clear with the message and be simple.' So we try to match those two worlds together: being soulful and, at the same time, catchy,"

Given their work on "Without You," that may give fans an idea of what the twosome have up their sleeves for Looking For Myself. "I think the world wanted a record like that. That [song] really spoke to the journey that I've actually been on in the last three years," Usher said about that song and how it relates to his musical philosophy. "Traveling all around the world, music sounds different. There's many different genres, and when you see R&B and pop and house, as well as electronic, come together, that's the reality of what music is."

For the next two Saturdays, you won't be able to turn on a TV without coming across One Direction. The British boy band will take the stage this Saturday for the Kids' Choice Awards, and next Saturday, they'll be the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live."

"We're gonna be in L.A. for the Kids' Choice Awards. We're doing a big performance with that," Niall Horan told MTV News about the annual Nickelodeon awards show. "Kids' Choice is the biggest night on Nickelodeon, and all the big stars are going to be there, and when we found out it was just us and Katy Perry performing, we were like, 'Geez, this is a big deal.' "

Once they wrap up that gig, the guys will have a few days to prep for their "SNL" debut, another big moment that proves the chart-topping Brits are taking America by storm.

"We obviously get American TV in the U.K., and I've watched 'Saturday Night Live' before ... and 'Saturday Night Live' is a big, big deal, everyone knows that. And when we got invited on, we couldn't believe it," Horan said. "Again, we haven't spent a lot of time here, so a lot of people don't know who we are, so to be invited on such a prestigious American show is pretty amazing."

Horan said he'd love the chance to show off his funny side with "SNL" stars Kristin Wiig and Bill Hader, if given the chance. "We heard there could be a possibility [that] 'Saturday Night Live' comes with a skit. We're up for it," he said. "We'd love to do something like that. Nothing has come up, but if it comes up, that's part of the 'Saturday Night Live' experience to do one of their skits."

  • Whitney Houston's Death Left Jordin Sparks In 'Shock'

'American Idol' alum talks to Entertainment Weekly about working with the late legend on their upcoming movie 'Sparkle.'
    By Kara Warner

Many people will remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news of Whitney Houston's untimely death in February. And while everyone's experience was memorable in some way, the story of Houston's "Sparkle" co-star Jordin Sparks hearing the news is especially poignant.

The season-six "American Idol" winner was in a L.A. hotel room getting ready to meet Houston at the Beverly Hilton and attend Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy bash when her publicist knocked on her door.

"She said, 'Whitney's gone,' " Sparks told Entertainment Weekly. "I said, 'What do you mean? She's not going to the party?' She said, 'No, she passed.' It was like a movie when you see somebody and they're just shocked and can't move. I literally couldn't say anything. I couldn't feel anything. It was a complete shock. I was just holed up in my hotel room for a few days after that.

"I didn't know her for very long, but it was an intense two months: 12 hours every day spending time with somebody," Sparks recalled. "It was amazing to walk into work and then Whitney is sitting in her chair blasting gospel music and singing. I'm thinking to myself, 'People would give their right arm to just hear some of this. And it's happening every day.' She was really, really great."

"Sparkle" is a remake of the 1976 Irene Cara film about three talented young musicians who struggle with addiction. The new version features the 2007 "American Idol" winner as the titular character Sparkle and Houston, who also served as executive producer after acquiring the rights to the film more than a decade ago, as her mother, Emma.

"It was definitely her baby," Sparks said of Houston's attachment to the project. "You could see the pride on her face when we wrapped. She was so excited that this was finally happening. Even before she passed I wanted to be able to represent this movie in a way that would honor her and respect her, because she worked so hard on it. With her passing, it's definitely been a lot more pressure. We'll see how it goes. I'm sure there will be interviews where it will hit me and I might get emotional, and there's going to be other interviews where I reminisce about how happy and excited she was. I'm really proud of the film. I can't wait for people to see it."

"Sparkle" is scheduled to be released by Sony on August 17.

  • 'Hip Hop Squares': New Game Show Coming To MTV2!

Nick Cannon, Mac Miller and Fat Joe will help put fresh spin on iconic 'Hollywood Squares' with new show, set to premiere May 22.
    By Rob Markman

    Photo: MTV2

Hip-hop is going Hollywood — or is it the other way around? On May 22, MTV2 will premiere "Hip Hop Squares", a fresh new take on the iconic tic-tac-toe game show "Hollywood Squares."

Nick Cannon, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Mac Miller and Machine Gun Kelly will be featured as contestants. "Jackass" crewmember Bam Margera, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley and Wu-Tang's Ghostface Killah also will appear on the show, hosted by New York radio DJ Peter Rosenberg.

" 'Hip Hop Squares' is a great representation of MTV2's new brand filter to deliver smart, funny and relevant content that speaks directly to male Millennials, or 'Malennials,' as we call them," said Paul Ricci, head of programming for MTV2. "The show will refresh an iconic format and create a fun, dynamic series that's unpredictable, heavy on personality and much more 'party' than 'game show.' "

If the new incarnation of "Squares" stays true to the original, two contestants (one representing "X," and the other representing "O") will compete for prizes in a trivia-styled game where the show's stars are situated on a giant tic-tac-toe board.

The contestants strategically select which square they wish to capture and ask the star seated there a trivia question. After the question is answered, the contestant can choose whether to agree or disagree. If the contestant is right, they capture the square; if he or she is wrong, their opponent wins the square. The first contestant to line up three squares in a row wins the game.

"They cross the spectrum from musicians and celebrities to athletes and casual fans of hip-hop," Paul Ricci, MTV2′s programming chief said. "The show will refresh an iconic format and create a fun, dynamic series that's unpredictable, heavy on personality and much more 'party' than 'game show'."

    Sounds like a ball.

Tune into the premiere of "Hip Hop Squares" at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Tuesday, May 22, on MTV2!

  • Nas Chose Producers Who Were 'Gonna Be There' For Life Is Good

Salaam Remi, No I.D., Heavy D and Da Internz all worked with Esco on his upcoming LP.

Throughout his career, Nas has worked with some of the most celebrated hip-hop producers from Dr. Dre and DJ Premier to the Trackmasters and Swizz Beatz, but for his next LP, Life Is Good, Esco chose to keep the vibe more intimate.

"I wanted to work on a record where it's just not a lot of people," Nas said when he appeared on "RapFix Live" on Wednesday. "So it's mostly No I.D., Saalam Remi, Da Internz; those are the ones who basically gave me the music. They knew what I wanted; they sat with me."

On 2001's Stillmatic, Remi contributed the beat for "What Goes Around" and then came back the next year to give Esco two singles for his God's Son LP ("Made You Look" and "I Can"). No I.D. and Nas have some history as well. In 2007, the Nasty one hopped on the No I.D.-produced cut "Success" off of Jay-Z's American Gangster album, and late last year, Nas, Common and the Chicago producer collaborated on "Ghetto Dreams."

"I needed producers that's gonna be there and get into what I want to get into, have the conversation and start making the records based off of what I'm looking for," God's Son said.

Heavy D also lent a production hand prior to his death last year, making the beat for Life Is Good's latest single, "The Don." Nas didn't find out that Heavy sent the music for him to use until after he died however. "I looked up to Heav," he said. "He's an icon, a music icon."

  • Evanescence, Green Day, Tokio Hotel, My Chemical Romance: Musical March Madness Final Four!

After three weeks of battles, one of these four will take home the MMM title; voting in all Final Four matchups is now open!
    By James Montgomery

    Evanescence's Amy Lee
    Photo: Getty Images

Well, that was intense. After 48 hours of epic Elite Eight battles, we've reached the Final Four of MTV's Musical March Madness. And while making it this far is certainly an accomplishment, there's not exactly a whole lot of time to sit around and savor it.

That's because voting in our Final Four matchups is already under way, and polls will remain open until Sunday (April 1) at midnight ET. You've carried your favorite band to the cusp of championship glory, but can you help push them over the top?

Vote for your favorite band, discuss and share on Facebook and Twitter in the MTV Musical March Madness interactive bracket!

Let's take a look at the four bands still standing in MMM: true, tourney-tested squads that have survived three weeks of brutal back-and-forth battles just to make it to this point. In a way, they're all champions; too bad only one will actually be able to call themselves that.

#5 My Chemical Romance vs. #5 Green Day My Chem are the champions of the Midwest region, having survived a furious rally from upset-minded Metallica in the Elite Eight (seriously, with more than 600,000 votes cast, MCR won by 400). Meanwhile, defending MMM champs Green Day had to stage a serious comeback of their own against Adam Lambert, who led until late Thursday before succumbing to GD's full-court press. At this point of the tournament, there truly are no easy matchups, and this one, well, it's going to be a war. Both bands have been put through the wringer, and both know how to win a close contest; can My Chemical Romance finally take home the MMM title (they've been in the Final Four three consecutive years), or will Green Day make history as the first band to repeat as champions? All we can do is wait and see ...

#1 Evanescence vs. #12 Tokio Hotel Speaking of history: Congratulations to Evanescence, the first #1 seed to make the MMM Final Four. They've battled hard throughout the tournament, having bested tough foes like Paramore, Linkin Park and Dave Matthews Band just to reach this point. As a reward, they draw perhaps the toughest opponent in the entire field: Tokio Hotel, a band that's steamrolled their way through the competition. They've throttled all challengers and even got revenge (big time) against rivals Coheed and Cambria in the Elite Eight. No two bands have enjoyed as much fan support in MMM 2012, which is why we're certain this one's going to be a classic. And not to go out on a limb here, but we suspect the winner of this one may very well be the band hoisting the championship trophy next week. No pressure or anything.

Is your favorite band still alive in the Final Four? Help carry them to the championship — or assist in shattering some dreams — by voting now. Polls close Sunday at midnight, so get cracking — we're so close to crowning a champ!

Vote for your favorite band, discuss and share on Facebook and Twitter in the MTV Musical March Madness interactive bracket!

MTV's 2012 Musical March Madness tournament reaches the Elite Eight! Voting runs until midnight ET on Thursday, March 29, and winners are determined by fan votes, so if your favorite act is still alive, it'll be up to you to guide them to glory. You can rally the troops on Twitter using the hashtag #MMM or by downloading one of our custom badges — but get ready, it only gets more difficult from here on out.

  • 98 Degrees Reuniting: Which Other Boy Bands Should Follow Suit?

O-Town, 'NSYNC make our list of boy bands that should get back together.
    By Jocelyn Vena

    Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ Getty Images

It's about to get 98 Degrees and hotter in the boy-band bonanza. Nick Lachey's old group is rumored to be getting back together to launch a summer tour.

Sources tell Rumorfix that the band, which has been on a decade-long hiatus, is about to announce a 15-city trek set to take place in July and August. A formal announcement should be made in the next week. One source told the site that the tour would serve as a thank-you to the band's fans.

Rumors of a reunion kicked off on Wednesday, when the band's website got a face-lift that includes a spanking new logo and a Twitter feed with the guys' official pages scrolling through the homepage. A rep for the band had not responded to MTV News' request for comment by press time.

Given all the love boy bands are getting these days (see One Direction and the Wanted), there are still some that might want to capitalize on the mania sweeping the world. Here are MTV News' picks for the groups we'd love to see get back together.

O-Town O-Town was the product of the reality show "Making the Band." Once managed by imprisoned boy-band impresario Lou Pearlman, the guys managed to put their reality-show pedigree behind them and launched a short-lived, successful run that included hits like the chart-topping "Liquid Dreams."

'NSYNC This would be the gold-star reunion. 'NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys were the two boy bands of the late-'90s revival that reached mega heights of fame and success. Several albums into their career, there appeared to be no stopping Justin Timberlake and the boys. But in 2002, they went on a "temporary hiatus" and have never looked back.

Westlife Westlife plan to break up later this year after they wrap up their 2012 tour. But now seems like the right time to keep it going a little bit longer. Given America's love for boy bands that hail from the U.K., Westlife, who found fame under the guidance of Simon Cowell and serenaded ladies with tracks like "Swear It Again," might just want to stick around and ride out this latest wave of boy-band love.

Which boy band would you love to see get back together? Tell us in the comments!
