Переслать - 'Dark Tower' Falls At Warner Bros, 'Ted' Financiers Show Interest
Roland Deschain and producer Ron Howard have hit yet another bump on the road to "The Dark Tower."
The proposed multi-platform adaptation of Stephen King's saga has never suffered from a lack of ambition, but now it is in desperate need of funding. According to a Variety report, Warner Bros., the second studio to consider the project after Universal passed, has turned it down.
The sprawling epic would play out over three films and two intermediate seasons of television, most likely for HBO. After Universal passed, WB voiced budget concerns and one-time attached star Javier Bardem exited, there has not been much good news for "The Dark Tower," but hope may not be lost just yet.
Following up the news of the Warner Bros. pass on "The Dark Tower," Deadline reported that Media Rights Capital, the company that backed Seth MacFarlane's "Ted," is in "serious talks" to take on the project. It just so happens that MRC's Modi Wiczyk loves the King books. The company has taken on other ambitious projects recently, funding Neill Blomkamp's "Elysium."
If the MRC deal is a "serious" as Deadline says it is, "The Dark Tower" may still have some life left in it, but with so many hiccups and passes, an actual greenlight for the three films and two seasons of TV seem less and less likely. We much as we'd love to see this one go through, we're won't be holding our breath.

Переслать - 'The Impossible' Trailer Brings Terrifying Tsunami To Life
We're just coming up for air and a fresh wad of tissues after checking out the first domestic and emotionally powerful new trailer for J.A. Bayona's latest film "The Impossible."
The film stars Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts as parents who take their three boys on vacation to Southeast Asia in 2004. If that timing sends up any warning signs, it's for a good reason. This is the true story of that family's struggle to survive and then find each other after a tsunami hit their resort.
The U.S. trailer went online over at Apple yesterday, but you can check out an embed after the jump!
The official synopsis follows below.
Maria (Naomi Watts), Henry (Ewan McGregor) and their three sons begin their winter vacation in Thailand, looking forward to a few days in tropical paradise. But on the morning of December 26th, as the family relaxes around the pool after their Christmas festivities the night before, a terrifying roar rises up from the center of the earth. As Maria freezes in fear, a huge wall of black water races across the hotel grounds toward her. Based on a true story, THE IMPOSSIBLE is the unforgettable account of a family caught, with tens of thousands of strangers, in the mayhem of one of the worst natural catastrophes of our time. But the true-life terror is tempered by the unexpected displays of compassion, courage and simple kindness that Maria and her family encounter during the darkest hours of their lives. Both epic and intimate, devastating and uplifting, THE IMPOSSIBLE is a journey to the core of the human heart.
"The Impossible" opens on December 21.

Переслать - Robert Pattinson Isn't Concerned About Losing His British Accent
Just because Robert Pattinson has been playing an American dreamboat for the past four years doesn't mean he's any less of an Englishman at heart.
Ever since he broke onto the scene in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," Rob has primarily been starring as an American in films. Between "The Twilight Saga," "Remember Me," "Water for Elephants" and now "Cosmopolis," one concerned fan was apparently worried RPattz might be losing his sexy British accent. We put the question to the man better known as Edward Cullen during "MTV First: Robert Pattinson," and he admitted that sometimes he does slip into American when he's in the United States.
"I remember when I first came to America I couldn't drive, so I was taking taxis everywhere and I got into this habit of speaking in an American accent just because people genuinely couldn't understand you," he explained. "The amount of times people would ask me what my name was, I'd be like, 'Rob,' and they'd be like, 'What are you saying? Your name is Rope?' I was like, 'How are you hearing Rope?'"
It turns out that Rob's American accent is still a work in process. He said that the one word that trips him up more than any other is "been." Sometimes he says it the English way, pronounced like "bean," while we Americans have it sound like "bin." "Occasionally I kind of say that in movies," Rob said. "It's kind of weird."
But there's no need to be concerned. At the end of the day, Rob is still very much a Brit, and he doesn't plan on that changing any time soon.
"I guess I don't spend that much time in England. But I hope I'm not [losing my accent]. I don't have the concern," he said, adding that he's not planning to adjust his accent depending on his location like some other celebrities have. "People don't judge people who move to America on that. Even English people don't. Well, actually they do. Everyone thinks it's crazy, going the other way."

Переслать - 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Set Photos Tease The Post-Apocalypse
It looks like things are going to get worse before they get better for the characters in "Mad Max: Fury Road."
A batch of set photos have hit the web courtesy of CineCommunity (via Collider) and they tease a very extreme-looking post-apocalyptic world. The images mostly show the vehicles that will be driven during the movie as well as some of the props and costumes, but together they give us an idea of the world that Mad Max will be inhabiting. And it's not very pretty.
The coolest elements of these photos are definitely the vehicles. We love the whole old-meets-apocalypse vibe of the cars, as well as the fact that they're loaded with heavy artillery. The above image, which looks to be a pick-up truck mixed with a backhoe that's covered in rusty spikes, seems to be the War Rig driven by Charlize Theron's character Imperator Furiosa.
We don't know much about the "Max Mad" film beyond the fact that it finally started filming at the beginning of last month and is being directed by series creator George Miller. In a recent press release, he offered his own take on the movie.
"Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa," Miller said. "This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived."
Tom Hardy stars as Mad Max while Charlize Theron is Imperator Furiosa. In addition, we've learned Nicholas Hoult plays Nux and Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley play the group of women known as The Wives.

Переслать - Gary Ross Will Direct 'Peter And The Starcatchers' Next
Gary Ross has finally settled on a follow-up project to his massively successful adaptation of "The Hunger Games." The director considered a handful of possibilities, but Deadline is reporting that Ross has decided to direct "Peter and the Starcatchers."
The film will be based on a novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, which acts a prequel to the Peter Pan story we are all familiar with.
Ross was reportedly also considering "The Secret Life of Houdini," but the Deadline report claimed that a deal was not close for that project.
Learn more about "Peter and the Starcatchers" after the jump!
According to Deadline, "Peter and the Starcatchers" has a little ways to go before getting in front of the camera. Screenwriter Jeese Wigutow still has to deliver his latest draft of the script, and there is not a budget in place yet.
But Gary Ross reportedly wants to get moving quickly, hoping to get the film going as soon as possible in 2013.

Переслать - Who Should Star In A Female Version Of 'The Expendables'?
Who says the boys should get all the fun? If there's anything that's been noticeably lacking from the all-star line-up of "The Expendables" films, it's some butt-kicking leading ladies. Fortunately we're not the only ones to see this as a mistake, as "The Grey" producer Adi Shankar and his team at 1984 Private Defense Contractors are planning their own version of "The Expendables" starring women.
Variety reports that Shanker is "already in talks with several prominent actresses affiliated with the action genre," but who could they be? We put together our own lengthy wish list of women who would be great for the project, which you can read after the jump.
Linda Hamilton
At the time, Sarah Connor was the baddest girl around. Linda Hamilton proved to us in "The Terminator" films that women don't always need to be the damsels in distress, and can sometimes be even more badass than Arnold Schwarzenegger.Gina Carano
You know you're a certified action star when Steven Soderbergh makes a movie just to show off your talents. Gina Carano is an up-and-coming actress on the Hollywood scene, and her muscular physique and background in martial arts make her a shoe-in for this movie.Lucy Liu
Ever since "Charlie's Angels" was released back in 2000, Lucy Liu has been one of the best female action stars in the business. We love her best in "Kill Bill" and "Southland," and she definitely could add some credibility to this upcoming movie.Halle Berry
When you're a Bond girl who gets to be an equal to James Bond and a superheroine who gets her own movie, you know you're doing something right. Halle Berry might be known best for her sex appeal, but she's got some action chops to go along with it.Michelle Rodriguez
We're hard-pressed to find a movie or TV show Michelle Rodriguez starred in where she didn't play a badass. She and Carano both are in the same boat where they're known for their physicality and action prowess, and that's why we adore them.Michelle Yeoh
Another Bond girl who was just as capable as 007, Michelle Yeoh has proved time and again that she's just as great a dramatic actress as she is a physical and action-oriented one. Plus she can also add some credibility to the film.Milla Jovovich
From "The Fifth Element" to the "Resident Evil" movies, Milla Jovovich has proven that she is served best with a gun in her hand and a trail of defeated villains behind her. Maybe her husband, Paul W.S. Anderson, can even direct the project.Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie is probably the best-known and most successful action heroine working in Hollywood right now. It's a long shot to get her on board, but we feel like she would be up for it. After all, she's proven she can have fun in the genre with films like "Salt," "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and the "Tomb Raider" movies.Uma Thurman
In 2003's "Kill Bill: Vol. 1," Quentin Tarantino proved to us that we have no idea what ass-kicking women are capable of. Though his two "Kill Bill" films starred an array of awesome actresses (including Liu), the movies wouldn't have worked if Uma Thurman wasn't such an impressive badass.Sigourney Weaver
She's Ellen Ripley. Let's just leave it at that. And two for good luck: Chloe Moretz and Jennifer Lawrence
There needs to be at least one young actress in there who makes a sequel worth making.Who would you like to see in this film? Tell us in the comments section below or on Twitter!
Переслать - 'The Hobbit': When Will We Finally See Smaug?
There are many reasons we are excited for the upcoming "The Hobbit" films, but one of the biggest ones is the fact Benedict Cumberbatch is playing Smaug the dragon. We haven't even had a tease of the big, bad treasure-hoarder in any of the movie's promotion, but it turns out that we won't have to wait ages to see him in action after all.
With "The Hobbit" now being split into three movies, we aren't quite clear which film we'll see Bilbo Baggins confront Smaug in. The scene occurs towards the end of "The Hobbit" novel, so it seems safe to assume that it won't be featured until either "The Hobbit: There And Back Again" or the currently untitled third "Hobbit" film. But in an interview featured on CumberbatchWeb, we've learned that he will actually appear much earlier in the trilogy. Be warned, there are spoilers after the jump.
"I think my eye might open at the end of the first film and then you'll get the rest of me in the second," Cumberbatch said.
Apparently this interview happened before it was announced that "The Hobbit" would be split into three films, so Cumberbatch's information might be out of date. But rumor has it that "There And Back Again" will be renamed "The Desolation of Smaug," so we could be seeing the dragon in the second film after all. We're just excited that we'll get a tease of him in "An Unexpected Journey," even if it is just his eye.
"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" is due in theaters on December 14.

It stars Nicolas Cage as a bank robber. There's more. In this movie, he plays a bank robber, who gets caught pulling a job, and when he gets released from prison, his partner, played by a long-hair, strung-out Josh Lucas, demands his share of the money, which Cage destroyed. Will Montgomery is a master thief who after being double-crossed in a heist gone awry is sent to prison for 8 years. Upon his release he's ready to leave his criminal past behind and try to rebuild a relationship with his estranged daughter Allison. The FBI and his old cohorts believe that he hid the loot from the last heist eight years ago, $10 million in bonds. To get his hands on it, his old partner Vincent kidnaps Allison and demands the entire $10 million as ransom. Keeping her in the soundproofed trunk of a taxi cab, he's able to stay mobile amongst the throngs of taxis out during Mardi Gras, making it nearly impossible to find. Montgomery only has one day to get the $10 million ransom, but much to the disbelief of the FBI on his trail and Vincent, Will doesn't actually have it. Instead, he must trust his instincts and his old partner in crime, the beautiful, sexy and smart Riley, to do one more clever heist to get his daughter back alive before it's too late.
