  • Emmy Rossum Casts A Spell On Us With 'Beautiful Creatures' Look

    by Meg Malone

We're pretty psyched about the upcoming "Beautiful Creatures" movie—remember how MTV News got to visit the set? I mean, no biggie or anything... Well, today in the Twitterverse, Emmy Rossum indulged in our "Beautiful Creatures" fandom by sharing her character's look for the upcoming movie, courtesy of a spread in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly.

We are very much looking forward to the further pictures that Emmy promises! What do you think, Crushers? I'm personally all about that hair color, but could I rock it as well as Ridley? I'll let you know if I ever give it a whirl.

For those who may be a bit less familiar, "Beautiful Creatures" is based on Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl's novel of the same name, and the movie tells the story of teenage Ethan (Alden Ehrenreich) and new-girl-in-town Lena (Alice Englert). Did we mention the part where Ethan had been seeing Lena in his dreams or how she is a magical caster? Yeah, there's a lot more going on than just boy-meets-girl here. In the movie, Emmy plays Lena's cousin Ridley who wants Lena to follow in her dark magic path.

Production wrapped on "Beautiful Creatures" in June, and it will be making its way to theaters on February 13, 2013—mark your calendars (a great Valentine's Day date perhaps, non?).

Are you excited for "Beautiful Creatures"?

  • Adam Lambert Guest Starring On 'Pretty Little Liars'

    Adam Lambertby Meg Malone

Listen up, Crushers, because we have a message that's just as juicy as the ones A sends to her favorite Rosewood foursome.

Come October, the "Pretty Little Liars" crew will be getting a special guest appearance from none other than "American Idol" alum Adam Lambert. Not only will Adam be guest starring, but bonus: He's even going to be performing some songs! The episode is slated to air near Halloween, so there's plenty of time now to not only speculate on the true identity of A, but also as to how Adam's story is going to play out.

Hurry on over to MTV Newsroom for more, and of course you can always catch up on all the happenings with Aria, Spencer, Emily and Hanna in our weekly "Pretty Little Liars" recaps. (You're welcome!)

  • London 2012 Olympics: Jennifer Lawrence, Channing Tatum, Miley Cyrus Make Our Celebrity Roster

We love our summer TV shows, like "Pretty Little Liars" and "True Blood," but the must-see event of the season will undoubtedly be the Olympic. Every other year, the games make celebrities out of a few star athletes, like Michael Phelps and Shawn Johnson, but what if we flipped that trend around and placed some of our favorite celebrities into the mix as Olympic athletes? Here, we present to you some gold medal contenders from the Hollywood Crush Olympic Team.

    Archery: Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer studied archery for six weeks to portray the bow-slinging Katniss Everdeen on screen. If she can shoot a squirrel square in the eye, she can hit a bullseye in the Olympic arena.

    Women's Gymnastics: Miley Cyrus
The soon-to-be Mrs. Hemsworth is a devoted Pilates practitioner and before her Disney starlet days, she was a cheerleader. Nastia who?

    Men's Gymnastics: Channing Tatum
Channing is strong yet flexible, his moves are smooth yet sharp and his body earns a perfect 10. Plus, we know from "Magic Mike" that he's skilled at showing a bar who's boss.

    Fencing: Daniel Radcliffe
After waving a wand around through eight "Harry Potter" films—and vanquishing the Dark Lord in the process—Daniel could take down opponent after opponent on the fencing floor.

    Synchronized swimming: "Glee" cast
New Directions proved that they're coordinated in the water as well as on land during their performance of "We Found Love" in the McKinley High pool. We think the Olympic judges would love some vocals with their aquatic kicks and twirls.

    Wrestling: Kristen Stewart
One of the scenes we're most looking forward to seeing in "Breaking Dawn: Part 2" is when Bella defeats the beastly Emmett at an arm wrestle. After that kind of practice, KStew's ready for some tougher competition.

    Weightlifting: Joe Magnianello
We really just want to see Joe in those tight spandex uniforms. You're welcome for that mental image.

    Track: Anna Paquin
Girl spends half of her time on "True Blood" running away from vampires, werewolves, fairies, shifters and whatever other supe of the day is after her. Just stick Russell Edgington behind her on the track and she'll bring home the gold.

    Sailing: Robert Pattinson
Okay, so Rob may not exactly be the athletic type, but we think sailing is the perfect sport for him. Pull a few ropes, lean out over the side of the boat and let the wind tousle your magnificent hair. Winning!

    Women's Tennis: Lady Gaga
Anna Kournikova, Venus and Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova are known as much for their court style as their athletic prowess. Lady Gaga could definitely cook up a tennis outfit to put everyone else to shame.

    Basketball: Justin Bieber
Remember when the Biebs won MVP at the 2011 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game? He may not be as tall as most Olympians, but he makes up for it in speed, agility and skill.

  • 'Mortal Instruments' Conjures Its Magnus, Jocelyn And Hodge

The streets of author Cassandra Clare's Brooklyn are looking far less deserted thanks to three (!) new additions to the cast of "The Mortal Instruments" movie "City of Bones."

Cassie announced today via her Tumblr that model/actor Godfrey Gao will play magical Magnus Bane, "Game of Thrones" actress Lena Headey will play Jocelyn Fray and "Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows" actor Jared Harris will play Hodge.

The author heaped plenty of praise upon the film's fresh faces:

"Godfrey is, in addition to being all gorgeous and stuff, super-talented (his audition was awesome), loves the books, and is, like Magnus, ridiculously tall," she wrote.

"I have had an actress crush on Lena for years so when they told me she was cast I did a happy dance and hit Sarah Rees Brennan on the head with a spoon," she continued. "Actually I would have done that last bit anyway. Lena is amazing and I think she will be amazing as Jocelyn. I am super psyched."

And, as for Jared, "He's got SAG awards all over the place and I think he'll really nail Hodge's moral dilemma."

The trio join a burgeoning cast, which now includes Lily Collins as Clary, Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace, Robert Sheehan as Simon, Jemima West as Isabelle, and Kevin Durand and Robert Maillet as Valentine's henchmen.

The supernatural movie is set to begin filming next month with an August 2013 release date.

  • 'Vampire Diaries' Adds Grace Phipps

With production beginning just nine days ago on the fourth season of The CW's "Vampire Diaries," it's no surprise casting announcements are whizzing in with bloodsucker-like speed. The latest fresh face coming to Mystic Falls? Grace Phipps is joining the series as 16-year-old April, described as a "natural beauty with a bit of an edge," according to Entertainment Weekly. April is returning to town after the death of her father and is said to have some sort of connection to Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen).

The actress is no stranger to the small-screen having played Amy on the ABC Family series "The Nine Lives of Chloe King." You may also recognize her from the Colin Farrell-starring horror flick "Fright Night."

Grace is the drama's second majoring casting for the upcoming season (which debuts October 11). Last week, the identity of a powerful new vampire hunter was revealed: "In Plain Sight" actor Todd Williams will make his debut in the season's second episode alongside Grace.

  • 5 Things To Do Before Seeing 'The Dark Knight Rises'

    by Jessica Marshall

He's tall. He's dark. He's handsome. He's...BATMAN. And the next chapter of this vigilante's dark adventures in Gotham City unfolds this week. Christian Bale reprises his role as the big black bat in this third and final installment of director Christopher Nolan's Batman franchise, once again donning the perfect six-packed bat suit and delivering his dialogue in that sexy, grunty voice.

This time, Batman is forced out of a self-imposed exile to stop the evil (and insanely well-muscled) terrorist Bane (Tom Hardy) from wiping Gotham from the face of the planet. And if that wasn't enough, he also has to avoid the deadly charms of another good-looking, black-clad super-villain, the nefarious Catwoman (Anne Hathaway). Against those odds, how will our hero save the day?

Going to catch this summer blockbuster? Here are five things to do before seeing "The Dark Knight Rises."

Check out the Batman hotties through history
Several well-built gentlemen have donned the Batsuit and messed around in the Batcave in the last 40-odd years. Starting with "Batman" in 1966, starring then-hunk Adam West (Pow! Thwap! Bam!), and moving through Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and George Clooney all the way to Christian Bale in the most recent retelling, you won't be disappointed by the tight-suited eye candy. You'll even be treated to some hilarious anatomical correctness (bat nipples!) in several of the films.

Watch "Bronson" and "10 Things I Hate About You"
Because it's criminal to go through a whole movie without getting a good look at Tom Hardy's face (mostly hidden behind a giant gas mask-like contraption), pre-game with this biopic about the UK's most famous jailbird, and we promise you will get to see a lot of Tom Hardy. And we're not just talking about his face. And in honor of the fact that Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who plays rookie Gotham cop John Blake, is all growed up (and also in memory of Heath Ledger), take a quick trip back to 1999 when high school was Shakespearean and the bat suit still had nipples.

Vow to be Catwoman for Halloween
Dust off that old sexy kitten costume in the back of your closet and revamp it with a little inspiration from the ferociously feline style of Selina Kyle. "The Devil Wears Prada" star Anne Hathaway rocks the sleek look, which translates onscreen as a perfect blend of classy and super-sexy.

    Become a Steelers fan
Well, if you're a diehard [insert NFL team of choice] fan, we are not expecting you to betray your boys for the sake of one movie. But at least visit Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. The stadium, home to the six-time Super Bowl champ Pittsburgh Steelers, is featured prominently in one of the most visually stunning scenes in the film. Any place that voluntarily submits to getting blown to pieces on screen (it's in the trailer so that's not spoiling anything), and sacrificing one of its star players (Hines Ward), is worth a visit. Also, it's named after a ketchup magnate, so the hot dog condiments are sure to be phenomenal.

    Visit New York City
If there is any city on the planet that most closely resembles the fictional Home of Batman, the Big Apple is it. In fact, the Batman comic canon is so prolific that New York sometimes actually refers to itself as Gotham City. Take a stroll on the streets at night and look to the sky for the bat signal! (But do not stop in the middle of the sidewalk or a Gothamite may snap at you!) Or just enjoy the night lights and the pulse of life in this city of millions.

Bonus: Whip up a BATch of cookies
Find a cookie cutter in the shape of a bat and go to town in your kitchen. Decorate them, or don't decorate them, either way, you can toss the finished product at the super villains in your life like Batman slings his famous Batarang.

Watch every single mention of Batman...ever

  • 'Downton Abbey'! Zooey Deschanel! 'Girls'! Emmy Noms We Love

The only thing that gives us the warm fuzzies more than settling in for an evening with a much-loved TV series? Seeing that series—and its actors—get credit for their achievements with a nod from the Emmy Awards. It's like validation from a higher power that yes, we do, indeed, have excellent taste in television. And with the nominations for this year's Emmys announced this morning, there's a whole lot to be feeling proud about! Check out this rundown of our most-loved nominees:

"Downton Abbey": Looks like we're not the only ones to spend every Sunday night fully ensconced in the Edwardian awesomeness of this upstairs-downstairs drama on PBS. Downton raked in the nominations this year, including Outstanding Drama Series—and favorites Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary), Joanne Froggat (Anna) and Brendan Coyle (the illustrious Mr. Bates) all earned nods for their acting.

"Girls": Lena Dunham is a triple threat this year with nominations for acting, writing, and directing on her hit HBO show, not to mention the great big nod to the show on a whole for Outstanding Comedy Series.

"New Girl": Zooey Deschanel's turn as Jess Day has her in the running for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. And Schmidt better dust off his driving moccasins because alter ego Max Greenfield is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

"Homeland": Claire Danes already took home a Golden Globe for her incredible performance as a bipolar intelligence agent on this bite-your-nails-down-to-bloody-stubs tension-fest of a show, so it's no surprise that she's up for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series at the Emmys.

"Sherlock": The modern retelling of Sherlock Holmes is up for Outstanding Miniseries, and its leading men both earned nods for Actor and Supporting Actor. And if we weren't already planning to tune in for the Emmys, the prospect of seeing Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch taking their bromance to the red carpet would make up our minds right quick.

Click on over to Emmys.com for the entire list!

The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, airs September 23 at 7 p.m. ET.

  • Megan Hilty's On 'Smash' Set For Season 2

    by Meg Malone

Get ready to start humming again soon (or Broadway belting if you are so inclined) because after seeing this tweet from Megan Hilty today, there's some celebrating to be done regarding a certain musical series whose cameras started rolling again today.

We're curious what exactly "up to no good" could mean...in any case, it looks like Megan and Wesley Taylor (who plays Bobby on the show) are already having fun back on set. We declared Megan our "Girl Crush" back in February, so it goes without saying we think she's pretty awesome.

In the "Smash" season finale, Megan's character Ivy tried to sabotage Karen's (Katharine McPhee) chance to shine on stage as Marilyn Monroe. When we last saw Ivy, she was holding a bunch of pills, so while we now know Megan is back on set, we still don't know exactly where her character's storyline will pick up in season two. "Smash" will return midseason, so we have a little while, but you know when it finally comes back, we'll be glued to our TV, ready to find out what happens next.

Are you singing for joy knowing that "Smash" has started filming season two? Let us know in the comments and on Twitter!

  • 'Now And Then' Could Become ABC Family TV Series

If only your Tamagotchi were alive to see this.

The '90s are back in a big way, and you don't have to take our word for it. The Backstreet Boys and No Doubt will be among the first to attest that everything old is new again. And that goes for our favorite movies too.

Variety reports that "Pretty Little Liars" executive producer I. Marlene King is in the early stages of developing her 1995 coming-of-age film "Now and Then" into a TV series for ABC Family.

If you weren't exactly cognizant way back then, let me tell you about this seminal film. "Now and Then" tells the story of a group of four friends—played as adults by Rosie O'Donnell, Melanie Griffith, Demi Moore and Rita Wilson and as teens by Christina Ricci, Thora Birch, Gaby Hoffmann and Ashleigh Aston Moore—who reunite and recall the fateful summer they shared in the early '70s. And in signature Marlene fashion, there's plenty of humor, intrigue and romance. (Call me, Devon Sawa!)

To say this film significantly influenced my 13-year-old self (and made me feel funny, weird things) would not be an overstatement. I mean, there were skinny-dipping boys! (Clearly with a PG-13 rating we didn't see anything, but just the idea! Whoa!) Many, many years later, I had the opportunity to talk with Marlene on the phone, and despite my wearing my Professional Journalist Panties, I couldn't help but gush about how much that movie meant to me. To her credit, Marlene kindly humored my praise and thanked me.

Now, I have no idea what this TV series will look like (or if it will even make it out of development hell alive), but I do know I'll be tuning in if for no other reason than to revisit a tiny slice of my increasingly forgotten teen years. But this time, I'll leave my scrunchie tucked inside my vanity.

  • 'Twilight' Star Billy Burke Recalls 'Emotional' Finale With Kristen Stewart

    by Meg Malone

As excited as we are to finally see Bella in all her vampirific glory when "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2" comes to theaters, we do have that little nagging sadness in the back of our mind that this will also be our final "Twilight" film with the cast we've grown to love. It seems that emotion brought about by "the end" didn't miss the cast either.

At the Entertainment Weekly Comic-Con party, MTV News talked to Billy Burke, who plays Bella's dad, Charlie Swan, and asked him about a scene in the final film where vampire Bella first interacts with her dad in her transformed state. Billy took the time to reflect on what he was feeling during the shoot with Kristen Stewart and their last moments working together.

"Well, first of all, Kristen and I, we've had a great time throughout the entire experience, and that scene in particular, the last episode of the entire saga, was kind of emotional for everybody, and surprisingly so," Billy said. "Nobody really expected that, but as we were doing it, it kind of hits you."

Charlie first welcomed his daughter back to Forks in the first "Twilight" movie, and before we knew it, he was walking her down the aisle in "Breaking Dawn: Part 1" (tissues, please!). His on-screen family has grown with the birth of Bella's daughter, Renesmee, at the end of the last movie.

We wonder if Billy gave Robert Pattinson any advice as Edward Cullen also takes on being a "Twilight" dad and raising an on-screen child in "Breaking Dawn: Part 2"? We'll have to ask next time.

Do you have a favorite moment between Bella and her dad from the "Twilight" films? Let us know in the comments and on Twitter!
