  • 'Vampire Diaries' Stars Preview Return Of Elena's Compelled-Away Memories

Spoilers ahead if you haven't watched the season three finale of "The Vampire Diaries"!

One of the lingering-est of lingering questions following "The Vampire Diaries" season three finale was how Elena's transformation into a bloodsucker would affect her relationships with Damon and Stefan and, more specifically, whether all of her compelled-away memories (including Damon's declarations of love) would return. After all, according to "Vampire Diaries" mythos, compelling effects wear off once one's a vamper.

It's a question we posed to stars Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley when we caught up with them at this year's Comic-Con.

"Elena, luckily, hasn't been compelled too many times, but she definitely has been compelled," Nina explained. "And of course when you become a vampire, all your human compelled memories come back."

Ian and Paul then engaged in a debate as to whether Stefan had ever compelled Elena. "I respect her too much," Paul said cheekily.

    "Damon certainly has," Ian said.

"You just play with her like she's a toy," Paul replied.

"She is a toy," Ian smirked. "Ultimately those things are going to come rushing back. There's a great line in the episode that you'll see that he kind of calls her on it."

    "That's ambiguous," Paul interjected.

"It's a win moment for Damon," Ian continued. "He calls her on it. He knows what's going to happen."

    Now if only we did...

"The Vampire Diaries" fourth season premieres October 11.

  • Would Emma Watson Do Ana Proud In 'Fifty Shades'?

    by Ashleigh Schmitz

Even before Dana Brunetti and Michael De Luca signed on as producers for the big-screen adaptation of the best-selling "Fifty Shades of Grey," casting rumors had been running rampant (check out our staff picks for the lead loves), and at this point it would almost be easier to list who hasn't been speculated for the roles of smokin' hot billionaire Christian Grey and young, innocent Anastasia Steele.

While she hasn't really been on our radar for the role of Ana, rumors recently spread that erstwhile Hermione Granger, Emma Watson, was a front-runner for the part. But just as quickly as the Watson whispers began, they were poo-pooed. Producer Dana took to Twitter, writing: "All of the rumors on #Fifty Shades are just that - rumors. No one has been cast in any role. We have to get a writer and director first."

Yet, Emma has expressed interest in distancing herself from the "Harry Potter" films and taking on more adult roles, like her upcoming "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and especially "Bling Ring." If she wants more mature parts, "Fifty Shades" definitely fits the bill.

How do you feel about the idea of Emma playing Ana? Vote in our poll below!

  • Ashley Greene On Filming 'Apparition': 'It Was A Dark Time'

"The Twilight Saga" might be coming to an end this year, but don't expect the Cullens to shy away from the Hollywood sun when it's over... and particularly not the lovely Ashley Greene, who's parlayed her performance as Edward's psychic sister into a booming career full of role that are a lot more "leading" than "supporting." And in the pages of August's Nylon magazine, the actress is opening up about what's next for her—from headlining the haunted house thriller "The Apparition" to ignoring any suggestions that she'll be post-"Twilight" typecast.

And about that last thing: no, she really doesn't see it happening.

"It's not like, 'Oh, you're the quirky best friend-slash-sister,'" she said. "There's no stereotype with Alice. And she doesn't really look anything like me, with the pixie cut and the white makeup. So to be put in a box, I'd kind of have to do it myself. And I'm not going to do that."

Indeed, Ashley's next project might just give her a totally different sort of status: Scream Queen! "The Apparition" will hit theaters in late August, marking her first foray into purely scary cinematic territory. And according to Ashley, her role as the victim of a malevolent haunting was a much tougher challenge for her than playing the upbeat Alice—especially since she doesn't believe in ghosts.

"That was one of the more difficult aspects, because I try to make everything as realistic as possible; I want to experience what the character is experiencing," she explained. "So to make myself believe there was something after me...it was a dark time."

  • 'Witches Of East End' Eyeing Residence At Lifetime

Witches of East EndIf you're still mourning the tragic demise of The CW's witchy "Secret Circle" series, we may have a magical remedy for you. Deadline reports that Melissa de la Cruz's best-selling novel "Witches of East End" has been optioned by everyone's favorite lady network Lifetime!

"Witches of East End" centers around the Beauchamp family of sorceresses who reside in fictional North Hampton, Long Island. Following the Salem Witch Trials, the women were ordered to no longer use their powers and to, instead, live as mere mortals. Centuries later, though, the women begin dabbling in the mystical arts again, just as mysterious happenings befall their beach-side community. In signature Melissa de la Cruz fashion, the narrative boasts satisfying servings of both supernatural intrigue and saucy romance. On the small screen, we imagine "Witches of East End" as a sort of "Revenge" meets "Eastwick" with just a dash of "Gilmore Girls."

A pilot is expected for 2013.

"Witches of East End" is the first installment in Melissa's magical series, with the second novel, "Serpent's Kiss," debuting back in June.

  • Happy 30th Birthday, Paul Wesley!

    by Ashleigh Schmitz

As fans and followers of all things "Vampire Diaries" we're glad to be included in Paul Wesley's birthday celebrations, at least via this TwitPic of birthday balloons left in Paul's dressing room by his castmates. How sweet!

While these balloons are pretty cool, what better birthday gift than "Vampire Diaries" winning six Teen Choice Awards last night? Even though Paul lost out to on-screen brother Ian Somerhalder for Choice TV Actor: Fantasy/Sci-Fi, being on such a winning show is a big deal—and worth celebrating.

Seeing the cast at the Teen Choice Awards has us ready for new eps. A few weeks ago, Nina Dobrev gave us Tweet Dreams when she wrote about the start of filming for "Vampire Diaries" season four. We can't wait to see Nina's transformation, and what that means for her relationships with Paul's Stefan and Ian's Damon.

Leave your birthday wishes for Paul in the comments!

  • 'Bachelorette' Trailer: Rebel Wilson Engages The Enemy

BacheloretteEver since she stole the show with her all-too-brief appearance as a not-too-bright roommate in "Bridesmaids," we've been dying to see more of Aussie actress Rebel Wilson on the big screen—and now might be the time to start writing a nice little thank-you note to Hollywood for reading our damn minds. Because P.S., she's slated for not one, but two major roles in films releasing this fall.

While we've already talked up her appearance in October's "Pitch Perfect," it's the hilarious mean-girls-grown-up comedy "Bachelorette," about a trio of female jerks who get tapped to serve as bridesmaids in the wedding of a girl they once tormented, that you should keep your eye on; the trailer is out, and it'll be the first of Rebel's films to hit theaters this fall.

Is there anything we don't love about this? Erm, no. Kirsten Dunst and Isla Fisher make absolutely beautiful bitches. Adam Scott and James Marsden look marvelous as badly behaved bros. Lizzy Caplan, who we loved in "Mean Girls," has made the leap from high school obscurity to become a member of the adult Plastics! And Rebel is even showing a little range, getting to work out her more serious side as the straight lady to her snarky compatriots. And with the film (and its writer, the brilliant newcomer Leslye Headland) coming straight off a much-buzzed-about turn at Sundance, we're thinking that "Bachelorette" might just be the darker, dirtier, smarter successor to the lady-driven "Bridesmaids" that we've all been waiting for.

Watch the full trailer at iTunes!

  • 'Pretty Little Liars' Star Sasha Pieterse Teases 'Crazy' Next Episode

Ever since Mona was institutionalized after revealing herself as terrorizing texter A on "Pretty Little Liars," she's been of little help to the four friends as they try to suss out the rest of the A-Team. (I mean, the girl's been practically comatose, after all.) So the fact that Miss Mona might become an ally in Tuesday's episode speaks volumes to just how desperate the girls are for the truth.

"This Tuesday is episode 307. It's called 'Crazy' for a reason and the liars are turning to Mona to figure stuff out, which is dangerous I think," star Sasha Pieterse told Hollywood Crush while at Sunday's Teen Choice Awards. "But we're very excited."

Thankfully, Sasha doesn't seem to be as good of a secret keeper as her alter-ego Ali, because she also let slip a few details about the upcoming mid-season finale. "We just finished shooting the season finale, which is very interesting. It's kind of based around Garrett's murder trial, and we're in the middle of filming the Halloween episode, and Adam Lambert is guest starring, so we're really excited."

Sooo much stuff going on! And even though her character isn't so much alive, Sasha teased that we will be getting some juicy Ali action as the season wears on.

"My character is very interesting, especially in the books," she explained. "There's so much going on with her character, and I think you're going to be diving into her past. I'm excited to see where it's going... Hopefully a little bit of the book in there. I think they're headed in that direction. They're following it a little bit, but it's still very different, but it's enough the same that it's exciting."

Are you pumped for tomorrow's episode? Any thoughts or theories about the mid-season finale? Or is it too early? Tell us everything in the comments and on Twitter!

  • 'Glee' Gains A Puckerman

    Jacob Artistby Ashleigh Schmitz

Enrollment at McKinley High is ramping up! Jacob Artist, whose recent credits include Lifetime's "Blue Lagoon: The Awakening" and "Melissa and Joey," is set to play Jake Puckerman, Puck's half-brother, according to Entertainment Weekly. Jake will try out for New Directions in the season premiere, but his no-good ways could keep him from singing and dancing with the club. (We know what a moralist Mr. Schue can be!)

But Puck's brother isn't the only new student on "Glee." With Rachel traveling to New York City for school, she gets an admirer. Dean Geyer, of "Australian Idol" fame, will join the cast as Brody Weston, an older classmate, who sets his sights on the new girl in town.

Other season four additions include Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson, who are slated to play mentors to Kurt and Rachel. No word yet on whether "American Idol" alum Jessica Sanchez, who had been rumored to be signing on for a mid-season arc, is enrolling at McKinley or NYADA.

"Glee" return on a new night—Thursday!—starting September 13.

  • Jena Malone Really, Officially Playing Johanna Mason In 'Catching Fire,' For Real

Jena MaloneAfter months of being teased and taunted by constant (and constantly evolving) rumors about who would play the role of Johanna Mason in "Catching Fire," we don't blame you if you're feeling just slightly fatigued by seeing another "Hunger Games" casting post come down the pike—but pay attention to this one, little superstars, because we now have an official word on the matter from the Big Daddy of casting news, the holiest of holies and the only source that can't turn around tomorrow and be all, "Just kidding!"

Yep, that's right: Lionsgate, the figurative fat lady in this pre-production opera, is singing loud and proud in our inboxes—and so it was that, on this 23rd day of July in the year 2012, Jena Malone officially stepped in to play the sometimes-nude, always-hardcore Hunger Games champion from District 7.

The news comes after no small amount of speculation and a half-dozen red herrings surrounding the coveted role, but with Jena having been in the mix for weeks as a rumored contender, we've already established that her fierce acting abilities and self-evident butt-kicking skills will make her right at home in the hotly anticipated sequel to "The Hunger Games." And now that that nonsense is finally done, we can return to our regularly scheduled rumor-mongering. Did you guys hear that Michael Cera is in final talks to play Finnick Odair?! ...Just kidding. It's actually Danny Devito. NO FOR REAL.

Are you psyched to see the role of Johanna finally cast, officially? Sound off in the comments and on Twitter!

  • The Evolution Of Christian Bale: A Look Back At 'The Dark Knight Rises' Star's Career In Photos

Over the weekend, fanboys (and girls!) got their first look at the final installment of director Christopher Nolan's epic Batman trilogy. And it was good. Of course, right at the center of "The Dark Knight Rises" is—I think we can all agree—the Best Batman Yet, the brilliant and intense Christian Bale. So, in honor of the film swooping into theaters, let's take a look back at all the things Gotham's hero did before he heeded the call of the Bat Signal.

Christian was born in Wales in 1974, and it didn't take long for him to find his way in front of a camera; by the time he was eight years old, the talented youngster had made his first foray into acting with a fabric softener commercial across the pond. Soon, he was making movies, beginning with a turn opposite Rowan Atkinson and finding his way to fame with his breakout performance in the 1987 film "Empire of the Sun."

It'll come as a surprise to no one that Christian, renowned for his method approach to acting and his seriousness on-set, was a thoughtful kid—and initially, his newfound celebrity status freaked him out so much that he considered quitting the business altogether. But his talent won out; over the next decade, he worked steadily and variably, in roles ranging from a song-and-dance man in the musical "Newsies" to joining the all-star ensemble cast of "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

Christian has never hesitated to take on dark, strange and physically grueling roles—even long before he put on the Batsuit. No longer a precocious kid or energetic teen actor, Christian made a name for himself as a versatile and committed professional who would go to incredible lengths for his work; he chainsawed nude in "American Psycho," showed his sensitive side in "Laurel Canyon," tried his hand at action films with "Reign of Fire" and then shrank to a terrifying 121 pounds for "The Machinist." (As all-over-the-place as Christian's career has been, and despite his growing mega-celebrity, his personal life is remarkably staid; he married model Sandra "Sibi" Blaži? in 2000 and we've heard barely a peep about it since—but considering how great they look together, perhaps discussion is unnecessary.)

And then? Hey, you know the rest: Christian scored the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan's reboot of the franchise, growling his way through two record-shattering blockbuster flicks—pausing only long enough to generate an internet meme for his outburst on the set of "Terminator: Salvation" and then win an Oscar for "The Fighter." And while he'll likely be hanging up the batsuit at the conclusion of "The Dark Knight Rises," there's no doubt that he'll be an actor to watch for a long time to come.

Click on any of the images above to see our entire Evolution of Christian Bale flipbook!

Are you so psyched to see Christian finish off the final chapter in Christopher Nolan's Batman?
