- 'Game Of Thrones' Season Three Cast And Premiere Date Announced
"Game of Thrones" might not have had any new footage to show at San Diego Comic-Con this year, but they did come with two massive announcements. Season three introduces many, many new characters, and showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff came with an (almost) entire listing of the new cast members, as well as the third season release date.
The quick news first: "Game of Thrones" returns to HBO on March 31, 2013. That's pretty much in keeping with the previous two seasons, so there's not much of a surprise there. Still, it's nice to mark a date on the calendar and start our countdowns early.
Now what we've all been waiting for: the casting. We've been dying to know who will be playing new characters like Jojen and Meera, Beric Dondarrion and Brydon Tully, and now we have found out. Read on after the jump to find out who almost all the new actors and actresses will be.
We've said "almost" twice now, and it's about time we explain that. There's no sign of Mance Rayder or Strong Belwas on this list, and it's actually pretty surprising. Belwas we can understand (maybe he's just cut for time reasons), but Mance Rayder is a major, major player in future "Game of Thrones" storylines. Our only explanation is that the folks behind the show are waiting for some big name to portray one of the most interesting and intriguing characters in the story.
Without further ado, here are the actors who will be joining the cast this season in order of how excited we are about them.
Clive Russell will be playing Bryndon "The Blackfish" Tully, Richard Dormer will be playing Beric Dondarrion, Paul Jaye will be Thoros of Myr, Thomas Brodie-Sangster will be Jojen Reed, Ellie Kendirck will be Meera Reed, Diana Rigg will play Lady Olenna Tyrell aka the Queen of Thorns and Tobias Menzies will be Edmure Tully.
Mackenzie Crook will play Orell, Nathalie Emmanuel is Missandei, Kerry Ingram is Shireen Baratheon, Kristofer Hivju is Tormund Giantsbane, Philip McGinley is Anguy, Tara Fitzgerald is Selyse Baratheon and Anton Lesser as Qyburn.
Can it be March 31 already?

Переслать - 'The World's End' Officially Greenlit By Universal
Edgar Wright fans, pay attention. Today we learned three very important things about his upcoming project, "The World's End," and you're going to want to know about them.
Deadline broke the great news that Wright's final installment of his Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy has been greenlit by Universal Pictures. The website also released a teaser poster for the movie and the news that "The World's End" actually won't be about the end of the world.
That's news to us, who were sort of hoping this would be a follow-up to "Shaun of the Dead." While this movie will still likely be a satisfying and relevant finale to Wright's trilogy of comedies, it won't be related to the undead or the apocalypse. Instead, it will follow five friends trying to go on the most epic bar crawl of their life to ultimately reach the pub called The World's End.
"The World's End" will begin shooting in October in the UK, and Wright has long said that he will be doing this project before he ever begins production on "Ant-Man." That being said, there is still time for him to make that announcement during Marvel's "Iron Man 3" panel tomorrow.
Here's the official synopsis of "The World's End," courtesy of Deadline.
"The film starts 20 years after five childhood friends attempted an epic pub crawl. The friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World's End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind's. Reaching The World's End is the least of their worries."

Переслать - Comic-Con: How To Score 'Django Unchained'
If you're out at San Diego Comic-Con, you may have already seen some outlaws walking around in jeans, cowboys hats, and some cool looking "Django Unchained" shirt. Well, these people hold a secret that can result in you scoring one of their snazzy t-shirts.
To get your hands on a special Comic-Con "Django Unchained" shirt, all you have to do is give any of the outlaws the secret code, "The D is silent." If you do that, they will give you a coin that you can redeem for a shirt.
Then head over to "Django City" next to Petco Park to collect your shirt. That's all you have to do.
Stay with MTV Movies Blog for the rest of Comic-Con. We'll bring you a report Saturday from the "Django Unchained" panel.
Переслать - Comic-Con: 'ParaNorman' Panel Reveals 'Ghostbusters' Inspiration
FROM MTV GEEK: The minds and voices behind the stop-motion 3D zombie comedy "ParaNorman" took the stage at San Diego Comic-Con to talk about the August release.
Travis Knight, Producer and CEO of animation studio Laika was joined by Sam Fell and Chris Butler (also the film's writer), directors of ParaNorman, along with actors Kodi Smit-McPhee (Norman), Anna Kendrick (Courtney), Christopher Mintz Plasse (Alvin) to talk about the movie.
Butler says that he's been working on the script for the movie or developing it in some way or another over the last 16 years, with actual production starting three years ago. Inspired by Goonies, Ghostbusters, Butler says the central concept was "John Carpenter meets John Hughes" as a zombie movie for kids.
The story, told in stop-motion (my absolute favorite animation medium, by the way), follows Norman Babcock, a young outcast who can see and hear ghosts. When he learns that an evil witch is going to raise the dead in his small town, he'll have to band together with his friend (singular) and enemies to save everyone. The first scene that we saw came from the second act and involved Norman attempting to read from a book that would prevent the rise of the dead. Interrupted by Alvin (who he bumped into earlier on his bike), Norman and his bully are stuck in the graveyard as the zombies start popping out the ground.

Переслать - Reese Witherspoon to Produce Big-Screen Adaptation of 'Gone Girl'
By Meg Malone
Gillian Flynn's latest novel is getting the big screen treatment. Deadline reported that Flynn's "Gone Girl" has been acquired by 20th Century Fox for an undisclosed seven-figure sum.
That's a big chunk of change, and there's also already a big name producer attached. According to Deadline, Reese Witherspoon will produce the project along with Bruna Papandrea and Leslie Dixon. "Gone Girl" is Flynn's third book, and Deadline notes that her other two works ("Dark Places" and "Sharp Objects") are in film development already. Talk about an awesome track record.
"Gone Girl" is centered around the disappearance of Amy Dunne on the fifth anniversary of her marriage, leaving her husband, Nick, as the most likely suspect. In her review of the novel in the New York Times back in May, Janet Maslin wrote: "It is wily, mercurial, subtly layered and populated by characters so well imagined that they're hard to part with — even if, as in Amy's case, they are already departed."
With a glowing review like that, it's hard not to get excited about what "Gone Girl" could look like on the big screen. Readers have already been checking out Flynn's book, securing "Gone Girl" a number one spot on the New York Times' Hardcover Fiction Best Sellers list as Deadline pointed out. Perhaps the story may find itself one day making it to number one at the box office as well.

Переслать - Comic-Con: Ten Things We Learned At The Disney Panel
By Ryan Gowland
Disney's panel at the SDCC got off to a late start - the flood of tears and other bodily fluids had to be cleaned up after the "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2" panel finished up. Once it commenced, all in attendance at Hall H were treated to clips, trailers or footage from "Frankenweenie," "Oz The Great and Powerful," "Wreck-it-Ralph" and, in a closing surprise, "The Lone Ranger."
Here's everything we learned.
1. "The Lone Ranger" trailer stole the show
Despite all the recent news of budget overruns and other set issues, the trailer for "The Lone Ranger" owned in Hall H. Given no introduction, the crowd were treated to images of trains with a voice-over discussing that the technological marvel offered great power to whomever controls it. Once Johnny Depp was shown from behind and his voice was heard, the crowd lost their collective minds. The pace was fast and frenetic, with trains falling off its rails, people getting shot and a little boy tossing a lone silver bullet into the air. Though it's been some time since the Lone Ranger rode into cinemas, it looks like audiences will be ready.2.Tim Burton thinks "Frankenweenie" is the "Perfect" Disney movie
Originally a live-action short that was supposed to air before the re-release of "Pinocchio" in 1984, "Frankenweenie" eventually got Burton dismissed from Disney. Almost 30 years later, Disney is releasing Burton's 3-D animated version instead. "People forget that Disney films were founded on stuff that's got heart and stuff that's a bit scary, so, to me, it's the perfect Disney movie," Burton told the crowd. The crowd seemed to agree while watching the clips, which included a classroom scene taught by new science teacher Mr. Rzykruski (voiced by Martin Landau) who loudly and passionately discusses how lightning is energy, and a clip where young Victor brings a goldfish back to life to keep his friend from spilling his secrets.
3. "Frankenweenie" was inspired by Tim Burton's dead dog.
Explaining where he got his inspiration for "Frankenweenie," Burton revealed that he movie "stemmed from having a dead dog when I was a child, and that special first relationship you have with a pet" that he then mixed with "monster movies and 'Frankenstein' and those stories." Burton said that many of the strange classmate character that Victor interacts with were based on kids he went to school with while growing up in Burbank, CA.4. 'Oz The Great and Powerful' isn't the prequel to 'Wizard of Oz' you may be expecting
With no trailer released yet (the beautiful trailer was shown during the panel and subsequently released online), there's been little indication as to how much "Oz The Great and Powerful" will directly tie into "The Wizard of Oz." While the trailer, like the original 1939 film, starts in black and white and changes to color once James Franco crash lands his balloon, Raimi says that there won't be as many similarities as some might expect. "Mitchell Kapner, the original writer of the screenplay, took the Baum books and gathered different information that Baum had written about the character of Wizard from the second, third, and fourth Oz books and then he put them in chronological order and made up the rest based on his imagination," said Raimi of what inspired the film. "So it's really based on the book and it nods lovingly toward the 1939 great classic 'Wizard of Oz.'"So, for those expecting ruby slippers and the Tin Man or Cowardly Lion, you might be disappointed. "Those characters are not a part of this picture actually," Raimi said. "Because this takes place before 'The Wizard of Oz' book and the movie takes place." However, Raimi says that by the end of film, audiences will have "one interpretation of how it all came to be."
5. A classic will remain a classic Raimi trademark
Since his first film, The Evil Dead, Raimi has included his yellow, 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 (nicknamed "The Classic") in each and every one of his movies and "Oz The Great and Powerful" will be no exception. Raimi revealed that the car will be playing a "very challenging role" in the film and has really "altered its appearance" for the movie. "Parts of its engine block and part of its cam shaft was used to play another role," explained Raimi.6. No "Shadow" for Raimi
Raimi has been working for years on an adaptation of the pulp hero The Shadow, who was serialized on radio in the 1930s and unceremoniously brought to the big screen in 1994, but, it doesn't look like those years have yielded a filmmable product. "I've been a big fan of the pulp series for many years, but we never got the screenplay just right," Raimi explained. "We had some really good screenplays, but nothing that I thought really nailed the character and that's why we didn't proceed."7. Wreck-It-Ralph Surprised with Greatness
The biggest question mark of the panel had to be director Rich Moore's animated 'Wreck-It-Ralph.' A promising trailer was released in June, but Moore delivered by offering 10 minutes of hilarious (if unfinished) footage from the movie, which started by introducing Wreck-It-Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly), the villain in a "Rampage"-esque video game called "Fix-It Felix Jr." who's tired of playing the bad guy to Felix (voiced by Jack MacBrayer) after 30 years. Ralph's therapy-session-for-video-game-villains scene from the trailer was also included in the footage, as well as a scene where Felix is caught inside first person shooter "Hero's Duty" and meets Sergeant Calhoun (voiced by Jane Lynch) and another where video game glitch Vanellope von Schweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman) makes plenty of "dooty" jokes at Ralph's expense when they discuss Ralph's trip to "Hero's Duty." The film should be a real treat for gamers, particularly those that grew up on Atari or Nintendo consoles and can truly appreciate game character cameos like Bowser and Q*Bert.8. No Mario and Luigi in 'Wreck-it-Ralph'
While the footage revealed plenty of cameos, particularly when Ralph walks through Grand Central Terminal, which takes video game characters to different games, but there's some characters that won't make a cameo. "Why would I talk about that certain mustachioed plumber guy," said Moore during the Q&A. "And his brother, who wanted more money?"Still, as Reilly pointed out, it wasn't too difficult to get other characters to agree to show up. "Just imagine you're the 'Frogger' guy, you're sitting at home," Reilly said. "You made 'Frogger.' It's a game about a frog that crosses the road. It's not that popular anymore. A phone call comes in from Rich Moore: 'We're making a multi-million dollar Disney movie; can Frogger be in it?' It's a pretty easy answer."
9. Fan Favorite Alan Tudyk will voice a character, and Skrillex will help score 'Wreck-It-Ralph'
The news is probably all over Twitter, as Moore told everyone to tweet the news that Alan Tudyk ("Serenity") will voice King Candy, likely the ruler of the game "Sugar Rush," home of Vanellope.
Meanwhile, on the soundtrack front, Moore also revealed that electronic artist Skrillex will "provide the musical soundtrack for the world of 'Hero's Duty," another invented video game in "Wreck-It-Ralph"10. Voicing an animated movie is, in fact, harder than it might seem.
While Chris Rock famously mentioned that doing vice work in movies is not a difficult job during the Academy Awards, Reilly countered that by saying that working on "Wreck-It-Ralph" was " actually a really engaging process" and that "we did a lot of improvisation." The actor quipped, "You don't have to worry about how you look, that's one cool thing."What got you the most excited? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter!
Переслать - 'Breaking Dawn: Part 2' Conquers Comic-Con
"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 2" started Comic-Con off with a bang Thursday, and we were there to capture most of it.
The stars of the film stopped by MTV News headquarters in full force for our two hour live stream, and they dished plenty of fun teases for the upcoming movie. Kristen Stewart in particular said that she was most excited to finally be playing a vampire, and Robert Pattinson agreed that she did a great job in her role.
"You're used to vampires behaving a certain way, [but] it feels fresh for her," he said. "And just seeing the little differences, what she decided to do with the transformation [is interesting]."
Stewart said that she is most looking forward to fans seeing the scene where she goes on her first hunt as a vampire. Appropriately, Summit played that scene among others during their Hall H presentation, and it was as great as Stewart had promised. Though it's a bit different than the way the sequence played out in the book, it does end with Bella killing a mountain lion, so needless to say it's pretty freaking badass.
This isn't the first we've seen of the "Twilight" stars this convention. Wednesday night they showed up to surprise the fans waiting in line for their panel and hung around for a bit.
"It's an incredible feeling," Jackson Rathbone said. "I just had this really wonderful girl from Hawaii hand me a gift bag and very sincerely with tears in her eyes said, 'Thank you for the last five years.' That kind of hit home. It's been five years of making all of these people happy with these films and these characters that they've really come to love. It just fills my heart with gratitude."
The stars also opened up about the death of "Twilight" fan Gisela Gagliardi several days before in San Diego.
"The great thing about our fans is that they're such a unit, and they're so supportive of each other. You can really see the love when you see them in groups together," Ashley Greene said. "I think they should keep on doing what they're doing and love and support each other and look at things as positively as possible. I think that everyone is giving their thoughts and love to her and her family."

Переслать - 'Oz The Great And Powerful Trailer' Finally Arrives
By Meg Malone
Just as we hoped after seeing the debut poster last week, we didn't have to wait too long to get a closer look at director Sam Raimi's upcoming film, "Oz: The Great and Powerful." Disney released the trailer yesterday, and based on what's here, Raimi's take on author L. Frank Baum's imagined world is certainly captivating.
After an opening sequence in black and white (which side note, but does it remind anyone else a bit of scenes from last year's "Hugo," with the early-days-of-film look and magician content?), Oscar Diggs (James Franco) takes the next tornado to Oz, and that's when things get really intriguing.
For all the dusty gray in the original poster, the trailer doesn't hold back on stunning visuals once Diggs makes it into Emerald City territory. The rich colors pop right off the screen, from the crystal blue sky to the lush botanical surroundings to mysterious little creatures that remind me of those things Lockhart unleashed on Harry and company in class one day in "Chamber of Secrets" (anybody?).
This is our first chance to not only get acquainted with the Raimi-Oz world, but also to really see the characters. No longer do we need to squint at the poster to see James Franco there in his balloon, but also we get to see the three witch sisters played by Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz. We'll probably get to learn even more about their characters in the future, but to continue with the visual emphasis, it's worth noting that their costumes are definitely worth getting excited over. From from that giant hat Kunis wears when we first see her to that gorgeous white dress that Williams dons as Glinda, it'll be great to see how the rest of Oz is also outfitted.
Finally, the inside the cyclone shot has solidified my fear of both hot-air balloons and tornados, so may I suggest finding another mode of transportation to the theater when "Oz: The Great and Powerful" is released on March 8, 2013.
