- Star Spotting: Coco's Still Got Back, Lest You Forgot (PHOTO)
Hey! Eyes up here!
In this ever-changing world of software upgrades and too many "Somebody That I Used to Know" remixes to keep track of, it's nice to see that some things never change: like the reliability of the internet to proffer photos of Coco's enduring rear end. Three cheers for technology, ya scamp!
The reality TV star (and wife to rapper Ice-T) was photographed leaving the BCC Radio studios, where she gave London a memorable reminder of her biggest asset. And while we'd like to go all day with bun puns (zing!) and pondering where girl buys such fanny-friendly pants, we actually contemplate more about who's the most bootylicious lady in the world: Coco or Nicki Minaj? Let's just make this official: We declare a Nicki Versus Coco Booty-Off! We're not exactly sure what that contest would involve, but just add it to all the gazillions of other incredibly odd things the internet (and by that we mean Buzzfeed) should document.

Переслать - Watch Out, Or Adam Levine Might Punch You In The Face
Maybe take a deep yoga breath, mmkay, Adam?
Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has some strict views on your musical taste. Specifically, he'd like to punch you in the face if you're the type of person who only listens to one type of music. The singer, "The Voice" judge and serial model-dater just released his new album, Overexposed, and he recently told "The Sun" "People who tell me they only like one kind of music, I want to punch them in the face." Adam also thinks music "scenes" are a thing of the past. Adam elaborated, "Everything is too splintered now. There's no scene. At some point there's going to have to be some scene that comes back."
Whoa there, Adam. Variety IS the spice of life. We appreciate you urging others to explore, but some people have yet to cultivate a pu pu platter of musical taste and may have, say, a "Call Me Maybe" period that eats up a full six months. Big deal! Imma do me, you do you. Violence is NEVER the way, Adam. And you probably wouldn't be throwing punches who only listen to Maroon 5. Amirite? Now harness some of those deep yoga breaths, and let it go... There... Namaste.

Переслать - New Song: Eyes Lips Eyes, 'Don't Blow It'
Eyes Lips Eyes: eight eyes, four lips, one big party.
More cowbell? Eyes Lips Eyes will do that. The Utah-turned-L.A. quartet's "Don't Blow It" is a wild indie rock dance party... which was, in fact, mostly recorded during an actual dance party in their downtown warehouse. The band's Friday-night-in-late-July vibes definitely come through on the new track, which sounds like the B-52s had a few frozen drinks and played spin the bottle with The Rapture and then crashed James Murphy's DJ set on the S.S. Coachella.
Guitarist Spencer Peterson drops squiggly lead lines over Aaron Hatch and Thomas Carroll's thumping rhythm section, while singer Tony Hello gets hilariously mock-dramatic: "It's not too late to exfoliate!" he yelps. (That's exactly what we always say!) It's kinda nice to hear an indie act that trades too-cool-for-school seriousness in for hand claps and a sick bass line. Eyes Lips Eyes: definitely not blowing it.
The band's What You Want (If You Want) EP lands Aug. 21 on Roll Call Records/ILG, with a full-length expected in 2013. "Don't Blow It" should pretty much handle your party jam needs until then.

Переслать - On The Enduring Legacy Of The Legendary Danity Kane
Hey Pop Thinkers! I'm Sam Lansky, OG Making the Band Stan, and this is my column,"Pop Think." This week we're going back through time to meditate upon the legacy of The Most Important Musical Group Of All Time (besides Pussycat Dolls) -- the inimitable girl group Danity Kane, the members of which have since scattered to various corners of the sonicverse with varying degrees of success.
But things are looking up for several of Danity Kane's members, with Aubrey O'Day wrapping up production on the video for her refreshingly strong single "Wrecking Ball," and an out-of-this-world gorgeous new track from Dawn Richard — plus a recent club banger from D. Woods. The legacy of Danity Kane lives on, y'all, and my heart may be damaged without them, but they might just turn out to be more powerful as solo stars than they were as a band.
Danity Kane in the glory days of 2006, the way I like to remember them.
Confession time, you guys: I miss Danity Kane. And I know I'm not alone in this sentiment. The girls, who were dazzling and ephemeral as fireworks in the night sky (this is emotional for me, okay?), may have only released two albums before they broke up in 2009, but they still get a ton of play 'round these here iTunes. (Anyone who doesn't think that "Damaged" is one of the best pop songs of the last ten years needs to see a doctor.) But even if their music never commanded a ton of critical respect, the girl group formed on MTV's "Making the Band 3" had attitude and showmanship for days, and that's paying off now that the girls have gone their separate ways.
Read more about the vital importance of Danity Kane after the jump.
Aubrey was the breakout star from the group, so it stands to reason that she'd have the easiest road pursuing a solo career, and to some extent, that's been true -- her own reality show, a spot on "Celebrity Apprentice," a record deal, and a series of singles have kept her in the spotlight. Aubrey's last single, "Wrecking Ball," is a killer pop-rock cut, and sshe's now gearing up (at long last!) to release the video for the single, which looks promising based on the behind-the-scenes footage.
For her part, D. Woods has also stayed pretty busy, appearing in music videos and working in the studio. Her 2009 jam "Legalize Me," from her EP The Gray Area, was a memorably chilly R&B track. And her latest single, "2 the Bottom," is a certifiable club banger that sees D. Woods spitting rhymes like Twista over a sinister bass line.
To my surprise, though, the group's shining-est talent may just turn out to be Dawn Richard, who maintained a friendly enough relationship with Diddy to be invited into his follow-up group, Diddy-Dirty Money, alongside fellow R&B chanteuse Kalenna. The group was also short-lived but brilliant — their wild, overstuffed, deliriously enjoyable 2010 debut album was a stunner, and just try not to dance to a song like "Ass On The Floor" or "Hello, Good Morning."
But after hitting pause for a minute, Dawn absolutely blew me away this week with her new track, "Pretty Wicked Things," a haunting swirl of influences with ambient piano chords set to minimalist trance collapses into chaotic dubstep. Sonically, it's the most sophisticated thing I've heard from any of the Danity Kane ladies -- a standout track for sure, and one that bodes well for her upcoming full-length LP, Goldenheart.
The other two members of the group have gone in other directions: Shannon Bex may have not garnered much attention for her country single "I'm Out," and Aundrea Fimbres claims she's out of the business for good. Still, I'm stoked to see these ladies keeping the dream alive, showstoppin' as ever.

Переслать - POSTED: Walk The Moon Are Totally Into Carly Rae Jepsen, Too! (VIDEO)
Walk The Moon caught "Call Me Maybe" fever.
Our favorite thing about summer so far (besides air conditioning)? Walk The Moon as the MTV POSTED artist for July! All month long we're following the band in exclusive videos and interviews at POSTED.MTV.com. So slap on your face paint guys, 'cause it's time to learn even more about the "Anna Sun" artists.
This may be surprising, but they don't just listen to their own self-titled album on repeat (like we do). In fact, they are into major pop summer jams from the likes of Carly Rae Jepsen! Stars: they're just like us!
+ Watch Walk The Moon talk about new musical obsessions after the jump!
While the "Next In Line" singers are totally our music idols (which other band supports drawing on yourself ?), the guys dish on some newfound musical inspirations of their own -- like summer sensation Carly Rae Jepsen. The band's frontman, Nicholas Petricca, explains that they didn't know who the "Call Me Maybe" singer really was until their tour manager introduced the popular song. We're guessing they've been SUPER busy while on tour with fun. not to have caught the gazillion parodies of the hit.
The guys continue to mention other artists they dig, like Mother Mother and Robyn (both also on our fave list), but we just can't stop imagining a killer Carly Rae and Walk The Moon mash-up -- "Call Me Anna" anyone? Just a thought.

Переслать - New Song: Go Radio, 'Collide'
Go Radio's "Collide" delivers all the "woah-oh-ohs" you'll need this summer.
Go Radio finally released their brand-new song, "Collide," and it feels like stepping into a boxing ring with the pros: the track's electric guitars hit like Manny Pacquiao jabs, while singer/guitarist Jason Lancaster belts like a heavyweight. "There was a fire / There could be one again," he sings, before adding, "I won't let you burn out tonight." Metaphors! (Kinda like the boxing one we just used!) With his gruff vocals and soaring whoa-oh-ohs that back the chorus, the song's midway between Say Anything-style punk, needtobreathe's alt-country bent, and Kings of Leon's rugged, stadium-ready rock.
Listen To Go Radio's "Collide" after the jump.
The Florida group's released two EPs, Welcome To Life and Do Overs And Second Chances, since forming in 2008, so anticipation is high for Go Radio's debut album -- high enough for the rockers to score 20,000 Facebook shares from fans to unlock the "Collide" stream. (To quote Tenacious D, "That's f***ing teamwork!") The band's buzz is no surprise: Lancaster used to play in Mayday Parade, so dude's been impressing us for years.
Go Radio's toured with Yellowcard and Silverstein, among others, driving an eco-friendly tour van they've dubbed the Rock-It Ship that saved them an estimated $2,000 in gas money (and sticking it to global warming) on their recent jaunt from Orlando to L.A. Al Gore would be proud.
Go Radio's next album, Close the Distance, drops Sept. 18 on Fearless Records.

Переслать - New Video: Nelly Furtado, 'Spirit Indestructible'
Nelly Furtado attends a drum circle in her "The Spirit Indestructible" video.
We've become re-obsessed with Nelly Furtado ever since she validated our love for extra-large hoop earrings. Now, we're also having a full-on love affair with her brand-new "Spirit Indestructible" video. Expertly produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, the song speaks to Nelly's perseverance, and the nature-set video caters perfectly to the song's overall message of unbreakable strength.
Watch Nelly Furtado's "Spirit Indestructible" video after the jump.
At the top of the clip, Nelly takes the stage for an intimate performance before she's magically transported to a beautiful snow-covered mountaintop in Vancouver where she soaks up the stunning surroundings. Nelly then switches into a sick gold leather jacket and leads a large group of shirtless drummer men to a beach, where they proceed to have a giant drum circle. (I love a good drum circle. Should I not have shared that?) After some hardcore drumming and a beachside bonfire, Nelly ends up back atop the mountain. The snow has melted away, and just as she stands victorious, she turns into dust. And sure, we totally appreciate the "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" metaphor, but it's a damn shame to waste all that hotness! I mean where did that gold leather jacket go, for example?

Переслать - Justin Bieber Got ANOTHER New Tattoo, And It's A Japanese Symbol For 'Music' (PHOTO)
Justin Bieber adds a Japanese symbol to his ink inventory.
We hate to admit this, but the more Justin Bieber gets tatted up, the more
we're attracted to himwe think of him as a MAN! Carrying himself like an adult is the focus of Justin Bieber's August 2012 "Rolling Stone" cover story, and his latest tattoo only helps his cause. And this isn't Justin's first time at the tattoo rodeo either: Justin's tattoo tally includes a real "Believe" tattoo, a fake one courtesy of a sharpie marker, a giant Jesus tattoo on his calf, and Hebrew letters he got with his dad. But, Justin's latest acquisition has nothing to do with his chart-topping album or his religion but rather his love of music in general. Inked in a small section of his right arm, Justin's new tattoo is a reportedly the Japanese Kanji symbol for "music." This may explain why Justin Bieber was wearing a full-on "The Karate Kid" outfit in Japan the other week. (Also, I'm personally relieved it's that and not a whimsical attempt at an electrical plug.)
While we're sure some Belieber moms might not be too thrilled with his increasing ink inventory, we say you're a man now, it's a free country, and we support an individual's right to put whatever they want anywhere they want on their body, as long as it's not this dolphin tattoo. And also, we're suuuper into musician dudes with full sleeves. Especially when they're named Adam Levine. In case that motivates you in any way.

The "Give Your Heart A Break" singer was snapped yesterday as she took the stage at the famed Greek Theater in Los Angeles. Also on the bill were Neon Hitch and Demi's North American tourmates, Owl City. No disrespect to Adam Young or Neon Hitch, but judging by Demi's sparkly tights (want!) and professional hair flipping, we're gonna go right ahead and say we think Demi probably rocked hard enough for the entire bill. And did we mention that her sparkly tights came with a matching studded bra top? You're welcome.
