Переслать - 'Dark Knight Rises': The Cast's Best Films
Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight Trilogy" always had the benefit of a brilliant ensemble cast, pulling from some of the best actors working today.
In preparation for "The Dark Knight Rises," we're taking a look back at some of the cast's best films.
Christian Bale - "The New World"
Unfairly considered the film that people forgive Terrence Malick for, "The New World" mixes the director's visually poetic style with a story older than our nation. Colin Farrell starts the film off as Captain John Smith and the lead of the film, but the movie then shifts its focus to Q'orianka Kilcher as Pocahontas and her relationship with John Rolfe, played by Bale, who fits easily into just about any time period. "The New World" comes with all the trappings of a Malick movie: stunning imagery, a dreamlike voice-over, and feelings that will stay with you long after the movie ends.Anne Hathaway - "Rachel Getting Married"
Hathaway earned her first—but unlikely her last—Academy Award nomination for her role as a recovering drug addict in Jonathan Demme's examination of an unusual wedding. After ten years in and out of drug rehab programs, Hathaway's Kym may finally have found a cure. Her one-day pass for her sister's wedding results in an emotional look at the life of a family and the different kinds of relationships that come with it.Joseph Gordon-Levitt - "Brick"
Rian Johnson's "Brick" takes the characters and tropes of a pre-war film noir (think Bogart) and transplants them, almost entirely intact, into a California public high school. The result is an experiment in genre that takes some adjusting to but delivers a familiar story in a completely fresh way. "Brick" made a strong argument for Gordon-Levitt's potential as a leading man and helped form the friendship between actor and director that led to their most recent collaboration, "Looper."Tom Hardy - "Bronson"
Hardy's physical transformation for Bane in "The Dark Knight Rises" brings him back to the massive size he reached for Nicolas Winding Refn's hallucinatory story of the UK's most notorious inmate, Charles Bronson. The visuals and storytelling styles of "Bronson" make Refn's most recent film, "Drive," seem conventional by comparison, and Hardy's career took off after this film became a hit within festival circles and art house theaters.Gary Oldman - "JFK"
Oliver Stone's conspiratorial, factually-dubious retelling of the Kennedy assassination is a masterwork of filmmaking. Regardless of the history behind the story, Stone examines the paranoia and unrest of the era in a way that transcends "accuracy," yet feels honest throughout. Oldman does his part, turning in one of his career's best performances as Lee Harvey Oswalt that is equal parts terrifying and intriguing. What's your favorite movie featuring a "Dark Knight Rises" cast member? Переслать - 'Looper' Official Website Just As Twisty As Trailers
By Meg Malone
Yes, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be coming to theaters this weekend as John Blake in "The Dark Knight Rises," but we're already looking forward to meeting his character, Joe, when "Looper" hits theaters in September.
The official website for "Looper" is now up and running (thanks to ComingSoon.net for the tip!) and clicking "Enter the Site" conjures up an interactive layout that's as mind-bendy-cool as the movie's time-travel premise. If you're not yet caught up to speed on the plot, basically Gordon-Levitt's character is a "looper," who does hits for the future-dwelling mob by killing individuals they send back in time to him. Things get real messy though when the target that gets sent back — and he lets escape — is his future self (as played by Bruce Willis).
By continuously scrolling up or down on the interactive site, you are transported in different directions throughout the numerous sections. Various images of clocks, maps and gun smoke provide scenery connecting each one as you meander through to the sounds of a haunting, ominous soundtrack. Different components fold in on themselves and expand as you scroll — if that doesn't entirely make sense, you just have to go try and take a look for yourself. Alternatively, if you are easily confused like myself, a handy menu button in the top left corner can direct you in a more streamlined fashion.
There's a whole host of information to scan through including the usual fare, like a synopsis, trailers and some still images. For those trying to brush up on the Looper-universe, there's also some lingo definitions peppered throughout the site and some games that are supposed to be up and running in the near future. Perhaps the most intriguing thing though is the option to enter the "Looper Network" if you scroll to the ends of the site. If you click "Join Now", you will see that this part of the site is also coming soon, but color us intrigued because I am definitely feeling beckoned to "Access The Future" and I assume get some kind of firsthand look at Looper life.
Both Gordon-Levitt and Willis have spoken highly about writer-director Rian Johnson and the film in general, so between the positive cast chatter and some info on "Looper" from the Sony Panel at Comic-Con this past weekend, the anticipation for this film at Movies Blog is running high.
You can bet we'll be refreshing the official website so once the "Looper Network" opens, we can go all in. "Looper" opens on September 28.

Переслать - Bond-a-Thond #6: 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' (1969)
For the next 22 weeks, MTV Movies Blog will be running what we call the Bond-a-Thond. Every Wednesday we're taking a look back at a single (official) Bond film, giving you the vitals and seeing how it holds up, right up until the release of "Skyfall" on November 9. Feel free to watch along with us and share your thoughts or just kick back and enjoy the Bond.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
Plot: After his first face-to-face run-in with Blofeld, Bond tracks the SPECTRE mastermind to the Swiss alps, where he plots to once again hold the world at randsom.
Title Meaning: Bond briefly takes a leave from MI6, but returns by the end of the film.
Bond: Australian model George Lazenby, making his only appearance as 007
Villain: Telly Savalas, TV's Kojak, replaces Donald Pleasance, as Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
Bond Girl: Contessa Teresa "Tracy" di Vicenzo, daughter of Marc-Ange Draco, head of the Unione Corse crime syndicate
"Bond, James Bond" Occurrences: 0
Martinis: 2
Card Games: 1
Cigarettes Smoked: 1
Explosions: 6
Tuxes Worn: 2
Kills By Bond: 5
Most Creative Kill: Though technically not a kill by Bond, one skiing henchmen falls in front of an industrial snow blower while purusing 007. The result is a quip from Bond, "He had a lot of gut," and the most graphic image of the series to date.
Gadgets: "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" stands out as the rare early Bond film that is both light on kills and almost devoid of gadgets.
Mental State of Miss Moneypenny: Sorrowful
Sexual Partners: 3 (Tracy, Ruby, anonymous Angel of Death)
First Occurrence of Sex: 18 minutes in
Most Unrealistic Moments: The final chase with Blofeld occurs on two bobsleds.
Most "Bond" Moments: Bond essentially lays waste to an entire group of shelterd allergy patients called the "Angels of Death." One even goes up his kilt during dinner to write her room number on his thigh.
Sign of the Times: Please refer to the picture below.
Place in Bond History: "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" marks the first series entry without Sean Connery in the lead. The only reference to the change to Lazenby comes during the opening sequence, when Bond seemingly breaks the fourth wall and says, "This never happened to the other fellow."
Review: It's fitting that the biggest shake-up in the James Bond formula coincides with the first changing of the guards in the title role. Just as Connery began to look too old for the role and the MI6 sets started to resemble cheap television productions, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" casts a significantly younger actor as Bond and director Peter R. Hunt opens the film in dark tones and amped up action.
That isn't to say the series lost any ounce of camp. Lazenby wears enough lace to decorate a nursery, but a renewed sense of drama and spectacles makes "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" the most watchable Bond since "Goldfinger."
The timing on the film's release should be taken into consideration when discussing the tonal shift. "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" was the first Bond film after "The Graduate" and "Bonnie and Clyde" changed mainstream cinema in 1967. The effect of those two films is felt the strongest in this movie's pitch black ending, one of the darkest of the series.
The Bond-a-Thond will return next week in "Diamonds Are Forever."

Переслать - '21 Jump Street' Sequel To Begin Filming In The Fall
If you've seen "21 Jump Street," then you probably already know why a sequel was put into development before the movie even hit theaters. Now we have the news that this year's hit comedy will have a follow-up start filming before the year's end.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned from Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad that the plan is to start shooting "21 Jump Street 2" in the fall. That's actually great news, because we're definitely looking forward to seeing Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill's slightly incompetent cops be good at what they do for once.
When we spoke to co-screenwriter Michael Bacall back in March, he said that he was already in meetings developing a good concept for a sequel.
"All I can really say is that I'm working on it. I met with Jonah and Channing and all the producers and executives and yeah, we're looking to get it going as quickly as possible. I'm about to start the draft," he said. "I think if you've watched ['21 Jump Street'], by the end you'll have a pretty good idea where the sequel takes place."
Becall did promise that there would be more high profile cameos in this movie, but we wouldn't expect Johnny Depp to make another one (you know, considering he died after his reveal in "21 Jump Street"). Or if there is, expect it to be freaking awesome.

Переслать - Robin Williams To Play President Eisenhower In 'The Butler'
Robin Williams is headed to the White House.
ComingSoon.net is reporting that the comedian is going to be playing President Dwight D. Eisenhower in Lee Daniels' upcoming movie "The Butler." Just when we thought that cast couldn't get more impressive, it did.
"The Butler" has already earned plenty of media interest because Oprah Winfrey has signed on for a role. But the rest of the cast is similarly prestigious. Forest Whitaker, Alan Rickman, John Cusack, Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jane Fonda, David Oyelowo, Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Redgrave, Colman Domingo and Minka Kelly are all confirmed for parts in the movie.
The film chronicles the real-life story of Eugene Allen, a butler who worked under eight presidents in the White House beginning with Harry Truman in 1952 and ending with Ronald Reagan in 1986. Williams is just the latest to join the president's club in this movie, as it has already been reported that Rickman will play Reagan and Cusack will play Richard Nixon, while Fonda will play Nancy Reagan and Kelly will play Jackie Kennedy. The movie will be based on Wil Haygood's report, "A Butler Well Served by This Election."
"The Butler" is set to begin filming later in July in New Orleans. Hopefully the other five presidents will be cast soon, because we can't wait to see which of our favorite actors will be sent to the Oval Office.

Переслать - Watch The Most Batman-y Batman Supercut Ever!
Have you ever noticed that Batman really likes to say his own name? How many times has he sneaked up on a thug, only to reveal himself and then say, "I'm Batman"? You'd think the cape, cowl, and rubber suit would have been enough to give it away.
To celebrate the release of "The Dark Knight Rises" we've put together a supercut of each occurrence of the word "bat" or "Batman" in the first series and the Christopher Nolan films.
Then again, we guess it's not just Batman who likes to say his name. Everyone enjoys rolling off a "Batman" or "the Batman" once in a while.

Переслать - 'The Master' Teaser Poster Makes A Splash
By Meg Malone
While we're excited to see Philip Seymour Hoffman take on his newly cast role in "Catching Fire," we're also intrigued by his upcoming film "The Master," especially since a new poster hit the web yesterday. The image was released via an exclusive from The Huffington Post.
Thoughts on this partially submerged imagery? The curvature shading in the poster and the sweat on the top portion are nice touches on the bottle look. In "The Master" trailer focusing on Joaquin Phoenix's character, Freddie Sutton, (you can watch at the movie's official website), we already know "drinking and dancing" was part of the lead-up to some incident so a bottle calls that to mind. Additionally, the wet direction of the poster also makes me think of those scenes in the trailer along the ocean as well.
Check out the full poster after the jump!
In "The Master," Hoffman portrays Lancaster Dodd, a religious leader and a man of many hats as he points out in the trailer. Dodd takes Freddie, whose life is not all that together, under his wing — though the trailers seem to show that relationship becoming a bit rocky. Paul Thomas Anderson is directing and Amy Adams also rounds out the impressive core cast. As the Huffington Post pointed out, rumors (albeit denied ones) have circulated that the life of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard provided the basis for the film.
In any case, I dig the murky look of the poster because so far that's how I've felt watching the trailers, trying to piece together everything that's going on, but never achieving full clarity (and I mean this in the best possible way). Though it says the more general "this fall" on the poster, "The Master" is slated for an October 12 release.
Does this poster get you excited to see "The Master" in October? Let us know in the comments and on Twitter!
Переслать - Spooky New 'ParaNorman' Images Materialize
This August 17, Sam Fell's "ParaNorman" spooks moviegoers. A young outcast can communicate with ghosts and is tasked with saving his small town once he learns of a witch's evil plan to raise the dead. Dread Central shared some new stills from the stop motion animated, supernatural flick with a voice cast that includes Casey Affleck, Tempestt Bledsoe, Anna Kendrick, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Are you ready for more creepily charming stuff from "Coraline" and "Corpse Bride" writer Chris Butler?

Production on Track for Post-Apocalyptic Tale 'Snow Piercer'
"The Host" director Bong Joon-ho has wrapped shooting on "Snow Piercer" — Korea's most expensive movie to date and based on the French graphic novel series "Le Transperceneige." The Asian film was shot in the Czech Republic and centers on a group of survivors in a post-apocalyptic world living on a train that circles the snowy, icy remains of Earth after a global glaciation. "Captain America"'s Chris Evans, "The Host" star Song Kang-ho, Alison Pill, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Ed Harris, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, and Ewen Bremner will be aboard the lonely train. Bong promises the film will be moody, portraying a sense of "desperateness." He told the Yonhap News Agency that the film's stark setting won't overwhelm the story's power. "The exterior should be only groundwork to show all that."Stitch Together This 'Silent Hill: Revelation 3D' Poster from Comic-Con
Oh hi there, new "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D" one-sheet. We heard you made friends with fans at Comic-Con as an exclusive gift for those who attended your panel chat. We like your smile — or at least what we think might be your smile. It's hard to tell thanks to that giant face wound and messy stitching. We can't wait to find out more about you on October 26, but until then we know that Heather Mason is haunted by bizarre nightmares on the eve of her 18th birthday and the disappearance of her father. Eventually she realizes she's not who she thinks she is, and dark, demonic forces try to consume her.Guillermo del Toro Still Has His Sights Set 'At the Mountains of Madness'
"I think we may still make it. When I'm brave enough to go and see 'Prometheus,' I'll know," Guillermo del Toro recently said about his version of the H.P. Lovecraft tale "At the Mountains of Madness." "But for now, I don't know. We are all nothing but human beings. I go to the theatre, I buy my ticket for 'Prometheus' and I go and see something else because I'm afraid. I'm not a mental entity, I am also emotional because the ideas are similar, from what I've heard, and I'll see it next week, I promise!" The director is, of course, referring to both projects sharing strange creatures, mysterious ruins, and a legion of ancient ones. We're always happy to see what Del Toro is dishing up — especially when it comes to something like a Lovecraft story. Let us know if you're still desperate for "Madness" below.Drink Booze to Stay Alive in Horror-Comedy 'Grabbers'
Irish import "Grabbers" features alcohol and tentacles. We're pretty much sold on this one already, but a new trailer featuring slimy sea monsters and tons of black comedy really closed the deal. When residents of a sleepy fishing town find their costal homestead overrun by monsters, they realize that the only way to fend them off is to stay drunk. Really drunk. Watch the trailer on Twitch, who called "Grabbers'" creatures "fantastic" in their Sundance Film Festival review. Will you be visiting this genre gem in the future?'Paranormal Activity" Producer Takes Over 'Ouija' Film
"Paranormal Activity" producer Jason Blum will be taking on the adaptation of popular Hasbro board game, "Ouija" — and thank goodness, since the original team behind the film wanted to nix the horror angle and make it a "Jumanji-like" adventure tale. Um, no. Variety reported that Blum and his team will create a high-concept, low-budget movie, similar to the feel of the "Paranormal Activity" franchise. According to the trade report, we'll be scared by someone moving the planchette on purpose sometime in 2013 when "Ouija" haunts theaters.'Solomon Kane' Trailer Reveals Disfigured Baddies
Fangoria delivered the new "Solomon Kane" trailer. The film will be available on VOD August 24 and in theaters September 28, from director Michael J. Bassett. It's based on a work by "Conan" author Robert E. Howard. The film stars James Purefoy as Kane — a 16th century British captain who is deflected from his violent mission by demonic forces. Soon, however, he's forced to face the dark side again when tasked with saving a young girl in England. See what you make of Kane in the trailer, and drop your comments below. What did you think of this week's Horror Bites? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter!
Переслать - 'Arrested Development' Movie Will Probably Feature Mae Whitman's Ann
If the latest rumors about the "Arrested Development" movie are true—as started via Twitter by Jason Bateman himself – then we are very close to the first official day of filming of the highly-anticipated and long-delayed production.
In an effort to temper our excitement over the fact that the movie is actually happening, anytime MTV News encounters any of the series' stars we ask them for their thoughts on the project and what they know about the movie, which is exactly what went down when we encountered the criminally underrated, multi-talented Mae Whitman (aka George Michael's uber-Christian girlfriend Ann) recently at Entertainment Weekly's Comic-Con bash.
"My dream scenario is just that everybody gets brought back, every loose end is somehow incorporated because there were so many loose ends and what makes that show so special is all the small intricacies and how everybody ties in together," Whitman said when asked about her hopes and dreams for the big screen version. "To me it would be a grand finale fireworks thing if everybody somehow found this big connection and I definitely know that Mitch [Hurwitz] is extremely talented and will find a way to do that."
So what has she heard about her role in the film and how many days will she be filming?
"All I know that I can say is that wild horses couldn't keep me away."
We won't know for a while whether Ann makes a big appearance in the movie or new season, but in the meantime, look for Whitman's wonderful performance as part of the "special souls" in future hit, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower."
