- Selena Gomez Says She's 'Lucky' To Have Justin Bieber
'I don't take anything in my personal life too seriously,' she tells Teen Vogue.
By James Dinh<P>Contrary to the breakup rumors that flooded the Internet earlier this month, Selena Gomez is perfectly happy with <a href="/news/articles/1690653/justin-bieber-writes-song-selena-gomez.jhtml">pop-star boyfriend Justin Bieber</a>.</P><P>He's just one of a few topics the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/ontv/vma/2012/">VMA</a> nominee chatted about with <a href="http://www.teenvogue.com/industry/coverlook/coverlook-september-2012/selena-gomez-teen-vogue-photos" target="_blank"><i>Teen Vogue</i></a> for a September cover story. Gomez also discussed her aspirations to take acting to a whole new level and her dreams to make music with <i>another</i> Justin.</P><P>Describing her relationship with Bieber as "really fun," Gomez told the mag she feels "lucky" to have the young singer by her side. "I'm 20. I don't take anything in my personal life too seriously," she says. "I have great friends and a solid group of people I love. I feel like everything else will come organically."</P><P>Unlike <a href="/news/articles/1686645/miley-cyrus-liam-hemsworth-engaged.jhtml">fellow Disney alum Miley Cyrus</a>, the pint-size pop star isn't interested in walking down the aisle anytime soon, saying, "Marriage and all that other stuff I think will happen once I feel accomplished in every other aspect of my life."</P><P>But if there's one thing Gomez is pushing for it's her long-term goal to shake off her predictable good-girl reputation. One major step in making her Mickey Mouse days a distant memory is her <a href="/news/articles/1684137/selena-gomez-spring-breakers.jhtml">girls-gone-wild adventure flick "Spring Breakers,"</a> which hits theaters in early 2013. She tells the magazine that after she read the script for the Harmony Korine-directed film, she took a plane to the director's home in Nashville to convince him that she would "work really hard."</P><P>And while she describes her role in 2011's "Monte Carlo" as "a good step for me at the time," Gomez said she would never want to do something like that again. "I don't necessarily feel accomplished. I want to create a whole different persona when it comes to acting," she explained.</P><P>Gomez is also planning to take her music to the next level too, and there's one star she's dying to hit the studio with. "I don't think he ever would — I don't even think he's doing music anymore — is Justin Timberlake," she said, gushing, "Just 'cause I love his music sooo much."</P><P><b>The <a href="http://www.mtv.com/ontv/vma/2012/">2012 MTV Video Music Awards</a> will air live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. By Gil Kaufman<P>It's practically the second question any NBC sport reporter asks a young, female Olympic athlete right after, "how does it feel to win your first medal?" or "how does it feel to have just missed out on a medal?"</P><P>"Is it true you're a big <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> fan?"</P><P>The answer is pretty much always yes. But in the case of sudden teen swimming phenom Missy Franklin, the admiration goes both ways. The 17-year-old Aurora, Colorado native qualified for the women's 200m freestyle race on Monday night and then turned around less than 15 minutes later and won the women's 100m backstroke while setting an American record.</P><P><big><a href="www.mtv.com/news/2012/summer_jam_games/"><b>Vote for your favorites now in MTV's Summer Jam Games!</b></a></big></P><P>Among the millions of minds blown was that of Bieber, who <a href="https://twitter.com/justinbieber/status/230212769889280000" target="_blank">tweeted</a>, "heard @FranklinMissy is a fan of mine. CONGRATS on winning GOLD! #muchlove."</P><P>Franklin, who also got some words of encouragement on Tuesday (July 31) from season 10 "American Idol" champ <a href="https://twitter.com/FranklinMissy/status/230276258783698944" target="_blank">Scotty McCreery</a>, couldn't believe that Bieber shouted her out, <a href="https://twitter.com/FranklinMissy/status/230214892349693952" target="_blank">writing</a>, "I just died! Thankyou!"</P><P>The perpetually smiling teen known as Missy the Missile, turned down some pretty fat endorsement deals and bonuses so that she could retain her amateur status and swim in college. She will swim in seven events during her Olympics run, which kicked off with a starring role in the <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2012/07/27/us-olympic-swim-team-call-me-maybe-video-carly-rae-jepsen/">viral lip dub hit</a> cover of Carly Rae Jepsen's <a href="/news/articles/1687413/carly-rae-jepsen-call-me-maybe.jhtml">"Call Me Maybe"</a>
 by members of the U.S. swimming delegation. The video has been seen more than 4 million times since it was posted on Thursday.</P><P>Just weeks after the horrific <a href="/news/articles/1690774/shooter-james-holmes-charged-24-counts-murder.jhtml">movie theater shootings</a>
 in Aurora that killed 12 and injured 58 while she was training in France, Franklin told <a href="http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-33747_162-57483060/swimmer-missy-franklin-dedicates-olympic-wins-to-colorado/" target="_blank">CBS News</a> that she dedicated all her Olympic races to the folks back home. "Every single race I'm going to have that Colorado incident back of my mind," she said. "It's such a terrible thing and I'm so shaken by it. They're in my thoughts this entire process."</p>

'I don't know what to expect,' she tells MTV News about the world tour kicking off in September.
By Jocelyn Vena<P>With only a couple short months until <a href=" http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jepsen_carly_rae/artist.jhtml">Carly Rae Jepsen</a> <a href="/news/articles/1685633/justin-bieber-believe-tour.jhtml">hits the road</a> with her pal <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>, the singer is warming up with some summer tour dates. But, the scope of these shows is miniscule compared to playing to an arena filled with Beliebers.</P><P>"I don't know what to expect," she told MTV News earlier this month before she took the stage in Chicago for the <a href="/news/articles/1690083/carly-rae-jepsen-windy-chicago.jhtml">Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Summer Concert</a>. While it gave pop-music lovers a taste of what the "Call Me Maybe" singer can do in concert, it didn't look anything like the highly anticipated, sure-to-be-massive <i>Believe</i> tour kicking off in September.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Is Carly Rae Jepsen Prepared To Hit The Road With Justin Bieber?" id="vid:820624" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>However, Jepsen isn't going into the experience completely blind. She did get an idea of what the tour will feel like when she played with Bieber abroad earlier this year. She added, "I did one or two shows with Justin. One in London and one in Mexico City, and all I can say is, like, 'Wow.' They were huge — 300,000 people in Mexico City. I was speechless."</P><P>Given just how overwhelming it can be to play in front of that many people, it's just one of the many things about 2012 that has left the singer floored.</P><P>"[How do you] take it in? I don't know that I totally do," she said. "I think that like in 10 years' time I'm gonna sit back and look at everything that's happening to me this year and actually have a 'whoa' kind of a moment. Right now everything's so fast and the pace of it so quick that I'm just kind of keeping my head to the ground and trying to do the best at getting through it."</P><P>In addition to hitting the road with Bieber, the singers will both appear on <a href="/news/articles/1690391/carly-rae-jepsen-justin-bieber-duet.jhtml">her debut album</a>, also dropping in September. So, what should fans expect from that collaboration? "The Justin song, I'm kind of sworn to secrecy on because I think we want to release it together at one moment," Jepsen said.
