- Gerard Butler Scores Goals, Warms Hearts In 'Playing For Keeps' Trailer
By Ryan Gowland
This year will see Gerard Butler go from playing a surfer in "Chasing Mavericks" to a retired soccer player in "Playing For Keeps" (formerly "Playing the Field"), continuing his penchant for playing flawed heroes.
In the dramedy directed by Gabriele Muccino ("Seven Pounds," "The Pursuit of Happyness"), Butler plays George Dryer, once a soccer pro who played for a team wearing Celtic-esque uniforms (not coincidentally, Glasgow's Celtic F.C. is Butler's favorite team) and ruined his marriage to Stacie (Jessica Biel) with his playboy antics.
Check out the trailer after the jump!
Bankrupt and wondering what to do next with his life and career, George begins his tour of redemption by moving to Virginia to coach his son's soccer team, while trying to mend his fences with his Stacie, who is already on her way to marrying again. Enter Catherine Zeta-Jones as Denise, a former sportscaster who puts George in position to be a commentator with ESPN, which would impact his new found relationship with his son and the ever-burning flame of his former marriage to Stacie. Who said it was easy being famous and handsome?
FilmDistrict picked up the distribution rights to "Playing For Keeps" during the Cannes Film Festival, and has finally released the first trailer. Like a lot of romantic dramedies about soccer pros, the trailer shows pretty much the entire movie, but with a supporting cast that includes Dennis Quaid, Uma Thurman and Judy Greer, we're pretty sure that won't stop anyone from seeing it when it opens this winter.
"Playing For Keeps" opens December 7th.

Переслать - Jason Bateman Tweets First Photo Of 'Arrested Development' Filming
Thank you, Jason Bateman, for being our inside look into the set of "Arrested Development." The star of the series has been keeping us up to date on the status of the show, even tweeting pictures of the half-completed sets last week.
Now he has surpassed himself. With the fourth season of "Arrested Development" starting to film yesterday, Bateman posted an image to confirm to fans that everything was going smoothly. "First day. Away we go..." he tweeted.
As you can see above, the image shows the counter at an airport check-in location. And though they may be hard to pick out, the scene also includes "Workahloics" stars Anders Holm and Adam DeVine as two men manning the counter. So what could Michael be doing there? And how does this work in the realm of the story?
Considering we know the title of the first episode of "Arrested Development's" fourth season is called "Michael," it seems safe to assume that it will catch us up on Michael Bluth's life. It wouldn't surprise us to find out that Michael had taken on an honest job at an airport now that he's away from his conniving family, though we have a feeling something will soon happens that draws Michael back into the Bluth fold. Those images Bateman previously tweeted of the model home and Lucille Bluth's apartment weren't created for the fun of it, after all.

Переслать - 'Bourne Legacy' Director Wrote Fake Script For Auditions
When it comes to big-budget summer tent poles, you can't just make a movie anymore. You have to protect it from spies, leaks, and spoilers. For "The Bourne Legacy," writer-director Tony Gilroy couldn't just hand out pages of the script for actors to audition; the secrets could get out. As he told MTV News, he had to write pages upon pages of a fake screenplay to keep his actual scenes close to the vest.
"You go through your whole [career] as a writer, and all you want is for people to read your script. 'Please read my script, please read my script!' " Gilroy said. "And then I end up on this movie after 30 years, and no one is allowed to read the script. It's in a safe that the department heads have to come and check out. It's really crazy."
That level of secrecy is what led to the fake screenplay for auditions. "The weirdest thing, I had to write fake scenes for actors to audition," Gilroy said. "I ended up almost having to write a parallel script, much more than I ever thought, lots of different scenes, so we could have people come in and audition and not blow the movie. That's another new odd facet of mega-moviemaking."
None of this should be new for star Jeremy Renner. He's had his fair share of secret-keeping on projects like "The Avengers." As it turns out, keeping the "Bourne" secrets ended up being an easier time.
" 'The Avengers' was pretty intense. This one was small in a lot of ways," Renner said, comparing his two big movies this year. "We were in a studio here [in Los Angeles] and out in the middle of nowhere, out in the Rockies. It wasn't until we were shooting in Manila and surrounded by thousands and thousands of people being spectators that you had to be protective, but not nearly as much as with 'Avengers.' I guess it was more so the script and trying to keep that under wraps and protect the franchise."

Переслать - 'The Hobbit' In 48 FPS Will Only Have A Limited Release
The 48 frames per-second revolution has been postponed.
A new report from Variety claims that Warner Bros. has chosen a limited release for "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" at the higher frame rate. What was once supposed to change the movie-going experience has effectively been relegated to a test run.
The trade reported, "According to source familiar with Warner's release plans for Peter Jackson's first 'Hobbit,' the HFR version will go out to only select locations, perhaps not even into all major cities."

This is surely bad news for director Peter Jackson, who has championed the technology since deciding to film his now three-part fantasy saga in the format. After a preview screening at CinemaCon earlier this year, scathing reports about the image quality spread quickly across the web, and theater owners were supposedly equally underwhelmed.
Some who have seen footage projected at 48 fps more recently have claimed the post-production polish has improved the experience, but that hasn't stopped WB from continuing with the limited release.
The new report says that depending on how the first "Hobbit" performs may determine whether a wider release will happen at later date and how the studio proceeds for the final two films.
It comes down to more than the image, however. Variety reports that no theaters are currently equipped to present the film in at higher frame rate. The theater owner, who have just spent large sums of money upgrading to 3-D, would have to shell out even more dough for new software and even new projectors in some cases.

Переслать - 'This Is 40' Trailer Warms Hearts, Loses Starfish
Judd Apatow's latest slice-of-Judd-Apatow's-life comedy, "This Is 40," takes a long hard look at middle-age and asks the question, "What have you been doing in the bathroom for so long?"
The latest trailer for "This Is 40" dropped online today (via Yahoo! Movies) and packs the signature Apatow mixture of toilet humor and heart.
Check it out after the jump!
"This Is 40" continues the story of Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Apatow's real-life wife Leslie Mann) from "Knocked Up" as they raise their two girls (Apatow's real-life daughters).
"This Is 40" opens in theaters on December 21.

Переслать - Sacha Baron Cohen Takes Aim At 007 Spoof
Sacha Baron Cohen has prepared quite the 50th birthday present for James Bond: he's going to spoof him.
The Hollywood Reporter has the news that Cohen's pitch for a spoof of James Bond-style films, which he prepared with screenwriter Phil Johnson, was recently picked up by Paramount. There's no guarantee that Cohen will take a role in the project, but THR reports it's about a James Bond-like spy who "is forced to go on the run with his long-lost brother, a moronic soccer hooligan."
If Cohen were to take a role in the movie, we have a feeling which character it would be. (Hint: it's the latter.) But we'd love to see Cohen take on the suave James Bond spy and maybe have someone who typically plays straight comedic roles be the "moronic" brother.
Apparently Cohen's participation in the film, which is currently untitled, is dependent on his "availability and scheduling." Now that he's out of "Django Unchained" and "Les Miserables" is wrapped, hopefully that means he's available.
For those of you who aren't too familiar with Johnson, he's made quite a name for himself over the past two years. Johnson had his big break with 2011's "Cedar Rapids," and also wrote Disney's upcoming ode to video games, "Wreck-It Ralph." But Johnson also has a hand for drama, as he penned Alexander Payne's next project, "Nebraska." We have a feeling this film with Cohen will be more comedy than drama, but it's nice to know he can straddle both genres.

Переслать - 'Expendables 2' Exclusive Clip: Stallone Introduces Motorcycle To Helicopter
Some people would try to tell you that "The Expendables 2" isn't the thinking man's kind of action movie. But we have a question for them.
Would you have been able to think up a solution as creative as sending a motorcycle flying into the cockpit of an attacking helicopter? We don't think so.
That's exactly what Sylvester Stallone does in this exclusive clip from the upcoming action all-star game. The footage exemplifies the kind of thrills we expect when Stallone, Statham, Schwarzenegger, Willis, and Chuck Norris share the screen.
"The Expendables 2" opens August 17.
Переслать - Scoring Lincoln: Which Actor Looked Most Like The President?
The first official photo of Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's new movie has made its way online (via EW), and the resemblance is as uncanny as we knew it would be. It looks like Day-Lewis has once again dove into a role, this time giving the world an Honest Abe that looks like the honest-to-God real thing.
Day-Lewis isn't the first actor to slip into the famous chin strap beard and toss on a jaunty stovetop hat. The IMDb character page for Abraham Lincoln lists 300 appearances by the sixteenth president in movies, starting all the way back in 1911. But who wore the beard the best?
We score the cinematic Lincolns from 1 to 10 after the jump!
Daniel Day-Lewis in "Lincoln"
Day-Lewis looks more weathered/leathery than we've ever seen before and more like the prez because of it.
Score: 9Benjamin Walker in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"
Walker plays Abe throughout his life and dons extensive prosthetics for the later years. The results are impressive at times, creepy at others, but overall kept us longing for Day-Lewis.
Score: 4 (Ha!)Will Ferrell in "Drunk History"
It's Will Ferrell. Playing Abraham Lincoln. In an inebriated retelling of history. Nothing but the beard and the hat required.
Score: 2Robert V. Barron in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure"
This portrayal of Lincoln is unique from any other because it explores the president's love of partying on, dudes.
Score: 7Sam Waterston in "Gore Vidal's Lincoln" and "The Civil War"
For this miniseries, "Law & Order"'s Jack McCoy basically looked like Sam Waterston with a partially grown Lincoln beard and some new hair gel. Extra points for sweet coif.
Score: 3Gregory Peck in "The Blue and The Gray"
Peck's take on Lincoln brings the importance of eyebrows to the foreground of the discussion. It's all about the eyebrows.
Score: 8Hal Holbrook in "North and South" and "Lincoln"
It's hard to fault Holbrook with looking too nice to play Lincoln, but the actor's naturally genial face doesn't really match up with the actual man's serious expression.
Score: 6Henry Fonda in "Young Mr. Lincoln"
Fonda has the distinction of playing a pre-beard younger Lincoln, so the resemblance doesn't matter quite as much, but it's hard to see anything else but Fonda.
Score: 5Walter Huston in "Abraham Lincoln"
While not as natural as Day-Lewis' Lincoln, Huston comes just as eerily close to resembling the man himself.
Score: 9Who is your favorite on-screen Lincoln? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter!
Переслать - 'Cosmopolis' Stills Take Robert Pattinson To The Dark Side
Remind us never to go with Robert Pattinson to get a hair cut.
That's what his character Eric Packer heads off to do in David Cronenberg's latest, "Cosmopolis." But between his failing marriage and the plummeting stock market, Packer ends up having a no good very bad day. So bad, in fact, that one new still from the film shows him wandering around the alleys of New York City toting a gun.
The Playlist posted the new image as well as another that shows Pattinson hanging out with Kevin Durand's character in front of his heavily graffitied limo. And is that shaving cream smeared all over his face, or something worse? We aren't quite sure.
Based on what we've seen in the trailers for "Cosmopolis," these stills likely come from the end of Packers journey. He still has a pretty healthy head of hair though, so at least we know the images don't come from after the not-so-great hair cut Packer finally receives. Let's just say it's not the most flattering 'do Pattinson has ever rocked.
"Cosmopolis" made its premiere at Cannes in May, and will hit theaters on August 17. It tells the story of a Wall Street billionaire who spends the day driving around New York City in his limousine as the stock market, his fortune and society begin to crumble around him. David Cronenberg directs the film, which stars Pattinson, Sarah Gadon, Juliette Binoche, Jay Baruchel, Samantha Morton, Kevin Durand and Paul Giamatti.
