Sorry, but how cool are Frank Ocean and Pharrell? We are forever inferior.
We have a new bestie alert, guys! As you can plainly see by the aura of bestie-ness permeating this image, Frank Ocean and Pharrell are totally BFFs, and we're kinda dying over it. Along with the picture -- which I'm framing and hanging above my couch -- Pharrell tweeted: "Me and my brother @frank_ocean." DYING OF "AWWW" OVER HERE!
And sure, these guys are up against some stiff BFF competition what with Kanye West and Jay-Z's seasoned bromance and Katy Perry and Rihanna's GIF'd out expressions of love. But, there's just something about these two that make them the clear winners in the BFF battle.
Other than existing, it's not like Frank Ocean and Pharrell did anything especially awesome right before they took this photo. It's just that they're so innately hip that you just assume hey did, you know? That's not to say that releasing his SICK channel ORANGE doesn't make Frank cool or being a super-producer doesn't make Pharrell cool, but there's a subtlety about the whole thing that just makes them way doper than everyone else. Own your jealousy, and move on.

+ Lil Wayne launched a skate park in New Orleans. The Trukstop Skate Park is in one of the few spaces in the Lower 9th Ward village to survive Hurricane Katrina. "I just want to help out my city, help out the people and the kids, give them something to do, something they haven't done before," Weezy said. (MTV News)
+ To mark the one-year anniversary of Cole World: The Sideline Story, J. Cole is giving fans a free download of a collabo with Major Lazer. "Much love to @majorlazer and @diplo. Let this be a thank you to all of you who bought a copy of my 1st album 1 year ago today," he tweeted. (Rap-Up)

We celebrate Avril Lavigne's life on the daily for a gazillion reasons: her AH-MAZING fashion sense, her IDGAF attitude, her ability to make smooching skeletons look fun -- but we're really celebrating today because it's her 28th birthday! Girl, we "Wish You Were Here" so we could hit up da club for a night of dancing. We've seen your killer moves, and know we'd be in for a real good time!
And how does this sound for a night-before-birthday outing? The "What The Hell" singer hung out with "American Idol's" Chris Daughtry (!!) at her beau's Nickelback concert in Munich, Germany, where they shared the moment on Facebook. OK, we're just gonna say it: Is there ever a day where she takes a bad picture? Like, ever? Well, birthdays pretty much mean that no bad pictures are allowed.
Anyway, we just hope Chad Kroeger has spent all day today spoiling Avril (you know, aside from that 14K Diamond engagement ring). We have some ideas: Instead of eating croissants and shopping together in France, they could do everything German style! They could slap on lederhosen, chug gigantic beers, and eat Wiener schnitzel until they burst (much like we're gonna do when we watch Heidi Klum hosting this year's MTV Europe Music Awards). And hey, that's exactly how we celebrated our last birthday (don't ask). Happy Birthday, Avril!

Kevin Rudolf, Limp Bizkit, Birdman, and Lil Wayne proclaim themselves "Champions." Sounds about right.
Young Money/Cash Money is undoubtedly one of the hottest hip-hop labels around, period. When you've got Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj on your team, that's a pretty good start -- so it's no wonder that resident YMCMB rocker Kevin Rudolf wrote "Champions," a celebratory song about the label's baller status. Plus it's only fitting that Rudolf include some industry veterans on the track, like say Lil Wayne, Birdman, and Limp Bizkit. OK, OK, these dudes may not have their own stadium yet (kinda) like Jay-Z, but I think it's fair to say that these dudes are still winning at life. This could be like, three steps behind stadium status.

On "Champions," Kevin Rudolf shouts to the world (haters included) that he and his crew aren't going anywhere: "Here we are, we are the champions/ We go so far, they said it can't be done/ We right here, and we're still No. 1." That's enough to get anyone psyched up, and it seemed to work pretty well as WWE's theme for Night Of Champions 2012. Later, Weezy elaborates on their baller status in, shall we say, more colorful terms. "In the meantime, imma have a nice time/ went from a con artist to an icon/ got the keys to success to on my key ring/ used to dream about sugar, 'sweet dreams.'" (Never change, Weezy.) And you know it's not bragging if you can back it up! So gloat away, guys.

Prince and Jennifer Hudson changed EVERYTHING when they sang "Nothing Compares 2 U."
Until now, a Prince and Jennifer Hudson collaboration has only existed in our wildest fantasies. But guess what? Today must be "watch your wildest fantasies come true" day, because J-Hud and Prince DID ACTUALLY just sing "Nothing Compares 2 U" together during one of Prince's "Welcome 2 Chicago" shows. (Oh, and as long as our fantasies are coming true here, can we get a three-course afternoon snack delivered to our desks, too? 'Cause it's about that time.)

Though "Nothing Compares" was originally written by Prince for his side project The Family, the song was later made famous in 1990 by an Irish gal named, oh, ya know... Sinéad O'Connor. And, while we mean no disrespect to Sinéad's version, basically NOTHING COMPARES to Prince and Jennifer's stage rendition! (Sorry, had to take the easy route, there.) As you might expect, Prince was in rare vocal form -- he even began wailing "take 'em to church" before Jennifer Hudson proceeded to sing the EFF out of her verse. And you know what, Prince DID take us to church (and I'm totally Jewish)!

We give Kelly Clarkson major props for covering Adele's "Someone Like You," 'cause you know that ain't easy.
We'd like to formally give a GIANT stamp of approval to Kelly Clarkson for covering so many fantastic songs on her "Stronger" tour. So far, Kelly's expertly paid tribute to Rihanna's "We Found Love," Florence + The Machine's "Shake It Out," TLC's "No Scrubs," Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" (along with the rest of the world/internet), Eminem's "Lose Yourself" (welp, no one ever said Kelly didn't have range!), No Doubt's "Don't Speak," and now she's gone and covered Adele's "Someone Like You." And we. Are. Sobbing.

Performing on the Brisbane, Australia leg of her "Stronger" tour, Kelly unleashed a stunning rendition of "Someone Like You," but opened the cover with charming aside: "I've actually been avoiding this song -- it's been literally every fan request. And I've been avoiding it because Adele might be one of the best singers of all time. ...So hopefully I do it justice and don't suck." We totes get that, girl. But props to you for tackling it! You weren't the first "American Idol" (and arguably most successful) winner for nothing!
So how'd Kelly do? Well, OBVIOUSLY she did not suck. In fact, we're officially renewing our request that Kelly release a tribute album ASAP. Like, after she's done her tour. We will buy it, we will frame its album art, and we will build a shrine to it. We daresay Adele would be proud!

Yep, feel free to add this smokin' hot photo of Ke$ha on the set of her "Die Young" video to the list of things that will SLOWLY KILL US! We almost expired waiting for the full version of "Die Young" to drop, and now the very same thing is happening while we wait for the "Die Young" video to drop in full. Consider yourselves one step closer to revival, though, because on-set photos mean the video is being filmed!! Plus, if we can't watch the actual thing, then pics of Ke$ha in a revealing leather number will just have to do.

We already knew Ke$ha was into wearing basically nothing these days (see: Ke$ha's Cher-esque body rope/tape on "Die Young"'s cover art), and it's looking like that no-clothes theme has continued. Unfortch, other than the professional whistler's revealing outfits, we've got basically ZERO deets on the video's plot. But if Ke$ha's nearly naked outfit means anything at all, it's that she MIGHT be playing an Amazonian princess with a mission to save the world from mass destruction. That, or a dominatrix. You be the judge!

We've already learned that Cher has some MAY-JOR stage presence (obvs!) and killer skills after catching acoustic versions of "With Ur Love" and "Want U Back." This week, we get even more proof of the Brit Brat's talent as she takes on a cover of John Mayer's "I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You)." Also, is anyone else reallly hoping for a Cher Lloyd unplugged album to drop sometime soon? (Grunt if you agree -- UGH!)

After watching Cher's emotional cover of Robyn's "Dancing On My Own," it comes as no surprise that she'd nail John Mayer's sensitive track with the same level of tenderness. The video catches Cher crooning to an acoustic guitar, which is so touching that for a second there Cher's hip-hop/pop "tough-girl who throws milk shakes at waitresses to get her boo back" alter ego completely melts away. While the song may deal with her being too nervous to lose herself in love, we're pretty sure that after this performance, she'll be the one holding our hearts in her hands!

Happy Birthday, Weezy! You're probably doing something really amazing right now.
Guess what, guys? Today is Lil Wayne's 30th birthday! And guess what else? You probably can't afford to get him anything that he doesn't already have because Weezy has a long history of getting a crap-ton of amazing presents on his birthday. Examples? Here you go: On his 27th birthday, Lil Wayne's boss Birdman gifted him with a jewel-encrusted $1 million watch (WTF), and he made a cool $15 million last year, which is about as great a birthday gift as we could ever imagine.
So, now that we're positive we can't give Weezy anything he doesn't already own, let's create a sample birthday day itinerary that we sincerely hope Weezy takes into consideration. First, Wayne wakes up (in a bed with 30000 thread count sheets), and enjoys a delicious breakfast of French toast, eggs Benedict, and fruit salad sprinkled with 24k gold flakes. Because calories don't count on your birthday! Next, he gets a call from BFF and Young Money cohort Nicki Minaj wishing him a good one, followed by a quick iPhone 5 face-time sesh with his bro Drake. Next, Weezy picks up the rest of his YMCMB crew and they all hop aboard Wayne's personal plane (with a monogrammed interior, natch) and end up on a mega-yacht in Ibiza where they rage the night away. With models only. For two weeks straight. And did we mention calories still haven't started counting? Best birthday in the world!!

Harry Styles smolders on the cover of Britain's Fabulous Magazine.
Sooo...by now it's no secret that we're just a SMIDGE into One Direction. In fact, we kind of thought that these 1D GIFs, and these 1D GIFs, and this GIF of Harry Styles juggling, and that one time we turned One Direction in cats guaranteed us the gold medal in the "who loves One Direction more?" Olympic Games. But as it turns out, we might be tied with Britain's Fabulous magazine, because not only did the mag feature the boys, but they gave each of them their very own cover. As in, five magazine covers to rip off and put on our bedroom ceilings, lockers, iPhones, and Facebook profiles. One for each school day, DUH.

As you might have expected, the 2012 MTV VMAs winners in "Most Share-Worthy," "Best Pop Video," and "Best New Artist" categories look drop-dead GORG in their individual cover shots. As opposed to some of 1D's more playful shoots, this time all of the bros look brooding and sexy in their black-and-white shot. Each cover also comes tagged with a catchphrase pertaining to a piece of 1D tabloid gossip: "I like girls my own age too," reads Harry Styles' cover while Niall Horan's explains, "I'd rather go to sleep than find a girl." Well, there you have it, folks! This 100 percent wins the 2012 "best magazine cover moment." (Because we said so.) If you need us, we'll be over here sending five huge thank-you fruit baskets to the Fabulous magazine offices.
