  • 'Jurassic Park 4' Is Still Happening, 'Indy 5' Probably Not

    Jurassic

Although Steven Spielberg's movie world is currently revolving around everything "Lincoln," the filmmaking legend always has his hands full with a variety of buzz-worthy projects, one of them being the much-discussed/hyped "Jurassic Park 4."

Thanks to a recent update from Spielberg's longtime producing partner Kathleen Kennedy, we can tell you that the film IS moving forward, we just don't know when we'll see it.

"[We're] writing, writing, writing," Kennedy said of the film's status during a press event pegged to the Oct. 9 Blu-ray release of "E.T." (the first movie Kennedy produced with Spielberg). "It's really hard to keep these things going when there's an expectation and a desire by the public and the audience to keep certain franchises going," she added. "As filmmakers we often sit there going, 'Okay, we have to answer the question, "Why do another one?"' If you can't answer that question, you shouldn't be doing it. It's tough. We're trying to come up with a story that makes sense and isn't going to disappoint people and is hopefully going to get people excited and reinvigorate the franchise. So we'll see, we've got to start with a script and the story."

The story is currently being written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver ("Rise of the Planet of the Apes") and according to Kennedy, no one wants another one more than the studio.

"[The studio] is just like, 'When?!'" Kennedy laughed. "They don't care about the agony we're going through."

At least we can take comfort in the fact that they seem to be taking their time in developing the project and that it is happening - the same of which cannot be said for the rumors about another "Indiana Jones" movie. When I asked her about all the question marks surrounding a fifth installment of that franchise, Kennedy dodged the question with a shrug of her shoulders, offering up neither a glimmer of hope or kabash on the idea.

In addition to any movement on "Jurassic Park 4," another project we're ready to get behind is an adaptation of Roald Dahl's "The BFG," which is being written by "E.T." scribe Melissa Mathison.

"[It's] live action, [and we're] pretty far along," Kennedy said of the development process.

  • Leighton Meester And Hugh Laurie Love Each Other In 'The Oranges' Exclusive Red Band Clip

Here's a premise you probably never thought you'd hear: Leighton Meester and Hugh Laurie fall in love in a relationship that wreaks havoc on both of their families. But that's exactly what the comedic film "The Oranges" is about.

The movie is finally getting a theatrical release starting October 5, and MTV News is delighted to have an exclusive clip to present in anticipation of that date. Be warned, there is some inappropriate language in the video. It also will generate some terrible mental imagery, and we just read about bagel foreheads, so you know we're being serious. But the clip gives us a good sense of what we can expect from this little indie, which has one of the most exciting casts we've seen in a while.

In addition to Meester and Laurie, there's a delightful array of comedic talent at play here. Allison Janney and Oliver Platt play Meester's character's parents, while Katherine Keener is the wife of Laurie and Alia Shawkat plays his daughter. Adam Brody and Aya Cash round out the cast.

"The Oranges" tells the story of the Wallings (Laurie and Keener) and the Ostroffs (Platt and Janney), two families who are neighbors and best friends living on Orange Drive in New Jersey. All is well in their lives until Nina Ostroff (Meester) returns home after a five year absence and enters into an affair with David Walling (Laurie), throwing the lives of everyone around her into upheaval -- especially that of her childhood best friend Vanessa Walling (Shawkat).

  • Selena Gomez And Andy Samberg Sink Their Teeth Into After Hours

It's sort of an unwritten rule that if you play a vampire in a movie, you have to know everything about the mythical creature, which explains why MTV News' Josh Horowitz has a few questions for Andy Samberg and Selena Gomez in the latest After Hours.

Promoting their new film, "Hotel Transylvania," the duo hit on many vampire-related topics like drinking blood, the "Twilight" series, general sexiness, and even why Justin Bieber hasn't really aged at all.

You can watch the brand new episode of After Hours above, and you can see "Hotel Transylvania" in theaters on September 28.

  • Adele's 'Skyfall' Theme Reportedly Creatively Titled 'Let The Sky Fall'

    Skyfall

James Bond might be on Her Majesty's secret service, but he's done a terrible job keeping the details of his newest theme song hush-hush.

It was teased earlier this month that Adele will be singing "Skyfall's" theme. Though the team behind the latest 007 film have yet to confirm the news, now Showbiz 411 has actually heard part of the tune and can confirm it's fantastic.

Titled "Let The Sky Fall," the single is described as an "ominous, dramatic ballad" that shows off Adele's "now trademark vocals." The chorus of the song goes, "Let the sky fall/Let it crumble/We will stand tall/And face it all/together."

The song opens with a piano solo, and the opening lyrics are reportedly, "This is the end/Hold your breath and count to ten/Feel the Earth move and then/Hear my heart burst again."

"It recalls the best kind of Bond hits by female vocalists like Carly Simon, Shirley Bassey, Tina Turner, Sheena Easton, and Rita Coolidge," the Showbiz 411 story reads. "Unlike more recent failed efforts by Madonna, and by Alicia Keys and Jack White, the song is tremendously catchy with a real sense of mystery." Apparently the tune is a "cinch" for a Best Song Oscar nomination.

The single will allegedly drop during the first week of October, though the "Skyfall" soundtrack isn't due out until November 6.

"Skyfall" hits theaters on November 9.

  • 'Sinister' Cinemagraph Won't Stop Freaking Us Out

It's bad enough watching a trailer for "Sinister." The new horror movie, which stars Ethan Hawke as a true crime author haunted by a box of old home videos, has terrorized us in the form of haunting previews, but those eventually end.

    Sinister

This exclusive cinemagraph, however, does not.

Taken from a scene in the film, the moving image shows Hawke's son during a night terror.

    "Sinister" opens on October 12.

  • Justin Timberlake In Talks To Play Alcoholic Food Critic

    Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake is heading back to the world of romantic comedies.

After a more dramatic turn in "The Trouble with the Curve," Variety is reporting that Timberlake is in talks to star in some lighter fare. He would play a "charming" alcoholic restaurant critic for New York Magazine who decides to put down the cup and do whatever he can to win over the woman of his dreams.

"Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" helmer Peter Sollett is set to direct the flick. Brandon and Phil Murphy penned the script, and it was recognized on the 2011 Black List. It sounds like this project has the makings of greatness to us.

Alcoholism is a touchy subject, and it sounds like there's plenty of room for dramatic depth in this project. We like our romcoms tempered with a little reality, and Timberlake has proven time and again that he can walk the fine line between comedy and drama without making it feel contrived.

This is Timberlake's first romantic comedy since last year's "Friends with Benefits." Clearly that film was a good enough experience that Timberlake felt the need to delve back into the genre, though the fresh story likely helped to convince him that romcoms were the way to go. In addition to "Trouble with the Curve," Timberlake is also starring in the Coen brothers movie "Inside Llewyn Davis" and the crime thriller "Runner, Runner." He might not be able to pump out an album every year, but Timberlake sure knows how to pick his movies.

  • 'Identity Thief' Trailer: Jason Bateman And Melissa McCarthy Face Off

    Identity Thief

    By Colin Greten

In the trailer for Seth Gordon's ("Horrible Bosses") newest film, "Identity Thief" we see Sandy (Jason Bateman) going about his daily routine, getting coffee and filling up his gas tank. What could go wrong?

Turns out Sandy's questionably unisex has led a woman on the other side of the country (Melissa McCarthy's Diana) to steal his identity and max out his credit card. What else is Sandy to do but track her down himself?

Check out the trailer after the jump!

The trailer shows both Bateman and McCarthy in their usual form. Bateman is a straight laced businessman who is charming and funny in a Michael Bluth kind of way. Meanwhile, McCarthy ("Bridesmaids") is irreverent and violent (in a hilarious way) as she is seen splurging with the stolen credit card and even punching Bateman in the throat several times in the trailer alone.

The film promises plenty of laughs and a surprising amount of action between the two as their chemistry will likely carry the film.

    (via Yahoo! Movies)

    Offical synopsis:

Horrible Bosses' Jason Bateman and Bridesmaids' Melissa McCarthy lead the cast of Identity Thief, an all-star comedy in which a regular guy is forced to extreme measures to clear his name. With everything to lose after his identity is stolen, he'll find out how crazed you can get trying to settle a bad credit score.

Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (McCarthy) to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There's only one glitch: The ID she's using to finance these sprees reads "Sandy Bigelow Patterson"… and it belongs to an accounts rep (Bateman) who lives halfway across the U.S.

With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. And as he attempts to bribe, coax and wrangle her the 2,000 miles to Denver, one easy target will discover just how tough it is to get your name back.

  • Exclusive 'Wreck-It Ralph' Photos Unlock 'Hero's Duty'

In "Wreck-It Ralph," a character from the early days of arcades decides to cast off his role as a villain and look for his place in other video games. One of those games takes Ralph to the much darker present of electronic entertainment, and that game is "Hero's Duty." Explore the world of "Hero's Duty" by clicking the image below.

    Wreck-It Ralph

As a part of the lead-up to "Wreck-It," MTV Movies Blog is pleased to bring you these exclusive photos from Level 3: "Hero's Duty," an arcade shooter that combines familiar sci-fi action elements from games like "HALO" and "Metroid." Suffice it to say, this is a much different game than what Ralph is used to.

In this world, Ralph meets a tough cast of characters, soldiers who have only known this type of game. There's Sergeant Tamor Jean Calhoun, voiced by "Glee"'s Jane Lynch, is a no-nonsense marine, tasked with informing the player how to take down Cy-Bugs, the deadly insect villains of "Hero's Duty."

But since every game needs a goal, in "Hero's Duty," there is the Medal of Heroes. Guarded over by the appropriately named General Hologram, the Medal of Heroes rewards any player who has the grit to make it to the top of a 99-story tower.

In addition to the slick video game visuals of "Hero's Duty," the world will be getting an electronic sound to match, courtesy of Skrillex. Talking about his musical contribution to the video game world, the EDM artist said, "The mood of that game world is high-energy and futuristic. I make music with many different colors of the emotional spectrum—this reflects a more aggressive side of my music."

"Wreck-It Ralph" opens in theaters on November 2.

  • 'Paranormal Activity 4': Never Trust The Neighbor Kid

    Paranormal Activity 4

The "Paranormal Activity" franchise has slowly replaced the "Saw" films during the Halloween season over the past several years, and the supernatural chiller has been haunting us through teasers, grainy images, and shaky cam clips well before its release.

While "PA3" directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman prepare to see their second installment in the series hit theaters on October 19, a lot of speculation about the return of longtime character Katie (Katie Featherston) and abducted baby Hunter (from "Paranormal Activity 2") has been swirling amongst fans.

The new, second trailer for "PA4" reveals that the mysterious child we've been seeing called Robbie could quite possible be Hunter all grown up. He moves next door to a family (perhaps with Katie?) that ends up caring for him after a terrible accident occurs.

All hell breaks loose once he moves in with the do-gooders, of course. Enjoy a few awesomely creepy moments in this clip, including an eerie Xbox Kinect scene, a near-death collision with a chandelier, and levitating bodies. There's also an ancient symbol that might explain a few things: "The Hatlusac symbol of fertility was often present in sacred rituals whereupon a demon would take possession of a male child." That's the sigil several characters are pointing to while huddled around a computer.

Check out the trailer below, and let us know if you have any theories on the supernatural tale so far.
