Переслать - 'Arrested Development' Is 'Act One Of A Movie'
It's the final countdown: We only have months left until "Arrested Development" returns to us after being off the air for six years.
The cast and crew are busy filming the fourth season of the cult hit around southern California, but creator Mitch Hurwitz took time off his busy schedule to chat with Vulture about the return of "Arrested Development." The entire interview is very much worth your time, but to make life easier we've broken down Hurwitz's hilarious comments into the most newsworthy bites. Just wait until you see what he has to say about "JarJar Bluth."
There Could Be More Than 10 Episodes In Season Four
"Our initial order is for ten, but the beauty of Netflix is that we theoretically have an opportunity to provide more material for them," Hurwitz said. "We're definitely shooting some special material just for them. But their whole outlook completely mirrors the ambitions of this show."The Plan Is Still For The New Season To Lead Into A Movie
"The episodes are an outgrowth of the design of what we hope will be the movie. They precede it. They function as an act one of a movie that we all want to do, but haven't 'sold' yet," he said. Each Episode Will Focus On A Different Character
"The episodes take the audience through the experiences of the characters since the family 'fell apart' and how they're brought together to deal with their new problems. I would give you a hint as to what those problems are, but, really, why rob the fans of being disappointed when they see it on Netflix," Hurwitz teased. "Each episode is about a character -- but we'll see them in each other's shows."The Episode Release Schedule Is Still Undecided
Though Hurwitz had previously said all of season four would be released at once online, it seems as though that claim was a bit premature. "I actually think the strategy for release is up in the air," he said. "I know Netflix at one point was talking about streaming them all at once, because that's how they've done it with other shows, and it's their choice. I know it'll be in the spring of 2013, or what the Mayans would call the spring of '1.' But I just love the opportunity we have to be creative with every part of this, from the concept to the delivery."We Might Meet Some New Characters
"We all went back into this because of the devotion of the fans, and a desire to bring some fun to them -- and to ourselves," Hurwitz explained. "[Returning to 'Arrested Development'] definitely did start out being somewhat daunting, but I think for all of us we just got back into the groove. Oh, and we have this new JarJar Bluth character so there's no way anyone will be disappointed."Are you looking forward to the return of "Arrested Development"? Переслать - Paul Thomas Anderson Working On 'Inherent Vice' Next
As Paul Thomas Anderson's next film, "The Master," slowly reveals itself to the world, the writer-director has already set his sights on his next project.
According to Screen Daily, Anderson, who has previously taken five years between each of his last three films, is currently writing an adaptation of Thomas Pynchons' detective novel "Inherent Vice."
"I'm hoping we can get 'Inherent Vice' going soon," Anderson told the website. "That's what I'm writing now. It's taking my mind of this, actually. It's a lot of fun. It's such a different piece, though. It's nice to have a collaborator, as it were, through working on the book."
Last we heard about the project, Robert Downey, Jr., who has been attached to the project from the start, hinted to MTV News last December that he's still very much involved.
"Anything to do with Paul Thomas Anderson and I doing a movie together is probably true," Downey said. "We tend to talk about a variety of potential projects, and Thomas Pynchon's 'Inherent Vice' could be great, we'll see."

Переслать - 'Avatar' Sequels Won't All Film Back-To-Back
Apparently, rumors that James Cameron would be filming the next three "Avatar" films back-to-back were a bit premature.
In a new interview with The Courier Post, producer Jon Landau set the record straight about the upcoming movies that Cameron has been busy prepping over the past few months. We still could have three more "Avatar" movies, Landau explained, but they won't happen all at once.
"We [are] doing two back-to-back, but not a third," he said.
It was Showbiz 411 who originally reported that "Avatar 2," "3" and "4" would film back-to-back.
"[Sigourney Weaver[ goes right into a new Christopher Durang play for a short run at Lincoln Center," the story read. "Then she films 'Avatar' 2, 3, and 4 with James Cameron. That's right: they're making three sequels to the blue 3D phenom all at the same time."
That seemed like a lot of work to do up front, especially since we all know trilogies sell much better than four-film-long series in Hollywood. Cameron also had never confirmed that a fourth "Avatar" would actually be made. In an interview with The New York Times, Cameron made it seem like "Avatar 4" was still up in the air.
"[I'm] in the 'Avatar' business. Period. That's it. I'm making 'Avatar 2,' 'Avatar 3,' maybe 'Avatar 4,'" he said.
"Avatar 2" doesn't have a set release date, but we do know that it likely won't come out before 2015.

Переслать - 'Oogieloves' And The Four Other Worst Wide Releases In History
"Oogieloves In the BIG Balloon Adventure" secured its place in infamy over the weekend by scoring the worst ever debut on over 2,000 screens. The surreal children's film was an unmitigated disaster, taking in only $445,000 during its opening weekend, after spending $20 million on production and an enormous sum on an aggressive marketing campaign.
While "Oogieloves" claims the top spot on that dubious list, the rest of the top five have aspects to them that make their grand failures more fascinating than anything.
"Delgo"
The former champion, "Delgo," a computer-animated fantasy film, earned just over half a million dollars in 2008, when it opened on 2,160 screens, the exact same number as "Oogieloves." The story, which centers around vaguely reptilian creatures, is pretty typical fantasy fair with warring factions, a tough princess, and an unlikely hero, and the cast featured relatively well-known actors like Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Most analysts attribute a barely-there marketing campaign and too ambitious of a release for the box office failure. "Delgo" finished its domestic run earning a total of $694,000 against a $40 million budget."P2"
In what is likely another case of an overly ambitious release coupled with a limited marketing campaign, this horror film from the makers of the "Hills Have Eyes" remake took in a little over $2 million during its opening weekend, far above both "Delgo" and "Oogieloves." Rachel Nichols and Wes Bentley starred in this contained horror flick about a young woman who is stalked in a parking garage. Unlike the rest of the list, "P2" did find some favor with the critics, even earning a three-star review from Roger Ebert."Major League: Back to the Minors"
More along the lines of the kind of movie you'd expect on this list, "Back to the Minors," the third film in the otherwise moderately successful "Major League" series. "Back to the Minors" was the long reigning champion of soft openings, standing at the top of the list for nearly ten years before "P2" came along. Several of the series regulars even returned for the third movie, including Dennis Haysbert."The Real Cancun"
A sex-filled "documentary," "The Real Cancun" didn't manage to generate the kind of controversy it hoped to, and instead, ended up with the fifth worst wide release of all time. This doc followed sixteen Americans south of the border as they boozed and partied it up. The film hit theaters just over a month after shooting finished, and the results speak for themselves.Переслать - 'Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters' Trailer Declares Witch Season Open
Well, it may be nearly a year late, but "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" will be hitting theaters this coming January, and now there is a trailer, letting us all know what kind of witch slaying is in store for us.
The revisionist fairytale stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the titular brother-sister duo. As Renner's narration explains, after their first famous run-in with a witch, Hansel and Gretel couldn't kick the habit and went into the hunting business.
Check out the first trailer after the jump!
Catching up with Hansel (Renner) and Gretel (Arterton) 15 years after the traumatic incident involving a gingerbread house, the siblings have evolved into vengeful bounty hunters dedicated to exterminating witches. Over the years, the siblings became expert hunters, famous for their proficiency at tracking and taking down their prey. Although still recovering from their ordeal, their work is relatively easy as for an unknown reason harmful spells and curses do not work well against them.
The Mayor of Augsburg recruits them to rid the town and nearby forests of an evil sorceress (Janssen) who is planning to sacrifice many local children at the witches' gathering during the upcoming 'Blood Moon' night in two days time. To make things worse, the duo also has to deal with the brutal Sheriff Berringer (Stormare) who has taken power in Augsburg and conducts a very indiscriminate witch-hunt of his own.

Переслать - Michael Bay Addresses Leaked 'Ninja Turtles' Script
Last week, a draft of the script for the much maligned "Ninja Turtles" reboot made its way onto the internet and thanks to several reviews, the most notable coming from Latino Review, the fan outrage found a whole lot more fuel.
At the heart of the controversy was the supposed structure of the reboot, which casts the turtles as supporting alien characters, there to help a Shia LaBeouf-like character defeat a militarized Foot and a villain called "Schrader," instead of Shredder. It all sounded a little too much like "Transformers" to many fans.
Michael Bay, whose Platinum Dunes is producing the currently stalled project, took to his site Shoot For The Edit to addressed the leaked screenplay and the issues people are taking with it.
The leaked script for Ninja Turtles that different sites continue to comment on was written well before I, or anyone at Platinum Dunes, was involved with the project.
That script saw the shredder a long time ago.
This is tired, old news -- Wait for the movie!
Michael
Bay posted one more time in the thread to clarify the mismatching dates on the screenplay and his version of what happened. While Platinum Dunes had signed onto "Turtles" years ago, a deal was not in place until the end of last year, right before the date on the leaked draft.

Переслать - Third 'Hobbit' Film Gets Release Date, Second Becomes 'Desolation Of Smaug'
Warner Bros. cleared up the remaining question marks about a third "Hobbit" movie from Peter Jackson and company over the weekend with the announcement of an official title and release date for the final film of the fantasy trilogy.
"The Hobbit: There And Back Again" will hit theaters on July 18, 2014, seven months after the second installment—the newly renamed "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug"—opens on December 13, 2013.
That new title may sound familiar as it was one of the potential titles that Warner Bros. had registered around the time of the announcement of the third film. The title comes from Middle-earth geography and the map found at the beginning of the book and featured in the story. The Desolation of Smaug is a location in Middle-earth, where the legendary dragon destroyed a city after taking hold of Lonely Mountain.
Переслать - Zachary Quinto Teases 'Intense Action' In 'Star Trek' And 'American Horror Story'
Zachary Quinto is quite the busy bee these days, juggling multiple acting gigs, development work with his Before the Door production company and being a part of the jury for The Wrap's "ShortList" film festival. As such, he's a hard man to track down so once you do, you have to maximize the opportunity and poke for some updates on his most buzzworthy upcoming projects: the "Star Trek" sequel and "American Horror Story."
Speaking to the top secret "Trek 2," we asked Quinto to name his favorite day of filming.
"It's hard to narrow it down. That was a long shoot in a lot of great ways," he said. "There was a really intense action sequence that I got to participate in pretty primarily this time, and that was really different and exciting for me, so I look forward to watching that come together and seeing what J.J. [Abrams] does with it. But just the whole experience, I have such an affinity for J.J. and for that cast, we get along in a very unique and special way and I think we're a part of each others' journeys in a really unique way as well, so I look back on the whole thing with fondness, although I will say I'm grateful that it's over."
We then mentioned that we hoped to see more of the romance between Quinto's Spock and Zoe Saldana's Uhura.
"Well, we shall see... you'll be the first to know," he said.
Yeah right, Zach. Moving right along to creepy "American Horror Story," we asked Quinto what new muscles he gets to flex this season versus his brief appearances in the first season.
"We're in the middle of that. It's a really different story from the first season," Quinto said. "I'm in this whole season whereas last year I was only in a few episodes, so I have a lot more of an arc to track, the character, but it's incredibly fun and I love the ensemble of actors that are working on that show. It's one of the favorite things I've done on television in terms of the nature of the work and the dynamic on set. It's a really special group of people so I'm really stoked to be among them. It's a fun world to play in. There's a lot to discover and create."
