- Arnold Schwarzenegger Gets Back To The Choppa! In 'Breacher'
We know that it's been said before, but Arnold Schwarzenegger is back, really back this time. To mark the joyous occasion, the action star agreed to a lengthy sit down with Empire to talk past and future films, in particular "Breacher" from director David Ayer and a possible fifth "Terminator."
According to Schwarzenegger, "Breacher," formerly known as "Ten," will take on the ensemble format that made him enjoy "Predator" so much. The larger cast, in Schwarzenegger's eyes, takes some of the spotlight off of him and allows him to have a smaller-scale comeback.
"All of these projects are appealing because they give me the chance to slowly come back rather than rush into it," Schwarzenegger said. "I like the idea of starting again, but trying to come back halfway down and working my way slowly back up again. So that's the idea, to do more personal stories and ensemble pieces like 'Predator.' "
Schwarzenegger also revealed that his new film will share more than a large cast in common with the 80s sci-fi classic. " 'Breacher,' especially, will be very like a new 'Predator,' " he said. "It's a team around me and they get knocked off until there's only me left. Except in this case, there will be a different twist to the whole thing instead of some alien monster."
As for the long-in-development fifth "Terminator" movie, Schwarzenegger said he hasn't heard much. "I think (producer) Megan Ellison owns the rights to 'Terminator 16,' or whatever it is," he said. "They have been trying to put a script together but I've not seen it, so I've no idea. There's nothing on the drawing board at this point. Nothing on the plan."

Переслать - 'Cloud Atlas' Gets Even Huger With IMAX Release, New TV Spot
It's been interesting to watch the premise for "Cloud Atlas" be trimmed down into shorter and shorter teasers ever since the movie's epic six-minute-long trailer debuted back in July. The first TV spot for the movie has now arrived, and it does just as effective a job getting us excited for the movie in 30 seconds as the longer trailers have.
The TV spot comes via the movie's official Facebook page, and it also heralds some other exciting news about the Wachowskis/Tom Tywker collaboration. Warner Bros. and IMAX announced today that the film will be released in select IMAX theaters as well as regular theaters starting October 26. This is great news for the project, which received good reviews when it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The Wachowskis consistently create cinematic spectacle, and we're glad that Warner Bros. has decided to honor this challenging film by putting it in IMAX theaters. "The Matrix" movies and "Speed Racer" were also released in IMAX, but "Cloud Atlas" is a different breed of film than those projects. Hopefully the next Wachowski flick, "Jupiter Ascending," also gets the same IMAX treatment.
"Cloud Atlas" has one of the most impressive casts of the year, including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Susan Sarandon, Hugo Weaving, Jim Broadbent, Jim Sturgess, Ben Whishaw and James D'Arcy. Each actor tackles a variety of roles in the movie's six different storylines. As the film's official synopsis describes, "Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future."

Переслать - New 'Hobbit' Poster And Trailer Create Middle-earth Deja Vu
Could you do us a favor and pause the new trailer for "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" just for a second? We have more stuff to show you.
Ok, thanks for that.
After an eventful Tolkien Week, filled with the kind of Middle-earth geekiness that we've been living on in the lead-up to December, director Peter Jackson sprinkled one last morsel on top of the already generous trailer.
A new poster for "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" premiered on Jackson's Facebook page, and it features Bilbo Baggins aka Martin Freeman in a pose that should be familiar to "Lord of the Rings" fans, but that shouldn't be the only thing from Tolkien Week that resembled material from the previous trilogy.
The new poster for "The Hobbit" bears a striking resemblance to the teaser poster for "Return of the King," featuring Viggo Mortensen as Aragon, which was modeled off of the very first teaser for "Fellowship of the Ring."
On top of those similarities, Total Film noticed that several shots from the new trailer match those featured in the preview for "Fellowship of the Ring." You can judge for yourself with some composites the site created.
While we're not going to go as far as accusing Jackson of plagiarizing himself, it's kind of comforting to see that "The Hobbit" is shaping up to be a true follow-up to "Lord of the Rings." While it would have been interesting to see del Toro's vision of Middle-earth, Jackson's return looks to be complete and faithful to the movies we already love.

Переслать - 'End Of Watch' And 'House At The End Of The Street' Lead Slow Box Office Weekend
This time of the year, the awkward limbo between summer blockbusters and fall award bait, is always particularly slow at the box office with winners taking in significantly less than usual, but this past weekend still managed to confound most analysts.
No clear winner emerged from the pack of three new films at the top of the box office, "End of Watch," "House at the End of the Street," "Trouble with the Curve." By the end of the weekend, "End of Watch" and "House at the End of the Street" pulled ahead in a slight lead over "Trouble with the Curve," but both films ended up with approximately $13 million.
The other newcomer, "Dredd 3D," opened in a disappointing sixth place, taking in $6.3 million.
Head over to MTV Movies for a full rundown of this weekend's box office results.

Переслать - Emma Watson's 'Perks' American Accent: Tip-Top Or Terrible?
In "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," Emma Watson does her best to pull off an American accent, something she first attempted with MTV News' Josh Horowitz during the first installment of "American Talk."

Переслать - 'Knight's Tale' Becoming A TV Show From 'Battlestar Galactica' Showrunner
Ron Moore is heading from outer space to medieval times. The "Battlestar Galactica" showrunner will next tackle a television version of "A Knight's Tale" that has been picked up by ABC.
Deadline has the news, reporing that "the series is expected to stay close to the premise and the style of the movie -- it is described as a medieval fantasy incorporating modern music and themes that follows the journey of a young man who starts out impersonating a knight of the realm and ends up becoming one." The 2001 feature film starred Heath Ledger as the titular knight, Shannyn Sossamon as his love interest and Paul Bettany as Geoffrey Chaucer.
As fans of Moore will know, he's more than adept at adapting previously successful projects to the small screen. Though it might seem like a strange choice to have him tackle "A Knight's Tale," we'd argue that this is some of the best television news we've heard in a long time.
First off: if you haven't seen "Battlestar Galactica" already, fix that. Moore managed to take a cult-hit from the '80s and turn it into one of the best television series of the past decade. "Battlestar Galactica" might have taken place on a spaceship after much of the human race was destroyed by a race of sentient robots known as Cylons, but it examined many political and moral issues that are pertinent today. Just watch the abortion or union-centric episodes and tell us it's not great TV.
With that in mind, Moore could do great things for "A Knight's Tale." As long as ABC gives him the right amount of freedom, he could tell the fun, rock 'n' roll story of a man trying to find his place in the world while also offering up a critique of our society. If there's anything that shows like "Breaking Bad," "The Sopranos" and "The Wire" have taught us, it's that the more challenging a TV show is for its audience, the better it likely will be for them as a whole. Also, we just really miss "Battlestar Galactica."

Переслать - 'Promised Land' Trailer: Matt Damon And John Krasinki Face Off
Gus Van Sant has tackled some touchy subjects in the past, from school shootings to gay rights, but his new movie "Promised Land" is sure to ruffle even more feathers. Corporate America, be warned.
The first theatrical trailer for "Promised Land" has hit the web and it shows that the movie should be able to balance some of its touchy subject matter with an inspirational and uplifting story. The flick stars Matt Damon as a salesman who works alongside Frances McDormand's land leaser to try to acquire areas of the country rich with natural gas for a multi-billion-dollar corporation. He heads to the struggling fictional town of McKinley and seemingly has convinced them to sell their land when an environmentalist played by John Krasinski shows up and makes both Damon and the town change their perspectives on giving up their country.
As Krasinski's character says in the trailer, "We're not fighting for land ... we're fighting for people."
"Promised Land" has drawn a lot of attention ever since it was announced a year ago (although it got its title much later). The flick was originally pegged to be Damon's directorial debut off a script he co-wrote with Krasinski, which was based on an idea "The Office" star and Dave Eggers came up with. Van Sant ended up picking up the project after Damon decided not to direct. It will have a limited release stating December 28 to qualify for the 2013 Oscars, and we can see it having a pretty good shot based on this trailer.
When MTV News caught up with Krasinski back in January, he said that the movie mixes both comedic and dramatic elements in a way similar to a Coen Brothers movie.
"It's a little bit of both. I don't think anyone can do the Coen Brothers kind of thing [like they do], but it's in that world of there's a little bit of both," Krasinski explained. "We're just throwing everything into these characters. My theory is that if you care about the characters then you care about the movie, so that's where we're going with it."

Переслать - Max Thieriot On 'Bates Motel': It Will Be 'Fascinating And Different'
While Max Thieriot will be creeping people out on the big screen this weekend in "House At The End of the Street," on the small screen, he'll be playing the brother of one of cinema's ultimate creepsters, Norman Bates, in the A&E TV series, "Bates Motel."
The show is meant to be a prequel to the iconic Alfred Hitchcock film, "Psycho." The series has also nabbed Freddie Highmore as Norman and Vera Farmiga will play mamma Norma. It will run for ten episodes, and Thieriot explains to MTV News that he's looking forward to introducing the world to Norman's big brother Dylan.
"I think it'll be really awesome. It's really great people behind the camera, in front of the camera," he said. "I think it's some great actors and a great producing team. And, I'm excited to work for A&E. I think what's cool is it's also ten episodes so it's kind of limited you know but you know you're going to be getting a lot of good stuff in those ten episodes," he explained, before breaking down his love for Hitchcock and the film the series is based on.
"I'm a big Hitchcock fan. I think what's neat is for myself a character like Dylan Bates, who I'm going to play, is obviously unknown in the movie because you never see Norman Bates' brother," she said. "So I think what's cool about that is it leaves so much up to the writers and to me and everybody to kind of come up with something really fascinating and different."
