  • Buzz Bites (4/27/12): Watch Katy Perry Perform 'Part Of Me' On 'American Idol'

+ Katy Perry took to the "American Idol" stage to sing "Part of Me" last night. It was a rockin' entrance: Katy and dancers, all dressed in military garb, rappelled from the ceiling before performing the tune. (Just Jared)

+ Lana Del Rey's "Blue Jeans" gets the electro treatment, courtesy of Smims & Belle (also known as Foster The People's Mark Foster and Isom Innis), while Azealia Banks drops some fiery rhymes. Listen to the remix here. (Rap-Up)

+ The Killers' saxophonist Tommy Marth, who was found dead on Monday, died of an apparent suicide. Reuters reported the coroner ruled he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was 33.  (MTV News)

+ Wiz Khalifa said he harbors "no ill will" towards Waka Flocka Flame in his interview with "RapFix Live." Flocka dissed Wiz in an interview in December. "I don't have problems with people, because if I do, I address it," Khalifa said. (MTV News)

+ Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" has been certified platinum in the U.S., having sold 1.2 million copies, according to the R.I.A.A. They love her in Germany, too, as photos of her signing autographs for fans in Berlin illustrate. (Just Jared Jr.)

+ Selena Gomez taped a "Funny or Die" video yesterday. "Just finished shooting with @SelenaGomez! Brace yourselves for the best video of all time," Funny or Die tweeted along with a cute photo of Sel, which she retweeted. No word on when it will post, but we're keeping a lookout. (@selenagomez)

  • Video Premiere: Sarah Jaffe, 'Glorified High'

Sarah Jaffey's hair is the envy of everyone. Incredibly, her music is even better.

So we have more than a little bit of a crush on Sarah Jaffe. The Texas-based singer-songwriter inhabits the kind of lushly delicate but still throbbing and glitchy folktronica that first grabbed our attention about Ellie Goulding, plus just about the coolest Robyn-esque hairstyle we've ever seen. Swag? Yep, pretty much.

Watch Sarah Jaffe's "Glorified High" video after the jump.

Sarah's video for "Glorified High," the gorgeous new single from her just-released album The Body Wins, sees the chanteuse sharing the spotlight to an impossibly cool 11-year-old dancer who has, um, moves like Jagger, and then some. "I kept coming back to the idea of a kid dancing," Sarah told us. "So I went through this slew of videos of little kids doing the Dougie and the Jerk, and somehow came across Emily -- it was this amazing video of her and her choreographer Mikey Trasoras who choreographed all of Emily's moves for the video. We really lucked out. Her delivery for each move is so on point."

"On point" doesn't even begin to do it justice. We only have one question: Emily, can you teach us to dance? I'm being f'reals.

  • Watch A Preview Of Nicki Minaj's 'Starships' Video, Premiering Tonight On MTV!

So, in case you haven't been to the gym yet today, you're probably going to find time to work that in your schedule after watching our exclusive sneak peek of Nicki Minaj's "Starships" video. It's a short clip, but it's still enough to get googling who the hell Nicki's trainer is.

In the "Starships" preview, we see Nicki frolicking on the beach in a pink bikini and green wig. (Much more riveting than it sounds, I assure you.) Under a washed-out lens, Nicki jumps around in the water as she raps, and we get a whole new understanding of her nickname "Harajuku Barbie." Um, she basically looks like a Barbie. Head to toe.

+ Watch a sneak peek of Nicki Minaj's "Starships" video below, and check out the full video premiering tonight on MTV at 7:56 p.m. ET!

  • Star Spotting: Demi Lovato Delivers Pizza To Fans, We're In (Even More) Love With Her

Demi Lovato delivers pizza to fans in Brazil!

Let's take a moment to thank technology/ our eyes/  the universe for allowing us to experience this phenom photograph of our two most favorite things in the world IN THE SAME PLACE: Demi Lovato and pizza! Also, hey pizza delivery joints, here's a solid business model: Instead of adding cheeseburgers and chicken fingers to spice up your pies, just tell your customers that Demi's your new delivery driver. We guarantee that would rake in the dough.

The "Give Your Heart A Break" singer may be a guest as she tours through South America, but she knows better than to show up to a party empty-handed -- so she brought the 'za! Demi tweeted a pic of her generous snack and the caption "My Sao Paulo fans waited outside my show forever... so I got them these pizzas!! Love you guys!!!" Girl is SO SWEET and supersmart -- she knows the way to her gazillions of fans' hearts is through their stomachs! Besides, we honestly can't think of a tastier way to offer apologies than the infamous U.S. culinary staple. (Unless she served up some Dippin' Dots -- those things are so damn good.)

  • Ingrid Michaelson Covers Rihanna's 'We Found Love,' A Cappella! (VIDEO)

Singer Ingrid Michaelson puts her own spin on Rihanna's smash "We Found Love.'

Indie singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson is performing on "Conan" tonight and what better way to celebrate this monstrous achievement than by releasing a sick cover of Rihanna's "We Found Love"? In fact, if I was singing on "Conan" tonight, that's precisely how I'd celebrate as well. #soulmates

Listen to Ingrid Michaelson's cover of Rihanna's "We Found Love" after the jump.

And yes, we know what you're thinking: Does the world really need another "We Found Love" cover? Probably not, but make an exception for Ingrid's dope take on Rihanna's club hit. Rather than a straight-up acoustic version, Ingrid decided to get all a cappella on our asses. While there are no instruments to be found, Ingrid is shown recording several tracks on loop, which, when played together, create a lush yet folkie version of Ri's smash. Ingrid's quirky vocals allow the song to take on a whole new vibe, and while we can't really see her version being played up in da club, we're absolutely sure it'll be all the rage in coffeehouses and cafes worldwide. Well played, girl.

  • Demi Lovato Announces North American Summer Tour!

In between earning a gold record in Brazil for Unbroken and just being generally amazing, Demi Lovato also found the time to plan, announce and prepare for a full-fledged SUMMER TOUR!  The "Give Your Heart A Break" singer has confirmed that the 21-date North American tour will kick off June 12 and feature special guests Hot Chelle Rae and Owl City. The tour will travel across the country, including stops in Boston, L.A. and Chicago.

In addition to performing her certified platinum hit "Skyscraper," Demi will perform all the tunes from Unbroken. We also have a sneaking suspicion that Dem and her tourmates Hot Chelle Rae will probably whip out some dope renditions of their duet "Why Don't You Love Me" as well.  On top of all this, Demi will probably wear some sick outfits, turn out some killer cover songs and do a bunch of other stuff that makes us insanely jealous.

Peep DemiLovato.com for more info. Also, gurl, throw a sister a backstage pass wouldja?  I'm a die-hard Lovatic!

  • Why Aubrey O'Day's New Single, 'Wrecking Ball,' Is Going To Reignite Her Career In A Big Way

Hey Aubtorage! (Yes, that's you.) I'm Sam Lansky, and this is my column, "Pop Think," where we talk about the good, the bad and the ugly of the pop music world -- but this week, there will be no "bad" or "ugly" involved. Why? Because my subject is the great Aubrey O'Day (who will for the duration of this piece be referred to interchangeably as "Aubrey O'Slay," "Aubrey O'Legend," "Flawlessbrey O'Day" and "Godbrey O'Day" -- feel free to pick your favorite), who rose from the ashes of Danity Kane like a phoenix, ascending gloriously to take her rightful throne at the top of the charts. (OK, I'll stop now.)

In all seriousness, Aubrey has always been underrated, remarkable more for her big personality, flashy style and uninhibited demeanor than for her considerable music talents -- but then, she hasn't always had the material to show it off. All that is changing with the release of her latest single, "Wrecking Ball," an infectious pop-rock nugget that sheds the glitzy dance vibes of her past singles in favor of an ultra-radio-friendly sound, songcraft at its very finest and vocals stronger than ever.

With a new platform buoyed by her appearance on "Celebrity Apprentice," a deal with SRC Records/Universal Motown and a refined sound that diverges from the house-influenced dance-pop currently dominating the Hot 100, Aubrey is back and better than ever -- and this week, I'm taking a look at how she's primed for a major musical takeover. You ready, Aubtorage? This is not another love song.

From her first appearance on MTV's "Making the Band 3" back in 2004, it was obvious that Aubrey O'Day was a star. A preternaturally self-possessed HBIC who held her own through the in-fighting and obstacles that made "Making the Band" so compulsively watchable, Aubrey became the breakout star of the show and its resulting band, Danity Kane, a five-piece girl group who released two major albums (2006's Danity Kane and 2008's Welcome to the Dollhouse), including two top 10 hits, the grimy urban swag-before-it-was-swag-anthem "Show Stopper" and 2008's mind-blowingly good "Damaged." (If you haven't heard the Siik remix of "Damaged," brace yourself for a major popgasm.)

Read more about Aubrey O'Day's new music after the jump.

But amid rumors of intragroup discord and band mastermind Diddy's growing dissatisfaction with Aubrey's ultra-sexy image, Aubrey was dismissed from Danity Kane, prompting the group to split altogether following the release of Welcome to the Dollhouse in 2008. From there, Aubrey focused her efforts on building a brand through a series of reality TV endeavors. Her 2011 Oxygen series, All About Aubrey, followed her as she got back into the studio and ultimately signed a solo record deal while battling with her team, weight and the media. Most recently, she is appearing on Season 5 of "Celebrity Apprentice," where (at press time) she is one of the six finalists still remaining on the show, despite a dramatic spat with Arsenio Hall and Clay Aiken last week. ("A dramatic spat with Arsenio Hall and Clay Aiken" is not a phrase I ever imagined writing when I declared myself an entertainment writer a few years back, BTW.)

Aubrey has gained more of a following for being a performer and a personality than for being a vocalist. Her vocals on Danity Kane's two albums and later, on solo songs like her cover of "Party All the Time" and first single "Automatic," are breathy and provocative, not chill-inducing in their clarity. "Automatic" kicks off with robotic synths before Aubrey's Auto-Tuned voice intones of "Look at my body, it's so official/ Every time they see me, I shoot over like a missile."

A shift away from that sound is part of what makes her new single, "Wrecking Ball," such an exciting artistic development for her. It's a midtempo with production that's less flashy and allows the space for Aubrey's voice to shine. Honeyed and emotive, her vocals rise above a snare: "Instead of breathing, I keep holding my breath/ This love is leading us nowhere." The chorus is strong and melodically charged: "You think you can read my mind/ But this is not another love song/ Don't even waste your time, I'm already gone." It's sounds like a pumped-up reimagining of Jessica Simpson's "With You," with more bitterness and disillusionment. It's no surprise that it was co-written and produced (alongside fellow songwriter Steven Miller) by David Hodge, who helmed Kelly Clarkson's disenchantment anthem "Because of You." "Wrecking Ball" was also penned by and features background vocals from my girl Pia Toscano, a finalist on last year's American Idol who was an early front runner to win. Her premature ejection from the competition caused an outcry among viewers. Given that she had a hand in writing this pop gem and has a solo deal with Interscope Records (her debut single, last summer's "This Time," was another example in exceptional pop midtempo finery), it kinda seems like Pia's getting the last laugh here.

And the reality is that Aubrey's earlier tracks such as "Automatic" and "Hitchhiker" failed to garner the kind of commercial success that they deserved, so Aubrey is smart to be shifting directions with "Wrecking Ball." Personally, I'm gunning for her to continue working with talents like the team from this song. She has the vocal talent and the bright persona to continue making this particular brand of pop, which packs an emotional weight and commercial appeal that the niche draw of a song like "Automatic" didn't. Now, all she has to do is continue putting them to work -- and I can't wait to watch her demolish the charts like oh, say, a wrecking ball.

  • Selena Gomez Makes Cupcakes With Taylor Swift, And It's Pretty Damn Cute (PHOTO)

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have a singing/dancing/cupcake party.

It's no secret that Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez are besties. Yet somehow every time we see photographic evidence we still flip out and get a bunch of mushy feelings inside. Yesterday Sel tweeted an action shot of her, Taylor and a few other close pals baking, dancing, twirling and singing. Along with the adorbz pic, Selena wrote, "Because you need a best friend that sings beautifully, another best friend to dance with you and another to listen. Oh and cupcakes... Cupcakes."

Upon closer examination of this photo, we'd like to point out a few things: Though she's at home, Taylor still took the time to look stunning and wear the girliest dress we've ever seen. Selena is mad chill in her sweats (we love her in a "lounging at home" look), and the homemade treats look seriously gourmet. Throw in some nail polish, a pillow fight and perhaps "The Notebook" on loop, and you've got a celebrity girls' night that's not to be messed with.

Funny thing is, the song Taylor is casually strumming is probably her next No.1 hit, and the cupcakes will probably be the catalyst for the next  Mrs. Fields cookies or whatever. Just a coupla powerful chicks hanging out at home. No biggie.

Guys. Something bad happened. Well, in our opinion at least: We're down to the Sweet 16 in our EPIC Battle Of The Boy Bands, and the results are going to shock you. "Why," you ask? GREAT QUESTION. Because Backstreet Boys AND *NSYNC seem to be missing from the list ENTIRELY.

But that's how these fan tournaments work, guys. It's up to the fans to vote for the best boy band ever, and apparently us BSB and *NSYNC voters didn't cut the mustard. (Why is that a saying?) But the silver lining here is that there are still many bands in the running who we're pulling for (but obviously we can't let you know who... our secret!). Justice will prevail!

  • Ke$ha Tweets A Photo Of Herself Peeing In The Street. Because Of Course

Ke$ha should stick to glitter, not peeing on the street.

While we have a verrry strict "keep the door closed when using the bathroom" policy around here, Ke$ha clearly has a much different outlook (um, it's understatement o'clock). We get that Ke$ha's like, the queen of IDGAF (see also her recent mooning moment), but Ke$ha took it upon herself to tweet a photo of herself peeing on the street in L.A. and then shared it WITH THE ENTIRE WORLD! We can't even... Also, people of L.A., YOU ARE NOT SAFE!

The "Blow" singer snapped the GYOP (which, in this case, the "G" stands for GROSS!!!) and tweeted it along with the caption "pee pee on the street. PoPo come n get me if u can find meeee. I blame traffik." At first we thought Ke$ha was possibly sharing new lyrics for some song's she's been working on (they're sorta poetic... in a very Ke$ha way), but the photo she leaked (pee wordplay!) proves that she's taking care of a whole other kind of business.

We can't judge Ke$ha too much (you're lying if  you've never pulled a pee moment in public after a late night of barhopping downing too many Big Gulps), but may we suggest that the same "voice" that told Nicki Minaj to dump Twitter start whispering some serious "TMI, girl" ish in Ke$ha's ear?
