- Selena Gomez Takes On 'Raw' Role In 'Spring Breakers'
'It's completely different than anything I've done before,' she tells MTV News about the part in the flick.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Kara WarnerDespite its sunny title, it seems that Selena Gomez's next film is going to be anything but a joyful romp.
With "Kids" director Harmony Korine at the directing wheel, "Spring Breakers" will take a turn for the dark and unwieldy. Which is fine for 19-year-old Gomez, whose film docket is quickly getting filled up with films that could make Disney execs blush.
The flick follows a group of college girls (played by Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and "Pretty Little Liars" star Ashley Benson) who rob a restaurant to pay for their spring break. After landing in jail, they quickly become entangled with a drug and arms dealer who bails them out. James Franco stars in the film as the corn row-wearing bad guy.
"It's really fun. It's completely different than anything I've done before," she added. "People are going to be a little surprised, I think, by the choice. But it's such a good movie. It's real. It's raw. It's about actual spring break and it's just, they kind of take it to a whole other level." She gushed about the chance to work with Korine, who she said took her acting to a new level. "It's great. The freedom we had, I mean Harmony, the director, was so flexible with us," she explained. "He just really allowed us to push ourselves, which was nice. He never said we did anything wrong. He just said it was a choice. He gave us these locations and just said, 'Act like you're on spring break.' "
In addition to "Spring Breakers," Gomez is also attached to a thriller with Ethan Hawke, "The Getaway," as well as Eli Roth's next flick, "Aftershock."

The Weekly Rising takes a closer look at how Warner Bros. is getting fans involved.
By Kevin P. Sullivan
Christian Bale on the set of "The Dark Knight Rises"
Photo: Getty ImagesThe massive amount of buzz that preceded the release of "The Dark Knight" in large part came out of the film's intricate viral marketing campaign. For the third and final film of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, Warner Bros. has mostly opted out of a big viral effort, favoring sparse but mostly traditional material releases.
But with the arrival of the final "Dark Knight Rises" trailer, dedicated fans will find that a virtual hunt for the anonymous vigilante known as "The Batman" is on, and a new viral campaign is in full swing.
The journey begins at the website for the film. There you will find a full dossier on John Doe (a.k.a. The Batman) and the charges he is accused of: six counts of first degree murder, three counts of kidnapping, and 15 counts of aggravated assault of a peace officer; the list goes on.
The premise of the campaign is that in preparation for the upcoming Harvey Dent Day, the mayor of Gotham City has ordered a "redoubling" of efforts to catch Batman and anyone supporting his return. It's important to remember that in the world of "The Dark Knight Rises," this is all happening seven years after Batman took the fall for Harvey Dent's crimes and death.
The site also includes an extensive list of real-world locations where "graffiti related to movement in support of the vigilante's return" is supposedly located. The spots appear around the globe and include dozens of locations in the U.S. alone.
Loyal fans have already been tweeting and emailing from the locations listed on the site, and each location marked off the list has revealed a single frame of film from the upcoming trailer. The stills have been appearing one-by-one here, so if you scroll fast enough, maybe you can make yourself a handy flipbook.
As with the previous viral campaigns for the series, it's likely that we'll have to wait until most or all of the frames have been restored to the online film strip.
Be sure to check back here throughout the next few days, as we keep an eye on the campaign and bring you the first sign of the final "Dark Knight Rises" trailer.

Actress sees Widow's relationship with Hawkeye as 'another movie.'
By Kara Warner
Scarlett Johansson in "The Avengers"
Photo: Disney/ MarvelThere are only a few more days left to wait until "Marvel's The Avengers" is unleashed upon the masses and moviegoers everywhere get to revel in the superheroic feat of director Joss Whedon in fully fleshing out so many characters in one giant movie. Two of those characters who get significantly more screen time than they've had in previous Marvel outings are Black Widow/ Natasha Romanoff (played by Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye/ Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner).
Although we don't see their backstory in the film, the two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents have obviously spent a considerable amount of time working together and share a deep connection and mutual respect. When MTV News caught up with Johansson recently, we asked for her thoughts on what direction their relationship might take in future Marvel movies.
"I see that as another movie," Johansson's co-star Mark Ruffalo answered first.
"They do work very well together," Johansson admitted. "And I do know that Marvel is invested in the S.H.I.E.L.D. world. I do think you need a bit of the fantasy to keep it alive unless you go really dark with it. I'm hoping that if the fans give the nod of approval that there will be a future for Hawkeye and Widow somewhere in that S.H.I.E.L.D. world. Although I'd like to take the Widow story way back," Johansson added.
"To the origins?" Ruffalo asked.
"Yeah, it would be fun to do an origin story," she said.
No matter where Black Widow ends up, Johansson has said she's just happy to have survived the filming of "Avengers."
"We all took a pretty big beating," she said. "The stunt sequence that I've been the most proud of is probably my fight with ... " Johansson stopped abruptly. "Actually, I don't know if I can say! All I can say is that I had to fight someone else in this film, and they beat the crap out of me in stunt rehearsals. I have to say I could not believe it," she recalled. "I was like, 'Can you hold it back, OK? You know, I'm trying to work it out here. I've got smaller muscles than you.' I was dragged across the [floor]. When we finally finished [filming] that scene, I was just happy to be alive."

Kings die, dragons flourish and wildfire abounds in the latest episode of the HBO fantasy series.
By Josh Wigler
Gethin Anthony as Renly Baratheon in "Game of Thrones"
Photo: HBOJust as the warlocks of Quarth welcome you to the House of the Undying, so too do we welcome you to this week's "Game of Thrones" recap! Shadow babies are a thing of the past, blue-lipped magic-users lurk about in the distance, and the threat of fire rages everywhere. As always, Westeros remains a wicked and weird place to live, but a place we love visiting every week. Keep reading for this week's highlights!
The King Is Dead
The War of Five Kings is down a player. Renly Baratheon, youngest brother of late King Robert, has joined his elder stag in the great beyond, thanks to the powers of Melisandre's shadow baby, a ruthless but calculated move on warmongering Stannis' part. Sad though it is to see Renly go, we benefit from his death in a few ways: 1) The Tyrell family is on the defensive, and that's going to make queen-in-the-making Margaery Tyrell a very interesting player to watch; 2) Loras, meanwhile, is feeling mighty vengeful over his lover's death, and there's nothing quite like a Knight of Flowers scorned; 3) It proves that Stannis is willing to go so far as committing fratricide in pursuit of the Iron Throne; 4) Renly's death pushes Brienne into Catelyn Stark's camp, the beginning of a great new chapter for both characters; and 5) We got to see a shadow baby assassinate a king. Really, how bad can that be?Fists of Fury
Way up north, far beyond the Wall, Jon Snow and his companions finally reach the Fist of the First Men, a stronghold for the men of the Night's Watch. It's a site with great historical significance for the ancient order of warriors, both for what's happened in their long ago past, and for what's yet to come. Will Jon be around to see these coming events? Perhaps not — he's taken a dangerous assignment under the guidance of ranger Qhorin Halfhand, a living legend within the Watch, to stealthily ambush and kill Wildlings on their way toward dismantling Mance Rayder's assembled army of free folk.Mother Of Dragons
Far east — really far east, if the opening credits' map is to be believed — Daenerys Targaryen and her khalasar are resting and eating well in Qarth, the greatest city that ever was or will be. A few new players are brought into the mix this week: the warlocks of the House of the Undying, blue-lipped magicians with unclear purposes; and Quaithe, a masked priestess of Asshai who is bound to resurface from time to time to offer mysterious words regarding Dany's future. We also gain new insight into Xaro Xhoan Daxos' interest in Dany — he, like so many men, wants to marry the exiled Westerosi princess and profit from her dragons — while new light is shed on Jorah Mormont's true feelings for Dany, already obvious to anyone with a brain. As for Dany herself, she's spending lots of time with her dragons, teaching them to breathe fire onto meat upon her command. Well-trained dragons mean a well-armed army, and Dany's certainly on her way in that regard.Catching Fire
Dragons aren't the only source of fire in the world of "Thrones." In King's Landing, Tyrion Lannister makes the terrible discovery of thousands upon thousands of pots filled with wildfire, a highly flammable substance that could level the capitol of Westeros in one miscalculated move. Apparently, Queen Regent Cersei has commissioned the stuff in anticipation of an attack from Stannis Baratheon and his men. Now, Tyrion has co-opted the order and plans to use the wildfire for his own means. Exactly what he has planned is anyone's guess, but knowing the Imp's sharp mind, it's probably a better plan than whatever his sister was cooking up.Only Death May Pay for Life
Death hasn't swept King's Landing just yet, but it's all the rage in Harrenhal, the great castle in the Riverlands where Arya Stark is currently serving as Tywin Lannister's cup-bearer. There, she runs into the assassin Jaqen H'Ghar for the first time since saving his life some episodes earlier. He claims to owe Arya three lives in return for the lives she saved: his own and his fellow prisoners Rorge and Biter. All she has to do is name the people she wants dead, and the deed is done. A deal that looks too sweet on the surface pans out exactly as articulated, as Arya's first intended victim — the torturous Tickler — is found in Harrenhal with his head halfway twisted around, thanks to the stealthy work of Jaqen. Photo: Rihanna's FacebookIf there is a downside to what I do (talk to very talented, beautiful people), it's that sometimes you're sitting in between Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker, Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgård and you realize, wow, I must look like Golem next to them. But let's not harp on my insecurities. Let's instead focus on that genetically blessed quartet who star in the new film "Battleship," opening May 18. I'm pleased to report that they're a great bunch and absurdly entertaining to talk to.
You can catch my full interview with the gang on MTV.com following the premiere of an exclusive action scene from the film during "MTV First: Battleship" tonight beginning at 7:56 p.m. on MTV. Having already seen "Battleship," I can tell you this clip really captures the mayhem in this blockbuster.
Anyway, what did I learn in my chat with this group? Well, no matter how freakishly gorgeous you might be, the grass is always greener on the other side. Rihanna revealed she'd like Brooklyn's boobs (her words, not mine), and Brooklyn retorted that she's envious of Rihanna's um ... well, her ass. As I said at the time, this was the best debate ever.
Movies don't come much bigger than "Battleship." Clearly if you have a "Transformers" itch for spectacle, this is the summer for you. But if there's a side story worth talking about amid the 'splosions, clearly it's Rihanna. I spent a good portion of the sit-down with the cast talking to the pop-star-turned-actor and was duly impressed. Humble, self-effacing and quick to joke, count me in the Rihanna fan club from here on out. She's got the right attitude and knows she has plenty to prove as she makes the move into acting ("Battleship" is her debut).
And if you're not rooting for Taylor Kitsch, you are hereby my enemy. "John Carter" took a lot of knocks (most undeserved in my opinion), but this guy takes his gigs seriously (even if the films don't look all that serious) from a distance.
I know what you're thinking. They're all gorgeous and awesome? Annoying, right?
Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Rihanna and Brooklyn Decker will hit MTV's airwaves Monday, April 30, at 7:56 p.m. ET to premiere the exclusive clip, after which they will stick around for a meaty 30 minutes of Q&A on MTV.com.

The Avengers faces a tough battle if they want to top Katniss and company's expected $400 million domestic earnings.

Jennifer Lawrence in "The Hunger Games"
Photo: LionsgateAfter its sixth weekend in theaters, The Hunger Games" is still lighting up the box office. Katniss and company's cumulative gross is currently a whopping $601 million worldwide, after raking in $11.2 million in the U.S. and another $7.4 million overseas this weekend.
Standing tall at #4, the dystopian franchise's weekend dip was 23 percent, which is the lowest decline yet for the movie (its second weekend in theaters saw a 60 percent drop), according to Box Office Guru. And it wasn't far behind third-place "The Lucky One," which earned $11.3 following its second weekend.
It looks like the assembly of Earth's mightiest heroes won't even be able to stop Katniss' estimated goal. With "The Hunger Games" sitting comfortably with a domestic total of $372.4 million, it's going to take more than Thor and his mighty hammer to bring "Marvel's The Avengers" to the top. If "The Hunger Games" can rake in $400 million domestically (like box-office experts predicted), it would outperform the first films in both "Twilight" and "Harry Potter."
As audiences gear up for the highly anticipated Marvel film, only time will tell what this weekend will bring the first film in Katniss' franchise. And as far as the success of a sequel since Gary Ross is no longer on board to direct, it isn't something Josh Hutcherson, who plays Peeta, is particularly worried about.
"Gary, I think, brought so much to the movie, and he created that whole world that was so close to the book and so perfect in so many ways that it's going to be hard for Francis [Lawrence] to come in, for sure," Hutcherson told MTV News at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. "But Francis is extremely talented and everyone I've talked to says he's the best guy in the world. So I think he's going to bring a lot [to the sequel]."

'He's got a wry sense of humor about himself,' actor tells MTV News at Tribeca Film Festival.
By Kevin P. Sullivan
Mark Ruffalo at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of "Avengers"
Photo: Andrew H. Walker/ Getty ImagesOf all the actors coming together to form the Avengers, Mark Ruffalo decidedly had the most to prove. After two previous Hulk films left fans largely unsatisfied, a new actor in the role could either lead to another letdown or, finally, to a version that felt true to the comics.
Fortunately for Ruffalo, early reviews of "The Avengers" overwhelming point to his version of Bruce Banner as one of the highlights of the film. MTV News caught up with Ruffalo at the closing-night ceremonies for the Tribeca Film Festival to get his take on the Hulk's positive reception and to find out what was different this time around.
Ruffalo felt the pressure that came with the role of the Hulk as soon as he signed on to be the third actor in as many films. "It was very daunting. I've never had a part so harshly reviewed before I even shot a single frame of film," he said. "The fanboys had a lot to say about it — granted, they had a great deal of care about this part and a lot of sentimentality as well, as do I, growing up on it."
The actor said that the latest technology gave him the biggest advantage over the first two iterations of the character. "There have been other great performances as Banner. The only real edge that I had was that the technology had changed so much since that last movie that I actually got to play the Hulk," Ruffalo said.
This latest version of the Hulk takes a different approach to the character, giving him a dry sense of humor about his condition, but Ruffalo gave credit to both Eric Bana and Edward Norton for helping lay the foundation in the first two films.
"I just think it's a natural progression of the other performances. When you find the guy at this point, he's tired of running. He's got a wry sense of humor about himself," Ruffalo said. "He's ready to turn and face the world. He's got a charming world-weariness that's kind of knocked the edges off of him and made him slightly more accessible."

Film breaks records in Mexico, Brazil and other foreign markets a week ahead of its U.S. opening.

Chris Evans as Captain America In "The Avengers"
Photo: Walt Disney StudiosThe Avengers have already begun their world domination. Marvel's crossover movie opened in 39 foreign markets over the weekend, a week before its scheduled U.S. release, and the records have already started to shatter.
Premiering in only 70 percent of the total foreign territories, "The Avengers" has already earned $178.4 million. That total includes record-breaking opens in Mexico, Brazil, Taiwan, the Philippines, Hong Kong and seven other markets, according to Box Office Mojo. Australia's $19.7 million total was the second-highest opening in that country's history.
The $178.4 million total at the international box office ranks as only the ninth-highest foreign opening ever, but it should be taken into account that large markets like China and Russia won't get "The Avengers" until later this week, the same day it opens in the U.S.
Box Office Mojo predicted that "The Avengers" could end up with $600 million at the foreign box office alone, a figure "The Hunger Games" just passed with its global total.
Early tracking and box-office analysis have already predicted that when "The Avengers" does finally open Stateside, it will be enormous. Several experts have projected a possible domestic opening week of around or above $150 million. That opening would put the film well above the series' best debut, "Iron Man 2," which opened in the summer of 2010 to $128 million.
If "The Avengers" were to open above the $150 million mark, it would then be in contention for one of the highest U.S. opens of all time. The current champ, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" opened to $169 million last year.

Kristen Stewart
Photo: MTV NewsSince landing the role of the accident-prone heroine in "The Twilight Saga," Kristen Stewart has sought gritty indie roles that test her acting abilities and cause a stir among fans, the first being her role as a stripper and prostitute in "Welcome to the Rileys." She then cut off her long locks and donned a choppy, black bob to play Joan Jett in "The Runaways." And later this year, she'll portray 16-year-old marijuana enthusiast Marylou in the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's novel, "On the Road."
But that's just the beginning for the 22-year-old actress. According to Variety, Stewart is set to star in the bold action flick "Cali."
The film centers on Mya (Stewart) and Chris, a couple from San Fernando Valley who sell a fake snuff film and disappear with the money. But Mya — who's thought to be dead — must head back to Cali years later to save the younger sister she left behind. When she and Chris return, they're faced with an array of characters, including "angry former business partners, homicidal porn stars, stoner vet techs [and] an unstoppable killing machine in a cowboy hat."
Michael Diliberti ("30 Minutes or Less") penned the script and will produce along with Voltage Production's Craig J. Flores ("300") and Zev Foreman. New School Media's Brian Levy is the executive producer alongside Nicolas Chartier ("The Hurt Locker") of Voltage and Stewart herself. This will be the actress' first producing credit.
"Kristen is a talented and dynamic actor, with a proved box office draw," Flores told Variety. "Her role in 'Cali' will be edgy and sexy. It will no doubt push the envelope on the public's view of Kristen's wide-ranging abilities. Voltage is thrilled to have her as a partner on this fantastic film."
The project is still in the early stages of development, so there's no release date yet, but audiences can catch the actress in "Snow White and the Huntsman" in theaters June 1. Later, Stewart's dynamic year will continue when she reprises her role as Bella Cullen in

Photo: Screen Gems ProductionsIt was the calm before the storm at the box office over the weekend. "The Avengers" smashed records as the Marvel/Disney powerhouse flick began to open overseas, but in North America (where it has yet to open), "Think Like a Man" was able to top the box office for a second weekend with a relatively soft $18 million.
"The Avengers" was #1 in all 39 foreign territories where it opened, taking in $178.4 million around the world. The superhero team-up flick that unites Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye set box-office records in places like Mexico, Brazil, Taiwan, the Philippines and Hong Kong. "The Avengers" is now #9 on the all-time foreign-openings chart despite the fact that it has yet to open in China, Russia or Japan. It opens this weekend in the U.S.
Domestically, "Think Like a Man" faced competition from four new movies that all underwhelmed with their debuts.
"The Pirates! Band of Misfits" was #2 with $11.4 million. The stop-motion animation movie is the latest from Britain's Aardman Animation, whose "Arthur Christmas" opened at $12.1 million in November of last year. In positive news for the film, "Pirates!" has already recouped its estimated $50 million budget worldwide. At press time, it also enjoyed a 86 percent "Tomatometer" score on Rotten Tomatoes, which aggregates reviews from film critics. "It makes for an experience that, while geared toward younger, more fidgety audiences, has enough humor to keep Mom and Dad from falling asleep," The Washington Post reported.
"The Five Year Engagement" was a dud at fifth place with $11.16 million, much lower than director Nick Stoller's "Get Him to the Greek" ($17.5 million) and his previous collaboration with Jason Segel, "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" ($17.7 million). "Engagement" producer Judd Apatow's "Bridesmaids" opened with $26.2 million last spring.
Jason Statham's "Safe" was #6 with $7.7 million, which was lower than the opening weekends for both his "The Mechanic" ($11.4 million) and "Killer Elite" ($9.4 million). Rounding out the weekend's new wide releases, "The Raven" was #7 with $7.3 million. The movie stars John Cusack as a fictionalized version of Edgar Allan Poe.
"Think Like a Man," featuring a story based on the self-help book from comedian Steve Harvey, has earned $60.9 million in two weeks against an estimated production budget of just $12 million. Zac Efron's "The Lucky One" dipped to #3 on the box-office chart with $11.3 million in its second weekend for a two-week gross of $39.9 million. "The Hunger Games" was #4 with $11.3 million. The first entry in the planned trilogy has made $372.5 million domestically to date.
Of the movies in the top seven, only "Pirates!," "The Hunger Games" and "The Five-Year Engagement" have done well with critics. Reviews for "The Raven," which was directed by James McTeigue ("V for Vendetta"), have been particularly harsh. "It's just a bore; quoth the raven, 'Go see something else,' " wrote Associated Press movie writer David Germain.
Which movies are brave enough to do battle with "Marvel's The Avengers" this weekend? Smaller, limited-release films like "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" (starring Tom Wilkinson, Maggie Smith, Judi Dench and Bill Nighy), horror flick "Mother's Day" (from the maker of the second, third and fourth "Saw" movies) and Miley Cyrus' "LOL" will be the only movies attempting to sneak in under the radar alongside what is sure to be one of the year's biggest movies.
Critics are already heaping praise on "The Avengers," which follows on the heels of the already well-reviewed precursor Marvel movies "Iron Man" (94 percent Tomatometer), "The Incredible Hulk" (66 percent), "Iron Man 2" (74 percent), "Thor" (77 percent) and "Captain America: The First Avenger" (79 percent). Christie Lemire of The Associated Press proclaimed, "The dialogue sparkles as brightly as the special effects; these people may be wearing ridiculous costumes but they're well fleshed-out underneath. And so in every regard, this movie truly fulfills its hype." Justin Chang of Variety agreed: "Like a superior, state-of-the-art model built from reconstituted parts, [director/co-writer] Joss Whedon's buoyant, witty and robustly entertaining superhero smash-up is escapism of a sophisticated order."

'It's an opportunity to have a performance that will be talked about forever,' band says of taking the Movie Awards stage on June 3.
By James Montgomery
Nate Ruess of fun.
Photo: Getty ImagesGiven that Fun. are the first musical act announced for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, you'd think they'd be privy to all sorts of insider info on the big show, like potential hosts, nominees, etc. But, you'd be wrong. Turns out, they're just as much in the dark as the rest of us.
"We haven't heard anything. Who's going to be there?" frontman Andrew Ruess laughed. "Jackie Chan? Jon Bon Jovi? They better be there, for sure."
Sadly, we can't vouch for either gentleman's availability on June 3, when the Movie Awards air live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. But we can tell you that the guys in Fun. are planning on making the most of their time on stage, by going big with their performance of chart-topping smash "We Are Young."
"It's one of the most flattering things that's happened to us on this rollercoaster ride of this song and this album, because I just remember watching all those award shows — like the Video Music Awards and Movie Awards — and you always wonder like how they're doing it, what their big reveal is going to be, all those other type of things," Ruess said. "We've had meetings about how our set's going to be and what it's going to look like, and it's so exciting. It's so exciting how much effort MTV puts into this show, like, we have to show up and play the song, but they build this whole entire world around us, and it's so amazing."
"It's also an opportunity to have a performance that will be talked about forever," guitarist Jack Antonoff added. "Like, I still talk about [the 2000 VMAs], when Eminem had the thousand people dressed like him, or when Smashing Pumpkins did 'Tonight, Tonight' [at the '96 VMAs] ... these are moments that, for us, growing up, last forever, and if we could pull off something like that, it would be amazing."
And as if being tapped to perform at the 2012 Movie Awards wasn't already a big enough deal for the band, there's also the fact that they've got previous MTV awards-show experience ... though, to be fair, this will be the first time they've actually been invited to attend.
"I went to the Video Music Awards when I was 14. My friend from camp had a friend who had a dad who was involved, and we sat near Rebecca Lobo and the Spice Girls," Antonoff said. "It was the year that Fiona Apple gave the big speech, which, in hindsight, was pretty inspiring. My mind was blown, and I thought 'This is just filled with famous people, and somehow I'm in the middle of it.' So, to be able to go back to an MTV awards show — not through a friend of a friend who has a dad who works at Viacom — but to actually be invited, is an honor."
The 21st annual MTV Movie Awards air live Sunday, June 3 at 9 p.m. ET/PT from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

We did training just before the shoot, speeding the boat, turning, learning how to shoot and handle the weapon, and two hours later we were shooting that scene."
The "Talk That Talk" singer has received nothing but rave reviews for her work in the film.
"She was great," director Peter Berg told MTV News of Rihanna's acting chops. "She has a very strong part. I was surprised no one had ever thought to hire Rihanna," he added. "I was a huge fan of her videos. Obviously she's sexy, but she had this real intensity. I'm like, 'Someone's going to get her.'
"When I met with her, she came in a T-shirt and jeans, no makeup, very natural," Berg recalled. "She was like, 'Look, I want to be an actress. Don't kiss my ass. Don't lie to me. Push me. Treat me as you would any other actor. Help make me good.' She is really, really good in 'Battleship.' "
Don't forget to tune in to MTV on MTV tonight at 7:56 p.m. ET to watch the premiere of the exclusive "Battleship" clip, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A with the film's stars on MTV.com, hosted by MTV News' Josh Horowitz. Photo: Getty ImagesWith the Avengers finally assembling next week, Marvel Studios and the stars behind the heroes have already begun to look ahead to the next films set in the comic-book universe. At the closing night celebration of the Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday night (April 28), Robert Downey, Jr. spoke with MTV News about the future of his character, Iron Man, and addressed recent talk about other actors playing the role in the future.
At CinemaCon last week, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige mentioned to Badass Digest that when it came time for Downey to leave the role of Tony Stark behind, a new actor could pick up right where he left off, like in the James Bond films.
But Downey told MTV News on the red carpet that he wasn't so thrilled about the idea of someone else playing Tony Stark. "I would really hate for someone else to think they could step into my shoes," he said. An infamous jokester, he couldn't help but ask, "I wonder who's playing Tony Stark next. Is it you? Is that what you're here to tell me?"
But Downey can't be Iron Man forever, and while the 42-year-old actor couldn't say for sure how many movies he has left in him, he made clear he'll be interested as long as they remain good films.
"I know things are looking like that they could go on for a long while," Downey said. "As usual in my book, it's all about quality control and delivering a product that you can have this kind of reaction to. If they keep doing that, maybe I'll keep showing up."
In Downey's immediate Marvel future, there's next year's "Iron Man 3." The past few weeks have seen actors like Sir Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce and Jessica Chastain potentially joining the cast, and Downey said that he could not wait to work with "any or all of them."
"It's funny. Sometimes you have to call for a good old-fashioned British invasion," Downey said. "'Iron Man 3' is really shaping up to be something special. We start in a couple weeks. I'm sure I'll be leaking secrets to you as we move ahead."
What secrets, you ask? Well, it was recently announced that "Iron Man 3" would be co-produced in China. As for whether any filming would take place in the East, Downey was less forthcoming. "I'd like to tell you all my secrets," he said," but I forget them."
