Переслать - Ben Foster Talks Sex, Victimizing And Connecting For His New Movie '360'
Fernando Meirelles's "360" tells a complex story of interweaving characters and plots, but what makes the tale so unique is that the connection between all the characters is sex. The intimate encounters of the film bring together an impressive ensemble that includes Anthony Hopkins, Rachel Weisz, Jude Law and Ben Foster.
In "360," Foster plays Tyler, a sex offender who was recently released from prison. The events of the film find Tyler in an airport and chronicle his encounter with a young woman played by Maria Flor. Foster talks about all of that and more in the exclusive interview below, all part of our continuing Summer Movie Preview week.
MTV News: How is it different for you as an actor to have a smaller role in a much larger, global film?
Ben Foster: The very nature of the structure of this film is that it's a world of supporting players. Thematically, it poses the question "Do we all affect each other?" As an actor coming in, it's fast. We're all in for a few days, and then we're out. It's different because there are no leads in the film.
MTV News: Tell me a bit more about your character, a recently paroled sex offender.
Foster: He's someone who's just trying to do the right thing. It's not that a sexual predator is released and he's just looking for his next prey. A theme of the movie is how we're always challenged with our primitive urges, in conflict with what we think is the right thing. I don't see him as a sex offender. This is a guy who did something that's criminal and, from my side, I was certainly in the corner that anyone who is a sex offender should be shot. Having the opportunity to spend time with the character and watching the tapes, these men and women who have committed the worst unforgivable crimes, you have to start somewhere. Looking into the face of evil and finding humanity is the greatest goal of an actor.
MTV News: How do you approach a character like that, one who is inherently unsympathetic?
Foster: In front of the camera, one isn't necessarily going for sympathy. From my own approach, so many of them have been victimized. How did they get there? It doesn't make what they did right and they should be punished. Everyone knows someone who has been victimized. The reason this man is in the airport is that he's on his way to a halfway house by his own volition.
MTV News: "360" is about people's connections with everyone on the globe. Those connections in the film are all sexual. What idea about sex does "360" put forward?
Foster: We all have urges. We all have fantasy lives. We all feel at some point undervalued by a lover or perhaps we undervalue our partner, be a mundane existence in a tired marriage or young love that has run off the fumes of early honeymoon romance. Straying happens. Desire exists. Sex is the mechanism for intimacy. We feel less lonely in the world. The film poses the questions from across the globe in a broad sweep. How do we feel less lonely in the world? Is it an affair? Is it addiction? I don't believe the film gives answers so much as it asks questions.
MTV News: The director, Fernando Meirelles, is known for his global films. What was it like working on set with him?
Foster: I couldn't speak higher of a director. He has an incredible eye. He is a family man. He's interested. It was a joyous set. I would work with Fernando on a puppet show. He's just the best.
MTV News: How did it feel knowing you were a part of such a revered ensemble?
Foster: It's an honor to play with these people, truly an honor. Watching Sir Anthony Hopkins work, there's a scene at the end of the picture at an AA meeting that is truly a masterclass.

Переслать - Exclusive 'Expendables 2' Photo: Don't Mess With Chuck Norris
Someone must have made some kind of mistake when they cast Chuck Norris in "The Expendables 2." By no means is he expendable. He's essential. He's Chuck Norris.
Part of MTV News' Summer Movie Preview week, our exclusive picture of Norris from the upcoming action hero all-star game should be enough to convince you of that.
Check out the full image after the jump.
Now you know what we're talking about. He's so badass he doesn't even care that there's clearly a car on fire behind him. Not only does he not care, but he doesn't bother to put on his sunglasses to shield his eyes from the blaze.
"The Expendables 2" is out in theaters August 17 and stars Sylvester Stallone, Chuck Norris, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis.

Переслать - Alice Eve Talks 'Star Trek' Makeup, Working With Benedict Cumberbatch
Little is known about Alice Eve's character in "Star Trek 2" beyond the fact that she's new to the "Trek" universe. If there's anything we've learned about the ultra-secretive production it's that we aren't likely to get any new details about the flick from the stars, so MTV News decided to go a different route when chatting with Eve recently about her role.
Instead of asking her about who she plays or what her purpose is in the "Trek 2" storyline -- both things we're desperate to know -- we asked Eve how long she's spent getting make-up applied to her on set. Judging by her response, it could be that Eve will be playing one of the film's many alien species.
"I'm a healthy amount of time in the makeup chair -- though not as long as Spock," Eve teased. "We were filming until very late last night, and I know that's all I can say. It's a top-secret operation; it's like a war."
Beyond that, Eve said she thinks there are a few things about her character that will really surprise her fans. Many know the British beauty best from her small part in "Sex and the City 2" or the romantic comedy "She's Out of My League," so "Star Trek 2" will be a big departure from her previous material.
"I'm having a lot of fun. It's a very special experience to be on J.J.'s movies, you know," she said. "He's a real good leader."
Of course, Eve also has some big genre movies coming out this year. First she'll star alongside John Cusack in "The Raven," and then she'll play a young Agent O in "Men in Black III." Eve also has roles in smaller films like "ATM" and "Decoding Annie Parker," but it's "Star Trek 2" which will likely be her big break.
Even though Eve is new to the series, she got to work alongside some old friends on the set. Eve worked with Benedict Cumberbatch in the British indie "Starter for 10" and also starred alongside Simon Pegg in "Big Nothing," both released in 2006. So she had a bit of a reunion on the "Star Trek 2" set with them.
"It's a true, true pleasure to see them again," Eve said. "Really fun."

Переслать - Hologram Tupac Beams Up 'Star Trek' Actor In Today's Twitter-Wood
Coachella audiences were shocked this past weekend when Tupac Shakur appeared on stage to perform with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. Thanks to some incredible Oscar-worthy special effects people, the rapper—who was tragically murdered back in 1996—was resurrected via hologram for this special performance. And it's got the world buzzing.
Now that Tupac's performing in holograms, maybe I can get him for a guest shot on, "Fresh Hell".
— Brent Spiner (@BrentSpiner) April 17, 2012
Brett Spiner, Data from popular sci-fi TV show "Star Trek," is no stranger to holograms, as they were a huge part of the show. The actor now hosts a sketch comedy web-series called "Fresh Hell" and mentioned Tupac's hologram making an appearance. You know what would be better? If Data met Tupac.
The android would no doubt be shocked by Tupac's use of language, but impressed by the technology used to create him. We imagine he'd want to study the advanced hologram, and possibly even talk about what it was like to go from a human with emotions to a mere projection of a person. Maybe Spiner should tweet @HologramTupac to get something in the works. We'd sure watch it!

Переслать - Exclusive 'Moonrise Kingdom' Poster: Meet Cousin Ben!
Our Summer Movie Preview Week continues with an exclusive look at "Moonrise Kingdom" character Cousin Ben!
The Wes Anderson film follows two twelve year olds who fall in love in the summer of 1965. They flee from their home island off the coast of New England and travel into the wilderness. As the Sheriff leads a search party to hunt them down, a storm approaches and their once peaceful home is shaken beyond anyone's control—which might be the town's saving grace. The all-star cast includes Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray and Tilda Swinton and Jason Schwartzman, who plays Cousin Ben.
Cousin Ben is a Falcon Scout and Legionnaire. He runs the Supply and Resources outpost at Fort Lebanon and knows what to do in a tight situation. It seems his character's antics may provide some comic relief to the drama. In our exclusive interactive poster, there's an image of Cousin Ben and his troop running across the bridge with the caption: "We've located the missing troop. They just fled camp. We're in pursuit. They're accompanied by a twelve-year-old girl in knee-socks and Sunday-school shoes."
But laughs aside, Cousin Ben proves to be a good leader by declaring to his troop what's really important. "Listen to me," he says. "We're here for friendship. We're going to get you off this island."
You can find out more about Cousin Ben by clicking on the poster to enlarge the photos and read quotes from the film. "Moonrise Kingdom" opens in theaters May 25, 2012.

Переслать - 'Skyfall' Stunt Gone Wrong Leaves Historic Istanbul Shop In Ruins
FROM NEXT MOVIE: Accidents happen, even when the world's greatest spy is involved. James Bond returns to the big screen later this year with "Skyfall," the 23rd movie in the storied franchise, and when it lands, it'll have left a whole lot of destruction in its wake... and not just the fictional blow-up-the-bad-guys kind.
Agent 007's latest adventure has left a 330-year-old shop in Istanbal's iconic Grand Bazaar destroyed, and it's no cinematic trick: a stuntman lost control of his motorcycle and thoroughly destroyed the store, and the shop owner is now one very unhappy customer.
"It is very nice for the Grand Bazaar to be chosen as a location for shooting this kind of movie. But the bazaar's administration… didn't notify us the shooting would be like this," said store owner Mete Boybeyi. "This place is regulated by the Council of Monuments. We can't even change our window without their permission."

Переслать - 'Muppets' Sequel Will Be A 'Caper' And Introduce New Characters
Calling all "Muppets" super fans - a sequel is in the works! This information comes straight from the source, co-writer of "The Muppets" and its imminent sequel, Nick Stoller.
MTV News caught up with Stoller at a junket for "The Five Year Engagement," his comedy starring Jason Segel. The "Jeff, Who Lives At Home" star recently announced his "man over muppet" decision, and sadly, the sequel will be sans-Segel. However, don't get too bummed, because Stoller revealed exciting news about the script.
"['The Muppets'] was an amazing experience and the movie came out so well, and we've started writing 'Muppets 2,'" he said. "James Bobin and I have been outlining it for a while. It is on."
The first movie rounded up the Muppets to update the old school puppet geeks as well as the next generation. Fans can also expect new things from the Stoller-Bobin collaboration in "Muppets 2."
"[In] the first movie, we introduce all the characters, and it was supposed to be nostalgic and emotionally hefty, and we did it. And we're now going to do a caper," he said. "It's gonna be a crazy, comedic, hijinks-y caper. I'm really excited about it. So it's kind of going a little bit more in that direction."
Staying true to the mystery genre, Stoller didn't divulge any clues to the "caper's" story line just yet. However, his description of "The Muppets 2" does sound like a reinvented homage to 1981's "The Great Muppet Caper."
Despite the new genre, fans of the first movie can still expect to see some familiar faces in the sequel, such as Segel's on-screen brother, Walter. When asked if any new muppets will be added to the repetoire this time around, Stoller remained vague.
"There might be, but Walter's back," he said. "It's really fun."
Disney is pushing to get the second installment of the light-hearted franchise out by Summer 2013, but for now Stoller and Bobin are still having fun with the script.
"The Muppets are just so much fun to write for. I mean, c'mon, the Muppets."

Переслать - 'Prometheus' Viral Video: What Can You Do, David?
Have I said yet that there's no movie in 2012 I'm looking forward to more than "Prometheus" already? Oh, I have? Just last week, you say? You'll have to forgive me — I'm going to be saying that a whole lot more, especially if the "Prometheus" viral campaign continues churning out the hotness like today's introduction to the Weyland Corp's David 8 model.
Just as Guy Pearce promised us, a new "Prometheus" viral video has indeed landed, this time focusing on Michael Fassbender's character, David. David is an android, described by the notorious company as the "next generation Weyland robot." The eighth model in the series (the Weyland website has a lot of information on the model's development) can "do almost anything that could possibly be asked of me," can "understand human emotions" without feeling them himself, among other perks.
Learn more in the video below.
It goes without saying that Fassbender thoroughly kills it in this video. One of the great breakout stars of the last few years, the man occasionally known as Magneto is a huge draw for me in my "Prometheus" anticipation, as he is for many other prospective fans, I'm sure.
There's some speculation that Fassbender's David is going to go the way of Ash when "Prometheus" rolls around — which is to say, go absolutely nuts and try to kill fellow crew members in order to protect Weyland's interests. I think that's way too predictable, and way too derivative of Ridley Scott's "Alien," to be repeated again. (I hope so, at least, but what do I know? I have faith in Scott/Lindelof either way.) My gut instinct is that David will be one of the very last characters standing, if not the last character, for the "Prometheus" end game. Nothing really to base that on more than a hunch, and an extreme desire to see Fassbender kick all kinds of Space Jockey butt on his own, cyber-Ripley style.
