Переслать - Gina Carano In Talks To Join 'Fast & Furious 6'
Mixed martial artist-turned-action star Gina Carano beat the crap out of more than a few famous faces in her breakout role in "Haywire." Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, she may be adding Paul Walker and Vin Diesel to that list very soon.
THR reports that Carano is in negotiations to join "Fast & Furious 6" as a member of the team bent on capturing the famed car thieves alongside Dwayne Johnson's character, Agent Luke Hobbs. Walker and Diesel are returning for their fourth appearances in the franchise, which found new life with its fifth entry, "Fast Five," last year.
Justin Lin is returning to direct, and the film is due out May 24, 2013.
Переслать - Johnny Depp's 'Lone Ranger' Look Inspired By Painting
When we finally got a chance to see how Johnny Depp would look as Tonto in the upcoming Gore Verbinski film "The Lone Ranger," it was clear he had taken a definite departure from the incarnation that came before him. Though it seemed a bit over the top in the vein of Depp's other flamboyant characters, he said in a recent interview that he was actually trying to make the character more authentic than Jay Silverheels' version from the 1950s series.
"I'd actually seen a painting by an artist named Kirby Sattler, and looked at the face of this warrior and thought: That's it," Depp told Entertainment Weekly. "The stripes down the face and across the eyes... it seemed to me like you could almost see the separate sections of the individual, if you know what I mean. "
When EW said no, they didn't know what he meant, Depp went on to explain how he felt the lines separated the man's emotional life.
"There's this very wise quarter, a very tortured and hurt section, an angry and rageful section, and a very understanding and unique side. I saw these parts, almost like dissecting a brain, these slivers of the individual," he said. "That makeup inspired me."
If you look at the painting (linked above), you'll see just how similar Depp's Tonto and this man look. It turns out that Sattler's portrait was also the inspiration for Tonto's unique new headdress.
"It just so happened Sattler had painted a bird flying directly behind the warrior's head. It looked to me like it was sitting on top," Depp said. "I thought: Tonto's got a bird on his head. It's his spirit guide in a way. It's dead to others, but it's not dead to him. It's very much alive."
It's nice to see that Depp has put so much thought into his "Lone Ranger" character. Armie Hammer previously told us that Depp is "a fantastic Tonto," and Depp agreed that he has some "interesting plans" for the character. One of those is shifting Tonto from sidekick to leading man.
"The whole reason I wanted to play Tonto is to try to [mess] around with the stereotype of the American Indian that has been laid out through history, or the history of cinema at the very least — especially Tonto as the sidekick, The Lone Ranger's assistant," Depp said. "As you'll see, it's most definitely not that."
"The Lone Ranger" is due out on May 13, 2013.

Переслать - Hugh Grant Talks Korean Slave-Owner Role In 'Cloud Atlas'
Leave it to the Wachowskis to end their four-year-long hiatus from Hollywood with a movie as crazy and complex as "Cloud Atlas." The adaptation of David Mitchell's novel had stars like Susan Sarandon thinking it was "impossible" to make, yet she seemed pretty confident about the finished product. Hugh Grant told MTV News in a recent interview that he was similarly overwhelmed by the Wachowskis' pitch at first, but ended up having a great experience with the movie.
"It's the strangest film, strangest script, strangest offer I ever had. To play six small parts, all of them appalling killers and rapists, and some of them 85-year-old men and others Korean slave drivers. I thought maybe they were having a joke at my expense when they asked me to do it. So I said, 'Is this a joke?' And they said, 'No man, we love you!'" Grant recalled in a pretty convincing American accent. "And so I said, 'All right, I'll do it,' and I loved it."
With all those characters to play, one would assume Grant had a favorite. And, boy, did he.
"It was hard not to love being the Korean slave owner," he said. "My slaves were Korean girls who were replicants serving in a fast food restaurant a few thousand years in the future, all in tiny little uniforms, and my job is to corral them and abuse them."
As Grant is not Korean, we figured he had to go through a major transformation to turn into that character. Grant confirmed that sitting in the make-up chair was "a pain in the ass." But that's not the only big change we'll see in the movie.
If you watch the above video, you'll notice Grant actually does a great American accent. It's something we haven't seen in his films...yet.
"You will in 'Cloud Atlas,'" he teased.

Переслать - 'Catching Fire' Director Francis Lawrence: Experts Weigh In
What do Francis Lawrence and Jennifer Lawrence have in common? Aside from a last name, they're both fixtures in the "Hunger Games" universe, with the former Lawrence stepping in as director of "Catching Fire" after Gary Ross decided to walk away from the franchise.
The hiring of Francis Lawrence has left some fans feeling divided. While many are enthused by the selection of the "I Am Legend" director, others aren't quite as sure about his qualifications for the second "Hunger Games" novel, perhaps the trickiest to adapt of the entire book trilogy. To get more insight into the situation, MTV News spoke with "Hunger Games" experts from across the blogosphere about Lawrence's hiring. See what they think about the choice in the video above.
Переслать - Christopher Mintz-Plasse Crosses His Fingers For 'Kick-Ass 2' In Today's Twitter-Wood
Chloe Moretz hinted for months at a "Kick-Ass" sequel. Jane Goldman, who co-wrote the script with Matthew Vaughn, said the duo probably wouldn't pen the next script, but would oversee the project as producers. And now, Christopher Mintz-Plasse says he'd be on board! With all the rumors and waiting it feels like "Arrested Development" and "Anchorman 2" all over again, but it worked out splendidly for those projects!
"@Zach_JC: @MintzPlasse Do you think you'll be up for Kick-Ass 2?" hope so. Fingers crossed, but no word yet
— Chris Mintz-Plasse (@MintzPlasse) April 23, 2012
The "Superbad" actor did say there's "no word yet," but wishing and hoping has worked for us in the past. I mean, "The Avengers" is happening, isn't it? Plus with all the hype Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises," "Thor 2," "Iron Man 3," and "Captain America 2," what better year to begin production on a second "Kick-Ass" film?

Переслать - Happy Shakespeare Day: Five Big-Screen Bard Gems
On this day way back in 1564, William Shakespeare was born... or not, because apparently his exact birth date isn't known. But today's the day we celebrate the man!.
If you're unfamiliar with the Bard, here's the briefest of introductions: Ol' Will gave us a lot of pretty poetry as well as some fine plays that are the inspiration for countless TV and movie adaptations. If you're like me, you may have supplemented your high school English class reading assignments with a few of those filmed adaptations (notice I wrote "supplemented" and not "replaced." I never did that).
So to celebrate the anniversary of Shakespeare's birth (and death, which was definitely on April 23rd), here are my five favorite films based on or inspired by works of the Bard.
1. "West Side Story" (1961)
One of the greatest movie musicals ever made, "Story" placed the "Romeo and Juliet" saga in the gang-controlled streets of New York City. The Jets and the Sharks danced and rumbled their way into film history.2. "Romeo + Juliet" (1996)
This was not director Baz Luhrmann's first film, but it certainly brought him to the attention of the masses. Luhrmann kept the original Shakepearean dialogue but made a movie that was modern, sexy, and very MTV. Leo DiCaprio and Claire Danes had just the right amount of youth, beauty and intensity for the lead roles.3. "Atomic Shakespeare" episode, "Moonlighting" (1986)
Watch a young, wig-wearing Bruce Willis struggle with iambic pentameter in this classic TV episode adapted from "The Taming of the Shrew." At the time, it was reportedly the most expensive hour of series television ever made. T'was worth every farthing.4. "10 Things I Hate About You" (1999)
Much like "Clueless" did for Jane Austen, "10 Things" brought the Bard ("The Taming of the Shrew" again) to high school. The cast was filled with talented, good-looking Hollywood up-and-comers: Heath Ledger, Andrew Keegan, Julia Stiles, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.5. "Much Ado About Nothing" (????)
Yes, I know, this movie isn't even close to being released yet. But given the fact that it's Joss Whedon directing Nathan Fillion, Amy Acker, Reed Diamond, Sean Maher and so many more Whedon vets, this will undoubtedly be my future favorite.Переслать - 'Ender's Game' Will Take To The Stars On NASA Soundstage
One of the movies we're most excited about in 2013 is "Ender's Game." The beloved sci-fi novel won us over since its release in 1985, and has been in discussions for a film adaptation ever since. It finally was greenlit last year, and we couldn't be more excited about the people who are going to be making the movie.
Turns out Bobby Cohen, who works with "Ender's Game" producer Roberto Orci, is pretty stoked too. When MTV News recently caught up with him on the "Now You See Me" set, Cohen played mum on details about the film's production, but he did express his excitement for the talent they had come on board.
"I have the great pleasure to work with Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, who wrote 'Mission: Impossible' and 'Star Trek,'" he said. "Our other movie is 'Ender's Game,' based on the incredible book that people have been trying to make forever. A lot of directors have tried to do it. We have an amazing script. Gavin Hood is directing, we've got Harrison Ford, Sir Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Hailee Steinfeld from 'True Grit,' Asa Butterfield from 'Hugo.'"
Hood, Orci and the rest of the crew on "Ender's Game" recently launched a blog to give some insider information about the movie while it's making its way through production. Cohen had his own nugget of information about the set that he shared with MTV News, and it's certainly fitting with the plot of the flick.
"There is a NASA stage where they literally used to build the rockets for the space shuttle that is now actually a sound stage," he said. "They will be spending 65 some odd days about 45 minutes from here on a big giant set. So that's going well."
Bottom line? "It's pretty great," Cohen gushed.
When MTV recently caught up with Kurtzman, he had similar excited sentiments to share.
"We're just happy to support the vision of the book," he added. "It's such a treasured novel and it's very rare that you get an opportunity to work on something like that so we were very psyched."
