Переслать - Val Kilmer Says He's Game For More 'Top Gun' Action
Fear not, "Top Gun" fans: Iceman's coming back, assuming he's still wanted.
Tom Cruise, Tony Scott and Jerry Bruckheimer are all reportedly on board for "Top Gun 2," according to an update from the leading man himself back in December 2011. But what about Val Kilmer, the man who butted heads with Maverick over land, sea and air as Tom "Iceman" Kazanski?
During a conversation about his newest movie "The Fourth Dimension" (we'll have much more on that for you tomorrow), Kilmer told MTV News that while he's "not yet" heard word from anyone asking him to sign on for "Top Gun 2," he's more than willing to get back into the cockpit.
"Sure, it would be fun," he told MTV. "I'd have to get a haircut, but anything for the role!"
"It's not like Jerry Bruckheimer isn't the most successful producer on Earth," he reasoned further with a laugh. "I was going around bragging. I did a little part just to hang out with [director Tony Scott] and Denzel Washington, on this movie 'Deja Vu.' I'm going around saying, 'Jerry's probably made $5 billion dollars,' I was guessing. And one interviewer said, 'You haven't read the [press notes]?' He just turned the page and there's Jerry's bio: $50 billion dollars, he's grossed. As soon as I read that, wow. He's got thirty or forty or fifty awesome secrets about how to make a big blockbuster."
Kilmer's clearly a fan of the guys on the "Top Gun" team, though you might not believe that depending on rumors you've read online.
"Somehow on Wikipedia, it got said - fairly recently, which proves how absurd it is - that Tom Cruise and I got in a fight [on the set]," he remembered, amused. "I have to remind people that that's what happened in the movie, but it didn't happen in real life. I think there would have been a story if we were actually physically fighting on the set, but... it didn't actually happen."

Переслать - 'Moonrise Kingdom': Six New Clips Tease The Story
As a kid, did you ever dream of escaping your hometown with a friend in search of an adventure? Well, if you never got to experience the thrill first hand, it's exactly what two twelve year olds do in "Moonrise Kingdom."
The Wes Anderson film takes place in the summer of 1965 and follows Suzy and Sam who flee from their home in New England to escape into the wilderness. The Sheriff rounds up a search party to hunt them down just as a storm approaches, and the once peaceful town is shaken up beyond anyone in the community's control. The ensemble cast includes Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton and Jason Schwartzman.
As we await the release of the film in May, we have six new clips to tide you over!
New Penzance
Penzance is a peaceful, quaint island off the coast of New England. It's the home Suzy and Sam run away from. In this quirky scene, the narrator describes the different features of the island and ends with a foreshadowing of the impending storm saying, "the ferocious and well-documented storm...will strike from the East on the 5th of September—in three days time."
Were You Followed?
We're introduced to Suzy and Sam in this clip as they meet in a vacant prairie ready to begin their adventure. Suzy brings along her cat and Sam presents her with flowers. He pulls out his map and tells her his plan of attack. Since Suzy trusts him, she accepts his strategy (and some beef jerky) and they're on their way.
Loaded Question
This comical clip sets up Suzy's hair-brained parents, The Bishops. Her mother calls her down to dinner using a megaphone. Upon learning from Suzy's brother that she took his record player and will return it in ten days or less, Mrs. Bishop again uses the megaphone to call to her husband (Murray). When he answers that he's upstairs, she leans out of the first floor window, looks up and proceeds with their conversation. "Does it concern you that your daughter has just run away from home?" she sternly asks. "That's a loaded question," he replies. With the search party that follows, we assume he really means "yes, dear."
I'm Deputizing The Little Guy
In this scene we see Captain Sharp (Willis) rounding up the troops to help in the search for Suzy and Sam. As one of the scouts spots a clue that confirms they're on the right trail, the Captain recruits "the little guy, the skinny one and the boy with the patch on his eye" to continue on with him until help arrives. The scene sets up Sharp's control and his no-nonsense approach to finding the children.
Juvenile Refuge
But if we thought Captain Sharp was in control, Tilda Swinton proves us wrong when she takes control in this clip playing Social Services. As she reprimands him and Scout Master Ward (Norton) for allowing the boy to escape, she says, "You two are the most appallingly incompetent custodial guardians Social Services has ever had the misfortune to encounter in a twenty-seven year career." Ouch. Sharp comes back saying that Juvenile Refuge is not the place for Sam, but Social Services finishes the argument with, "Find the boy and deliver him to Social Services. Nothing else is in your power."
The Most Important Decision In Your Lives
Cousin Ben (Schwartzman) helps Suzy and Sam on their adventure and in this scene we see the Falcon Scout offer to marry the twelve year olds. Well, he offers to perform the ritual since a marriage between two children will not hold up in any type of court. As he asks them if they love each other and are ready for the commitment, he expects replies of "no" and continues to get "yes." While he's willing to help the lovebirds, we learn his character is a good leader by looking out for their well-being.
Переслать - Patrick Swayze Plays Nice In 'Road House': Sick Day Stash
There's only one true Sick Day film for me, a film so utterly re-watchable that I was amazed to find that it hasn't already appeared in this column.
In 1989, at the height of his career, Patrick Swayze made an action film called "Road House" and changed the bouncer movie forever. A simple premise. Swayze is Dalton, the world's greatest bouncer, who goes from bar to bar, cleaning up the joint, so that nice people can have fun.
"Shut up, you've already convinced me," you say.
I know I have, but the beauty of "Road House" goes so much deeper than that.
Let's start with the Swayze himself. Most appreciations of "Road House" fall prey to the all-too-easy cynical approach, and Patrick Swayze usually gets roped into that conversation too often. When I say that Swayze embodied the all-American movie star during his "Dirty Dancing"-"Road House"-"Point Break" era, I do so without a hint of irony. It's easy to poke fun at his hair, "She's Like the Wind" or his clothes, but during the late 80s and early 90s Swayze was the kind of movie star that we don't see very often anymore. Whatever character, be it a dancer or a spiritual surfer/bank robber or the world's greatest bouncer, Swayze went for broke, sold it and clearly had fun every step of the way.
But that isn't to say that "Road House" isn't utterly ridiculous, because it is. At one point, a local crime boss orders a monster truck to drive through a car dealership that hasn't paid up. A stuffed polar bear falls on top of a morbidly obese henchman named Tinker. "Pain don't hurt," for crying out loud! Where modern American action films only have a tough guy and occasional sarcasm, "Road House" had fun.
Add to all of that a supporting cast beyond compare. The late, great Ben Garraza, a staple of Cassavates independent film scene in the 70s, looks like he's enjoying himself as the dastardly Brad Wesley more than I ever will in my lifetime. I'm pretty sure Sam Elliott showed up on set one day, and they let him be in the movie without telling him. Blind guitarist Jeff Healey slays throughout the film as the bandleader at the Double Deuce.
As easy as it is to mock, "Road House" has so much color that it makes the modern American action flick look completely bland by comparison, so next time you're feeling under the weather, take a trip to Jasper, Missouri to find out what I'm talking about.
And always remember to be nice.
Call them "cult classics." "Guilty pleasures." "Comfort movies." We all have a mental rolodex of flicks that may not be terribly popular but, for one reason or another, they resonate in a very special way. Maybe you saw it at the right moment. Maybe you just see gold where everyone else sees feces. Whatever the case, these are the special favorites that you keep stashed away for sick days. These are some of ours. Переслать - Tim Burton: 'Frankenweenie' Deals With Kids And Classroom Weirdness
by Ryan Rigley
It's been several years now since Tim Burton has graced the world with one of his stop-motion animated masterpieces: "Corpse Bride," released in 2005. "Frankenweenie" appears to be a return to form for the famed director. The film expands upon the live-acion short film of the same name that Burton made early in his career, and is also somewhat reminiscent of previous works such as "Vincent" and "A Nightmare Before Christmas."
"It follows pretty much the 'Frankenstein' story," Burton told MTV News when we spoke with him at CinemaCon. "But I guess this version you could probably relate it more to those movies like 'House of Frankenstein' or 'House of Dracula' where they kind of throw in a bunch of other monsters. Also, I was very interested in just remembering school and the kind of politics with the other kids and the weirdness, how weird kids can be and just sort of exploring that classroom vibe."
Like the short that it's based on, "Frankenweenie" tells the tale of a little boy who meddles with mad science after the untimely death of his pet dog. Also like its 1984 predecessor, the film will be in black and white as an homage to classic Universal monster movies. We can only imagine what kinds of monstrous pets Burton has sprinkled into the film.
"I tried to base them on a couple of my kids' pets, other pets that I've known and had, and have come and gone," Burton reveals about the other monsters in the movie. But only time will tell what these pets are exactly. In the meantime, we can only speculate on the possibilities. Here's hoping we get to see a Creature From the Black Lagoon-inspired goldfish! Or a Dracula cat!

Переслать - 'Lawless' Trailer Shows Us The Wettest County In The World
Things certainly do look like they've gone "Lawless" in the first trailer for the upcoming movie.
Formerly known as "The Wettest County in the World," the flick follows Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy and Jason Clarke as three brothers who start a business bootlegging alcohol during Prohibition in the 1920s. As you can see from the trailer (included after the jump), that only works out for so long for the Bondurant brothers.
The cast is what's really got us excited for this film. Beyond the three brothers at the center of the story, "Lawless" stars Gary Oldman as a gangster who gets the Bondurants started as alcohol deliverymen, Guy Pearce as "an overly violent deputy who comes down hard on the Bondurants," Mia Wasikowska as the girlfriend of LaBeouf's character and Jessica Chastain as a big city woman who was once mixed up with gangsters and ends up becoming Hardy's love interest.
As if that wasn't enough to get you excited, the flick has a great pedigree as well. "Lawless" reunites "The Road" director John Hillcoat with his "The Proposition" screenwriter Nick Cave. Pearce starred in that film as well, and he had nothing but good things to say about his "Lawless" cast members when Movieline recently interviewed him.
"It's an amazing cast," he said. "I mean, Jessica Chastain and Tom Hardy together? She's ridiculous, and Tom Hardy's extraordinary. Really, really extraordinary. And Shia was fantastic -– and Mia Wasikowska! I'm not just saying this, people always say this about the people they work with, but those four together are really, really special."
"Lawless" will make its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month, and is slated to hit theaters on August 31.

Переслать - Ricky Gervais Is Up To His Usual Mockery In Today's Twitter-Wood
Ah, Ricky Gervais. It seems like there's not enough words to describe him, but we're also rendered speechless when we think of his antics as a two-time Golden Globe host and the star of the original "Office." Currently, Gervais is filming "Idiot Abroad" specials with producer Karl Pilkington and actor Warwick Davis, who works with Gervais on "Life's Too Short."

"Idiot Abroad" stars Pilkington who reluctantly travels anywhere Gervais and Stephen Merchant make him—as they stay in the comforts of London and monitor his journey. The second season, titled "Bucket List," premiered in January and shows Pilkington crossing off once-in-a-lifetime opportunities; it's just been nominated for a BAFTA.

Переслать - Disney Confirms 'Muppets' Sequel, Pixar Announces Upcoming Movies
Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy have been making the media rounds a lot lately, and their stop in Las Vegas yesterday brought some pretty exciting news. It was at Disney's CinemaCon panel that president of production Sean Bailey announced that there will officially be a "Muppets 2."
This is something we've heard plenty about already, like the fact Jason Segel won't be involved and the movie will introduce plenty of new characters. But it's nice to have the movie finally confirmed by Disney so that we know we can look forward to it coming out... well, eventually. Bailey didn't have any more details to share about the movie other than the fact it is actually happening.
However, Disney and Pixar animation chief John Lasseter did have some news about Pixar's upcoming line-up.
It turns out the animation studio is trying to bring together a film based around the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos. The movie has no release date yet, but it will be directed by "Toy Story 3's" Lee Unkrich. Lasseter also announced that Pixar will be calling its May 30, 2014 dinosaur flick "The Good Dinosaur," while a 2015-launching untitled movie will take viewers "inside the mind."
The lucky attendees of the Disney panel were also privy to the first 30 minutes of "Brave," while we had to make due with a new trailer and clip. But the last bit of news out of the Pixar portion of the event charmed us the most: "Finding Nemo" is going to get a 3D rerelease at some point in the future. Please let that mean that we'll get a new short featuring Dory.

Переслать - Watch It: 'The Sound Of My Voice,' 'Veep' And More!
Brit Marling is not necessarily a name you know, but it's a name to keep an eye on all the same. The actress and co-writer of "Another Earth" is back this weekend with another flick that grounds science fiction with reality: "The Sound of My Voice," about a woman who might be from the future, or might just be a sadistic cult leader, depending on your interpretation. It's a fascinating film that left three of our writers wanting more.
Keep reading for more of what we've been watching in this week's Watch It!
Fallon Prinzivalli, MTV Movies editorial assistant:
I had the opportunity to attend a screening of Zal Batmanglij's debut feature "Sound of My Voice." Batmanglij co-wrote the script with actress Brit Marling, who also stars in the film. The story follows two documentary filmmakers, Peter (Christopher Denham) and Lorna (Nicole Vicius) who infiltrate a cult with the intent on exposing its mysterious leader Maggie. Maggie claims to be from the future and convinces her followers that they've been chosen to escape an impending disaster—as long as they follow everything she says. The film takes on an original concept that makes the audience re-think its views on community and the human need for inclusion. For Brit Marling's performance alone, I'd definitely recommend seeing the film when it hits theaters Friday.Ryan Rigley, MTV Movies contributing writer:
Look. I know that "Adventure Time" is technically a children's cartoon, but hear me out. Not only is the show beautifully animated, it also has an amazingly epic back story that can only be realized once one has seen multiple episodes. Finn, the last human on Earth, has taken it upon himself to become the hero that the mystical "Land of Ooo" needs. Surrounded by mythical and magical creatures of all shapes and sizes, Finn and his shape-shifting dog, Jake, must defend the seemingly endless array of princesses from the likes of trolls, zombies, fire wolfs, demons, vampires, and the mentally-unstable Ice King on a daily basis.Kevin P. Sullivan, MTV Movies editorial assistant:
With just two movies, Brit Marling has established herself as someone to watch. At the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, Marling co-wrote and started in two of the in-competition films, "Another Earth" and "Sound of My Voice." In the latter film, Marling stars as a cult leader who claims to be from the future, and to avoid spoilers, I'll have to leave it at that. As a writer, Marling has covered science fiction topics within the means of an independent film, and the results have been fascinating. As an actress, she projects intelligence in a way that few actors can. Fox Searchlight is just getting around to releasing "Sound of My Voice" in select theaters this week, and it is absolutely worth checking out.Marvin Van Buren, MTV Movies contributing writer:
This week I finally saw Gareth Evans' "The Raid: Redemption." The movie is amazing; I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time. The actions sequences are intense and brutal which left people in my theater applauding when Rama (played by Iko Uwais) battled his way through a hallway of gang members. This week I also saw Joe Cornish's "Attack The Block," another film I can't believe I hadn't seen before. Cornish does so much with a minimal budget and a lot of relatively unknown actors, but the special effects and performances exceed expectations. "Block" is easily one of the best alien invasion movies in recent years I have seen. John Boyega, who plays Moses in the film, will definitely get more work as an actor in the future. If you haven't yet, trust me: "Attack The Block" and "The Raid: Redemption" are two movies you need to watch.Josh Wigler, MTV Movies Blog editor:
I saw Val Kilmer in "The Fourth Dimension." It was light and fluffy and filled with cotton candy. That description makes about as much sense as the anthology movie itself, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the absurdity of it all. Less absurd, though still bizarre on paper, is "The Sound of My Voice," the low-level sci-fi flick from "Another Earth" rising star Brit Marling. "Earth" was among my favorite movies seen in 2011, and while "Sound" might not get that same distinction this year, it's definitely an interesting spin on the time-travel subgenre complete with an excellent performance from Marling, who needs to exclusively make weird pseudo-sci-fi movies for the rest of her life.Amy Wilkinson, Hollywood Crush editor
HBO's current Sunday night line-up gets my vote for the week's best night of television. With the epic return of "Game of Thrones" and the debut of Lena Dunham's buzzy "Girls," my DVR clearly isn't observing a day of rest. The newest choice addition to the pay network, "Veep," debuted last Sunday and follows the exploits of harried vice-president Selina Meyer (played to perfection by Julia Louis-Dreyfus). One episode in, I'm still contemplating its approval rating; I enjoyed it, but wasn't necessarily rolling with laughter in the congressional aisles. That being said, it's hard not to cheer for a series giving Anna "My Girl" Chlumsky a second act.Eric Ditzian, MTV Movies managing editor:
Friends, remember my TV? This Sunday, the living room in which it proudly stands was the scene of an epic movie-watching binge, thanks to the slashing, day-long rainstorm outside and a bloated Netflix streaming queue. Let's break 'em down individually:» We began with a second viewing of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," which I ended up enjoying, purely and simply, more than when I caught a screening last year. Gone were the inescapable impulses to compare the film to the book and the Swedish adaptation, giving way to a new appreciation for Daniel Craig's performance and a reinforced view that Rooney Mara gave the finest performance of any actress in 2011.
» Next came "The September Issue," the 2009 doc that takes you inside Anna Wintour's Vogue and the creation of the magazine's über-important fall issue. The journalist in me wanted less attention paid to the photo spreads and more time spent exploring the creation, deconstruction and recreation of the mag's words, but I suspect I'm in the minority here. The true star of the doc is Vogue's charismatic and conflicted creative director, Grace Coddington, who makes "September Issue" a must-watch even if you don't give a crap about Thakoon Panichgul's latest ready-to-wear collection.
» Finally, it was on to another documentary, Cameron Crowe's "Pearl Jam Twenty." Alas, it was more hagiographic portrait than objective look at a band with as much creative tension as hit records. Juicy pop-culture topics like Kurt Cobain's beef with the band and Eddie Vedder's debatably successful ascension to the role of the band's head musical honcho after 1993's Vs. are raised and quickly swept under the storytelling rug. Bummer. What's not a bummer? Watching three movies in a row on a rainy Sunday.
