- 'Breaking Bad' Coming Back July 15
Final season starts with eight new episodes this summer and ends with eight more next summer.

Bryan Cranston in "Breaking Bad"
Photo: AMCAMC announced its summer programming lineup Monday (May 21), and the highlight is undoubtedly the news that we'll be seeing Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) sooner rather than later. The expectedly explosive fifth and final season of "Breaking Bad" will premiere Sunday, July 15, at 10 p.m., starting with eight all-new episodes and ending with eight more next summer.
The highly anticipated news has been met with ecstatic reactions among the show's obsessive fanbase, particularly via a few dedicated celebrity fans like "Parks and Recreation" star and general funnyman Aziz Ansari.
"BREAKING BAD IS BACK JULY 15TH! F--- YES," he tweeted, an enthusiastic reaction that fellow fan John Legend shared and then expressed with a retweet of Ansari's excited sentiments.
Aside from the news about the premiere date, we don't know a whole lot about the final season of the Emmy-winning drama. We know it will be 16 episodes long, split into eight-episode runs with the second half airing in summer 2013, and we know that Walter White went darker than ever before at the end of season four. In addition, we got a nice video teaser of what to expect from the plot via the stars themselves recently, which included some thoughtful and crafty hints from Aaron Paul. All signals point to the fact that the show will not disappoint with regard to the "dark" and "dangerous" factors, and we wouldn't expect anything less.
In addition to the "Breaking Bad" news, AMC also announced the debut of its newest unscripted series, "Small Town Security," on Sunday, July 15, at 11 p.m. ET and the season-two premiere of the epic western "Hell on Wheels" Sunday, August 12, at 9 p.m. ET.
Переслать - Kristen Wiig's Movie Career: How Other 'SNL' Alums Have Fared
From Eddie Murphy to Will Ferrell and Tim Meadows, 'SNL' has a checkered record of minting movie stars.
By Gil Kaufman
Kristen Wiig in "Bridesmaids"
Photo: Universal StudiosSince its debut 37 years ago, "Saturday Night Live" has done two things incredibly well: skewer the day's headlines with a twisted, acid perspective and serve as a launching pad for some of the biggest careers in movie comedy history.
And following her tearful final spin on Saturday night's season finale, it appears clear that the show's ace player, "Bridesmaids" star Kristen Wiig, will be the latest breakout player to make a permanent leap from the stage at Studio 8H to movie stardom. Wiig has already tasted success with an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay for "Bridesmaids," and she has at least half a dozen features in various stages of shooting and development. We thought it was worth taking a look at how other "SNL" alums have handled the transition.
The Sandler
For some "SNL"ers, leaving the show was a case of never looking back. Among the most successful recent stars to pull off the difficult maneuver are Adam Sandler, who parlayed a five-year stint (1991-95) on the show into one of the biggest box-office comedy careers of all time. Though critics often turn their nose up at his predictable story lines, starting with 1995's "Billy Madison" and continuing through "Happy Gilmore," "The Wedding Singer," "The Waterboy," "Grown Ups" and Razzie favorite "Jack and Jill," Sandler has starred in, written and produced films that have grossed more than $3.4 billion internationally. From 1995-2002, Will Ferrell was the go-to guy on "SNL," and ever since his breakthrough role in 2003's "Old School," Ferrell has been on a (unique) tear, posting hits with "Elf," "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," "Blades of Glory," "The Other Guys" and "Step Brothers," along with co-founding the Funny or Die website and putting out such vanity projects as the recent all-Spanish flick "Casa de Mi Padre."
Though their careers have cooled off considerably over the years, many of the old-school "SNL" cast members have also killed it on the big screen, including Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, the late John Belushi and Chris Farley, Bill Murray, Billy Crystal, Dana Carvey, Martin Short and Mike Myers.
The Schneider
While some "SNL" actors make it huge, others carve out unique character niches in movies with the occasional hit but never quite grab the brass ring of stardom. Rob Schneider is the perfect example. He was hilarious in "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo," but has been better in running-gag cameos in buddy Sandler's films, including "Little Nicky," "50 First Dates" and "The Longest Yard." (See also: David Spade.)Andy Samberg, who is also rumored to be leaving the cast, has not proven a box-office draw yet, with little-seen films such as "Hot Rod" and "I Love You, Man" to his credit, along with an upcoming role in the Sandler movie "That's My Boy." He's also got a side music career going as part of the Lonely Island with his writing buddies from "SNL."
Though it's too early to tell, Maya Rudolph could be the stealth alum to have a long, varied movie career. She's appeared in so-so flicks like "Duplex" and "Duets," but also the underrated "Away We Go" and alongside pal Wiig in "Bridesmaids." She's currently on the hit TV sitcom "Up All Night."
She's killing it on TV's "Parks and Recreation" at the moment, but Amy Poehler has also been great in "Baby Mama" and in voice-over work in "Megamind," "Alvin and the Chipmunks" and "Monsters vs. Aliens." Still one of the greatest stand-ups of all time, Chris Rock has struggled to sustain a big movie career, alternating between memorable roles in "New Jack City" and "Madagascar," stage work, voice-over, stand-up and overseeing the TV series "Everybody Hates Chris."
The Meadows
Though long-running "SNL" cast member Tim Meadows was hilarious on the show, his movie career peaked with such sketch-worthy flops as "The Ladies Man," "It's Pat" and "The Cookout."Molly Shannon has also been stuck in bad sketch-based movies like "Superstar" and small roles in non-starters such as "Evan Almighty." Same goes for once-promising Jon Lovitz, who was great in "A League of Their Own" but has had to settle for bit parts in "The Benchwarmers" and "Southland Tales" lately.
Given her versatility, writing chops and, let's face it, movie star looks, Wiig seems a lock for The Sandler. But then again, that's what they all think.
Do you think Kristen Wiig will be a major movie star? Let us know in comments below.

The Lannisters and the Baratheons are gearing up for battle in season two's penultimate episode.
By Josh Wigler
Lena Headey and Peter Dinklage in "Game of Thrones"
Photo: Paul Schiraldi/HBOThe calm before the storm is upon Westeros — and that says a lot, considering that the so-called "calm" includes an obscenely abused prostitute in King's Landing, two charred hanging corpses in Winterfell, stolen dragons in Qarth and bruised, beaten prisoners of war north of the Wall.
But believe it or not, that really is just the palate-cleanser before a monumental battle strikes the Seven Kingdoms. All season long, HBO's "Game of Thrones" has warned viewers that "war is coming," and next week, it'll finally be here via the fabled Battle of Blackwater, an all-out slugfest between the Lannister forces and the trueborn Baratheons. Which side will win? It's too early to say. But no matter who emerges victorious, we can promise you this: Just as Daniel Day-Lewis as Daniel Plainview once warned, there will be blood.
Keep reading for a recap of this week's "Game of Thrones," which sets the stage for next week's epic battle.
The Princes of Winterfell
Theon Greyjoy has fallen hard throughout season two. Last year, he was simply an unlikable boy; now, he's a full-on baby-killer who doesn't know when he's lost. Theon's unquenchable desire to please his father and prove himself a worthy Ironborn has turned him into one of the most wanted men in Westeros. Even his sister Yara, typically the type to smack Theon across the face well before offering him words of encouragement, expresses her sibling loyalty to the younger Greyjoy, doing her best to get him the hell out of Winterfell before Northerners come calling for his head. Her words fall on deaf ears; Theon stays in Winterfell, and the bastard Ramsay Bolton is just days away from claiming vengeance on behalf of Team Stark. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Theon, the boys he's so desperately looking for — Bran and Rickon — are more or less right under his nose, hiding in the crypts of Winterfell. A brilliant hiding spot ... spooky but brilliant. The Seeds of Betrayal
Further north, Jon Snow's inability to kill the wildling girl Ygritte has led to his captivity at the redhead's hands, but it also might prove his saving grace: Ygritte clearly has interest in Jon, enough to keep him alive a little bit longer. (It doesn't hurt that the other wildlings, the Lord of Bones in particular, know that Jon's the bastard son of Ned Stark, either; that makes him a decent bargaining chip worth holding onto.) Another reason why Jon might flourish under captivity: Qhorin Halfhand, also a prisoner, is doing everything he can to distance himself from Jon, to make it clear that Snow betrayed his vows and the Night's Watch in keeping Ygritte alive. How much of it is Qhorin's actual wrath against Jon or just a ploy to weaken the wildlings? We'll have to keep watching to find out. What's a Stark Without Honor?
Jon Snow isn't the only Stark dealing with issues of honor. After his mother, Catelyn, betrays the cause by freeing the king-slayer Jaime Lannister and shipping him back to King's Landing with Brienne in tow — all in an effort to rescue Sansa and Arya from the Lannisters' clutches, mind you — Robb is left feeling more crushed than ever. With the entire North looking to him for leadership and his own flesh and blood betraying him — not to mention the recent treachery of his best friend Theon — the King in the North is understandably down and out. So who can really blame him for doing the proverbial "dance with dragons" with Talisa of Volantis? Sure, he's promised to a Frey, but the man's got needs, and it's clear that this is more than just a physical fling. That said, there's also no doubting that Robb's dishonored himself by blemishing his pledge to marry a daughter of House Frey. Just how badly that comes back to haunt him and his is something we'll see in the future, I'm sure. The Wolf and the Lion Break Up
More heartbreak for Team Stark, though this is more of the viewership variety: The secret "Tywin Loves Arya" show-within-a-show is now at an end. The Lannister patriarch leaves Harrenhal to defend King's Landing against Stannis, without so much as a parting word of advice for the young wolf. Their dynamic stands out as one of the highlights of season two, and it'll certainly be missed in the episodes to come. Still, Arya's continued friendship with faceless man Jaqen H'Ghar remains a strongpoint of the season, and I suspect we're not completely finished with their kill-happy partnership ... not just yet.War, War Everywhere
King's Landing has been a spit-show all season long, and come next week's episode, it'll be a full-on bloodbath. The upcoming episode is appropriately titled "Blackwater," as in the bay King's Landing sits upon and the site of the impending battle between Lannister loyalists and Baratheon banner-men. Sunday's episode perfectly set the stage: In King's Landing, Tyrion does his best to keep himself together in light of Cersei ordering the prostitute Ros beaten beyond recognition (because she incorrectly believes her to be Tyrion's lover), the peoples' growing mistrust of Tyrion despite his behind-the-scenes efforts to protect them, and the very real threat of war coming to the Seven Kingdoms' capital in just a few short hours. Out at sea, Davos Seaworth is given the unexpected news that if Stannis beats Joffrey and claims the Iron Throne, the title of Hand of the King will be his. Without a doubt, the stakes are big on both sides of the battle, and it's hard to find someone to root for: Davos is likable enough, and Stannis, hard as he is, is certainly a better pick for king than the cruel Joffrey. But even though the Lannisters are horrible people, Tyrion's on their side, and we love Tyrion. What happens to the Imp if Stannis and his men win the day? For Tyrion's sake, let's hope we don't find out.Tell us what you thought of this week's "Thrones" in the comments section below!

The Bee Gees made their mark on pop culture with their contributions to 'Saturday Night Fever.'
By Fallon Prinzivalli
Robin Gibb
Photo: Getty ImagesThe disco-music world lost another soldier just days after its queen, Donna Summer, passed away. On Sunday, Bee Gees member Robin Gibb died after a long battle with colon and liver cancer.
The musical group composed of Gibb and his brothers Barry and Maurice reinvented disco in the late 1970s and became a mainstream success. But it was the inclusion of their music in the John Travolta film "Saturday Night Fever" that really put their stamp on pop culture.
The band of brothers composed and performed a majority of the songs on the soundtrack, and up until Whitney Houston's musical collection for "The Bodyguard," it was the best-selling soundtrack of all time. Producer Robert Stigwood had approached the Bee Gees after the film wrapped to see what they could pull together for the soundtrack, and shortly after, "Night Fever," "More Than a Woman," "How Deep Is Your Love," "You Should Be Dancing" and the classic "Stayin' Alive" were born. The latter song, featured in the beginning of the movie, jumped onto Billboard's Top 100 at #1 immediately following its release and stayed there for four weeks. To this day, the record has sold more than 40 million copies and is one of the top five best-selling albums of all time.
Robin Gibb and his brothers went on to star in "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," a musical adventure co-starring '70s icon Peter Frampton that centers on a small-town band that finds success in the music industry. Unfortunately, they also come to discover deceit as their instruments and their hometown of Heartland are put in jeopardy by a wicked force. The movie was loosely based on the off-Broadway production of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on the Road" and featured covers of original Beatles songs from their album of the same name as well as Abbey Road.
Over the years, the Bee Gees' songs have been featured in well over 100 films and soundtracks, including "50/50," "The Fighter," "Despicable Me," "The Book of Eli," "Sex and the City," "Zoolander" and "Good Will Hunting." The hit Fox musical series "Glee" also paid tribute to the band in a recent disco episode titled "Saturday Night Glee-ver," in which the cast covered six of the band's hit songs.
Fellow actor and musician Jordin Sparks told MTV News at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards that she was saddened by Robin Gibb's passing and recalled the time when she discovered the Bee Gees' music.
"Barry Gibb, when I was on '[American] Idol,' he was one of our mentors, and it was so amazing to meet him. I actually discovered my love for Bee Gees music through that week, and 'Too Much Heaven' and 'Emotions' are two of my favorite songs, and 'Stayin' Alive,' of course — classic. But it's so sad. I just can't [believe it]."
Barry Gibb is the last surviving member of the Bee Gees. Brother Maurice Gibb died in 2003 following abdominal surgery.

Daniel Craig experiences trauma and Judi Dench's past comes back to haunt her in the first trailer for the new James Bond film.
By Josh Wigler
Daniel Craig in "Skyfall"
Photo: MGM/Columbia Pictures"Skyfall" might be "done" for James Bond, but it's only just beginning for Agent 007's most devoted fans. The world got its first look at the 23rd Bond flick Monday (May 21) with the release of the first official "Skyfall" teaser trailer, putting Daniel Craig back into the British spy's iconic tuxedo for the first time since 2008's "Quantum of Solace."
Even with this early sneak peek (the film doesn't land in theaters until November 9), the exact who's, what's and why's surrounding "Skyfall" remain shrouded in mystery. The little we do know is hardly elaborated upon in the trailer: Dame Judi Dench's M has dark secrets in her past, secrets that are coming back to haunt her and her fellow agents, and it's up to Bond to put a stop to the madness. Somehow, Javier Bardem is involved to terrorize our hero, reliably silly bad-guy haircut firmly along for the ride, but we don't see Bardem and his bleach-blonde 'do in the teaser, at least not up close and personal.
Still, even a teaser as secretive as this one isn't without its share of decodable mysteries. Keep reading for five key scenes from the "Skyfall" teaser.
"Done"
Bond's interrogation at the outset of the trailer does more than inform the viewer that our favorite super-spy has Agent Provocateur lingerie on the mind. When the game of free-word association arrives at the term "skyfall," Bond tenses up, thinking back on a dark memory that involves him entering a room, gun drawn, with a dead body already slumped in a chair. (It's a split-second scene, viewable around the 29-second mark.) Though the "skyfall" referred to in the title and the interrogation remains a mystery, it's clearly linked to a painful memory that Bond would rather forget ... and given the horrors he's seen in his kill-happy career, the events of the Skyfall mission must be truly traumatic.Killer Guilt
Agent 007 isn't the only one looking back in anger. As has been known for some time, the normally secretive M's history plays a pivotal role in the story of "Skyfall," and we get our first hints of that in two key shots in the new trailer. The most obvious one comes later; M and Bond wordlessly stare off at a bleak, hilly landscape, marking a rare occasion where the two agents are out on the field together. But there's another, easier-to-miss moment involving M at the teaser's 45-second mark. It's M, not Bond, who stands silently in a room filled with caskets, the U.K. flag draped over each and every one. Rumors abound that "Skyfall" will see a tragic end for Dench's M — perhaps her somber appearance in this scene is a taste of the tragedy to come.A Tale of Two Bond Girls
It wouldn't be a Bond movie without a Bond girl, and "Skyfall" has two, both of whom can be briefly glimpsed in the teaser. At the 42-second mark is French actress Bérénice Marlohe, rumored to be a lethal femme fatale with designs on Bond's downfall. She stands ominously in a Chinese hotel room, windows open, curtains flowing in the breeze; it's not too much of a stretch to imagine that she's just finished kicking some ass, is it? Moments later, at the 48-second mark, is our first glimpse of "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Naomie Harris as the second "Skyfall" female lead, whose sexuality is much more overt than her co-star's in the teaser. Harris' character, Eve, is a field agent like Bond, and rumors suggest that she'll adopt the famous codename Moneypenny before the film's conclusion.Dark Shadows
Though the teaser does not reveal him in the full light of day, Javier Bardem's big bad is definitely a presence all the same. A menacing silhouette walks toward the camera just past the minute mark, and his long, flowing hair indicates that this isn't Bond we're looking at; smarter money says this is Bardem's Silva, the vengeful operative hell-bent on destroying M, Bond and all others who stand in his way. Having previously played a vicious villain to Oscar-winning heights, Bardem doesn't need to show us too much to leave us fearful for his coming "Skyfall" appearance.Shoot Everything That Moves
"Some men are coming to kill us. We're going to kill them first." And that's about all we know — and, really, all we need to know — about "Skyfall," as eloquently articulated by Bond at the teaser's conclusion. Those words, juxtaposed against shots of 007 arming himself with a fantastically badass automatic weapon against a neon-blue backdrop, are more than enough to guarantee our butts in seats for "Skyfall" come November 9.Tell us what you think of the first official "Skyfall" teaser trailer in the comments section!

'Dictator' and 'Dark Shadows' also make the top five over the weekend.

Chris Evans as Captain America In "The Avengers"
Photo: Walt Disney StudiosOf all the foes the Avengers have defeated, Universal Pictures may be the first to cry, "You sunk my battleship!"
With another $55.1 million earned during its third week in domestic theaters, "The Avengers" held strong at #1 over the weekend as Earth's Mightiest Heroes fended off competition from three new contenders, including "Battleship." The big-budget action pic, loosely adapted from the vintage game, which featured the catchphrase "You sunk my battleship!" in its once-ubiquitous TV commercials, was a distant second with an estimated $25.3 million debut.
Universal spent a reported $209 million on "Battleship," which opened earlier overseas (where it has already made $226 million). But the domestic debut for the action flick, which mixes seafaring military adventure with an alien invasion, is still a huge disappointment. "Battleship" lists Taylor Kitsch first in the credits among a cast that also includes Rihanna, "True Blood" star Alexander Skarsgård and Liam Neeson. The former "Friday Night Lights" actor top-lined "John Carter" for Disney earlier this year, which famously flopped with a $30.2 million opening weekend against a $250 million budget.
Disney shouldn't be feeling the sting of "John Carter" any longer, of course.
"The Avengers" is the first film distributed by the mouse house since the company bought Marvel, who produced the superhero team-up in association with Paramount Pictures. "The Avengers" has passed "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" to become the studio's biggest movie ever, collecting over $450 million in the U.S. in just 17 days (10 days faster than previous quickest-to-$450-million record-holder "The Dark Knight").
The long-awaited and well-reviewed film uniting the big-screen incarnations of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye became the fourth-highest-grossing movie of all time over the weekend, sitting on the worldwide chart just behind "Avatar," "Titanic" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2." And "Battleship" wasn't the only newcomer to buckle against the continued strength of Marvel's heroes.
"The Dictator" was #3 during its first weekend in theaters with $17.4 million. The latest comedy from Sacha Baron Cohen, best known to American audiences for "Borat," has collected $24.4 million since it opened in the middle of last week. The comedian's "Brüno" opened with $30.6 million in 2009, higher than the original bow of "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan." However, during its entire domestic run in theaters, "Brüno" ultimately grossed less than half of the $129.5 million gathered by "Borat" from November 2006 into 2007.
"What to Expect When You're Expecting," loosely inspired by the book of the same name, settled for fifth place with a $10.5 million debut. The ensemble comedy has been savaged by film critics. "What you don't expect is how bad almost all of it is," wrote the New York Daily News. The Philadelphia Inquirer wasn't much kinder: "It makes one long for the comparative complexity and subtlety of 'Valentine's Day.' "
Sandwiched between "The Dictator" and "What to Expect" at #4 was Johnny Depp's "Dark Shadows," a satirical take on the vampire soap opera of the same name, which teamed Depp once again with filmmaker Tim Burton and Burton's domestic partner, actress Helena Bonham Carter. "Dark Shadows" dropped 57 percent in its second weekend, taking in just $12.8 million for a total of $50.9 million. The last Depp/Burton collaboration, "Alice in Wonderland," is #25 on the all-time box-office-gross list with $334.1 million. The Atlantic summed up "Dark Shadows" like this: "Fans of Depp's past collusions with Burton will find their rewards along the way. But there's a perfunctory vibe to the goings on, a weariness amid the weirdness."
The trio of Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin (as a younger version of Jones' character) are projected to have the best chance yet of defeating Earth's Mightiest Heroes at the box office when "Men in Black 3" arrives in theaters this weekend. The sequel will, of course, be aided by "The Avengers" nearly month-long availability at that point and audience familiarity with the first two blockbuster entries in the series.

'I know if I read too far ahead, I'd start preempting character traits or decisions he makes,' Richard Madden tells MTV News.
By Kara Warner
Richard Madden as Robb Stark in season two of "Game of Thrones"
Photo: Helen Sloan/ HBOThe only negative thing about the fact that we've passed the halfway mark in this second season of "Game of Thrones" is the fact that there are precious few new episodes left until the expectedly epic season finale.
But let's dwell on the positive, shall we? As in this season's action-packed last two episodes and what that means for where we'll find our favorite characters in season three. For those of us who've read the books, we have a pretty good idea of where things are headed, depending on how many more changes the show-runners make to George R.R. Martin's source material. But we're always curious to know how much the actors know about the fate of their characters.
MTV News recently caught up with dashing Scottish actor Richard Madden, who plays Robb Stark, and asked him how much he knows about Robb's story line ahead of time. (His response is spoiler-free, for those who are concerned.)
"I know what happens to him, I know where he goes. It's quite different because obviously in the second book, Robb's not in it," Madden said. "We got green-lit for season two and I got really excited and picked up the book and started reading it, and I was like, 'This is great! My character is going to come in at any minute!' and then kind of halfway through it got to be, 'Yeah, he's gonna come in at some point?' and then I got to the end [of the book] and I was like, 'This sucks. I'm in the TV show but I'm not in it!' Then luckily, David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] have brought in my story line and brought it to life, which is really great because we get so see bits that you didn't get to see in the book. Hopefully when we get to season three, we've really set up these relationships. I'm keen to see how the dynamic between the two women in Robb's life plays out going into season three."
So Madden's familiar with the ins and outs of Martin's second book in the series, "A Clash of Kings," but has he ventured into the even more twisted and action-packed happenings in the third novel, "A Storm of Swords"?
"It's one of the things I try to avoid doing. I only read season by season, I don't read ahead," Madden revealed. "It's one of the great things about the books that I loved is that you are constantly surprised by these characters and the story, and as an actor I want to try and stick to that. I know if I read too far ahead, I'd start preempting character traits or decisions he makes. I'd much rather be an actor and make one decision and stick to it and then have the challenge of turning it around and going in a different direction. I try and keep it like that as much as I can so the audience gets as surprised by the journey as I do when I read the books and when I read each script."
Just to be clear, we asked Madden to clarify exactly what he knows about his character's trajectory in the epic series, since he hinted that he has an idea about Robb's overall arc.
"I know things that happen but I've not read it yet," he said. "Now that season three has been green-lit, I'm excited I get to dive into that book and engulf it."
