  • Arnold Schwarzenegger Goes Grey For 'The Tomb'

At long last, we have an actual look at Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger on the set of "The Tomb" and they look, well, their age.

Entertainment Tonight aired a video report of their "The Tomb" set visit, and in it we see Schwarzenegger and Stallone looking a bit grayer than we've ever seen them before. We like the wizened looks, and it seems like it's in keeping with the movie's plot.

According to "The Tomb's" official plot synopsis, the film follows Stallone as Ray Breslin, "the world's foremost authority on structural security."

"After being framed by persons unknown, all of Breslin's ingenuity and expertise are about to be put to work in the most challenging test he's ever faced: escaping from a high-tech prison facility that's design is based on his own protocols. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Emil Rottmayer, a complex inmate with multiple shades of gray," the synopsis reads.

Multiple shades of gray, indeed. During the interview, the stars addressed why they think it took so long for the both of them to team up on the big screen. Apparently it was all about getting the timing right.

"The funny thing is we have tried, I think, our entire careers to always work together. We have talked about it for three decades and it never happened. I think we tried maybe too hard," Schwarzenegger said. "But now after the governorship, somehow this just fell into place."

According to Stallone, there was a little more to it than that.

"I think in the beginning we were competitive -- there's no question about it. A little alpha territorial. And then we realized it was good for our careers [to work together]," he said.

There's no question that "The Tomb" is going a bit old school in its approach to the action genre, and Stallone said that's intentional. He claims that it's the proliferation of superhero films that is dilluting the classic action genre.

"This genre unfortunately is becoming... let's just say it's fading away," he said. "You have the superheroes today which are possessed with all extraordinary powers; they can blink and a fireball comes out of there. It's great. And then you have a bunch of us which is just your basic male-pattern badness. ... Kind of like hands-on action."

Thanks to Screen Rant for pointing this out.

  • 'Men In Black 3,' 'Moonrise Kingdom' And More: Double Feature Friday!

    MIB Three Burials

This week in theaters, Tommy Lee Jones gets a little help from Josh Brolin, letting him do most of the Tommy Lee Jones-ing in "Men In Black 3," and Wes Anderson unveils his ode to Wes Anderson with "Moonrise Kingdom." If you're looking for wonderful cinematic pairings then look no further than Double Feature Friday!

"Men In Black 3" & "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada"
Tommy Lee Jones doesn't like a lot of things. I doubt he likes making "Men In Black" movies. He probably doesn't like you very much, but he does like making westerns. TLJ even directed his very own western in 2005 with "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada." Very much in the vein of a novel by Jones' favorite writer, Cormac McCarthy, "Three Burials" follows Pete Perkins, a rancher, who must fulfill a promise he made to his former employee Melquiades. When a border patrol agent kills old Mel, Pete kidnaps the agent (played by Barry Pepper) and forces him to come along on his journey to bury his friend in Mexico. The film received some minor praise in 2005 but went largely unseen.

    "Moonrise Kingdom" & "Breathless"
There are few better examples of a Wes Anderson-esque film than the Wes Anderson-directed "Moonrise Kingdom." The Texan auteur's latest film unapologetically wears his signature style on its sleeve, making for probably the clearest example of the look and feel of a Wes Anderson movie. Like many stylists from his era, Anderson's look comes from a hodge-podge of cinematic influences, the most significant of which is probably the French New Wave of the 1960s. If this is a period you're unfamiliar with, the best entry point would be Jean-Luc Godard's "Breathless," the era's best known film. The iconic film features Jean-Paul Belmundo and Jean Seberg as a crook and his lover as they spend a few lazy days together on the run.

    "Chernobyl Diaries" & "Paranormal Activity"
Each and every ad for the "Chernobyl Diaries" boasts "From Producer of 'Paranormal Activity' Oren Peli." It's a credit that has been thrown around often since the filmmaker burst onto the scene with the original demonic found footage film, but "director Oren Peli" is something we do not see anymore. Peli has been working on his "Paranormal" follow-up "Area 51" for what seems like ages with no release date in sight, so in the meantime, go back and watch "Paranormal Activity," if you can with the original ending. It's more tragic than the one suggested by Steven Spielberg and would have stopped the series' current arc dead in its tracks.

What are you watching this weekend? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter!

If one movie is never enough for you and you're looking for a flick to get you in the mood for this week's new release, Double Feature Friday is here to help. Every week we break down the new releases and pair them with older movies that you should catch before heading out to the theater. Or just skip the new movie and check out the classic we recommend.

  • Jon Favreau Returns To 'Iron Man 3' In Today's Twitter-Wood

He's baaaaaaaaaack. No, we're not talking about Mr. Schwarzenegger. We're talking about Jon Favreau, of course. He's making his return to Marvel for "Iron Man 3"! While he won't be directing the three-quel, he's reprising his role as Happy Hogan, Tony Stark's bodyguard and side-kick.

The story line for the third film is currently being kept under wraps, so we're not certain how large his part will be. He appeared in the first film for a cameo with a more fleshed out part in the second movie—perhaps he'll be essential to the third?

Robert Downey Jr., however, did reveal the film has one hell of a script. "'Iron Man 3' is probably the best script I've read in five years, which is so funny," he said. "I mean, things have come so full circle that a genre superhero movie can actually be the most artistic bit of writing I read...To me [it] is an opportunity to go back to the kind of storytelling and character exploration that made the first one good."

Favreau may have something to do with that as he's been heavily involved in the project. In a recent interview he said he has a "tremendous connection" to the "Iron Man" franchise and his character Happy Hogan. He holds no animosity against Marvel taking on director Shane Black for the next flick. In fact, he praises Black's vision.

"It's a really smart way to go," he said. "After 'Avengers,' you want to start with something really bold and inspired, and if you've ever seen 'Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang,' you've seen that when Downey and Shane get together, interesting and unexpected things happen."

What do you think of Favreau's return? Do you wish he was still directing? Let us know in the comments and on Twitter!

  • Tim Burton Selects Shannon Brooks As 'Abraham Lincoln' Art Contest Winner

    Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

Few movies have us more intrigued than "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter." With a title like that, you know exactly what you're going to get: the sixteenth president of the United States going stake to fang against a pack of blood-suckers. Doesn't get more awesome than that.

Ahead of the film, Fox launched an official "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" Art Contest some weeks ago, with producer Tim Burton personally selecting the winner of the competition… and that winner has been selected: Shannon Brooks, the creator of the fantastic tribute to Honest Abe you see above you.

See Burton's selection and find out more about Shannon in the Q&A past the jump!

What is your background as an artist?
I've been drawing for ever since I can remember. I ended up taking a graphics class when I was in high school and that's what got me into the graphics and from there I started doing paintings also.

Do any other artists inspire your work?
Tim Burton has been my idol and inspiration behind my work for years now. He's the only one that has ever inspired any of my work.

What inspired you to enter the Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter art contest?
I saw that Tim Burton would be picking the winner out of the top 5. Once I read that I had to do something, I really wanted him to see a piece of my work.

Why have you chosen to support the Patriot – or Vampire – cause?
I chose Patriot because that was the first idea that popped into my head. I instantly got an idea for it then I got to work making it.

What ideas ran through your head while you created this artwork?
I kept thinking the same thing over and over. Make it look awesome, something tons of people will like, something Tim Burton would choose to be the winner. But at the same time make it something that I'd be proud of.

How does art affect people, in thought or action?
Art has a different effect on every person. Some art forms (no matter what form it may be in) often can act as an inspiration for other people to become creative in their own ways. To some people it can be an escape from everything. There's no limit to the inspiration or affect because there's no limit to art. It's all around us in every single form. This world would be a boring place if art didn't exist. What other way would people be able to express themselves?

If you win the Grand Prize, whom will you invite to your private midnight screening of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter?
I would invite my family and friends. Those are the people who have stood behind me and supported me through all of this.

Tell us what you think of the winner in the comments section or hit us up on Twitter!

  • Five Reasons To See 'Men In Black 3'

The "Men in Black" are back with the third installment of their popular franchise. The movie centers on our favorite men in black, Agent K and Agent J, as they trail a one-armed alien named Boris the Animal who escapes from his confined prison on the moon. K shot his arm off back in the sixties and Boris wants his revenge. He travels back in time to 1969 and kills K so that his arm is restored and the world is left unprotected from alien invasion. J must follow Boris to the past to save K's life and discover the secrets of the universe.

While critics suggest the franchise didn't need a third film, the three-quel is on par with the first "MIB" movie that sparked audiences' attention. It keeps its viewers entertained and will delight fans who loved the first flick. Here are our five reasons to see it this weekend.

    Will Smith's Humor
Agent J is back and he's as funny as ever. He continually banters back and forth with the present Agent K, skeptically questioning all of K's moves as they bicker on how to handle situations. He's the same smooth-talking character that engaged audiences in the first film. From his explanations after erasing bystanders' memories on the scene of a crime to stealing a car and trying to convince two racist cops that it's not because of his skin color, he keeps the audience laughing throughout the film.

    Josh Brolin's Performance
"The Goonies" actor completely nails the role of Agent K. His accent, mannerisms, facial expressions, body language—everything reminds us of Tommy Lee Jones. Smith even told MTV News that Brolin's performance completely shocked him. "It is really amazing what he's able to do. And it's crazy—it's so amazing that he's not gonna get credit for it because he just seems like young Tommy Lee Jones." And Smith is right. Brolin is able to trick us into thinking Agent J really did go back in time and we're not seeing a different actor on screen, but Jones in his younger years. When one actor can completely embody another, that's a performance worth noting.

    The Aliens
All three "MIB" films star extraterrestrials that were born in the mind of Rick Baker, legendary monster make-up artist. He introduces us to a whole new set of awesome looking aliens in the third movie that make audiences squirm and laugh. The most notable creature causing the former reaction is Boris the Animal. His teeth are jagged and gross (go to the dentist kids!), and the skin around his eyes opens to show what almost looks like fingers holding his goggles in place. His feet and hands have the same function (all the better to hold you with, my dear?), but his hands also have an added bonus. There's a creepy spider-like creature that shoots pointy nail-like structures into its victims, and would like to know where that lives? Inside Boris' palm! We cringed—a lot.

    The Nostalgia
It's been 15 years since we were introduced to the secret organization protecting earth from alien life. We can remember why the word "sugar" can still make us laugh and why Jones and Smith are the perfect duo. As the film goes back in time, it's littered with scenes that recall our memory of K and J in the early stages of becoming partners. The most notable scene is when the younger K refuses to give J the gun he time jumped with, handing him a pistol instead. We are instantly reminded of J's initial reaction in the first film when K handed him the tiny firearm with big power that threw him across the room with one blast. It's scenes like that that make this three-quel worth checking out.

    An Unexpected Ending
Without giving too much away we can say the ending holds an unexpected twist that ties all three films in the franchise together. It's shocking and sweet and our eyes might have filled with tears at one point (but if you tell anyone that we'll deny it).

Are you heading out to see "Men in Black 3" this holiday weekend? Tell us why in the comments and on Twitter!

  • Ryan Gosling's 'Only God Forgives' Debuts Footage At Cannes

    Gosling Only God Forgives

Though "Only God Forgives," Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling's follow-up to last year's head-explodingly-awesome first collaboration "Drive," was among some of the more painful omissions from this year's Cannes film festival, a short clip debuted during a mysterious screening at the fest.

Quint over at Ain't It Cool was among the lucky few who were able to catch a glimpse at the upcoming film, which follows Gosling as the son of a crime boss who must face off against a legendary cop after his brother gets into trouble.

The footage screened provided little context for the larger story overall, but, according to Quint, shared some stylistic qualities with "Drive," one being some intense violence.

The scene starts off in what is presumably a nightclub somewhere in Thailand, most likely Bangkok. Gosling sits in a room across from two men, who are drinking and watching a sad female performer. This being a Refn-Gosling film, the actor then gets up and smashes a glass into one of the guys' face. He then proceeds to beat both men, eventually dragging one of them down a hallway by the mouth.

Needless to say, it seems that Gosling and Refn have come back together to make a film in the vein of "Drive." The description of the footage alone has us eager to see what the duo have put together this time, and that's ignoring the wonderfully brutal picture of Gosling all bruised up that leaked a few months ago.

The more and more we hear about "Only God Forgives," the more we get the impression that the dynamic duo may be upping the brutality. (Let's not forget that Refn blew up Christina Hendrick's head and Gosling smashed a different one with his boot last time.)

There's still no word on when we may see "Only God Forgives," so we'll have to wait patiently for now with retro synth music playing in the background.

  • Five Reasons You Need To See Wes Anderson's 'Moonrise Kingdom'

    by Adam Murphy

When it comes to Wes Anderson, moviegoers fall neatly into two piles: those who love him, and those who've never heard of him. What's that? His twee sensibilities are just a little too indie-quirky-cute for you? Well, "Moonrise Kingdom" may surprise even the most jaded viewers. Sure, it's packed with Anderson's trademark strand of oddball whimsy, but for the haters out there, you will find a well-acted and tightly written 90 minute movie with enough heart to melt the iceberg that resides in your frigid chest cavity.

For those of you who aren't already picking up your Rushmore blazer from the dry cleaner to wear to the very first screening, here are five reasons to see "Moonrise Kingdom."

    Children with Wilderness Training
Granted, "Moonrise Kingdom" is set in the 1960s, but aren't you sick and tired of these anemic wimps with their "attachment parenting" and their "peanut allergies"? Heck, I sure am. In "Moonrise," you'll find kids at their best: orienteering (sans iPhone), starting fires, and running through the wilderness wielding homemade weapons. Millennials, take note: kids used to earn merit badges not just for showing up, but for using every part of the wild boar he killed with the trap he made from a bunch of sticks and thistles.

Newcomers Kara Hayward and Jared Gilman
After months of looking at postage stamp-sized Quicktime movies of potential candidates, Anderson cast the young leads of "Moonrise Kingdom" perfectly. Gilman's dark hair, glasses, and overall fastidiousness remind us of a young Max Fisher, and Hayward has the style and demeanor of a miniature Margot Tenenbaum. These charmingly deviant youths carry the film effortlessly.

    Elite Scouts (or, "the Scouteratti")
There's something distinctly Andersonian about a (grown) man in (a child's) uniform. Edward Norton's Scout Master Ward is a leader of men; or, more accurately, a leader of boys. He is highly trained and prepared for anything that could possibly happen in the woods. Whether these skills translate to real life remains to be seen, but in an Anderson movie, why would you be concerned with actual reality?

    The Soundtrack
This is another pitch-perfect soundtrack for Anderson. The only popular tracks you're likely to recognize are a few Hank Williams tunes that provide Bruce Willis' Captain Sharp with an atmosphere appropriate for steeping in his own lonesomeness. The real treats here are the excerpts from "The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra," instructional 45s that break down for children the basics of classical music.

The Holy Matrimony of Bill Murray and Frances McDormand
Their relationship is embattled to say the least, but it's nice to finally see these two under the same roof. That's all.

  • 'Take This Waltz' Exclusive Clip: Seth Rogen Babies Michelle Williams

Romance movies rarely offer a look behind closed doors. They'll show the couple on a pond ice skating in the winter or walking along the beach engaged in a conversation to define their relationship. But in this exclusive "Take This Waltz" clip, Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen mirror a married couple's everyday tasks as they have a small bout, following a scene of intimacy.

Williams plays Margot, a 28 year old freelance writer happily married to her husband Lou (Rogen). Their interaction in this clip sets up their visible love for each other. He looks affectionately at her saying, "I'm glad you're here." She treads over and wraps her arms around him as he's cooking breakfast. They end up in a giggly, playful embrace on the floor before things start to go south.

Their flirtatious banter comes to a halt when Margot asks him not to kiss her and call her baby at the same time. Frustrated, Lou gets up and continues making breakfast as Margot sips her coffee apologizing. And there lies the crack in her life that Daniel (Luke Kirby) may be able to fill.

When Margot meets her neighbor Daniel, an artist and rickshaw driver, she quickly begins falling for him. Soon she gives into her desire to be close to him and starts exploring this new relationship—despite her reservations telling her to stay away.

"Take This Waltz" hits theaters on June 29.

  • MTV News Heads To Cannes: Kanye West's 'Cruel Summer'

KanyeFROM MTV NEWS: Those of you who thought 3-D was an experience, you ain't seen nothin' yet! When Kanye West's experimental film "Cruel Summer" debuted at Cannes this week, it wasn't just a premiere, it was an event.

MTV News was on hand to witness the short film displayed on seven separate screens, alternating between different camera angles of one shot and a single wide screen display.

"I was very particular about having the screens separate, where your mind puts the screens back together, the way you put memories together," the rapper said. "I'm not the best director in the world, but I had an idea that I thought would be amazing to inspire people, like a dream of one day this being the way people watch movies."

The 30-minute film follows a high-end car thief, played by Kid Cudi, who falls for a blind Arabian princess, but isn't allowed to marry her until he helps her see (figuratively, of course).

Check out our full coverage of "Cruel Summer" over at MTV News, and read what Cudi tells us about watching himself on-screen.
