  • Andy Samberg Gives Russell Brand Movie Award Hosting Advice

Hosting the MTV Movie Awards is not an easy job. You have to entertain an audience of the hottest celebrities and their biggest fans, while introducing A-list actors like Christian Bale to present exclusive footage from highly-anticipated films like "The Dark Knight Rises." No pressure. This year comedy king Russell Brand was up for the task.

When Movie Awards hosting veteran Andy Samberg met up with us at Universal's CityWalk to talk "That's My Boy" for Sneak Peek Week, we asked him if he had any advice for Brand.

"It's gonna be a real stretch from the VMA's," Samberg joked, referencing Brand's previous hosting gig. "What's he gonna do? I just wonder in the beginning if he's gonna have some short film about how he needs to make it to the Movie Awards on time before it starts. Is he gonna make it? He's in this film, how's he gonna get there? Every host seems to have this problem."

The "SNL" actor is no stranger to live television so there was little pressure for him as he took to the big stage to introduce presenters and crack jokes when he hosted. In fact, Samberg only had to mention the title of a certain vampire saga to get a great crowd reaction.

"My year was like the first year of 'Twilight' so you couldn't hear anything," he recalled. "It was just a den of screaming girls. At one point I think I walked out, and I had a bet with somebody backstage, and I just walked out and went, 'Twilight.' And everybody went, 'Ahhhhhh!' I'm like, 'I just made five bucks.'"

With "Twilight" reigning at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, the show was a huge success. What will Brand need for his year to be as good?

"I mean, so many ingredients in a Movie Awards stew—celebs, spoofs," Samberg said.

    "Great performances!" Ciara chimed in.

"Great performances—I just thought of that," Samberg joked. On a more serious note, he said: "[It needs] a great host. Russell's gonna kill it. Russell's hilarious."

  • 'Bourne Legacy' Trailer Brings Back Matt Damon

    Bourne

Based on all the marketing for "The Bourne Legacy" promising "there was never just one," we assumed that Jason Bourne was going to be forgotten about by the time Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross stepped into center stage. But from what we've seen in the new full-length trailer for the movie, Bourne actually still has a large part to play.

Matt Damon might not have a cameo in "The Bourne Legacy," but we will at least see his face. It seems as though "The Bourne Legacy" is happening at the same time as Damon's previous three "Bourne" movies, and that it's his actions that will influence Cross's decision making. Except while Bourne was the only agent we saw in those films, it seems as though we'll be meeting an array of them in "The Bourne Legacy."

Judging by the trailer, one of them is apparently Oscar Isaac. Cross seemingly turns to his character to find out more about the Outcome program they're involved in, but Isaac doesn't seem like he wants to share much information with the other agent.

We also get a heck of a lot more Rachel Weisz this time around. It looks like she will play a doctor involved in the Outcome program who ends up being Cross's love interest. According to her, whatever experiments they did on him caused two of his chromosomes to mutate, which explains why he is so powerful. It sounds like Isaac was right to caution us to "not screw with him."

"The Bourne Legacy" also stars Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn. It's due in theaters on August 3.

  • Charlize Theron Is 'Super Intimidating,' Says Kristen Stewart

Charlize Theron is a force of nature. The actress screamed so much on the set of "Snow White and the Huntsman" she tore a stomach muscle. We kid you not. During MTV's second annual Sneak Peek Week, Theron's co-stars Kristen Stewart and Sam Claflin stopped by to bring us an exclusive look at their film and we had to ask what it was like working with such a powerful actress.

"I didn't cross paths with her too much in the film," Claflin said. "However, pretty much everytime that she walked on set she kind of had this presence—the Charlize Theron, I call it now. She's a very strong-willed, independent woman."

Stewart agreed, saying Theron was "super intimidating." "We have such completely opposite energies," she revealed. "I mean, I cannot begin to describe to you. I was very curious initially how that was going to go."

As it turns out, it went really well. Both thespians get along great, Theron told MTV News at the film's England press junket earlier in the month. She credited their great dynamic to the age old phrase "opposites attract." Stewart agrees.

"It's so much fun to find people that you can like really have that push and pull with, especially on a set," she said. "And that's what we needed. I think the most surprising thing is when we started actually working, it was so instantly like, 'You! You totally do this. I do this. We should do this together.' "

Suffice to say, the actresses have serious chemistry—maybe a little more chemistry than they admit. While Theron couldn't make it to Sneak Peek Week, she sent her own question via video: "I want to know if Sam and Kristen realized that when they kiss in the movie that really, Kristen, you're making out with me. Did you guys realize that? And I just wanted to know if Sam lived up to the expectation of how good of a make out I am. And I [also] want to know if you ever want to have the opportunity to see how I really do it."

Sounds like she's making you an offer, KStew.

  • Vanilla Ice 'Enjoyed The Hell Out Of' Playing Himself In 'That's My Boy'

Vanilla Ice had the pleasure of playing a version of Vanilla Ice in the upcoming Adam Sandler comedy, "That's My Boy." In the film he plays Sandler's childhood buddy, affectionately known to Sandler's son Han Solo Berger (played by Andy Samberg) as Uncle Vanny, who tears up the town with Sandy's now grown, big-screen slacker.

When Uncle Vanny sat down with MTV News for Sneak Peek Week on Wednesday night, ahead of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday (June 3), he said he had a blast bringing to life this heightened Vanilla Ice persona.

"Well I had a weekend that lasted a few years and I got to remember now because half my memory is gone. No, I'm kidding. But I enjoyed the hell out of it, man," he explained. "I got to drive an old 5.0 Mustang, it brought back great memories, just like the Ninja Turtles. I was all on it. I even caught myself doing 'Ice, Ice, Baby' for a minute. I was going back. I sloped down in the seat... And I look over and there's Sandler and I'm like 'What do I do, boss?' "

Now that he's starred in this movie, we really wanted to know if he has now caught the acting bug? But, given his answer, we're still not really sure. "I get in where I fit in. We are who we are because of who we were and this is who I am today," he said. "So, wherever tomorrow is that's where I'll be. Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery."

  • 'Maleficent' Gains Aussie Brenton Thwaites As Prince Charming

    Brenton Thwaites

It seems as though Sleeping Beauty has finally found her Prince Charming. New reports peg Aussie Brenton Thwaites as the prince who will break Maleficent's spell on the young princess in Disney's upcoming recreation of the classic "Sleeping Beauty" fairytale, "Maleficent."

Deadline has the news, saying that Thwaites is set in the role. He's largely unknown to American audiences, though he'll be making his breakout role on US television sets in the upcoming Lifetime Channel movie "Blue Lagoon: The Awakening."

Thwaites is joining an already star-studded cast. His love interest Aurora (aka Sleeping Beauty) will be played by Elle Fanning, while Angelina Jolie is still set to play the titular queen who will seek to drive them apart. Juno Temple, Imelda Saunton and Lesley Manville will play the three pixie fairies who take care of Aurora while she is banished from the castle and living in a cabin in the woods.

In a recent interview, Jolie defended "Maleficent" being told from the evil queen's perspective by saying it's "not anti-princess."

"It's the first time they're looking at this epic woman... I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn't mean she can't have other [warmer] qualities," she said.
"It sounds really crazy to say that there will be something that's good for young girls in this, because it sounds like you're saying they should be a villain. [Maleficent] is actually a great person. But she's not perfect. She's far from perfect."

"Maleficent" is due in on theaters March 14, 2014. It's set to start filming this June in London.

  • Exclusive 'That's My Boy' Clip Showcases Naughty Teacher

In a teacher/student relationship, there's a line you're always told not to cross. Movies, however, can not only cross those lines, but hurdle over them. Such is the case with Adam Sandler's "That's My Boy."

The film centers on Donny (Sandler), who knocked up his teacher (Eva Amurri) when he was just a teenager and raised his son Han Solo Berger (Andy Samberg) as a single parent until Han's 18th birthday. After a financial mishap, Donny reemerges in Han's life right before his wedding and must face the consequences of his appalling parenting skills.

During MTV's second annual Sneak Peek Week leading up to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, Samberg and his co-stars hit Universal's CityWalk to premiere an exclusive clip from the film. The never-before-seen footage takes you back to Donny's school days and reveals that the whole affair started with his teacher.

If you enjoyed the clip, don't miss the rest of our Sneak Peek Week action with stars from "Magic Mike" and "Rock of Ages," all leading up to the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards live this Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET.

  • Sylvester Stallone Joining Robert De Niro For Boxing Comedy?

If you've ever dreamed of a day when Rocky would face off against Jake La Motta, your wish may be coming true. A new report is saying that Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro are in talks to star in "Grudge Match," a boxing comedy being set up at Warner Bros.

The Wrap has the news, saying that the movie is about two retired boxers who plan one last match against one another. Stallone is famous for writing and starring in the movie "Rocky," while De Niro also portrayed a boxer in Martin Scorsese's classic, "Raging Bull."

There's no official confirmation on the casting yet, and the movie isn't even officially greenlit, but this seems like it would be a match made in heaven if it did happen.

"Tommy Boy" and "Anger Management" helmer Peter Segal is set to direct the film, while "Entourage" creator Doug Ellin is working on the latest draft of the script. Those two seem to be a strong backbone for this movie, though we will admit that we weren't too enamored with the tone of Segal's latest, "Get Smart."

It's nice to know that Stallone and De Niro are not taking themselves too seriously, though. Stallone seems to be on a stint teaming up with old rivals, currently working alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in "The Tomb" and everyone from Bruce Willis to Chuck Norris in "The Expendables 2." De Niro is similarly taking things with a grain of salt, as evidenced by his hilarious performances in "Stardust" and "Machete."
