  • 'Magic Mike' Cast Had No Problem Getting Naked

'It was hilarious that none of them really balked,' Channing Tatum tells MTV News during Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week.

Struggling actors are no strangers to the odd job — be it waiting tables, walking dogs or washing cars. Few, however, would admit to taking their clothes off for cash, and even fewer would later document their sordid side gig in a feature film helmed by an Oscar-winning director. But few actors are Channing Tatum.

As part of our Sneak Peek Week leading up to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, Tatum, along with "Magic Mike" co-star Matthew McConaughey and producer/screenwriter Reid Carolin, took to the Universal CityWalk stage in L.A. to debut an exclusive clip and chat about their stripper flick, out June 29. And while Tatum doesn't shy away from talking about his past, it took a little convincing from director Steven Soderbergh to convince the actor his story was big-screen-worthy.

"I was having a beer with Soderbergh — we were doing a movie together — and I told him about [my past stripping]. I'd been doing it for eight months of my life when I was, like, 18 or 19, and he said, 'We gotta make a movie out of that.' And I was like, 'Why? Why do we need to do that?' And he said, 'I've never seen that world on film before.' And then we really started talking about that, and we thought it would be really hilarious but still grounded in reality."

So the two set out to bring "Magic Mike" to life — without studio funding.

"We put money into it and did it ourselves," Tatum explained. "I don't know if people realize it, but it was an independent movie."

An independent movie, albeit with an impressive cast including Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer and Matthew McConaughey, who said he simply couldn't turn down an offer from Soderbergh to play groovy club owner Dallas.

"He pitched me the story, and 10 minutes into it, I was on my knees in my house laughing," McConaughey recalled. "And I said, 'Tell me, any words of advice?' And he said, 'This guy, Dallas, he's connected to the UFOs in space.' And then I said, 'Anything else?' And he said, 'You really can't go wrong.' And I said, 'I'm in.' "

And that's when the real work began. Tatum took McConaughey to a male revue in New Orleans so he could get a glimpse into that world. "He loved it," Tatum recalled with a grin.

In fact, according to Tatum, none of the men seemed too worried about dropping trou. "The first day of rehearsals, I looked at the guys and we went through our stuff, and I was like, 'All right. It's time to get naked, boys.' And it was hilarious that none of them really balked."

And neither did the female extras on set, who couldn't seem to calm their excitement during McConaughey's solo performance, in particular. "We could not get the women to sit down in the front row," recalled Tatum with a laugh. "They just ran at the stage."

  • Exclusive: Channing Tatum Takes It Off In 'Magic Mike' Clip

Steamy teaser debuted Thursday night during Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week.
    By Jocelyn Vena

Channing Tatum, along with co-stars Matt Bomer and Alex Pettyfer, get their groove on to "It's Raining Men" in a brand-new, exclusive clip from "Magic Mike," which we premiered Thursday night (May 31) as part of Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week.

Tatum not only debuted the teaser, he also sat down with MTV News' own Josh Horowitz and dished on playing the title character. The Steven Soderbergh-directed flick opens June 29 and goes inside the world of hard-bodied male strippers.

In the clip, the guys are decked out in raincoats as they dance with umbrellas. The fellas shake, shimmy and, of course, strip — actually they tear off their clothes — to the iconic disco tune. But the highlight of the scene is probably when Tatum gets his dirty dancing on and humps the stage while the club's female patrons swoon and scream.

But that's not it for Sneak Peek Week: On Friday night, Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta will join us for a chat about the big-screen adaptation of "Rock of Ages," which also stars Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige, Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones and more. Check back in at 11 p.m. ET Friday for our live Q&A with the actors. Fans can get in on the action on Twitter using the hashtag #MTVSneak.

And the fun doesn't end there. The 2012 MTV Movie Awards go down this Sunday, with Russell Brand hosting and feature performances by Fun., the Black Keys, Martin Solveig and Wiz Khalifa. It all goes down from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California at 9 p.m. ET.

  • Russell Brand Plans Some Movie Awards Lady-Killing

Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart are definitely on our newly single host's radar for Sunday's show.
By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

    Russell Brand
    Photo: MTV News

When it was announced that all-around funnyman Russell Brand was hand-selected to host the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, no one was more excited about the news than Brand himself — particularly when we presented him with a list of the lovely leading ladies who would also be present at Sunday's show.

When we let him know that Kristen Stewart, Emma Stone, Mila Kunis and Charlize Theron would all be on hand, there was a lot of whistling on his part.

"I don't watch things like ['Twilight']," Brand said when Stewart was mentioned, but he did offer up a nice whistle. "I don't know, I don't know why I would watch it. But for the people, I like the good-looking boys. Robert Pattinson and him with the tummy," he said, speaking of Taylor Lautner's storied abs. "I met him. He was really handsome."

Brand's tales of celebrity run-ins did not end there: It turns out the "Rock of Ages" star had a very memorable encounter with Stewart's "Snow White and the Huntsman" co-star, Charlize Theron.

"Oh my God. She's amazing, isn't she? [I met her], and it was embarrassing," Brand revealed. "I messed it up bad. I met her and didn't recognize her. I was at a party, and I was looking at birds. She came over and [said] something untoward. And I showed off like an idiot, not recognizing her."

Once Brand realized his mistake, he was distraught.

"I thought, 'Oh no! I didn't use any of my moves!' " he recalled, before adding that Sunday's awards show might present him with the perfect opportunity to reintroduce himself. "It's a new day, it's a new dawn, it's a new life," he said, wondering, "Is she single?"

  • Justin Bieber Laughs Off Paris Concussion

'I will see u again Glass,' Bieber tweets after hitting his head on a glass wall during a secret show.
    By Jocelyn Vena

When Justin Bieber was in Paris on Thursday (May 31) to perform a secret show for his fans in the lead-up to the release of his Believe album, he got a surprise of his own when he walked into a glass wall, injuring himself mid-set.

According to an interview with TMZ, he bumped into the wall but was able to finish out the performance.

"I was performing, and I was going offstage and, basically, I'm in Paris and performing on the tallest building in Paris, and there's a glass wall behind me, but there's a railing behind the glass. And so I went to reach for the railing and I hit my head on the glass," he explained. "And I guess me and glass windows don't really go together."

He is referring to a viral video of himself going through a glass revolving door where he hit his head from back in 2010. However, this incident was a bit more serious and he added that he "felt lightheaded," but "my adrenaline pushed me through it and I performed the last song."

After he walked off the stage, he passed out for 15 seconds and later learned he suffered a concussion. "I feel good. I feel good," he assured his fans. "I have a little bit of a headache, but I feel fine."

On top of clearing the air with TMZ about the incident, he was able to laugh it off on Twitter: "Thanks for the love but there are alot of people out there who need prayers. im fine. just smacked my head and needed some water. all good. im Canadian. we are tough. lol. its all good. just gotta take it easy the rest of the night. back at it again for u guys tomorrow. Thanks.

"The fact you all knew what happened before my mom even did is impressive. lol. I have amazing fans. very grateful for your love," he continued. "Gonna eat, rest, get some sleep and tomorrow Im back at it. The show must go on! Love yall. We got this."

Bieber had this message for the glass wall. "I will see u again Glass. I will have my revenge. BIEBER vs GLASS. MGM LAS VEGAS 2013. lol. #GottaLaughAtYourself," he joked.

While chatting with TMZ, Bieber also commented on the pandemonium he stirred up when he performed a secret show in Oslo, Norway, earlier this week, during which several young fans were injured.

"Oh my goodness that was crazy. The fans were insane. I even had to go to this secret location or else they were going to cancel my show, it was crazy," he said. "Norway's been waiting for me to come, and I've never been to Norway. It was nuts."

Despite several minor setbacks on his secret-show tour, Bieber plans to continue his final 10 around the world in the lead-up to the June 19 album release.

When MTV News caught up with Bieber before Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, he threw all his support behind multi-nominee "Bridesmaids." "I just think it was funny. It's kind of like the female version of 'The Hangover,' " he said.

  • Vanilla Ice Hints At 'Ninja Turtles' Involvement

'I'd be all over that,' the rapper told MTV News about the upcoming 'Turtles' reboot.
By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Jim Cantiello

    Photo: MTV News

There's a lot happening within the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" universe that's rubbed fans the wrong way. Chief among their grievances is a change to the Turtles' origin: These heroes in a half-shell are no longer simply the mutated product of an ooze spill on some unwitting turtles — they're now creatures from a different planet.

But there's at least one carryover from the original film trilogy that should put a smile on fans' faces: Vanilla Ice is back, back, baby ... maybe.

MTV News caught up with the rapper during his Sneak Peek Week appearance for "That's My Boy" ahead of Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards, and he teased that he may very well be involved with the Michael Bay-produced "Ninja Turtles" reboot.

"I can't say anything," Ice grinned when asked if he would be involved with the return of the Turtles. "I know that they're not from the sewers now. They're aliens now or something."

Ice, who famously performed "Ninja Rap" in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze," is a committed fan of Splinter's reptilian warriors. Like, seriously committed, to the extent that he's tattooed their likeness to his own shin.

"I don't mess around," he said of his "TMNT" pride. "I'm still a Ninja Turtles fan."

And to that end, Ice said he's very much interested in continuing his relationship with the fan-favorite franchise. Whether or not he's actually involved with Bay's planned reboot remains a mystery for now, but the rapper is wide open to the possibility at the very least.

"Absolutely," he said when asked if he'd want to join in on the new-age "Turtles" fun. "I'd get a tattoo of it. I'd be all over that. Aliens, sewers, whatever: They're still Ninja Turtles, and I'm a ninja, so I get in where I fit in."

  • Robert Pattinson's Next Movie: A Modern-Day 'Bonnie And Clyde'?

'Twilight' producer says Pattinson would be 'fantastic' in the big-screen adaptation of 'The Professionals.'
    By Kara Warner

When it comes to knowing the comings and goings of Robert Pattinson, we'd like to consider ourselves experts, or very much in the know with regard to what movies we can expect to see the "Twilight" superstar make next.

We know about his roles in "Bel Ami," "Cosmopolis" and, of course, "Breaking Dawn - Part 2", but what do you think of Pattinson tackling a modern-day thriller à la "Bonnie and Clyde"?

When MTV News caught up with "Twilight" producer Wyck Godfrey recently to discuss Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's chances of another Best Kiss win at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday (June 3), he revealed that he and Pattinson might be cooking up some post-"Breaking Dawn - Part 2" work plans, in the form of a big-screen adaptation of a crime thriller.

"There's a book called "The Professionals," which is a new crime thriller that Rob has read and really likes," Godfrey said of Owen Laukkanen's well-received debut novel. "We're just starting to look at a writer [to adapt it]. It's kind of a 'Bonnie and Clyde' for today, and he would be fantastic in the role. It's in the early days; we'll see."

A modern-day version of "Bonnie and Clyde" sounds gritty and violent no matter which way you look at it. We asked Godfrey if he sees this potential big-screen crime thriller as a PG-13- or R-rated film for Pattinson.

"Possibly R," he said. "[Rob's] an adult now."

  • Vanilla Ice Vs. Will Forte: Watch 'That's My Boy' Rap Battle!

'That's My Boy' stars bust into spontaneous rhymes during MTV Sneak Peek Week interview.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting Josh Horowitz

    Photo: Brian Dowling/Picture Group/MTV

Will Forte and Vanilla Ice both displayed their smooth rap skills when they sat down with MTV News during MTV Sneak Peek Week. The "That's My Boy" co-stars decided to use the interview as a place to spit some rhymes. Why? Well, it was a more creative way to answer the questions they were asked about their respective parts in the flick.

In the film, Ice plays an exaggerated version of his real-life persona. When asked about his return to the big screen, he decided not to respond with a spoken answer but rather with a rhyme specially designed for the occasion.

He spit, "Been a long time since you seen me on the TV/ V Ice here for sheezy/ Taking what's mine 'cause it's my time/ To hit you all with a new style of rhyme."

So, when it came time for Will Forte to talk about going nude for the flick, he took a page out of Vanilla Ice's book and rapped his answer.

"My name is Will Forte and I know how to move/ My name's Will Forte and I know how to groove/ I know how to move, I know how to groove/ It looks like this homeboy is batting two for two," he rhymed.

The lively conversation took place just days before the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, which go down on Sunday. The show will be hosted by Russell Brand and feature performances by Fun., the Black Keys, Martin Solveig and Wiz Khalifa.

  • The Bridesmaids Vs. Ryan Gosling: Who Wrenched Your Guts?

Five cringe-worthy scenes vie for the Best Gut-Wrenching Performance at the MTV Movie Awards. Vote for your pick on MTV.com!
    By Kara Warner

    Ryan Gosling in "Drive"
    Photo: FilmDistrict

Of all the unique and outlandish categories that the MTV Movie Awards have been known for each year, 2012's new addition, Best Gut-Wrenching Performance, might be the most unique, outlandish and downright cringe-worthy of all.

So what is a gut-wrenching moment? For our purposes, it is that one unforgettable scene in a recent movie that was so outrageous, disturbing or just plain gross that you had a physical reaction whilst watching it. A literal wrenching of your guts.

No matter your reaction to this year's very diverse nominees, be it the poo pies, head stomping or group food poisoning, we can almost guarantee the nominated moments in this new category left an impression on you. Here's a closer look at those five gut-wrenching movie moments:

    Bryce Dallas-Howard, "The Help"
For those who've seen "The Help," there's not much to say about this other than revenge is best served cold, in the form of a poo-laced pie. In the scene, Dallas-Howard — a double nominee this year — who plays the cringe-worthy and hateful villain Hilly Holbrook, scarfs down what looks to be a delicious chocolate pie. Hilly and the audience soon find out that the pie has an extra "special" ingredient: poop.

Jonah Hill and Rob Riggle, "21 Jump Street"
Moving on to our next nominee, from poop to a detached penis. (Did we mention these moments are gut-wrenching?) In the final few minutes of one of the year's funniest comedies, "21 Jump Street," Jonah Hill accidentally shoots off Rob Riggle's penis, after which the handcuffed and injured party is forced to retrieve his dismembered man parts with his mouth. Bonus fact about this scene: Riggle improvised the mouth pick-up.

Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper, "Bridesmaids"
While there are multiple memorable scenes in "Bridesmaids," one of them stands out as the messiest. While shopping at a swanky boutique for their dresses, the bride and her five bridesmaids are simultaneously hit with a tidal wave of food poisoning that causes them to lose their lunch in every conceivable way.

    Ryan Gosling, "Drive"
While Ryan Gosling made many women swoon with his wooing of Emma Stone in "Crazy, Stupid, Love," his turn as the cold, calculated and deadly driver in "Drive" had the opposite effect. Gosling's most gut-wrenching scene is a furious display of skull stomping never before seen on film. Talk about cringe-worthy, that elevator stomp is off the charts.

Tom Cruise, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol"
This last nominated moment is the least gross of the bunch and also the most impressive given the physical feat achieved to produce it. In "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," Tom Cruise's super spy Ethan Hunt scales the planet's tallest building, Dubai's Burj Khalifa, in a race against a nuclear clock. Cruise actually performed the stunt, which required him to dangle a mere 2,700 feet from the ground.

    • T.I.'s Trouble Man Will Be 'More Aggressive Than Paper Trail'

'All of my albums are basically a reflection of where I am in my life at that moment,' Tip tells 'RapFix Live.'
By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway

      Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV News

Heavy is the head that wears the crown, but don't fret: The King of the South has it all figured out. Throughout his career, T.I. has delivered various types of records, catering to different audiences, and though he has continually messaged that his next album, Trouble Man, will be a return to his aggressive style of rap, Tip has a little something for everyone.

"All of my albums are basically a reflection of where I am in my life at that moment in time," T.I. told MTV News' Sway Calloway when he appeared on "RapFix Live." "So the biggest difference in the man that I am today and the man that I was then, I guess musically, it's gonna be more aggressive than Paper Trail.

Back in 2008 when Tip dropped Paper Trail, the album that housed two of his biggest hits — the Justin Timberlake-assisted "Dead and Gone" and "Live Your Life" featuring Rihanna — he purposely stayed away from his usual trap music because he was facing federal weapons charges at the time. Now that he has completed his prison sentence, the Atlanta rapper doesn't have the same constraints, so fans can expect to hear hustle-heavy tracks not unlike his 2003 single "Rubber Band Man."

Still, on the upcoming Trouble Man, Tip plans to satisfy fans who not only appreciate his underground work, but those who crave his Top 40 hits as well. He calls it a "high-class problem." "There are so many classes of people and so many different demographics that are looking to T.I. to redeliver their favorite song," he explained. "I've come to the conclusion that when you service one group of those fans, then there's gonna be another group of fans who feel like, 'He should've done what I wanted him to do.' So you just gotta serve each group, so I'm servicing each group at a time."

How much are you looking forward to Trouble Man? Let us know in the comments.

Are Kimye ready to take the next step? Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have each put their Los Angeles-area residences up for sale as they seemingly make plans to move in together.

According to TMZ, both stars are selling their homes as "pocket listings," meaning all parties agree the listings will remain private and won't be advertised. Kardashian is reportedly asking $5 million for her Beverly Hills residence; no word on how much Yeezy wants for his house. But the couple apparently want to rent in a gated area where they can have privacy.

An Usmagazine.com source reported similar news on Thursday (May 31): "Kim is selling her home privately. Kanye and Kim are thinking about moving in together."

Kardashian and West began dating formally earlier this spring after being "friends for years," a magazine source said. The pair were spotted at the Cannes Film Festival last week, where West arrived to premiere his film "Cruel Summer."

While TMZ and Usmagazine.com insist they may soon move in together, yet another source told E! News (the network airs her reality shows) that the rumors are not true, though they did confirm that Kim wants more privacy from the prying eyes of the press at her next pad.

Do you think it's too soon for Kanye and Kim to move in together, if the rumors are true? Tell us in the comments!

Before she took the stage Wednesday night during Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week with her "That's My Boy" co-stars, R&B-pop princess Ciara hit the pre-show red carpet and revealed details of her much-anticipated new single and album.

"I'm so excited about this new record. I'll tell you guys because I love you guys so much, and what would it be without MTV?" Ciara told MTV News on the carpet. "My new album, I'm almost finished with it, and the album title is called One Woman Army."

Army will be the "Goodies" singer's first album at her new label home of Epic Records.

Ciara parted ways with Jive Records in early 2011 following a falling-out over the promotion and support of her last effort, 2010's Basic Instinct, which peaked at #44 on the Billboard albums chart after her first three LPs all enjoyed top-three debuts. She was not without a label for long, signing up to join L.A. Reid's Epic just a few months later. It was Reid who signed Ciara to her first record deal in 2003.

For her part, the pop star seems to be moving in a new direction with Army, calling the album "very, very personal" and saying she "darn near cried" while writing many of the songs.

"This is the most vulnerable I've ever been in my life and career. And I'm so confident with being vulnerable. At one point in time, I was very afraid to be as vulnerable as I am," Ciara said. "This is almost like a journal, my own personal journal when you get this record."

But fans of Ciara's dance-heavy catalog shouldn't fear: The singer assured us there will be plenty of uptempo tracks, including the lead single, "Sweat."

"It's only right that I let you know this too, another bean, that my new single, my first single, is coming. It could be coming anytime soon, and it's called 'Sweat,' " Ciara continued. "I just love to make you sweat in all kinds of ways."

"That's My Boy," which hits theaters June 15, followed a never-before-seen clip from "Snow White and the Huntsman" as part of MTV's Sneak Peek Week festivities, which will also include exclusive first looks at "Magic Mike" tonight (May 31) and "Rock of Ages" on Friday (June 1), as well as live nightly chats with the casts of each film. Tune in to MTV at 11 p.m. ET each night as the casts introduce the clips from their films, and join us at MTV.com after for a live Q&A with the actors. You can also get in on the conversation yourself on Twitter using the hashtag #MTVSneak.

Ciara's "Boy" co-stars Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg will take the stage as presenters at the feature performances by to vote for your favorite flicks now! The 21st annual MTV Movie Awards air live this Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET.

    • Flo Rida Tried To Keep 'Whistle' As Clean As Possible

'But if you listen to it, you can take it another way as well,' Flo Rida tells MTV news of his latest single.
      By Rob Markman

Flo Rida sure has a way with words. On one hand, the Miami spitter crafts catchy tunes that appeal to the masses, but Flo is also a master of the double entendre, masking some pretty suggestive lyrics with a candy-pop coating. His latest single, "Whistle," is a perfect example.

"Can you blow my whistle baby, whistle baby? Let me know," Flo croons on the hook before he instructs his lady to put her lips together and "come real close."

"It's definitely for referees," Flo Rida joked when he visited earlier in May.

"Well, put your own swing on it, but for the most part I keep it clean, but if you listen to it, you can take it another way as well," he finally admitted about his infectious pop single

"Whistle" isn't the first time Flo employed such dual meanings. On his 2009 #1 Billboard Hot 100 single "Right Round" he didn't leave much to the imagination, singing, "You spin my head right round, when you go down" on the chorus.

It's a playful formula that has paid huge dividends for the rapper, but how does he know where to draw the line between sexually suggestive and downright dirty? Well, he gets a little help. "I'm not the only one in the studio a lot of times, so I have my boys in there and they'll tell me and give me their suggestions and what they think," he explained. "If it's too much I'll go back."

So has Flo ever crossed that line? "Yeah, definitely [on] records that you won't hear," he confirmed. "But for the most part I go into the studio with it all planned out."

What do you think of Flo Rida's "Whistle"? Tell us in the comments!

    • Tone Trump Talks Signing With His 'Favorite Rapper' Young Jeezy

'He said a few words, that I'm gonna keep private forever, that really touched my heart,' Tone tells Mixtape Daily.
By Rob Markman, with reporting by Ade Mangum

      Fire Starter: Tone Trump

Essential info: It's no secret that Philadelphia is a hotbed for hip-hop talent. In the 1980s, it was Schoolly D who helped put Philly on the map with his 1986 hip-hop classic "P.S.K. What Does It Mean?" Of course, the Fresh Prince followed a few years later, then the Roots. In the late 1990s, Jay-Z introduced Beanie Sigel to the world, and Maybach Music's Meek Mill is currently the city's most recognizable rap figure.

Still more and more raw rap talent continues to break out of Illadelphia's borders, and the latest contender, Tone Trump, was handpicked by Young Jeezy. These days, a street rapper can't get a bigger co-sign.

"A couple of days ago, I officially signed my deal with Young Jeezy, CTE World, and [it's been] a lot of years of hard work, blood, sweat and tears, risking my life," Trump told Mixtape Daily when he was in New York on Wednesday. "I make street music and I just signed with the biggest street artist in the world."

"It would've been a dream come true to get a so-called record deal with any label probably, but not too many artists get to sign with their favorite rapper or their favorite artists," he said with much admiration. "When I was in the mix and coming up in the grind, his music got me and mines through a lot."

After TT and the Snowman collaborated on Trump's 2011 street single "Afghan," rumors began to swirl of a CTE signing, but the pair finally announced their union earlier this week. Jeezy, Trump and their now-unified crews celebrated over drinks. "It was a toast; it was a boss' toast," Tone said, setting the scene. "Snow, he bought about 40 bottles for the whole crew and it was like all rosé and it was one bottle of Ace of Spades, he put that to the side and gave it to me."

More than the deal, it was Jeezy's commitment that the Philly spitter really admires. "He said a few words, that I'm gonna keep private forever, that really touched my heart, and it meant a lot," Trump said. "I even took the bottle back home like a trophy."

Is Tone Trump's deal with Young Jeezy a good fit for the Philly rapper? Let us know what you think in the comments!

    • Lady Gaga's New Album Will Be 'Insane'

'Look out for the unexpected when it comes to her,' Gaga's co-manager says of the follow-up to Born This Way.
      By James Montgomery

If there's one positive that Lady Gaga fans can take from her decision to cancel a June 3 concert in Indonesia, perhaps it's this: at least she'll have more time to work on her album.

Yes, though she's currently in the midst of a two-year world tour, Gaga is already hard at work on the follow-up to 2011's Born This Way and, according to her co-manager, she's going to push the boundaries even further this time around (which is sure to please those Indonesian Islamic groups).

"There's a lot of work to come, [I'm] very excited about it," Vincent Herbert revealed in a new interview with website That Grape Juice. "[It's] just [an] insane, great record. She's on tour right now, but it's just going to be a great record. Look out for the unexpected when it comes to her. We're doing it on the road right now, so it's a little hard, but it's going to be great."

Herbert wouldn't reveal specifics — tentative release date, title, who she's been working with, etc. — about the new album, but the news that she's recording on the road is actually in keeping with the way she began work on Born This Way, when standout tracks like "Marry The Night" took shape with producer Fernando Garibay during her long-running Monster Ball Tour.

"I just kind of got on the American leg of the tour ... and she goes, 'I want to write another song that can define where I'm at with this album and my life,' " Garibay told MTV News last year. "I go back to the studio bus; I'm just working on parts ... and then, two hours later, she comes offstage and she goes, 'Do you have something to play me?' And I go, 'I do, actually.'

"So I played her the instrumental for 'Marry the Night,' and she goes, 'Open up a mic,' " Garibay continued. "She starts laying down the whole song, like, off the cuff ... right off the stage, using the energy of that crowd and going into the studio, it was amazing. I can't compare it to anything."

Now that Kristen Wiig has officially left "Saturday Night Live," many fans are wondering what the deal is with Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis, who are both rumored to be leaving the show ahead of its fall season premiere.

It seems that fans will have to wait a bit longer to find out. When MTV News caught up with Samberg during MTV Sneak Peek Week, where he sat down to chat about his new film, "That's My Boy," he explained that he's got some time before he needs to give boss Lorne Michaels his two weeks' notice.

"You know, I've just been focusing on the movie and all this stuff," he explained to MTV News. "I haven't talked to Lorne about it yet. Something will get decided over the summer. We'll see. No matter what, it's been a dream come true working there for me."

"I don't know yet. But it was a fun season," he later added during his Sneak Peek chat. "It was a crazy finale. Mick Jagger and Arcade Fire and Foo Fighters. It's open-ended at this time."

Samberg, who hosted the MTV Movie Awards in 2009, sat down with MTV News ahead of this year's show. The 2012 show will be hosted by Russell Brand and feature performances by Fun., the Black Keys, Martin Solveig and Wiz Khalifa. It all goes down from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, live on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.

    • 'American Idol' Teaches Joshua Ledet The Power Of 'No'

'Throughout this competition, I grew a backbone,' Ledet says of his third-place finish and his plans for a post-'Idol' album.
      By James Montgomery

Despite receiving heaps of hyperbolic praise throughout his run on "American Idol" — like, for example, when he was dubbed "one of the best singers ever on the show"Joshua Ledet wasn't angry when he was booted in the week leading up to the "Idol" finale. Quite the opposite, in fact.

"I was happy that I finished third; all the stress was gone from me. I felt relieved that I didn't have to worry about competing, or learning any more songs ... I was really, really relieved after getting voted off," Ledet told MTV News. "Just being on a schedule every day, knowing what you're going to do throughout the whole day, at the exact time, was ridiculous. We would literally go by the schedule. It was tough, rehearsing, learning the songs, doing press, photo shoots, all these different things, all in one day. ... I don't even think celebrities do that much in one day."

And while he might have had some issues with the rather frantic "Idol" schedule, Ledet had none with the guy who ended up winning this season, Phillip Phillips, whom he said "deserved" to be crowned champion — even if, like much of America, Ledet knew it was pretty much a foregone conclusion.

"He's not the kind of person to let people make decisions for him, he stands his ground and does his own thing. I think his career will be great," he said. "I kinda knew in the back of my head that it was going to be Phillip, because his fans are ridiculous."

Ledet added that he'd like to emulate Phillips' attitude when it comes time to make his post-"Idol" album — something that, before he competed on the show, seemed an impossibility for the shy Louisiana native. But now, thanks to his tremendous run and all that praise, Ledet's ready to make the kind of album he wants to, and on his own terms.

"I think throughout this competition, I grew a backbone, and I learned how to say 'no.' And I think when that time comes, to where I'm sitting in a room with a whole bunch of people deciding what my album's going to be like, I think I'll be strong enough to say 'no' to some things and 'yes' to things that I really want," Ledet smiled. "And when they say 'no,' I'll say 'yes' if I really like it. ... Growing a backbone throughout this competition really helped me and got me in the shape I need to be in. ... It's the best thing I took from 'American Idol.'"

    • Chris Brown 'Should Be Respected,' Bobby Brown Says

'The boy is talented, and you can't take talent away. He's a bona fide entertainer,' veteran singer tells MTV News.
By Nadeska Alexis, with reporting by Sway Calloway

Bobby Brown has been on the road with New Edition over the past few months for the group's 30th anniversary tour, and as the veteran entertainer gets ready to drop his fifth album, The Masterpiece, he's showering praise on contemporary stars like Chris Brown, Trey Songz and Usher who have furthered his R&B legacy.

During the height of New Edition's popularity in the '80s, Brown cemented a bad-boy image that stuck with him throughout the years, sometimes to his detriment. The new generation of R&B singers have faced their own unique challenges after being thrust into the spotlight, and maybe none as obvious as Chris Brown. Still, Bobby Brown thinks the young star isn't doing too badly for himself. "He's good; he's a church boy compared to me," Brown told MTV News matter-of-factly.

"Chris Brown is incredible. [He's] an incredible dancer, incredible singer. I respect him a lot because he's held his head up throughout everything that he's been through," Brown said, addressing the singer's much-publicized assault case against ex-girlfriend Rihanna. "He's only been through a little bit, but the boy is talented and you can't take talent away. Talent is given from God, you can't learn what he does. He's a bona fide entertainer and he should be respected."

Despite the setbacks Chris Breezy has faced, Bobby Brown is confident that he has what it takes to stick around in the long run. "He's still young and he's got a long way to go. I'm 30 years deep into this entertainment thing and I could see him 30 years from now, still doing what he does — flipping and singing and dancing," Brown continued. "And now he's getting ready to do a movie, so he's covering the spectrum of entertainment."

Chris isn't the only millennial entertainer who gets praise from Bobby Brown, though. "Trey Songz is definitely a talented brother, he's a talented writer, talented singer," he adds. "I just love the new generation of R&B singers, I think they're upholding what entertainment is about. I got it from Rick James and Michael Jackson, and I'm just grateful that they're taking what I love, what I'm passionate about, to the next level and keeping it young and fresh."

Usher, who will release his new album, Looking 4 Myself, just one week after The Masterpiece drops on June 5, is also on top of the list. "Before Usher even had a record out, I was training him, I'm surprised I didn't put him out," Brown said. "I worked with him a lot, teaching him different ways of training your body to dance and I'm proud of him. I'm glad he kept everything together."

Brown will continue his mission to entertain the masses with The Masterpiece, which is his first album in 14 years. And although he's got respect for the new crop of singers, he maintains that he needed to fly solo this time around. "This project is about me as an individual and me as far as growth in my life, so I didn't really want to go all commercial with it, and to make it something that became a spectacle." Brown admitted. "This is all about Bobby right now. It's just to get this off my heart and once this is released and people are able to hear it and appreciate it, then I can move forward with my life."

The Masterpiece, is set for release on June 5, led by the single "Don't Let Me Die."
