- 'Great Gatsby' Trailer: Five Roaring Scenes
Leonardo DiCaprio revisits his matinee-idol days and Baz Luhrmann recalls his previous work in sizzling new sneak peek.
By Kara Warner
Leonardo DiCaprio in "The Great Gatsby"
Photo: Warner Bros.Anyone who doubted the cinematic treat director Baz Luhrmann will deliver this Christmas in the form of his "Great Gatsby" need only watch the first teaser trailer to have their curiosity decidedly piqued. The visually stunning two-and-a-half-minute trailer features stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan in all their glamorous, early 20th-century-styled glory.
Here are five key elements to look out for:
Leonardo DiCaprio Reclaims Matinee-Idol Status
There's no doubt Leonardo DiCaprio is a gifted, serious actor; just look to his impressive and Oscar-nominated body of work for proof. And while his careful and calculated decisions with regard to his gritty and more art-house-oriented film roles over the years are indeed admirable, there's part of his fanbase dying for him to get back to his matinee-idol roots, ß la Jack Dawson in "Titanic" and Romeo in Luhrmann's 1996 adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet." Judging by what we've just seen in the trailer, his performance as Jay Gatsby will more than do the trick. DiCaprio's acting skills are perfect for the tortured-yet-revered hero, not to mention the fabulous suits he's wearing to fit the time period. The Roaring '20s
Speaking of the time period, there's just something magical about the 1920s, the decade in which the film and F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel take place. The glitz, the glamour and the nostalgia all make for a very alluring package, particularly when put in Luhrmann's very capable hands. It is clear from the trailer that the Australian director's take on Fitzgerald's classic will involve a faithful telling of the story that capitalizes upon the most visually stunning elements of that time period. And don't forget that the film was shot in 3-D.Gatsby At The Moulin Rouge
Luhrmann fans should appreciate the highly stylized, fast-paced theatrical style we've come to know and love from the director. There are several shots of party scenes in the trailer that would have worked just as well in or doubled for scenes from Luhrmann's Oscar-nominated love story "Moulin Rouge." And thanks to the colorful madness on display in the scenes of revelry, it makes the more quiet, emotionally charged interactions between Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan) that much more powerful.Mulligan And Maguire's Moments to Shine
Speaking of Mulligan, it's obvious from Luhrmann's carefully intercut Gatsby and Daisy scenes that the Oscar-nominated actress will be pulling on our heartstrings with her performance. Not to mention Tobey Maguire as narrator/reluctant hero Nick Carraway. His voice-over is reminiscent of Ewan McGregor's in "Moulin Rouge" and reminds us of his underrated performance as "Pleasantville" idealist David. Similar to DiCaprio's return to matinee-idol form, we're excited to see Maguire as a wide-eyed optimist — at least at first.Right Music, Wrong Time
We've already mentioned the fact that the film is set in the 1920s, so how is it that Luhrmann opens his trailer with the 2011 club bumper "No Church in the Wild," by Kanye West and Jay-Z featuring Frank Ocean? Because Luhrmann's anachronistic musical selections have a successful track record, that's why. Would we have picked the song to open this trailer? No. But the bass-heavy, Auto-Tuned beat is perfect for setting up the scenes to come. For the second half of the teaser, Luhrmann deftly foreshadows the story's elements of heartbreak and loss with Jack White's powerful cover of U2's "Love Is Blindness."Check out everything we've got on "The Great Gatsby."

Photo: Chris Hyde/Getty ImagesExpect lots of drama, plenty of laughs and possibly even a few superheroes in the building when Samuel L. Jackson hosts the 2012 BET Awards on July 1, live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. On Tuesday (May 22), BET announced the nominees for their 2012 awards show and even confirmed performances by Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj (though there was no official word on whether the Hulk will attend).
BET president Stephen Hill held a press conference in New York City on Tuesday, and with the help of Big Sean, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, Diggy, Mindless Behavior and Melanie Fiona, he spilled the beans about the big show. Samuel L. wasn't in attendance, but "The Avengers" star sent a pre-taped message promising that the show will be "too big to miss."
Kanye West leads the nominations with seven, including two Video of the Year nods for the Throne's "N---as in Paris" and "Otis." Beyoncé notched six nominations, while hubby Jay-Z earned himself five noms. Big Sean was particularly excited about his three nominations, including his look in the Best Male Hip Hop Artist category, where he will square off against Drake, J. Cole, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Young Jeezy.
"It's perfect. My grandma gonna be watchin', my mom, my family, the whole city," Sean told MTV News shortly after the press conference. "It's just tight that I can represent those people, everybody who had that dream, everybody who used to ride to school [listening to] their idols, now I'm with them. It's just tight that I can show people that it's possible."
Sean broke through last year when he dropped his debut LP Finally Famous. Next, the "Marvin & Chardonnay" MC will appear on G.O.O.D Music's Cruel Summer compilation and then follow up with his sophomore album.
Sean isn't the only big dog being honored at the awards show. Chris Brown, Usher and Bruno Mars are among the nominees in the Best Male R&B category, while Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige and Rihanna will duke it out in the Best Female category. The Throne, Diddy-Dirty Money, Maybach Music Group and Eminem's Bad Meets Evil will compete for Best Group, and Nicki Minaj looks to be the favorite for Best Female Hip Hop.

Photo: Getty ImagesThere is never a dull moment when it comes to Chris Brown and the persistent drama that plagues the R&B star. His showstopping performance at Sunday's Billboard Music Awards has been overshadowed by an attack his Team Breezy fans launched on Twitter against John Legend's fiancée Chrissy Teigen for making a joke about the musician's anger-management issues.
How did the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model manage to upset Brown's passionate fanbase? With this tweet: "So excited to see Chris Brown! I love loud and surprising background fits of rage I can hear from the audience!"
A quick perusal of Teigen's Twitter feed reveals that a multitude of Brown's fans were enraged by her jokey comment and sent her an assortment of obscenity-laden, negative and just plain malicious tweets. The inflammatory nature of the messages reached a saturation point Tuesday (May 22) when Chris Brown himself took to Twitter to issue a cease-and-desist to his fans.
"Team Breezy! Lets stop sending death threats!" Brown tweeted. "I know y'all bout that life but it's the wrong message! Ur turning haters into victims!"

— Chris Brown(@chrisbrown) May 22, 2012Legend also took to Twitter to express his support for his fiancée.
"Personally, I don't think @chrissyteigen's existence is pointless. Nor anyone else who dares criticize a performance. ...Every artist has to be ok with the fact that some people won't like their work. All critics aren't 'haters,' " he continued, aiming that last bit at Brown. "And don't ever tell me to put my 'bitch on a leash,' " he added, referencing the hateful messages he also received from angry Brown fans. "She's a grown woman with her own mind and her own opinions and this is not 1950."

Atlanta rapper detained at NYC's LaGuardia Airport after his ring set off an alarm, Port Authority officials confirm to MTV News.
By Nadeska Alexis2 Chainz joined Drake on his Club Paradise Tour in Atlanta on Sunday night. But while jetting from New York to North Carolina on Tuesday (May 22) for another stop on the cross-country jaunt, the rapper was arrested for carrying "brass knuckles" in his bag.
A Port Authority officer confirmed to MTV News that 2 Chainz (born Tauheed Epps) was apprehended while entering the Delta Airlines terminal at New York City's LaGuardia Airport after officials found a pair of "metal knuckles" in his carry-on bag. Police took Chainz into custody for misdemeanor possession of a weapon in the 4th degree at around 1:45 p.m. ET. "The knuckles were in his personal bag and sounded the alarm," the officer told us.
The "No Lie" rapper was held in detention at the airport, where he'll eventually be taken to Queens County Central booking to be formally charged. Meanwhile, his peers, including DJ Drama and Big Sean, who saw him wearing the ring earlier this week, have addressed the arrest on Twitter, calling foul.
"2 chainz ain't have no brass knuckles, it was a 4 finger ring that spelled hood," Big Sean wrote minutes after news of the arrest was reported. "We had a shoot yesturday n he was rockin em."
DJ Drama, who dropped The Lost Tape with 50 Cent on Tuesday, spread the #Free2Chainz hashtag, adding an Instagram photo that shows 2 Chainz wearing the ring — clearly designed just for style.
MTV News caught up with the Def Jam signee before he took the stage in Atlanta on Sunday night, and he's seen sporting the same ring in the video footage. "The atmosphere is just unexplainable right now," he said of Drake's Club Paradise Tour. "We just came from the West Coast and the closer we get to home, the warmer it feels, as far as the welcome."
In the past few months, the Playaz Circle rapper has broken out of the underground to become a fixture on the mainstream, but he emphasizes that it was a long time in the making.
"I built a relationship with Drake on [Wayne's] I Am Music Tour," he said. "I met Nicki [Minaj] and Drake on the tour, and they're the ones that kept [me believing] in the back of my mind that I could do something, because I knew them when they were just trying to get on like me."
Fans can catch 2 Chainz in much better spirits on tonight's premiere episode of MTV2's "Hip Hop Squares" at 11p.m.ET.

New Zealand-born singer says her 2011 album has 'gone through a bit of an evolution' for its May 22 release in the U.S.
By Jocelyn VenaKimbra has already topped the charts as Gotye's former love on his smash hit "Somebody That I Used To Know." This week, the New Zealand-born songstress will finally release her genre-defying Vows in the U.S.
The album, which incorporates dance, pop and alternative, will be released on May 22. And despite the fact that Kimbra's "lived for these songs for nearly five years," she found a way to renew her Vows by featuring five new songs on the Stateside release.
"It kind of feels like it's gone through a bit of an evolution," she told MTV News. "For that reason, I feel refreshed going out to promote it. It still feels new."
In order to freshen up the album, she enlisted the help of some legendary producers, including Greg Kurstin (who's worked with the Flaming Lips and the Shins) and Mike Elizondo (who worked with Dr. Dre). "I just think you learn a process that works for you," she said. "I think I took a lot from the first few years of making Vows and then when I came here to work in America, I knew the ways I like to work."
Kimbra said she's enjoyed exploring different genres on the new tracks, including girl-power anthem "Warrior" with A-Track and Mark Foster as well as the funky "Come Into My Head."
"It channels a bit of a funk thing, which is something I'm dabbling in more now with the live band," she said of "Come Into My Head." "It's got a lot of syncopation and quite a heavy groove, so, I think, maybe that's a new direction for me to start exploring on the second album, perhaps."

Simons talks to MTV News about hitting the road with 'cool guys' Redfoo and SkyBlu.
By Jocelyn VenaLMFAO has enlisted some hardcore party rockers for their Sorry for Party Rocking Tour kicking off on Tuesday (May 22) in Columbus, Ohio. With the likes of Far East Movement, the Quest Crew, Sidney Samson and Natalia Kills all ready to rock out each night of the 26-date trek, fellow tourmate Eva Simons is excited to be hitting the road with her "big brothers," SkyBlu and Redfoo.
"I'm kind of like their sister, that's the feeling I got," she told MTV News. "They're still like, we have jokes, but they're still very like protective and they're cool guys. They work, they're fun, but in the end we're all just really normal people that also want to have a good time."
While the guys of LMFAO may seem like zebra-pants-wearing party dudes, it's all really a persona crafted in order to come up with all their chart-topping jams.
"You know, everybody's always saying when there's a party song out, 'I can write that song.' Well, can you? Try it! It's not that easy," she said. "You have to really know what's going on, and they know what's going on because they're always in the clubs. They're always on tour and I think that's something you should be doing as an artist nowadays. [You have to] know what's going on in the streets [or] what are you trying to sell us? Some fake story? People don't want to hear no fake story. People want to hear what's real, organic."
So, has she ever been sorry for any of her party rocking? She laughed, "Oh, yeah, yes, I have those moments. I've had those moments I will not discuss."
Fellow party rockers Far East Movement recently shared they have equally high hopes for the jaunt. "There's going to be a little bit of wiggling going on," Kev Nish told MTV News. "There's gonna be shuffling, booty popping, a lot of movement. That's what both crews like to do. Big shout-out to [LMFAO's] Redfoo and the Party Rock Crew and [our label] Cherry Tree, really, for putting this all together."
In addition to wiggling their way through Columbus on Tuesday, LMFAO and crew will be partying all around the country, including stops in Seattle, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Miami. The tour will wrap up on July 4 in Toronto. "It's gonna be a whole lot of bass and a whole lot of showers," Far Easter Movement's J-Splif added. "Bring your raincoats."

ABC's new reality singing show puts seasoned superstars onstage with amateur singers.
By Christina Garibaldi
Kelly Clarkson
Photo: MTV NewsAt first glance, "Duets" may just seem like another reality singing competition, but the new ABC show couldn't be more different. Because this time, the superstars are not behind a judging panel, but onstage with the contestants.
The show, which premieres Thursday (May 24), pits pop star Kelly Clarkson, Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles and R&B crooners Robin Thicke and John Legend against one another as they pair up with two amateur singers, whom they found before the show.
Each week the stars will battle it out, duet style, in front of a live audience to ultimately win the grand prize for the amateur singer: a recording contract with Hollywood Records.
"I basically just found my two people on my own," Kelly Clarkson told MTV News recently at an event announcing ABC's fall lineup. "[Robin] found them a completely different way and John found his a completely different way, it's kind of really random, but it's cool though."
Going into the competition, Clarkson figured she had a slight advantage given her experience on "American Idol," which she won during the first season. But as soon as cameras started rolling for "Duets," she realized she had her work cut out for her. "It's a lot of fun, but it's a lot of work," Clarkson admitted. "I totally thought I had a one-up from 'Idol' ... It is way harder."
"I'm just going to try and do kind of what I did on 'Idol' and hopefully that will help my people," Clarkson said. "It's not really as much up to us, the stars on the show, it's more for the kids that really just need to make sure they are bringing their A-game every week."

Photo: MTV NewsMiranda Cosgrove is just weeks away from filming the final episode of her hit Nick show, "iCarly," but the actress got a sense of what it might feel like to say goodbye when she recently hit the set of "SNL."
Cosgrove was on hand as Kristen Wiig departed "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend, and she couldn't help but wonder if the end of her show will be as emotional. The teen star was in town taping an episode of "iCarly" with Jimmy Fallon when she and her castmates decided to stop by the "SNL" set to watch the Mick Jagger-hosted finale, which also happened to be Wiig's farewell.
"I'm a huge Kristen Wiig fan," Miranda told MTV News this week. "I love her. I was super-excited to go to see her last episode 'cause I've never been to 'SNL' before and it was a pretty cool one to get to go to. ... It was sad it was her last episode and I was kind of thinking in the back of my mind that we're about to finish [our show]. So it was definitely a sad kind of moment, but I'm glad I got to go with the whole cast and we got to have such a good time."
The trip to New York City created a lot of fond memories that Cosgrove said she'll take with her. "It was so much fun, like, getting to be on the plane with everybody. Jerry [Trainor], he met Sean Penn on the plane and he had him sign his Vans," she recalled. "I don't know; it's kind of like an 'iCarly' episode being out here. We all took a carriage ride the other day, we went to FAO Schwarz; we went to 'SNL,' the finale. We've had the best time together here."
With New York City behind them, the "iCarly" crew will film their last episode in June, marking the end of a super successful five-season run on Nick. The series finale airs in November.

Photo: Arnold Turner/ WireImageYoung Buck started his rap career with a ton of promise, but his legal problems thwarted that potential and his woes continue to mount. According to reports, the former G-Unit MC is looking at an 18-month prison stint for gun possession.
The Tennessee rap star has agreed to a plea deal with Nashville prosecutors that will land him behind bars for a year and half, TMZ reported on Tuesday (May 22). A judge signed off on the plea, but Buck won't be sentenced formally until July 13.
"I got to go to the penitentiary in two months," Buck said in a personal video posted online over the weekend. "F--- with me for real, hold me down — and when I get out of the penitentiary, all you rap n---as better get the f--- out the way. I ain't even gonna say no names, but it's a good thing I'm about to go to the penitentiary."
After an IRS raid on Buck's Nashville home in 2010, authorities found a .40 caliber Glock 22 as well as ammunition. The raid followed reports that the rapper had an outstanding $300,000 tax debt, and because he's a convicted felon, Buck is prohibited from possessing any firearms. Back in 2005, he pleaded no contest to assault with a chance to produce bodily injury after he stabbed a man while trying to defend Dr. Dre at the 2004 Vibe Awards.
Buck rose to fame as a member of 50 Cent's G-Unit crew. In 2004, his debut, Straight Outta Cashville, went platinum; he followed that up with 2007's sophomore effort, Buck the World. But by '08, Young Buck had gotten himself kicked out of the group after tension between him and label boss 50. The MC has been releasing mixtape material on and off ever since, including The Rehab, an independent street album.

Photo: Getty ImagesLaurieann Gibson has worked with artists like onetime muse Lady Gaga and current inspiration Nicki Minaj, helping the pop princesses craft stage spectacles and killer dance routines. But, having spent the last chapter of her career shaping the careers of other artists, the former Fly Girl feels now is the time for her to move from behind the shadows and kick-start her own music career.
"When I began to choreograph and find my way pulling other artists' dreams out and changing music in a visual way, there was still a part of me that had something more to say," she told MTV News about working on her solo album. "There was still a desire to rock a stage and ultimately perform the eight count of my dream, but there was a lot of insecurity there."
It wasn't until last year, however, that she found the strength to hit the studio for this album. And she channeled all of those feelings into her music, including her lead single, the dance-floor anthem "Last Chance." "I put that into the album, into the lyrical content and I'm really proud of what is coming out of the studio," she said.
Gibson said she started working on the album after wrapping up her E! show "Born to Dance" and directing Gaga's video for "Yoü and I." "It took a lot out of me creatively and after basically doing a lot visually and looking for another artist to spring board what was inside of me, the reality of 'How can I move something bigger than what I was doing?' It kept coming back to my own self."
Therefore she enlisted folks that she felt could help shape her vision. "[It was about] the own lyrical content, the desire to not necessarily work with a lot of my friends, the top producers and approach the album like that," she said. "So on my team I was working with DeMarco Webster, who has been working with me for a long time too, to independently A&R this vision that we had."
When they added songwriters Infared Ink to the mix, the album began to take shape. "I realized that, for me, great records always moved me with the lyrics and the melodies," she said. "And so I said, 'I think I can do it now,' 'cause I found a team of people who understand I didn't want a record that was 'drop it, pop it, shake it' just 'cause I can dance. We really made the album the old-school way. They watched me fight against the adversity and they learned to take my experience and my lingo and my language and we wrote an album that was really personal [to me]... it's really a super dope project."
Переслать - If You Love 'American Idol,' Vote For Jessica Sanchez
With the 'Idol' finale upon us, and Phillip Phillips the likely winner, Bigger Than the Sound tries to save the show from itself.
By James Montgomery
Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips on "American Idol"
Photo: Michael Becker/ FoxUnlike in previous years, when I called David Cook "a sociopolitical barometer with an awesome comb-over" and compared Adam Lambert to Barack Obama, I've avoided making sweeping generalizations about the 11th season of "American Idol," mostly because, at this point, there's not much about the show that inspires me to do anything (except complain, of course).
Worn down by the past four seasons — the revolving cast of judges, that time Casey Abrams did Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and, of course, the lilywhite list of champions (Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze and Scotty McCreery) — I've come to view "Idol" for what it really is: a massively bloated, increasingly out-of-touch behemoth, one that lumbers and crashes with much import but leaves nary a footprint on the cultural landscape. It has become predictable almost to the point of parody, thanks to the de-fanging of the judges (not everyone is amazing, guys) and the voters, who, judging by their recent track record, seem to value stuff like "nice smiles" and "upper body strength" over genuine talent and commercial appeal. Oh, and the Y chromosome above everything else.
Because of that, "Idol" has unquestionably suffered. Long gone are the days when the show could create actual chart-dominating superstars. None of the previous four winners have done much of anything, sales-wise, which isn't really surprising, given the female-driven shift of popular music. Rihanna or Katy Perry or Lady Gaga or Beyoncé could never be crowned champion these days, mostly because voters would choose the handsome guy with the guitar instead. Given that they're the biggest stars in the universe, that's slightly troubling. If anything, "American Idol" has become completely antithetical to what it set out to be: It reflects the whims of a demographic more attuned to adult contemporary as opposed to pop music.
And yet, I find myself breaking my season-long ban on "Idol" just in time for Tuesday night's (May 22) performance finale, which pits yet another handsome dude with a guitar — the indomitably growly Phillip Phillips — against the sassy, sublimely talented Jessica Sanchez. I'm making this exception mostly because I have loved this show for 11 seasons now, but also because tonight's extravaganza is much more than just another overproduced coronation ceremony: It may very well be a battle for the future of the show itself.
See, for the first time in years, "Idol" voters have a chance to make a genuine change tonight. In Sanchez, they have the show's best hope recapturing that old magic, of creating an actual, of-the-moment pop superstar. She is young (just 16) and current, she can sing pop, R&B and soul, and, as her alter ego BeBe Chez has proven, she possesses that sheer diva-tude that has driven the likes of RiRi and Bey to superstardom. In every way, from her biracial background to her grab bag of musical inspirations (Mariah, Xtina, MJ) to her supreme belief in self, she best represents the whims and attitudes of the millennial generation that drives trends and shapes culture (and downloads singles). In short, she is relatable to the people who really matter, and that's the key to it all. Like Rihanna or Katy or Gaga, there is a belief — either real or imagined — that today's biggest stars aren't only your best friends, they're you, living out your wildest dreams and fantasies.
And "Idol" hasn't had a potential champ like that since, shoot, maybe Jordin Sparks in 2007 (who actually won). Allison Iraheta was gone too soon. Crystal Bowersox was great, but she wasn't going to go pop, no matter what. Haley Reinhart was an old soul, pure and simple. And last year's runner-up, Lauren Alaina, well, she was country to the core. By giving Sanchez the crown, not only can voters send her on her way, but they give the show a shot at actually becoming culturally relevant once again. It can be the launching pad for the next great superstar.
But will they actually do it? Of course not. Phillips is going to win this one in a landslide, carrying on the proudly predictable tradition of the past four seasons — back in January, I begrudgingly signed off my "Idol" predictions piece by declaring "a white guy will win anyway" — and (probably) disappearing very quietly into the night. He seems like a nice enough dude, but he's certainly no superstar, and his win will only send "Idol" further down the relevancy scale, if that's even possible. It will just be more of the same, which, for a show currently on life support, might prove fatal. And when the confetti falls on Wednesday night, and Phillips cracks that same goofy grin, I will shed a tear for this once-proud show and promise myself that I will never watch again. Of course, I will anyway.
So, "Idol" voters, if you love this show like I do (for whatever reason: unintentional comedy, overwrought balladry, you are contractually obligated to write about it, etc.), I urge you to set aside your emotions and vote for Jessica Sanchez. It's the only way we can save "American Idol" from itself. Was she the best contestant this season? Of course not. But she's still standing, and she's our only hope. No offense to Phillips, but in our hour of desperation, we don't need Kris Allen 2.0. We need a glimmer of hope, we need someone to believe in ... we need BeBe Chez.

That's why, when Pitt participated in a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday (May 22), he found himself faced with several questions not entirely related to his upcoming flick "Killing Them Softly."
And according New York magazine's Vulture, Pitt was more than happy to answer all of them.
He was asked about the heavy violence in "Killing Them Softly" and whether, as a dad, he had any reservations about playing a killer. In the gritty crime drama, he portrays a hitman who is hired by a crime boss (Ray Liotta) to find and kill a pair of overzealous upstarts who attempt to stake their claim by robbing a high-profile card game staged by Liotta's character. But according to Pitt, the role didn't disturb him at all.
"Not in any way, because murder is an accepted possibility when you're dealing in crime," he told reporters. "I would have a much harder time playing a racist or something along those lines. That would be much more unsettling for me than a guy who shoots another guy in the face." Pitt went on to say that the violence in the film is realistic in that it's not glorified for the sake of entertainment.
"We live in such a violent world. I certainly grew up hunting, which is a very violent act," he said when asked if the film was in any way influenced by the popularity of graphic video games that involve gangsters and hired killers. "Have you ever had a hamburger? Have you seen how they butcher cows? It's barbaric, it's horrendous, it's very violent. This is the world we live in, so I see it as absolutely important to film."
The Oscar-nominated actor even happily answered a quandary about whether or not his upcoming marriage to longtime love Angelina Jolie would affect his work schedule.
"We have no date. We actually really, truly have no date," he said. "It's something that makes sense to us ... and we're still hoping we figure out marriage equality in the States before then, before that date."

"And ironically, at the same time, I really wanted to have a general [meeting] — 'cause you know how I stalk directors — with Rupert 'cause I really love what he's been doing. I brought up the pitch to him and he said, 'I really love this. I think we should talk about it.' And so it was really just the universe coming together."
"Agent 13" is an adaptation of a 1988 comic book that follows an organization called the Brotherhood, which comprises survivors of the lost civilization of Lemuria. The title character was kidnapped by the Brotherhood as a young boy and trained to be one of their top spies. When Agent 13 realizes the group has been corrupted, though, he sets off to take them down.
Fans are speculating that Theron will play one of the agent's two sidekicks — his seductive lover, China White, or his beautiful, devoted assistant Maggie Darr — but the actress isn't sure which character she'll play. "You know, we're writing it right now so it's a very, very loose pitch," she said, "but it's an alternate world story so it's big and epic and cool."
With the Wyatt project still in its early stages, fans can get their fill of evil Theron as the wicked Queen Ravenna in "Snow White" when it opens on June 1. Her character's cruel nature, she said, gave her license to act like a jerk between takes.
"I'm like yelling for sandwiches and coffee," she joked. "And then, Chris [Hemsworth] comes by and he's like, 'You're not shooting right now, Charlize!' And I say, 'Your head on a silver platter!' And he says, 'No, you're not the queen right now.' And then it crushes me, and I cry, and I deal with it."
While Theron hasn't ruled out playing the nice girl, she teasingly said that for now she takes on the roles most familiar to her. "I stick with what I'm good at," she said, laughing.

Rep says hospitalization is unrelated to run-in with Whitney Houston's family at the Billboard Music Awards.
By Nadeska AlexisWhen Ray J attended the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday night, he reportedly had a tense run-in with Whitney Houston's family. The following morning, he was hospitalized for exhaustion.
A representative for Ray J told CNN that he was rushed to the hospital Monday to be treated for exhaustion and jet lag after returning from a 32-hour business trip to China, where he performed a show and attended meetings. The singer apparently made a four-hour drive to Las Vegas upon his return to host a party for Prince Reigns Hair Serum, and he was later found in his hotel room "extremely disoriented" and "out of it."
Ray J's rep also made sure to point out that his hospitalization was not related to an incident that took place at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night. Ray J, who dated Whitney Houston on and off for several years, was seated in the same section as the late singer's family, which sparked trouble. Whitney's sister-in-law Patricia Houston asked security to forcibly remove Ray J from the section, but he refused. "Pat ruined what was a great opportunity to honor the woman who I loved," Ray J said later.
There's been no word yet on when Ray J will be released from the hospital. Since Whitney Houston's death, he has been outspoken about his grief, admitting, "I really miss my friend, you know, I really do. I'm still hurting." On Sunday night, Houston was honored with Billboard's Millennium Award, which her daughter Bobbi Kristina accepted on her behalf, thanking fans for their support.

Real Spit: When it comes to hip-hop's increasingly artist-centered mixtape culture, there are no bigger figures than 50 Cent and DJ Drama. On the artist side, Fif changed the way rappers approached the tape game with releases like 50 Cent Is the Future and No Mercy, No Fear, hijacking other rapper's instrumentals and making them his own. On the DJ side, Drama created the pivotal Gangsta Grillz series, crafting unforgettable tapes for the likes of T.I., Young Jeezy and Fabolous.
On Tuesday (May 22), the two mixtape giants united on Gangsta Grillz: The Lost Tape, and fans can download the release on DatPiff and Thisis50.com.
"50 is mixtapes. When you think about the mixtape game, you have to credit this man right here," DJ Drama told Mixtape Daily. "He makes what I consider quality street music. I almost feel like the tape didn't happen in '07 because it was meant to happen now."
50 joked that he was bullied to do the tape by Drama, who represents Atlanta. "It was pressure, it was pressure; I was forced. The boys from the south got big on us. So they came down here to the north and said, 'Look, man, you gotta roll with Rush,' " he said with a smirk. "I fully cooperated and now we got Gangsta Grillz."
Drama and Fif aren't the only big names on The Lost Tape, though: Eminem makes a brief cameo on "Murder One." "Ayo Fif, I was thinking, you should go back to doin' the sh-- you used to do," Em says on an intro to the menacing track where the G-Unit general promises death to his enemies.
"Silence, it's the return of the tyrant/ See him through my third eye with both closed eyelids/ Stand closer to the homey you gonna die with/ Flames come up out the muzzle on the sh-- that I spit," 50 rhymes.
In the early aughts, 50 built his reputation by remixing rap songs and adding his own high-powered verses to the familiar hits. He revisits the trend with "Riot" remix, a new take on 2 Chainz's street banger. On "OJ," 50 teams with Kidd Kidd, his new signee from New Orleans. The piano-laced track finds Fif and his protégé drawing an analogy between their murderous ways and embattled football legend O.J. Simpson.
50 Cent and DJ Drama's Gangsta Grillz collaboration may have taken five years to materialize, but you can't argue quality. The Lost Tape was well worth the wait. "We actually centered this concept with an idea we created in 2007, and we're finally getting around to it, so it's well overdue," 50 said.
Joints to Check For:
» "Get Busy": "It's featuring Kidd Kidd. You know, he off that Rider Gang roster, so they gonna get a chance to see some of this new talent that I'm associating myself with. Learn to love it."» "Murder One": "The first video is 'Murder One.' It was actually shot in Brooklyn, New York. It was put together. I got a specific quota I'm utilizing to shoot videos now so I can pick up production value."

'I'm not gonna lie, it feels like you're not gonna recover,' the 'Jersey Shore' star tells MTV News in an exclusive post-rehab interview.
By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Sway Calloway
Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino
Photo: MTV NewsThe mantra you often hear from people in recovery is "one day at a time." And two months after entering a facility to deal with a prescription-medication addiction, "Jersey Shore" star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino knows exactly what that means.
"Ever since I've been out, I'm not gonna lie ... it's not easy," Sorrentino told MTV News' Sway in an exclusive interview in which the "Shore" star talks about his struggle to get sober and his attempts to make amends with his "Shore" roomies, especially soon-to-be-mom Snooki. "But at the same time, where I'm at right now, I'm at a good place. But it took a little bit to get there. In the beginning? A lot of rainy days, so to speak. A lot of rainy days."
In the candid interview, Sorrentino opened up about how he got hooked on prescription pills while denying rumors that any illicit substances were involved. With a renewed, more focused sparkle in his eye, the drama king "Shore" viewers loved to hate in recent seasons said he could barely recognize the man he'd become under the grip of addiction as he recounted the struggle of his first days in rehab.
Watch our entire, exclusive interview with Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino.
"Your first day is detox," he said of the program he attended. "It's not a pleasurable experience at all. ... In the beginning, for sure, when I was [at the facility] in Utah, I'd wake up and just be extremely disappointed with myself. Like, 'I can't believe I got here. How did I get here?' " Mike said he worried about how his addiction would impact his family, his health and his mind, and at one point, he wondered if he'd end up another tragic Hollywood headline if he pushed things too far.
The hardest part for him, he said, was the headlong rush of emotions he felt once he began to come out of his drug fog, a torrent of feelings he'd been blocking that nearly overwhelmed him. "I'm not gonna lie, it feels like you're not gonna recover," he said about that emotional roller coaster. "It feels like an impossible deed ... [but] day-by-day it gets better."
Now that the "old Mike" is back, Sorrentino said he's gotten supportive emails from much of his "Shore" TV family over the past two months, but the one relationship he still needs to repair is his once-close bond with Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi.
"She had my back and I had her back too," he said of the formerly tight duo. "We were close for a long time. ... I am going to say that I am upset that we're not as close as we are today. I care about the girl, for sure."
Mike said Snooki did tell him she was worried about him and asked if he was OK during the throes of his addiction, questions he brushed off at the time. When asked by Sway if there was anything he'd done that he'd want to apologize to Snooki for, Sorrentino was quick to answer.
"Hurting her feelings," he said. "I would never want to hurt that girl's feelings. That girl is very special to me. If I could turn back the clock, which I always say that I have no regrets ... definitely hurting her feelings ... and our friendship."

And this writer couldn't be happier to sit back and let the 'Moonrise Kingdom' duo share a moment.
By Adam Murphy
Bill Murray and Wes Anderson
Photo: MTV NewsCANNES, France — Sitting across from "Moonrise Kingdom" filmmaker Wes Anderson, decked out in a corduroy suit on the beaches of the French Riviera during the Cannes Film Festival, I can't help but ask about his relationship with his muse (and my personal hero), Bill Murray.
Anderson feels around for the words to adequately characterize their connection, which has developed over the course of six films. "Bill is the kind of guy," he begins, "There aren't that many people you could turn to if there was a mob and say, 'Please, guide them this way or that way.' "
Just then, a voice off camera distracts Anderson. The voice remarks how great the "Moonrise Kingdom" premiere party was the previous night.
"Yes it was, it was," Anderson responds. "We were literally in the middle of me speculating about what you get out of this experience of working together."
At this point, I realize Bill Murray is standing just over my left shoulder. "I was going to go on," Anderson says to Murray, "but then I thought maybe it's better if you just say."
It occurs to me that this is actually happening: Bill Murray is crashing my interview with Wes Anderson. Looking more like he's on vacation than promoting a film, Murray joins Anderson on camera. I take my cue to sit back and watch.
"It's really fun, and I do feel that I am sort of in the center, because I've been in [Anderson's films] a long time," Murray says. "And I welcome others to come in, and I try to inform them of the rules of the place and how they have to behave. And the great thing is that the kid [Anderson] keeps getting better and better. ... I'm so proud of what he does now and how much fun he's having doing it. Because that's the reason I do it, 'cause I have fun doing it. And he's really done an excellent job of instructing others how to have fun and make it a real adventure to play."
"Pretty good, pretty good!" Anderson says.
"Yeah, for just waking up!" Murray replies.
After this moment of sincere, shared admiration, Anderson asks, "Can I hug him on MTV News?"
Who am I to stop them? I look back to the camera to make sure this is real. After their embrace, Anderson compliments the longhorn skull on the sleeve of Murray's polo shirt. There's some discussion of meeting on a boat later. I immediately get the impression that these two are as close as we all like to think they are. I imagine the two of them taking turns playing old 45s for each other by lantern light in a tent in the living room.
And then he was gone. Anderson acknowledges that his moment with Murray ate up a bunch of my interview time, a point so ludicrous it actually proves what an earnest guy he is. Someone tells me I've still got a couple of minutes left with him. How do I possibly follow that?

Переслать - 'American Idol' Finale: What Will Phillip And Jessica Sing?
MTV News 'Idol' experts share their choices for the top two.
By Gil Kaufman and James Montgomery
Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez
Photo: FOXIt's the final countdown. On Tuesday night (May 22), Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez will face off for the season 11 crown, capping a roller-coaster ride filled with soaring highs — Sanchez's "I Will Always Love You," Joshua Ledet's "To Love Somebody," Skylar Laine's "Wind Beneath My Wings," that time Steven Tyler wore Roy Lichtenstein pants — and just as many crushing lows — Heejun Han's impromptu strip show, Colton Dixon's hair, Randy Jackson's collection of pins, etc. — with the majority, of course, falling somewhere in between. If anything, this season has given us more of the same: nothing more, nothing less.
Of course, through it all, our "American Idol" experts have stuck it out, providing us with their own, uh, unique insights and their song predictions for each contestant. They haven't always gotten it right (though, for the record, James Montgomery is smoking Gil Kaufman), but they've always given it their all. Which is more than you could say for DeAndre Brackensick, really.
So for the last time this season, here are Kaufman and Montgomery's song picks for the final two. They'll each be singing a producer's pick and the infamous "coronation song" and bringing back one of their best performances from earlier in the season. And speaking of the final countdown, maybe Phillips or Sanchez should try their hand at the Europe classic. Shoot, it couldn't be any more random than Erika Van Pelt's haircut, could it?
Jessica Sanchez
No pressure or anything, but Sanchez only has the burden of trying to be the first woman to take the title since Jordin Sparks way back in 2007. And she needs to pull off that feat by defeating yet another in a string of the show's stubborn WGWG (white guy with guitar) favorites. It can be done, but if ever Jessica needed a "moment," it is right now. She could go for the obvious encore and rehash "I Will Always Love You," but too many people have been going to that well lately. A smarter choice would be her attention-grabbing cover of Jazmine Sullivan's lesser-known "Stuttering" from week seven, or maybe Alicia Keys' "Fallin'." As for what show co-creator Simon Fuller will pick for his potential driver's-ed diva, he must realize at this point that mentor Jimmy Iovine missed an opportunity last week to make Jessica seem contemporary by saddling her with a Jackson 5 song. For that reason alone, I am crossing my fingers that he read our column from last week and he gives her something like Rihanna's "California King Bed" or Pink's "Glitter in the Air." The only way to make this kid seem like a star is to show viewers that she has the potential to sound like all the female superstars they already love. — KaufmanI've already made my case for why Sanchez needs to win this thing, if only to save "American Idol" from itself. Of course, she won't, because "Idol" voters seem content with minting Kris Allen 2.0 instead of giving the crown to an artist with an actual shot at becoming a pop superstar in 2012. But Sanchez won't go down without a fight (BeBe Chez won't let her), which is why I think she brings the thunder and kills "I Will Always Love You" once again, as a subtle reminder to the viewers that she can out-sing Phillips any day of the week (and, as the judges love to remind us, this is a singing competition first and foremost). For the producer's pick, I see her counterbalancing the overwrought emoting of "Love" with a straightforward chart-burner — maybe something like Nicki Minaj's "Starships" or Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe." Either way, it's been a great run for J.Sanch, and I suspect we'll be hearing a whole lot from her in the years to come. You know, as opposed to the dude who's going to win. — Montgomery
Phillip Phillips
I'm the wrong guy to ask about which P-Phil performance bears a repeat listen, because to me, they're kind of like your friend who says he loves that song ... reggae. They are mostly just a wash of different shades of eggshell. People seemed to think his take on Usher's "U Got It Bad" was good, and, for me, it was the only time all season he seemed to take even one half-step out of his comfort zone. Knowing him, though, the contrarian pawn-shopper will probably go with "Volcano." The good thing about Phillips is that no matter what Fuller suggests, chances are Phil's not going to listen. Sing the melody? No thanks. Try a song people might know by an artist that is on the charts today? No way. So, once again, I'm going to go back to what I said last week and suggest that Fuller give Phil a song fully in his wheelhouse and sit back and watch the girls squeal (which, hopefully, will drown out the lack of melody and tone). If it's not the Counting Crows' "Mr. Jones," my backup suggestion is something by Jeff Buckley. Since I know Phil wouldn't do the obvious pick, "Hallelujah," maybe Fuller can convince him to do "Grace" or "Mojo Pin." — KaufmanNeedless to say, it would be a shock if Phillips isn't getting the confetti shower on Wednesday night, as he's steadily built his fanbase with growly determination and general handsomeness (and foot shuffling). It's difficult to pick a standout performance of his from this season — since they've all basically been the same thing — but maybe he tries his hand at Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" again (minus Elise Testone this time) or Damien Rice's "Volcano." What will the producers choose for him? Well, given that he's basically ignored their input all season long, I suspect they'll just throw their hands up in the air and let him do the Dave Matthews Band's "Crash," which should not only make his female fans go wild, but will only solidify his claim to the crown. For better or worse. — Montgomery

Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty ImagesFor those of you who've been eagerly anticipating Justin Timberlake's return to music, that day has come. Sort of.
Timberlake has been hired by fiancée Jessica Biel to serve as the music supervisor and composer for her new film "The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea."
According to The Wrap, "The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" revolves around a grieving widower who attempts to get over his wife's death through a new friendship with an imaginative young girl. Biel will not only star in the film, but serve as a producer under her production company Iron Ocean Films. Jeffrey Dean Morgan ("Watchmen") will play the widower and Chloë Grace Moretz ("Kick-Ass," "Dark Shadows") will play the imaginative new friend.
There's no word yet as to whether Timberlake might also make an appearance in the film, but it would make sense, given the singer/actor's recent self-imposed vacation from the music industry to concentrate on building a film career.
The big question here is if Timberlake's musical compositions and supervision will translate into actual new music from the onetime chart-topper. Only time will tell. The 31-year-old has kept himself very busy in recent years with his work in noteworthy films like "The Social Network," along with his involvement in MySpace and his venture into the world of home décor for HomeMint.
This is the first professional collaboration between longtime lovebirds Timberlake and Biel, who got engaged over the holidays last year and are said to be planning a big summer wedding.

Gaga's tour promoters are negotiating with government officials for Jakarta concert to go forward despite threats from extremist groups.

Lady Gaga
Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImageLady Gaga has responded to the increasingly volatile situation surrounding her "Born This Way" concert in Indonesia, saying on Twitter that she has been asked by authorities to censor her show and has received threats of violence from Islamic hardliners should it go on as planned.
Earlier reports indicated that Gaga's planned June 3 concert at Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno Stadium had been canceled after Indonesian national police refused to issue a permit, citing objections from Islamic groups who worried that Gaga's performance would corrupt the nation's youth. However, Gaga's tour promoters are currently negotiating with government officials and police for the concert to go forward as planned.
"The Jakarta situation is 2-fold: Indonesian authorities demand I censor the show & religious extremist separately, are threatening violence," Gaga tweeted Tuesday (May 22). "If the show does go on as scheduled, I will perform the BTWBall alone."
Fifty thousand tickets for the show have been sold.
While Indonesia is a secular state governed as a multi-party representative democratic republic, it has the world's largest population of Muslims, most of whom practice a moderate form of the religion. However, there are also more extremist fringe groups that have in recent years become increasingly vocal, particularly regarding Western entertainers visiting the country. Beyonc é, for example, was permitted to perform in Indonesia — the world's fourth most populous nation — on the condition she agreed to dress more conservatively.
But these groups' problems with Gaga extend beyond her wardrobe. The country's top Islamic body, the National Ulema Council (MUI), has said it objects to the concert not only because of her provocative costumes, but because it considers her lyrics to be "blasphemous," according to the AFP.
"Lady Gaga is considered an icon for liberal culture and Indonesia's freedom is not without limits," MUI official Asrorun Niam told AFP. "There are restrictions related to norms, morals and religion."
A more militant group, the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), said it would "create havoc" if the pop star's performance went ahead, calling her the "devil's messenger." The Jakarta Globe reports the FPI have purchased 150 tickets to the concert, promising to enter the venue and stop the concert.
A spokesperson for FPI stressed that the group would not attack the audience, as their only target was Gaga and her crew. The group posted to its Facebook page a photo of a member wearing a turban and sunglasses to conceal his face, holding a ticket to the show with a caption reading, "We have gotten Lady Gaga tickets, not to watch but for us to enter. Whatever will be will be, we're ready for the risk."
"Hopefully, the concert is canceled," the FPI has said. The group previously threatened to intercept Gaga in transit from the airport if she even enters Indonesia.
Despite the threats, lawyers representing Gaga's tour production company reportedly met with Jakarta police today to negotiate the conditions necessary for the concert to go on as scheduled. A Jakarta police spokesman has said that for the concert to go ahead, concert promoters need to secure permits from the tourism ministry and the concert venue owner, in addition to ensuring Gaga "is dressed appropriately and does not violate cultural norms in this country."
Gaga also encountered protests in the Philippines from conservative Christian groups ahead of her concerts in Manila, but seemed in good spirits despite the controversy, tweeting, "And don't worry, if I get thrown in jail in Manila, Beyonce will just bail me out. Sold out night 2 in the Philippines. I love it here!"
