- 'Mortal Instruments' Co-Stars Jamie Campbell Bower, Lily Collins Spotted Holding Hands
Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with staff members. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.
Excuse us while we put on our busybody bottoms for a minute, but have you seen the latest snaps of "Mortal Instruments" leads Jamie Campbell Bower and Lily Collins? The co-stars are in Toronto prepping to film the big-screen adaptation of Cassandra Clare's best-selling novel, and, well, here they are holding hands. And it pretty clearly has nothing to do with the movie (in which they play love interests Clary Fray and Jace Wayland).
Cassie told us last year that the two had "incredible chemistry that sort of blazed off the screen" during their film test, so perhaps a big of this on-screen heat has seared into their personal lives? I mean, Jamie is now a single man after parting ways with fiancee Bonnie Wright, and this wouldn't be the first workplace romance for Lily, who dated "Abduction" co-star Taylor Lautner. Of course, this could just be a friendly sign of affection, but we don't make it a habit of holding our best bro's hand while running errands. Just sayin'.
Either way, we're just happy to see the pair in the throes of pre-production on the long-gestating project. Thankfully, there have been a number of newsy nuggets to keep us occupied until filming begins next month, including the debut of the movie's title treatment and casting of Valentine's henchmen.
Do you think Jamie and Lily are a real-life THING? If so, do you think they make a cute couple? Sound off in the comments and on Twitter!
Переслать - 'Hunger Games' DVD: Peep Special Features Trailer!
by Meg Malone
The March opening of "The Hunger Games" was a big deal for me (like, see-it-twice-in-36-hours-on-opening-weekend big deal). When the DVD and Blu-ray drop on August 18, I'm sure I'll screen the film again right away, but based on this special features trailer, I'm also itching to watch all three hours of behind-the-scenes content.
Check out the trailer for yourself!
So, Crushers, what are you most excited to explore further after you (furiously) open your copy next month?
I definitely could go for hanging more with the cast. For a moment there in the trailer, I swore Peeta was real when Josh Hutcherson delivered a compliment to his co-star Jennifer Lawrence with his character's signature charm and heart-tugging "awww" factor. "She's effortlessly amazing," Josh enthused. "I think she's absolutely perfect for Katniss." (Unfortunately, I don't think Josh would say the same thing about me as it is highly unlikely I could climb as deftly as Jennifer does in the trailer.)
I'm also wondering about all 1,200 (!!!) visual effects and also staging all those intense action sequences. Will learning how they staged the action make that Cornucopia scene any less horrific? (Very, very, very doubtful).

Переслать - 'Fifty Shades' News Roundup: Producers, Christian's Countenance And A Parody
Kate Kavanagh better reserve several column inches in today's edition of the student newspaper because "Fifty Shades of Grey" scoops are dominating the wire. (Heh.) From production news to musical parodies, here's what's happening in the world of E.L. James' naughty novel:
Producers In Place
Though the big-screen adaptation of the best-seller is in its earliest stages, Universal Pictures can check one big item off of its to-do list: securing producers. Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti, who worked together on the Oscar-nominated "The Social Network," are re-teaming to bring Christian and Ana's story to life. A director will be the next likely acquisition before casting the lovers can begin. (via The Hollywood Reporter)Christian Composite
Speaking of casting our favorite billionaire BDSM enthusiast, it seems everyone has their own mental image of what Christian Grey should look like. But now, an academic has put fans' fantasies to good use, creating a composite of the comely leading man. Dr. Faye Skelton of the University of Central Lancashire In England used descriptions 12 women gave to a radio station (many of whom cited celebrities) to mock up the mug. The result? A cross between a "Top Gun"-era Val Kilmer, Brad Pitt and Rodney from those Ocean City, Maryland, commercials. His eyes are a little close set for my taste, but overall, he's not a bad-looking man. (via BBC News)Musical Parody
"Fifty Shades" send-ups are nothing new (am I right, Selena Gomez?), but the latest one from AVbyte is fun enough that we thought it worth sharing. The musical follows three different readers: the bored housewife, the disgusted feminist and the secretly-enjoying-it man. Don't pretend you can relate, dudes. (via Entertainment Weekly)What's your take on all the "Fifty Shades" news? Are you satisfied with the producer picks? Do you think the Christian composite is spot on? Переслать - Cassandra Clare Unveils 'Mortal Instruments' Teaser Poster
by Meg Malone
It may not be much, but at least it's something to get our imaginations going! Today, author Cassandra Clare tweeted the teaser poster for the movie adaptation of "City of Bones," the first book in her supernatural series, "The Mortal Instruments."
Check out the teaser poster for the movie of City of Bones! i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc181/s…
— Cassandra Clare (@cassieclare) July 9, 2012
While we wish there was a little more than just text and a glimmer of light to ease our anticipation (August 2013 is so far away!), it makes sense considering production isn't set to start until next month.
The film will star Lily Collins as protagonist Clary Fray, who learns about her family's secret Shadowhunter past. The (recently single) Jamie Campbell Bower will also star as Jace Wayland.
The past couple weeks have seen a few fresh faces added to the production. Just a few days ago, the roles of Pangborn and Blackwell were filled by Kevin Durand and Robert Maillet, and back in June, Jemima West was cast as Isabelle Lightwood.
So, who has their fingers crossed for pictures of the cast in action once production gets underway? You know we do!

Переслать - 'Dark Knight Rises' Star Anne Hathaway Has Nothing Bad To Say About Catwoman Costume
Anne Hathaway is following in the paw prints of legendary screen sirens like Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and Julie Newmar by donning the inky black jumpsuit of Batman nemesis Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises" (out July 20). And considering how iconic the costume is, it's no wonder it garnered plenty of scrutiny when images of the suit first emerged last summer.
Anne's remained largely mum about her "DKR" wardrobe, but when MTV News' Josh Horowitz sat down with the actress recently, she was game to answer a few questions (albeit, vaguely) about the get-up.
As to the best part of the suit, Anne kept it simple:
"The best? I'm in 'Batman,'" she said with a laugh. "That was the best."
And the worst, well, the answer was a familiar one:
"The worst, it doesn't matter; I'm in 'Batman,'" she said. "Like, this is not the sort of job where you nitpick or find things to complain about. I was as happy as I've been on anything on this one, it was 'Count your lucky stars every single day.'"
OK, we get it, Anne. You're in "Batman." Alongside dreamy Christian Bale. You don't have to rub it in. Sheesh!
Crushers, are you psyched to see "The Dark Knight Rises" in a few weeks? What do you think of Anne's cat suit? Sound off in the comments and on Twitter!
Переслать - What Scares 'The Host' Stars Saoirse Ronan And Max Irons?
You guys! Forget aliens. There's something even more sinister lurking out there. Butterflies! Yes, it's true...if you're "The Host" stars Saoirse Ronan and Max Irons.
MTV News recently visited the Albuquerque, New Mexico, set of their sci-fi romance flick, and we came packing a whole parcel of your ingenious Twitter questions. One of them in particular sparked quite the spirited conversation between the two leads:
"What's something embarrassing or unexpected that's happened to you on set?"
Seems straightforward enough, right? Wrong.
"Well, Jake [Abel] and I were going to pull a prank on Max, but that hasn't worked out yet," Saoirse revealed. "Come on. Come on," Max prodded.
"I'm going to ruin it now because we were going to do it in the last week, but we're not going to be able to do it. We have these bugs. Well, [Jake] has them. He found them in New Orleans, and he was going to put them in your trailer, and it was his idea. He told me about it, and I just agreed."
That info didn't sit too well with Max, who's actually turned to Jake in the past to solve his pest problems.
"See, the other day, I was in my trailer and there was something in the trash can," Max said. "I was convinced it was a moth, and I had to go out of the trailer, because I cannot stand that kind of thing, and get Jake. So I trusted him. I went to him in my hour of need."
When Saoirse pointed out that a bug is not the same thing as a moth (is it not?) and that moths are basically butterflies, Max got even more agitated:
"It's nothing like a butterfly. In fact, when they get too close ..."
"What, they'll flutter?" Saoirse asked, adding, "It does kind of freak me out though when a butterfly sticks to your hand."
Here's hoping the cast handle extra-terrestrials better than winged-creatures or else our entire species is doomed.

Переслать - Peep EXCLUSIVE Book Trailer For Mark Frost's 'Paladin Prophecy'
Mysterious packages, holographic invitations, a trunk full of animal faces and a boy who can run very, very fast...and no, we're not talking about a dream we had after eating too many pickles and chugging a glass of chocolate milk. This is just a taste of the intriguing weirdness in store in this EXCLUSIVE book trailer for Mark Frost's new novel, "The Paladin Prophecy." Watch it now, fantasy fans, and then tell us: Do you have even a single, solitary clue what's going on here?
Just kidding! The answer is NO. No, you do not. But that doesn't make it any less exciting to get this early look at the book that's set to hit shelves in September, the first of a trilogy featuring a young man of extraordinary secret talents and an elite prep school where he'll hone them...or, apparently, be pwned by a heavy-footed anthropomorphic statue with an axe to grind.
The trailer features a boy—must be the "Paladin Prophecy" protagonist Will West—nervously matriculating at a remarkable institution called, simply, "The Center." (And before you say anything about that not sounding all that exciting, let's just remember that the X-Men were all students at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, mmkay?) His education at the Center reveals that Will has incredible gifts—mental and physical abilities that defy the laws of physics!—but can they be trusted? Or is this shadowy organization one of the threats that Will's parents have long tried to protect him from?
Alas, we won't have answers to these questions until the book hits shelves on September 25. But in the meantime, we'll be watching (and re-watching) the exclusive trailer for hints...at least until it gets dark, because seriously, that statue is giving yours truly the heebie-jeebies something fierce. (BONUS: The film rights for "Paladin Prophecy" have already been bought, meaning this tale will get our pulses racing on the big screen, too!)

Переслать - Philip Seymour Hoffman Cast As Plutarch In 'Catching Fire'
Hear ye, hear ye, Panem Watchers: We have our first official casting announcement for "Catching Fire"! (And though he's no Finnick, he's still a big-effing deal.)
We are pleased as punch to introduce new Head Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee... otherwise known as actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Admittedly, PSH's casting isn't too big of a surprise seeing as rumors began swirling back in June that the Oscar-winning actor had been offered the plum role of the Quarter Quell's mastermind, but we'll be baking an extra batch of celebratory Peeta bread tonight regardless.
The actor most recently appeared alongside Andrew Garfield (ya'know, Spider-Man) in the Broadway revival of "Death of a Salesman," a role that earned him a Tony nomination, but I'll always remember him fondly as Dusty "Suck Zone" Davis in the incredibly under-appreciated 1996 action flick "Twister." But I digress...
This is another great get for a series already chock-full of well-regarded actors, and should mark the first of many casting announcements to come. (Finnick and Johanna: Show thyselves!)
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" will hit theaters November 23, 2013.

Переслать - Taylor Lautner Is A 'Grown-Ups 2'
Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with staff members. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.
Taylor Lautner may be retiring his "Twilight" character Jacob Black once the saga's final installment hits theaters in November, but from the looks of snaps taken on the "Grown-Ups 2" set, the actor's pec-hugging T-shirts won't be packed up along with his wolfish alter ego. (PHEW, AMIRIGHT?!)
The 20-year-old was spotted in Massachusetts over the weekend, sporting a perfectly tight blue tee and cool pair of shades. The actor is on hand to film scenes for the comedy sequel, which also stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock and "Hunger Games" baddie Alexander Ludwig.
Co-star Milo Ventimiglia recently spilled the deets about his and Taylor's roles to MTV News: "I'm [working] with Taylor Lautner. We're playing fraternity brothers. I haven't started [shooting] — I'm heading out the day after tomorrow — but I met him. He's a sweet kid. A very, very nice guy."
We're excited to see Taylor in his first comedic role—with (or even better, without!) tight T-shirt.

Переслать - Demi Lovato Scores Teen Choice Hosting Gig
Even with her acting career on a bit of a hiatus, Demi Lovato has been looking more and more comfy on camera and on stage since her return to the public eye—and now, she'll have a chance to show off her moves as the emcee of a certain teen awards show!
The announcement came this morning, via an Entertainment Weekly report, that Demi has been tapped to host the Teen Choice Awards two weeks from now, where the teenage public will award coveted surfboard trophies to the winners in categories like Choice Actor, Choice TV Show, Choice Book and so on.
This announcement comes on the heels of another great break for Demi judging the upcoming season of "The X Factor." And while she's been mostly focused on her music career lately, we'll be curious to see if Demi's got the charisma to keep an audience in thrall without breaking into song; if so, this hosting gig might just be the beginning of a more ubiquitous role for the one-time Disney Channel star. After all, this generation doesn't have its Oprah yet...or its Simon Cowell, for that matter.
