- Big Sean Explains Why He Gave Justin Bieber His Pinky Ring
'It's really what bosses do — we give each other gifts,' Sean tells MTV News.
By Rob Markman<P><b>HOLLYWOOD HILLS, California</b> — With friends like <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/big_sean/artist.jhtml">Big Sean</a>, who needs jewelers? After <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> tapped Sean to ride alongside him on <a href="/news/articles/1687112/justin-bieber-big-sean-as-long-as-you-love-me.jhtml">"As Long as You Love Me,"</a> the new single from <i>Believe,</i> the G.O.O.D. Music rapper <a href="/news/articles/1688735/justin-bieber-big-sean-gift.jhtml">gifted</a> JB with a pretty cool piece of bling as a token of gratitude.</P><P>"After he put me on his album and introduced me to a lot of his fans, I felt like, 'Yo, man, just to show my appreciation,' I gave him the Rolex ring," Sean explained to MTV News on Saturday at a party for his manager, Kevin Liles. "It ain't no thing; it's really what bosses do — we give each other gifts.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Big Sean Gives Justin Bieber A Ring" id="vid:810991" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>"It was the first ring I bought as soon as I started finally making money," Sean continued. "I got it and the first time I worked with Bieber, I came to the studio and he just loved this pinky ring I had on."</P><P>When the two stars appeared on the <a href="/news/articles/1687495/justin-bieber-today-show-big-sean.jhtml">"Today" show</a> together in June, the Detroit lyricist took the opportunity to salute Justin. And Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, was on hand to witness the exchange. Last month, Braun recalled the conversation between Sean and Justin to MTV News: "[Big Sean] said, 'I know you said you liked [my ring], and I want to say thank you for involving me in the process and being a part of this, and I want you to have the ring.' And he took it off, and Justin put it on and it was a real genuine moment. They're friends."</P><P>For the "Dance (A$$)" rapper, working with Bieber also allowed him to display his versatility. And although he's known for some pretty suggestive raps, Sean was able to lay a fitting verse on the Darkchild-produced pop hit.</P><P>"It's tight that I can be a person that's so diverse that I can do both of those [kinds of songs] and it's not reaching," he <a href="/news/articles/1687783/justin-bieber-big-sean-true-g.jhtml">told</a> us. "I'm still me ... and I didn't compromise anything for Bieber. You know, I just didn't curse, which is easy. Bieber ends chat with Mojo in the Morning when asked about the possibility of One Direction's Harry Styles seducing his mother.
By Jocelyn Vena<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> ended a recent interview with radio show Mojo in the Morning after the show's host, Mojo, asked if he was afraid One Direction's Harry Styles might end up seducing his mother, given his <a href="/news/articles/1683999/one-direction-harry-styles-celebrity-crushes.jhtml">penchant for older women</a>. It was a question the 18-year-old pop star didn't find amusing.</P><P>"I mean, definitely somewhat [I am friends with One Direction now]. They were in town a while ago and they came over and stuff, but, yeah, they're good kids," he said when asked about his friendship with the Brit boy banders, before adding, "I don't think you should worry about me [and my mom with Harry Styles] — worry about your mom, bro."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber Proving His Haters Wrong With 'Good Music'" id="vid:793035.id:1687833" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Mojo then noted that his mother had passed away, before Bieber hung up on the call. The interview has since been taken off the <a href="http://www.mojointhemorning.com/pages/show_archive.html?feed=184218&article=10238007" target="_blank">show's official site</a>, but found its way onto <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABf0tVHCFXU&feature=youtu.be" target="_blank">YouTube</a>. It wasn't the only contentious part of the interview. Prior to that, Bieber seemed to be annoyed that Mojo had compared his <a href="/news/articles/1684462/justin-bieber-boyfriend-nsync.jhtml">single, "Boyfriend," to the musical stylings of Justin Timberlake</a>.</P><P>"Man, that's crazy 'cause our voices sound nothing alike. I mean, I'm not trying to sound like anyone. Saying I sound like someone else is not really a compliment. ... I think if you were to say I heard some Justin Timberlake-esque things in your sound I would take that as a compliment," he said.</P><P>"Justin Timberlake is definitely really talented and is similar because he's white and he's singing pop, R&B," he continued, mirroring a comment his manager Scooter Braun recently made about <a href="/news/articles/1688037/justin-bieber-vs-justin-timberlake.jhtml">the comparison</a>. "I think we both have the type of edge. I definitely want to have my own lane and not be compared. But I think he is super, super-talented."</P><P>On Saturday, Mojo tweeted that he had been suspended in response to the interview; Clear Channel, which broadcasts his show, said in a statement to industry trade magazine <a href="http://www.radioink.com/Article.asp?id=2485628&spid=24698" target="_blank"><i>Radio Ink</i></a> that "As a policy we don't comment on personnel matters." Clear Channel had yet to respond to MTV News' request for comment by press time.
