  • Star Spotting: Avril Lavigne Will Always Out Badass You (PHOTO)

Avril Lavigne takes a break during an Abbey Dawn photo shoot to remind us of her bad-assness.

If Avril Lavigne's recent Mexico fiesta where she danced on tables and grabbed some BFF boob doesn't prove her IDGAF stance on life, here's more photographic proof that girl's a timeless punk badass while sporting new Abbey Dawn fashions. Also, if you're wondering if Avril remains the toughest and cutest girl in anything skull-patterned, the answer is YES. If you disagree -- there's the door. Capiche?

While we VERY patiently wait for some new Avril tunes, we can definitely settle for this adorbz picture of the "What The Hell" singer taken during her latest fashion line photo shoot. Avril shared the photo on her Facebook with the caption, "Chillin on a couch on my lunch break at my Abbey Dawn photo shoot right now. Shoes!" It's nice to know that while we may never be badass equivalents to Avril, we at least have something in common: a shoe addiction! That and taking sassy #GPOYs while lounging on our lunch breaks. Her pics just happen to capture an effortless rock star vibe, while ours document the food stuck in our teeth.

  • New Video: Nicki Minaj, 'Pound The Alarm'

Nicki travels to Trinidad to get wild for her "Pound the Alarm" video.

Listen up, Barbies! The winning streak for Nicki Minaj doesn't seem like it's going to end anytime soon. Not only was she nominated for three 2012 MTV VMAs (vote away, Barbs!!), but she also just dropped her latest video for club banger, "Pound The Alarm." Filmed in Nicki's birthplace of Trinidad, we see her celebrate her home turf with a Carnivale-style party with lots of confetti and little clothing (not to mention some serious wobble). We really oughta book a flight down there.

Watch Nicki Minaj's "Pound The Alarm" after the jump.

Earlier this month, Nicki released a teaser and discussed the importance of filming the video in Trinidad. "I never thought in a million years I would ever do this," Nicki said. "The last time I came to Trinidad, this was the exact room that I stayed in. This is where we shot 'My Time Now' for MTV. My whole family came in." And it looks like nearly the whole country showed up for this video shoot. The scenes are filled with flooded streets of people covered in feathers and costumes, dancing until dawn with Nicki. Seriously, we may have just bought a ticket to fly down to Trinidad. Spontaneous vacay!

  • Go Behind The Scenes Of Mayday Parade's 'Stay' Video

See how Mayday Parade went EPIC on the set of "Stay."

There's a first time for everything, and Mayday Parade's "Stay" video has plenty of firsts. In new behind-the-scenes footage from the set, the band unveils the new experiences that led to the finished product -- starting with their IRL meeting with filmmakers Thunder Down Country, who previously did the group's animated "Oh Well, Oh Well" video. It's Mayday Parade's first video in a studio, and Thunder Down Country's first filming with the new blockbuster-grade RED EPIC camera. Singer Derek Sander even figures out how to tie a tie as the band suits up. Smart decisions, gentleman.

Watch Mayday Parade's behind-the-scenes footage from their "Stay" video after the jump.

The Florida-bred group filmed the video in Ohio, which also involved a treacherous drive through the snow. "We had to take it pretty slow," Sanders says. "There were cars spun off the road all over the place." Luckily for us, road safety and making a sweet video are at the top of Mayday Parade's to-do list. See how they did it below.

  • New Song: Frank + Derol, 'Barely Love You Too'

Brandi Cyrus and Codi Caraco are Frank + Derol, and "Barely Love You Too" is basically a pop masterpiece.

You'll have to excuse us for gushing, but can we just get a big round of applause for the Cyrus family? While we've been distracted by Miley Cyrus showing off her impressively toned abs, fearlessly fighting for marriage equality and occasionally moving us to tears with her sensitive covers of Bob Dylan (all hail Queen Miley, y'all!), her sister Brandi Cyrus has been coming for the crown. In fact, she just recorded one of the most irresistible pop songs we've heard all year with her pal Codi Caraco as part of their band Frank + Derol.

Listen to Frank + Derol's "Barely Love You Too" after the jump.

Frank + Derol's "Barely Love You Too" is a gorgeously sweet, lo-fi pop gem that spills over with yearning and vulnerability in an intoxicating hook and a nostalgic dose of '90s twee (as this could easily be a Belly B-side).

"Stop these games/ You got me feeling like I'm so insane/ You know I'd tell you but I feel restrain/ Is it safe enough to say/ Remind me, qu'est-ce que c'est?/ I barely love you, too," the girls harmonize over the lush, fuzzy production.

Now working with Interscope Records on an EP due out in September and a full-length release in 2013, expect big things from Frank + Derol, who could easily corner the alt-pop market if they keep this up. Billy Ray and Trish must be so proud!

  • WHY Is One Direction's Harry Styles KISSING A BRIDE!?? (PHOTO)

One Direction's Harry Styles kisses a very lucky bride.

So, we don't wanna panic you guys or anything, but One Direction's Harry Styles kissed a bride! Yeah, all we can say is that BETTER JUST BE FOR PRACTICE, bro. We're totally cool with Harry wearing a ridiculous looking sombrero, we have no issues with him showing off his new Ferrari and we have zero qualms with him getting up-close-and-personal with a koala. HOWEVER, it's truly painful for us to witness him kissing another woman, let alone a BRIDE!

As the story goes, Harry was out taking a relaxing stroll in Oxford yesterday when he stumbled upon this blushing bride! Naturally, the newlywed was ready to ditch her husband and run away with Harry was excited to see a member of One Direction, and Harry obliged her with a gentle kiss on the cheek. Honestly, best wedding entertainment ever, and SHE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO PAY FOR IT! Also, congrats honey, because you're probably the only woman in history who was totally encouraged to kiss another man on her wedding day.

  • Mariah Carey Unveils 'Triumphant (Get 'Em)' Cover Art (PHOTO)

Mariah Carey doesn't look a day over 21 in the cover art for "Triumphant (Get 'Em)."

Mariah Carey's been a giant tease as of late. After news broke confirming her new gig as an "American Idol" judge, Mariah told the world about her Rick Ross and Meek Mill-assisted new single "Triumphant (Get 'Em), then she tweeted her amazing legs a photo from the video set. Next up? Her smokin' hot cover art. See, we told you: SHE'S A BIG OL' TEASE.

As is evident by the pose she is striking, though she clocks in at 42 years old, Mariah quite literally doesn't look a day over 21. Dem Babies' mama is showing more leg than Angelina Jolie would ever dare to show, and her face is as smooth and as taut as a newborn baby's bottom. In short, if Mariah's new single sounds as good as she looks, she'll be at No. 1 for however long everyone wants to gawk at her hotness. Incidentally, that's probably forever. Look out for Mariah's new single when it drops on Aug. 2.

  • Example, Frank + Derol, Delta Goodrem + More: 5 Must-Hear Pop Songs Of The Week

It's Tuesday! Time for another round of "5 Must-Hear Pop Songs of the Week"!

This week's roundup includes a rave o'clock arena anthem from the U.K., a gorgeous ballad from one of my favorite up-and-coming U.K. songstresses, a brokenhearted disco anthem from an Australian goddess--and yes, even a little ditty from a member of the Cyrus clan that isn't Miley, y'all.

    1.) Example, "Say Nothing"

When Example isn't too busy writing global smash hits for The Wanted ("Chasing The Sun") or hopping on tracks with the prolific Calvin Harris ("We'll Be Coming Back"), the hitmaker is unleashing amazing new music from his forthcoming fourth studio album. "Say Nothing," the lead single from the record, sees the British singer-songwriter and rapper merging '80s new wave with arena-size EDM beats, resulting in something that plays like Tears for Fears meets The Wanted meets Lady Gaga's "The Edge of Glory" meets a whole lot of awesome. Throw in a howling, Coldplay-esque "oh-whoaaa" chant as the song nears its crashing ending, and you've got one of the biggest, most instantly anthemic EDM tracks of the year.

+ LISTEN TO EXAMPLE, "SAY NOTHING"

Listen to more Must-Hear Pop Songs after the jump!

2.) Frank + Derol, "Barely Love You Too"

So, here's the thing: Miley and Billy Ray ain't the only ones in the Cyrus family that know how to make a hit or two. Meet Frank + Derol, the Interscope duo made up of Codi Caraco and Miley's older half-sister, Brandi Cyrus. "Barely Love You Too" is the group's dreamy debut single -- and it's also one of the best new songs of the year, hands down. A little bit The xx and a little bit Lykke Li, the indie-pop track dreamily floats with ghostly croons and a hypnotic guitar strum. "Stop these games/ you got me feeling like I'm so insane," Caraco croons. It may not be Top 40 radio material, but I believe Miley would agree -- it's pretty cool.

+ LISTEN TO FRANK + DEROL, "BARELY LOVE YOU TOO"

3.) Delta Goodrem, "Dancing With A Broken Heart"

Robyn's dancing on her own. Ke$ha's dancing with tears in her eyes. And now, Delta Goodrem's dancing with a broken heart. For the second single from her upcoming fourth studio album, the stunning Australian chanteuse has opted to step onto the dance floor in spite of a bout of sorrow for her gorgeous, tears-at-the-disco anthem. "I won't look back tonight/ this is the time of my life/ Underneath these stars/ dancing with a broken heart," she defiantly sings above the song's hypnotic dance beats. And while this may be a synth-filled uptempo jam, fear not: Delta's not succumbing to dirty disco! The heaven-sent vocals and gorgeous strings in the distance provide pure class to the dance floor.

+ LISTEN TO DELTA GOODREM, "DANCING WITH A BROKEN HEART"

4.) Jess Mills, "For My Sins"

While the past few releases from rising U.K. singer-songwriter Jess Mills have found her dabbling in drum 'n' bass and dubstep influences, her latest single has her belting it out like never before. "For my sins, I'm here without you/Don't you know that my heart is breaking too," Mills cries out on "For My Sins," her stunning new mega-ballad due out in September. Set above slow-breaking beats and a soaring string section, the heartbreaking number evokes pure Annie Lennox and Sinéad O'Connor. It's a gorgeous track, proving that not only can the talented songstress handle a dirty wobbling rhythm, but almighty balladry too. Keep your eyes peeled for her debut!

+ LISTEN TO JESS MILLS, "FOR MY SINS"

5.) Apster featuring Eva Simons, "I Need More"

A week without a throbbing new house anthem by our beloved Eva Simons is sort of like a year without rain -- it simply won't do! Luckily, the talented dance-floor chanteuse is giving us all life with yet another club cut, this time at the hands of Dutch DJ Apster. "I Need More," her latest EDM smash-to-be, finds the chanteuse working up 'n' down against a massive beat breakdown, sizzling electronica and wobbling synthesizers. "I need more," Simons whines against a wickedly filthy beat. It's a big, bouncy and bold production -- just like Eva's fabulous hair! Get into it.

  • New Video: Carrie Underwood, 'Blown Away'

Carrie Underwood channels "The Wizard Of Oz" in her new "Blown Away" video.

Not sure about you guys, but the only thing we like more than a brand-new Carrie Underwood video is a brand-new Carrie Underwood video that's inspired by "The Wizard Of Oz." Right, so I may or may not have been Dorothy for Halloween six years in a row, but that's a story for another time. (My mom made me custom sparkle slippers... what do you want from me?)

Watch Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away" video after the jump.

In "Blown Away," Carrie plays the daughter of an alcoholic and abusive father. It's clear Carrie tries to help her dad, but when he gets too physical, she decides she'd had enough. While all of this is going down, a "Wizard Of Oz" caliber twister is a-brewin', and Carrie decides to go it alone and brave the storm... literally. In the singer's own words: "We wanted to create this modern-day, tragic 'Wizard of Oz' mini-movie." Yep, mission fully accomplished. Though we do kinda wish we'd gotten to see you interact with one of those baller flying monkeys. No doubt you'd come out on top of that battle.

  • 10 Interesting Things I Noticed About The 2012 VMA Nominees (And Most Of Them Are About Rihanna)

The 2012 VMA nominees: battles, BFFs, and boy bands!

The 2012 MTV VMA nominations are out! You've probably got many opinions about them (NO KRISPY KREME!?? DUDE WAS ROBBED!), and so do I. But because I'm the one with the mic (I have no idea how that happened), let's talk about a few interesting things I've noticed about this year's VMA nominees.

1.) Rihanna's got one of the biggest potential VMA hauls -- she's up for five VMAs. Katy Perry's up for four VMAs, and they're battling each other in head-to-head hot-girl-to-hot-girl competition in four different categories: Video Of The Year, Best Female Video, Best Art Direction and Best Visual Effects. My thing is like, I hope this doesn't affect their BFF status, you know? I actually hope they each win two each for the sake of parity and for the sake of friendship.

2.) Rihanna's got four different videos on the board -- "Take Care," (which she's nominated for with Drake), "We Found Love," "Where Have You Been" and "Princess Of China" via Coldplay. If you're Rihanna, how do you choose your favorite video? Do you think she does that thing my mom did, where she told me and sisters that we were each her favorite so we'd all think we were the most special in a backward way? Like, HOW DO YOU CHOOSE? Thankfully you guys are doing the voting.

3.) Five of the six professional VMA categories feature a video Rihanna was in. The point is, if you want a cool-looking video, make sure Rihanna's in it.

4.) Speaking of Rihanna, both Drake and Chris Brown are battling each other in the Best Male Video category... Awkward.

Find out more about the 2012 MTV VMA nominees after the jump!

5.) Speaking of guys doing battle in the Best Male Video category, Usher's up against his protégé, Justin Bieber, in that category. Total "Emma" situation but with dance battles and gratuitous use of the word "swaggy."

6.) And speaking of students becoming masters, Carly Rae Jepsen, whose BOSS is Justin Bieber, is up for Best New Artist, which Justin Bieber won in 2010. Justin Bieber's probably like "Oh man, now I know how Usher must feel." And then he's probably like "whatever, swag," and hops in his chromed-out Fisker Karma and goes to Taco Bell.

7.) Speaking of Justin Bieber, he and girlfriend Selena Gomez were both nominated for VMAs; he's nominated for Best Male Video and Best Pop Video, and Selena Gomez and the Scene are nominated for Best Female Video. I hope they both win for the sake of things not being awkward in their relationship, you know? I wouldn't want to be "the one who didn't win a VMA that year" in the relationship, you know?

8.) Both One Direction and The Wanted were nominated for Best New Artist, which was a relief to me, quite frankly, because both British boy bands are so obscenely hot talented and have major hustle and were equally deserving of a nod. (I thought "Glad You Came" alone should've been nominated for EVERYTHING, but they didn't ask me this year. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see if either band can steal Best New Artist away from fun., Carly Rae Jepsen or Frank Ocean.

9.) Two Beyoncé songs were nominated, "Love On Top" and "Countdown." As a Beyoncé Stan, I think EVERY Beyoncé song should be nominated for EVERY award, so if one wins and not the other, I'll be deva, personally.

10.) Duck Sauce's "Big Bad Wolf" was nominated for two VMAs, proving that you can have a high-dea as completely revolting, hilarious and NSFW as making a video made of human d***heads, and you could wind up nominated for two VMAs. Nicely done!
