- 'Dumb And Dumber 2' Set To Film This Fall With Jim Carrey And Jeff Daniels
You can go ahead and erase any trace of "Dumb and Dumberer" from your memory. We will finally have a true follow-up to the original 1994 comedy.
ComingSoon.net recently spoke with Peter Farrelly during the "Three Stooges" junket, and one half of the brotherly duo confirmed that "Dumb and Dumber 2" is set to go in front of cameras later this year.
"We're getting set to shoot 'Dumb and Dumber 2' in September," Farrelly said. "It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back."
Understandably, Farrelly wanted to make clear that he and his brother had nothing to do with 2003's "Dumb and Dumberer."
"We did not do 'Dumb and Dumberer,'" Farrelly said. "That was a studio thing. So we've always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, 'We've got to do this thing again.' He had just watched 'Dumb and Dumber' and he said, 'This is the perfect sequel. Let's do it.'"

Переслать - 'Woman In Black' Sequel Moving Ahead Without Daniel Radcliffe?
The Woman in Black, the British specter that scared up $120 million worldwide this past winter, is set to return in a follow-up to the surprise horror hit, but the leading man, Daniel Radcliffe, probably won't be around for a second encounter.
Hammer, Alliance Films and Cross Creek Pictures, along with Susan Hill, the author of "The Woman in Black" novel, have announced a follow-up called "Angels of Death." The proposed story will take place 40 years after the first film starring Radcliffe, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
Spoilers ahead.
For those of you who saw "The Woman In Black," two problems with this setup should strike you. First of all, setting the film 40 years later would age Radcliffe's character Arthur Kipps beyond the ages the actor could realistically play.
Oh, and there is the small problem that Radcliffe's character dies at the end of "The Woman in Black." You'd have to imagine that if Radcliffe were to make an appearance, it would have to be a ghostly one.

Переслать - 'Angry Birds' Movie Won't Hit Until 2015 At Earliest
This just in: the "Angry Birds" movie has been postponed. Boo! But in happier news, there's an "Angry Birds" animated series launching in the very near future. Hooray!
Deadline has the scoop that 52 animated "Angry Birds" episodes "will be flocking to all possible devices ahead of next fall." The episodes will be roughly two and a half to three minutes in length. Further, while a movie adaptation is still in the works, Rovio animation chief Nick Dorra revealed that it won't be ready for the "2013 or 2014" season, making 2015 (!!) the earliest we'll see pig-smashing action on the big screen.
As for what the animated series / movies will be about? Dorra said he believes the "Angry Birds" animated property will be "telling more engaging stories…and deeper thoughts, deeper feelings of the characters, such as, why are they always angry?" Sounds a bit too heady for me, but as long as the black bomber bird gets to explode in a few pigs' faces during the 52-episode run, I'll probably be content.
That's all for now, folks. You may now resume obsessing over "Angry Birds Space" like myself. (Seriously, it is awesome, but way too difficult.)
Переслать - 'Game Of Thrones' Recap: 'The North Remembers'
by Joel Hanek
A brief preamble: While I can't claim that I was there from the beginning and have devoured all of George R. R. Martin's fantastic series in literary form, I have been claiming my right to the throne ever since marathoning the first season of "Game of Thrones" over a weekend. In other words: I'm not an expert, I'm just a fan who now annoys all of his friends by constantly asking them if they've watched the show yet and gets frustrated when Auto-Correct messes up all of my texts in Dothraki.
By some miracle divined by the Internet Gods the shocking reveal of Ned Stark's beheading at the end of season one remained unspoiled for me – so I approached season two not with the question of how would the death of the Stark patriarch effect the characters in the realm but rather how would it effect the show as a whole? To the Westeros virgin, Eddard seemed to be the glue of the show, and without him I was curious to see whether "Game of Thrones" would thrive or languish. Thrive it does.
Warning: spoilers are coming.
Let me just start by saying that if ending the opening episode of the first season with a soft-core incest sex scene is too subtle for your palette, "Game of Thrones" has got you covered in season two by seeing your sibling ribaldry, matching it with paternal incest, and then upping the ante with baby murder. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Opening the episode in King's Landing we pick right up where we left off with the Lannister family: Joffrey is still King Douche, Cersei has mastered the smile-cry face that she does, and Tyrion continues to be the Chandler of the group. I love Tyrion because he is one of the few characters that forces the viewer to step back and take a look at the larger picture in the world of Westeros: his quips offer levity by shining a light of self-awareness on the absurdity of it all while simultaneously cutting to the underlying raw emotion of characters motivations (e.g. his "bastards and broken things" speech to Jon Snow to this week's brilliant "redeeming qualities" speech to Cersei about her cheekbones and her love of family).
Meanwhile in Winterfell, I am proud that Bran has aspired to bigger dreams and has swapped Blinky the Raven for direwolves.
The first new central characters of the season we see are the Fire Priestess Melisandre and Stannis Baratheon. One thing I've learned from "Game of Thrones" is that if you have awesome sideburns your days are numbered. So when Melisandre pulls a Vizzini on ol' Maester Cressen, she quickly becomes one of the few characters that is portrayed as untrustworthy from her very introduction. Stannis, meanwhile, barely has any screen time here, so perhaps it's too soon to judge, but I find myself already missing Robert. The slain King Baratheon was such a large presence on-screen. Stannis has yet to make a single joke about his love of drinking and whores, yet it seems he'll play a larger part in influencing the fate of the realm than his scene stealing brother.
Speaking of dead kings, somewhere in Robb Stark's roving camp we find the Kingslayer Jamie Lannister in captivity sporting a Williamsburg hipster beard. It's great to see the first stages of metamorphosis for Robb as he went from hesitant heir in season one on to full-fledged leader of men. The stage for the Stark power players has been set as Theon finds a purpose and sets off to the Iron Islands to recruit support from his estranged family, while bereaved Catelyn heads off to seek alliance with Renly Baratheon.
For the big finish, "Game of Thrones" decided to pull all of the stops. While Jon Snow infers the sinister act of infanticide up north Beyond the Wall, the show actually shows more child abuse than a "Toddlers & Tiaras" episode when King Joffrey, still reelin' from slappin' Cersei's action chop and those nasty incest rumors, orders all of Robert Baratheon's bastards be slain. Joffrey is the super villain that the other Lannisters could never be.
All in all this was a pretty awesome way to start the season and shed any doubts about the series being great without Ned Stark. Can they put Dany on Westeros now, please?

Переслать - 'Total Recall' Trailer Keeps Colin Farrell Away From Mars
When it comes to fledgling old '80s movies in desperate need of a modern makeover, I'm not sure how high "Total Recall" ranks on my list. As a lifelong Arnold Schwarzenegger super fan, I tend to believe that returning to the Austrian Oak's classics without Arnie in tow doesn't usually equal success. (See "Terminator Salvation" and "Conan" for more.) Plus, no one's face is going to react to the airless surface of Mars the same was as Arnold's -- assuming this one goes to Mars at all, which, by the sound of it so far, isn't happening.
All that said, if anyone can convince me that "Total Recall" is ripe for a remake, "Breaking Bad" super villain Bryan Cranston could well be the guy. Sure, he only appears for half a second in the brand new "Total Recall" trailer, but the very idea of Walter White in space is just too damn awesome to ignore.
That's not mentioning the rest of the notable actors involved in this project: Colin Farrell taking on Arnie's old Quaid role, with Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel ducking it out as his evil and good female leads respectively. A solid cast, definitely, but will it amount to a compelling film? I'm less sold on the all-in-one shoot-'em-up scene that serves as the centerpiece in the trailer, and more interested in what we haven't seen yet: more of the new "Recall" world (which feels a bit like an extension of "Blade Runner" in true Philip K Dick style), more Cranston, and maaaaybe even a quick Mars shout out.
Check out the "Total Recall" trailer over here. The movie hits theaters on August 3, 2012.

Переслать - Exclusive 'Mission: Impossible' Clip: Brad Bird Decodes His Mission Objective
After making three beloved animated movies, "The Iron Giant," "The Incredibles" and "Ratatouille," Brad Bird made a jump to live-action film in a most unexpected way. He didn't take on a fable populated by wide-eyed children, retired superheroes or talking animals, like his animated features. Instead, Bird directed the fourth film in a wildly popular action-adventure series, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol."
The transition, one that surprised many familiar with his work at Pixar, was anything but surprising to Bird. During the time in Bird's career where he actively developed film projects, more than half of those proposed films were live-action. His most storied project was the repeatedly-stalled "1906," an epic retelling of the San Francisco earthquake of that year and the police corruption responsible for the subsequent chaos.
After "Ratatouille," "1906" had stalled out once more at the story stage after years of struggling with a huge budget, and Bird decided he wasn't going to wait around for his move into live-action. "Suddenly, I had looked up and a couple years had gone by, and there were still significant story challenges on '1906,' and I said, 'I can't keep preparing to make a movie. I've got to make a movie,' " Bird said.
Enter Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams, two minds behind the third "Mission: Impossible" film. Cruise had met with Bird years before, not long after the release of "The Incredibles," to talk about films in general, and as Cruise describes in an exclusive clip from the Blu-ray, the prospects of working together. "With Brad, he came to my house, and I said, 'Look, I think you're a live action director,'" Cruise said. " 'When you decide to direct live action, I would love to work with you.'"
But it was years before Bird would accept his mission. After the most recent roadblock on '1906,' Bird was meeting composer Michael Giacchino at the offices of Bad Robot, Abrams' production company, when he ran into the super producer. "J.J. kind of said, 'What are you doing?' I said, 'I'm looking for something.' And it's literally that night, I got a text from J.J. at 11 o'clock, that just said, 'Here's a weird one: Mission?'" Bird said. "That was the entire text. I didn't know that they were preparing another 'Mission: Impossible.'"
For Bird's first foray into live-action filmmaking, "Mission: Impossible" seemed like a distinctly un-Bird choice, but where others saw an unlikely pairing, the director saw a challenge. "The film offered a number of opportunities to invent stuff that would be challenging to put on the screen but fun in a popcorn way, a lot of puzzle piece kind of things that were tough to pull off, physically demanding and ambitious on the scale," Bird said. "I did not approach it cynically at all. I said, 'Hopefully, this is going to justify a lot of popcorn.'"
When Bird had completed the task of actually filming the globe-trotting secret agent thriller, he insisted on approaching even the distribution method with the same mentality. Similar to how Christopher Nolan used IMAX to film portions of "The Dark Knight," Bird utilized the large format for several key action sequences. For the initial release of "Ghost Protocol," Bird convinced Paramount to only screen the film in IMAX theaters, a plan he called "counter-intuitive."
"We knew that our numbers were never going to be big, but what was cool was that everyone who saw it saw it at its best," Bird said. "They saw it on really large screens with really great sound. I think that that generated word-of-mouth that kept people coming to us for quite a while."
"Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" went on to make nearly $700 million at the worldwide box office, a record for the series. Bird saw the box office success as the work of modern day "showmanship." When it came to marketing his own blockbuster action movie, Bird saw an opportunity to do right by the business he loves and to do it his way.
"I think that we ought to be constantly trying to surprise our audience and not just doing one kind of film," Bird said. "But I was really happy that we did have legs because that meant when people saw the film, they were enjoying it."
"Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" hits Blu-ray and DVD on April 17.

Переслать - 'Game Of Thrones' Season Premiere Live Blog: Winter Is Here!
Winter is here! Winter is here! Thank the Seven, winter is here! At long last, "Game of Thrones" has returned for its second season, bringing us our first new trip to Westeros since last year's dragon-birthing finale "Fire and Blood." Tonight, we kick things off with "The North Remembers," an aptly titled episode filled with Stark vengeance, Lannister cruelty and Baratheon plotting. In short: it's everything you know and love about the HBO fantasy series, just with a lot less Ned Stark. (Rest in peace, Lord of Winterfell.)
Our live-blog of the season premiere starts right now, so join in and follow along while we watch winter and war sweep over Westeros!
9:58 PM: And that's a wrap! Hope you guys enjoyed returning to Westeros as much as I did. Check back in a few hours for the first of our new "Game of Thrones" weekly video recaps, and for now, let me know what you thought of the episode in the comments or on Twitter!
9:56 PM: Who's that "boy" at the center of the first "Thrones" season two cliffhanger? Looks mighty familiar...
9:54 PM: Bastards can't catch a break, can they? In seriousness, this scene is easily the most disturbing thing I've ever seen on "Thrones." And trust me, having seen the next three episodes, it only gets worse over the coming weeks...
9:52 PM: O hai gratuitous "Game of Thrones" sex scene! How we missed you!
9:51 PM: Jack Gleeson, good on you for being bold enough to play Joffrey with all of the whiney, bratty, little bitchiness that the character fully deserves. Said it before and I'll say it again: Joffrey is even more wicked on the show than he is in the books, which is quite the accomplishment.
9:46 PM: And there goes Theon Greyjoy, at the very beginning of the first of many, many, many bad ideas to come. Alfie Allen is going to have a lot of fun sinking his teeth into the "Ironborn" Theon throughout season two. Non-readers might be surprised to hear this, but Theon is, in my opinion, a clear-cut top ten character. Keep watching.
9:43 PM: A lot of the people I know who've seen this episode already didn't enjoy this scene between Cersei and Littlefinger. Honestly, I'm a fan of it, if only to see Lena Headey and Aidan Gillen participating in the most unexpected "Sarah Connor" and "The Wire" crossover of all time.
9:38 PM: Robb Stark and Jaime Lannister, both characters who mostly sit out of book two, are being given much bigger roles for the show's second season. It's a good thing, too — Richard Madden and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau are fantastic in the roles. Plus, more direwolf action!
9:36 PM: In the books, Maester Cressen's arc plays out differently. You feel awful for him — he's publicly embarrassed, Melisandre takes the first sip to give Cressen a fleeting moment of feeling victorious... on the show, he just comes out looking like a chump. No big loss in this guy's death. My only real knock against the episode, I'd say.
9:33 PM: Grievances aside, there's no knocking Carice van Houten as Melisandre. She's perfect for the role of the red priestess of Asshai. Same goes for Liam Cunningham as Davos, who is making an otherwise dry character (in my humble opinion) into someone a lot more lively.
9:30 PM: Welcome to Dragonstone, dear readers. I love this storyline in the novels, but yet to be convinced on the show. Not a fan of how they restructured the prologue chapter from "Clash." Curious to see what you guys think of it all.
9:27 PM: Did somebody say Mance Rayder? The King Beyond the Wall is one of my very favorite characters in the entire series. Don't think we'll see him this season, though I could be wrong. Whenever he shows up, though, this is the guy I want to play him.
9:25 PM: Meanwhile, north of the Wall, incest is just as popular as it is down south. Craster's a mean, nasty mother-effer. Perfectly cast, perfectly adapted. You really want to see an axe buried in this guy's face, don't you?
9:22 PM: Love that final shot of Dany's blood-riders heading out in all different directions. Things are going to be pretty bleak for Dany this year — to start, at least. Hope those dragons help to pass the time...
9:20 PM: Speaking of going for it, hello comet! And hello dragons! Computer generated and looking great. Baby Drogon is absolutely adorable. (Dany's poor dead white horse, on the other hand? Not as adorable.)
9:17 PM: Rumor has it that there won't be any Jojen or Meera this season. I'm okay with that, as long as they show up eventually — but Natalia Tena as Osha is pretty darn fantastic, so getting more of her is certainly not a bad thing.
9:16 PM: Bran Stark, bored and broken in Winterfell. But hey, wolf dreams! They're really going for it!
9:14 PM: Expect a lot of Dinklage / Lena Headey action this season. The two of them are fantastic together; this scene's just the tip of the iceberg.
9:13 PM: The long summer is over, says Pycelle. As Ned warned, winter truly is coming now, and these fools are going to need a miracle if they're to be ready for the coming snowfall — a miracle named Tyrion, perhaps!
9:10 PM: Bring in the Imp! Peter Dinklage, first billing this season, making his grand return in the season's very first scene. Great choice on D.B. Weiss and David Benioff's part. "Death is so boring" indeed.
9:09 PM: Ser Dontos! A great character from the books. This poor drunk has no idea who he's speaking to in Joffrey — who, by the way, is going to be even worse on the show than he is in the books, if you can believe it.
9:07 PM: Right off the bat, a big change from "Clash of Kings." Instead of starting with the Maester Cressen on Dragonstone storyline, we're brought immediately back to King's Landing. Not that anyone's complaining — any episode that begins with a knight getting knocked down to his bloody doom is pretty A-OK in my book.
9:05 PM: Love these opening credits. The "Game of Thrones" Blu-ray has a feature on creating the show open really makes you appreciate how much detail went into building this thing. Bonus points for the first appearance of Dragonstone! Certainly not the last new location we'll see this season.
9:02 PM: Shh! It's starting!
8:57 PM: Three minutes until game time. Last chance to catch yourself up on "Thrones" madness with this week's Talk Nerdy!
8:54 PM: But really, all of these books are in the A-range. "Feast," the one I rank last, gets an A- from me. If that's how fifth place finishes up, that's a pretty damn good track record. (In other words, those of you falling in love with the show with each passing episode, please read the novels — they are the greatest.)
8:51 PM: My power-rankings of the five "Ice and Fire" novels, by the by: "Storm of Swords," "Game of Thrones," "Clash of Kings," "Dance with Dragons" and "Feast for Crows." Book one beats out book two only because it's the original gangster on the street — it's the one that hooked us all. Gotta give props to the master. (Also, nothing tops book three, especially the last half. Ho-lee-spit.)
8:48 PM: We've got some time to kill before the premiere starts, so let's talk books. I love "A Clash of Kings," the novel that season two is (mostly) taking its cues from. It's your first really good look at the greater shape of the "Ice and Fire" tale: no Ned, lots of Tyrion, and (if you can believe it) even more sex, gore and war. Big emphasis on the war.
8:45 PM: Hello there! I'm Josh Wigler, and I'm a Thrones-aholic. I'm assuming you are too if you're joining me here. That's good — this is a safe place for "Ice and Fire" obsessors. Now grab a goblet of Dornish red and let's get down to it!
What did you think of "Game of Thrones" tonight? Let us know in the comments section or on Twitter!
