  • Robert Pattinson's 'Mission: Blacklist': First Look At Promo Poster!

    Mission Blacklist

If you've been following movies anytime since 2008, then you're probably acutely aware of what Robert Pattinson's eyes look like—especially if you're a frequent shopper at Walmart. Well, guess what? They're back.

The promotional poster for "Mission: Blacklist" was released by Embankment Films. The image casts a shadow around Pattinson's face only revealing his glowing peepers. The tagline for the film stands out in white among an assortment of letters and reads, "In a world of lies, only one man can see the truth." Standing out towards the bottom of the poster is the name Saddam Hussein.

Check out the full poster and read more about the film after the cut, and thanks to Mission Blacklist Film for the heads up!

Based on a true story, the film is an adaptation of Eric Maddox's book "Mission: Black List #1: The Inside Story of the Search for Saddam Hussein—As Told by the Soldier Who Masterminded His Capture." It recounts the tale of the man who played a vital part in the capture of terrorist Saddam Hussein.

The film is set to be sold at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival this month and was described by the film's producer Ross M. Dinerstein as "a gripping, edge-of-your-seat thriller."

He told The Baltimore Sun, "I have been inspired by Robert and [director] Jean-Stephane's dedication to tell this story in the most authentic way possible."

What do you think of the first promo poster for the film? If you saw it in a theater would it catch your attention? Tell us in the comments and on Twitter!

  • 'Prometheus' Debuts Extended Featurette And New Images

    Prometheus

The recent "Prometheus" featurettes have made it really hard to go into the movie spoiler-free. The latest one includes some new footage and a basic set-up of the movie's plot, so if you're looking to avoid plot details for the upcoming movie, our advice is to not read past the jump.

Now we already know that "Prometheus" deals with two big questions: who are we, and where did we come from? This new featurette deals with both of those questions and expands on how director Ridley Scott tried to base the film in some form of reality.

The three and a half minute long video has plenty of new reveals. We get a closer look at the aliens the Prometheus team is facing in this movie, as well as whatever face-hugging creature attacks Logan Marshall-Green. With the added context of Noomi Rapace's character's search to find the alleged alien origins of humanity on Earth, the pieces of the plot have begun to fall into place.

But no matter how excited we thought we were for this movie, our interest jumped to a whole new level when Scott promised that "what I want to do is scare the living s--t out of you." Badass.

    Prometheus

The new images are not as revealing, but just as great to look at. They offer a clearer look at the alien civilization found on the planet Prometheus journeys to, as well as a tease of the advanced technology used on their ship.

"Prometheus" is due out in theaters on June 8. It stars Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Marshall-Green and Charlize Theron.

  • 'Dark Shadows', 'The Avengers', And More: Double Feature Friday!

    Dark Shadows Cronos

One week later, and people are still talking about "The Avengers." If you're headed back to the theater to see it again or are just checking it out for the first time, we have the recommendation for your pre-viewing, plus pairings for the rest of the week's releases.

Check out this week's Double Feature Friday!

    "Dark Shadows" & "Cronos"
In his latest collaboration with Tim Burton, Johnny Depp plays a good-intentioned, reluctant vampire. If that breed of blood-sucker is up your alley, check out Guillermo del Toro's "Cronos" before heading to the theater. The film tells the story of Jesús Gris, an elderly antique shop owner, who comes into possession of a device that turns the user into a blood-thirsty immortal. Del Toro fills "Cronos" with his signature, wonderful weirdness, and the movie marks his first collaboration with Ron Perlman, oddly the only American in the cast. "Cronos" is fun, exceedingly creepy, and definitely worth a look.

"Girl In Progress" & "Under the Same Moon"
Patricia Riggen, the director of "Girl In Progress," made a moderate splash on the indie scene with 2007's "La misma luna," the tale of a young Mexican boy, who travels on his own to the U.S. to find his mother. It's a weepy, heart-warming story that works because its charm forces us to overlook some obvious shortcomings. The story often takes an overly sentimental route, but by the time the movie reaches its conclusion, we defy you not to reach for a box of tissues.

"God Bless America" & "Six Month Leave" from Mad Men
Bobcat Goldthwait's systematic annihilation of pop culture stars Joel Murray as a terminally ill man bent on murdering every last American idol and Kardashian. In another life, Murray created those cultural icons as Freddy Rumsen, senior copywriter at Sterling Cooper. Rumsen's defining moment came during season 2 of the AMC drama, when he drunkenly wet his pants and promptly passed out before an important meeting. It's a classic.

"The Avengers" & "Serenity" from Firefly
Because you're probably going to see "The Avengers" again this weekend, it only feels appropriate that we have another recommendation for you. This time, go back into the Joss Whedon oeuvre and watch one of the greatest pilots ever assembled and then idiotically aired halfway into the first season. "Serenity" is a text book example of how to introduce an expansive world and cast without making the audience feel in over its head. Whedon establishes the sparkling ensemble and the space opera-western mash-up efficiently, while having fun throughout.

What are you watching this weekend? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter!

If one movie is never enough for you and you're looking for a flick to get you in the mood for this week's new release, Double Feature Friday is here to help. Every week we break down the new releases and pair them with older movies that you should catch before heading out to the theater. Or just skip the new movie and check out the classic we recommend.

  • Josh Brolin Excited To Play 'Funky' Hunchback Of Notre Dame

Josh Brolin is a busy man these days, with his scene-stealing and spot-on performance as young Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) in "Men In Black 3," chasing baddie Sean Penn with Ryan Gosling in the buzzy ensemble crime flick "Gangster Squad," and getting "gnarly" in Spike Lee's "Oldboy."

Would you believe he's also got a dark and dramatic adaptation of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" in the works with a possible assist from Tim Burton?

Brolin recently told MTV News how the project suddenly came together. "'Hunchback' will happen for sure, for sure," he said. "I woke up one morning and said, 'I want to do 'Hunchback of Notre Dame.'"

The actor also spoke about Burton's involvement with the project, which is currently unclear. "[I] talked to Tim [Burton] for awhile, talked to the studio, all that yeah. Tim's involvement might be direct. It might be indirect, but it's going to happen for sure."

Brolin also spoke highly of the screenplay, which was written by "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" scribes, Kieran and Michele Mulroney. "It's a really really good script," he said. "The Mulroney's wrote a brilliant, brilliant script, I'm really excited about it, [we're going to film] next year."

The new film will be a loose adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic tale, according to Brolin, with more focus on the character Pierre Gringoire, a street poet who falls for Esmeralda.

"It seems par for the course at this point, [to play] a funky big-headed, strange-looking guy that's going to crawl around, pop around the all over cathedral. I like the idea of that," Brolin said with a chuckle. "Warner Brothers is going to do the movie. They've done the [Disney] version, we'll do a different version. There's a lot of humor in it, it's jazzy and it's fun."

  • Rihanna Leads 'Battleship' Premiere In Today's Twitter-Wood

This time next week "Battleship" will blast into theaters, but a few lucky people saw the film at the L.A. premiere last night! Rihanna brought her whole family along for the voyage as she hit the blue carpet in a revealing dress that made us question why she ever held boob envy for Brooklyn Decker. But we digress with a blush.

When MTV News caught up with the singer-turned-actress she told us her debut role intimidated her. "I was walking into this as an amateur—a complete amateur. I didn't know anything and I had a good team to learn from. I watched them, and especially Taylor [Kitsch], 'cause we did a lot of scenes together and he would always offer me advice."

"There was nothing for them to be intimidated about," she continued. "I was the wreck. I was a wreck, just like, scared to sh--, especially when Liam Neeson showed up to set."

It's her first acting gig. It also happens to be one of the most highly-anticipated films of the summer. Plus, she was starring alongside Neeson who was a Jedi Master in the "Star Wars" prequels, voiced a powerful lion (who happened to represent God) in "Narnia" and kicked a whole lot of bad guy ass to save his daughter in "Taken." Obviously being intimated is extremely irrational.

It's unclear if "Battleship" will sink or swim against the current box-office champion "Avengers," but we'll find out soon enough!

  • Will Ferrell And Zach Galifianakis Square Off In 'Campaign' Trailer

    The Campaign

One way to ensure your political campaign doesn't go as planned is to punch a baby square in the face. Will Ferrell's character in the upcoming comedy "The Campaign" is sure to learn that the hard way.

Earlier in the week, two fictional campaign ads for Ferrell's and Zach Galifianakis' characters showed up on their respective Facebook pages, but now Apple has a full-blown trailer for the Jay Roach-directed political satire.

Check out the full trailer after the jump!

As you can see it's going to be a very bizarre race to the finish.

  • Johnny Depp Enjoyed Playing 'The Reluctant Vampire' In 'Dark Shadows'

Few actors will completely throw themselves at a role like Johnny Depp. He always seems fascinated by the character, and that interest really comes through when he speaks about his work.

For "Dark Shadows," Depp's interest in Barnabas Collins comes from the contradictions within the character. Yes, he's a vampire, but he never wanted to be. For Depp, that's where the fun comes in.

"Playing the reluctant vampire, in a sense, who has been locked in a box for 200 years," Depp said, "it's his misfortune to be let out in an age where things are probably at their most surreal in terms of 1972."

That particular time period only makes things harder for Barnabas, and as Depp explained, there may not have been a stranger time for his 18th century vampire to wake up.

The era seems odd just looking back 40 years later, but for a vampire who had been locked away in the 1700s, it has to be one hell of a culture shock. "It was a very, very odd period. Things were changing radically. The peace and love thing was over with, and we were rapidly approaching disco, so there was musically and aesthetically. That was the fun of it, to place this hyper-elegant figure from the late-18th century into one of the weirdest times of all time."

"Dark Shadows" is open in theaters everywhere.

  • 'Star Wars 1313': What's In A (Domain) Name?

This week, the buzzword in the Star Wars universe is not actually a word at all, but a number: 1313, to be exact. Everyone's wondering why Lucasfilm purchased domain names relating to "Star Wars" and those mysterious digits.

Many theorists say it has something to do with a long-awaited Boba Fett movie, but Eric Geller of TheForce.net doesn't buy it. "My best guess is that '1313' refers to Thursday, January 3rd, 2013," Geller says. "They may be planning to unveil the starwars1313.com website this fall and use it to tease an announcement that will be made on 1/3/13." But why a Thursday? "I have no clue," Geller admits. "It's an odd day of the week to make an announcement, but maybe they really wanted the double-13 repetition factor."

Geller also has a notion about what exactly Lucasfilm will announce on 1/3/13. "I think it will be details about Seth Green's animated series. Seth Green and his team have been working on this show for a while, and Lucasfilm must be getting close to finalizing certain details."

Bryan Young of BigShinyRobot.com agrees. "The story in my head is this: From what I can piece together about the show, it's about the entertainment in the Star Wars universe without the war. What if 1313 is the in-universe channel on the holonet they're putting their content on?"

What if, indeed? Let the conjecture continue…

Also this week comes news that should be appreciated by anyone who has ever asked herself: What gift do you get for the Star Wars fan who's got everything? Well, you get her frozen in carbonite!

That's right – now, for about a hundred bucks plus the price of admission to Disney's Hollywood Studios, you can carbon-freeze yourself, sort of.

I'm not sure I like this idea; though Han Solo looks great in carbon I don't think it would suit me. How about you – is this a trinket you just can't live without? And do you have your own theories about Star Wars 1313? Let us know in the comments section below or give us a shout on Twitter!

In The Comlink, "Star Wars" fan and MTV News producer Tami Katzoff explores the glory days of a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Whether you're Team Jedi or Team Sith, friend of Wookiees or wanted by bounty hunters, any and all "Star Wars" fans are welcome along for the ride.
