Переслать - Peep A Preview Of Naya Rivera's 'This Is How I Made It' Episode
"Glee" star Naya Rivera may be a fan favorite among devotees of Fox's song-and-dance series, but for many years, the starlet struggled to get work in Hollywood because of her perceived racial ambiguity. She opens up about those rough years in tomorrow's brand-new episode of "This Is How I Made It." Watch a preview below!
"I am half Puerto Rican, a quarter German and a quarter black. That was always a big issue for me — being mixed race — because casting directors tended to be very like, 'OK, are you Hispanic for this role?' 'Or is she going to be African American?'" Naya recalled. "So, it was really tough and work started to show down. From the time I was 16 to really up until turning 21, the roles were really, really few and far between."
Hear the rest of Naya's story on Saturday's "This Is How I Made It," airing on MTV at 12/11c.

Переслать - Halloween Costume How-To: Take Sweet 'Revenge' As Nolan Ross
by Melissa Albert
You don't need a Midas-sized bank account to dress like snarky "Revenge" billionaire Nolan Ross—just a lot of collared shirts. Whether hacking into Grayson Global, hanging with revenge-obsessed gal pal Amanda Clarke or awkwardly hugging his bro-crush, Jack, Nolan always projects the perfect blend of man-child innocence and software-genius smugness. And because nothing says "give me the good candy" like dressing up as everybody's favorite Hamptons mogul, here's how you cop Nolan's style this Halloween.
The look starts with a super-bright polo, and continues with the all-important SECOND polo, complete with snappy stripes. Make sure both collars are visible and seriously popped. We think the teal in this one ($14.99, Old Navy) will bring out Nolan's, er, your eyes, but you can also find a goldmine of cheap polo shirts at every single thrift store ever. Top off your tops with an east coast-casual blazer. For ladies rocking the look, we think this lemon-yellow one ($39.94, Old Navy) is very "Nolan on a yacht," but if you've got a khaki or charcoal gray in your closet, that's just as good. Now pull on a pair of khaki pants, or go for a subtle pinstripe ($29.90, Forever 21).
Alternatively, if you don't feel like wearing pants at all, just put on your best Jockeys and go as "Nolan smirking at his peons over webcam." (When nobody gets it, remind them that billionaires play by different rules.) Finish the look with a pair of two-tone boat shoes ($24, JCPenney): perfect for lounging and perfect for sneaking around the white-haired man's murder complex.
Almost as important as the shirt stacking is the hair. While this year Nolan is rocking a flattering crop, we're still partial to last season's Bieber-on-a-bender shag. If you've got bangs, brush them forward and FLUFF. If not, consider investing in this amazingly appropriately named "shag man" wig—just 20 bucks!
Now practice the dry, hilarious one-liners you'll be using all night. Feels good to be Nolan, right?

Переслать - Go Back To The '80s With New 'Carrie Diaries' Photos
As an adult, Carrie Bradshaw writes for Vogue. As a teen, she just, well, vogues.
The cast of the upcoming CW series "The Carrie Diaries" are striking their best poses in a fresh batch of publicity photos released by the network today, and they couldn't be cuter. From left to right we have: Katie Findlay as Maggie; Brendan Dooling as Walt, Ellen Wong as Mouse, AnnaSophia Robb as Carrie, Austin Butler as Sebastian, and Freema Agyeman as Larissa.
The series, which will debut in January 2013, follows Carrie as she falls in love for the first time—with Manhattan. So it was fitting that the cast and crew gathered in New York City on Monday for "The Carrie Diaries" world premiere at the New York Television Festival.
While there, we caught up with Carrie herself, AnnaSophia, and couldn't help but wonder aloud what her favorite "Sex and the City" episode is.
"There's different parts of the show I just love," she told us. "There's one where Carrie is dating Berger, and they're fighting, and [a character in his book] has the scrunchie in her hair, and [Carrie] says, 'Your book is great, but no New York woman would ever wear a scrunchie'... I think it's so funny because I love scrunchies."
I bet we'll see at least a couple in this '80s-set series!

Переслать - Style Superstar: Leighton Meester Says Yes To A Hanger Dress
It's no surprise that the best-dressed character on "Gossip Girl" is a Style Superstar off-screen, too: Leighton Meester made one gorgeous hostess at the Flaunt Magazine new issue launch party this week, celebrating her status as their latest cover girl in a whimsical print dress that earned her this week's top honors for excellent fashion sense.
Leighton looked fresh and edgy in this Mary Katrantzou strapless crepe dress, which features a pattern of interlacing clothes hangers on the bodice (how meta!) and a slim, stiff skirt with pockets. And while she played it safe with the shoes—a pair of classic black pointed-toe pumps—the pinkish-purple pop of color on her lips and her cute 'do gave her party look just the right amount of punch.
Also sporting a bold print this week: Rachel Bilson, who stepped out in a great one-shoulder drop-waist dress by Preen at the "Fun Size" premiere in LA. But while the red leopard print is a fun and flattering choice for the petite star, she loses points for the odd pairing of matte grey suede pumps that look like they belong with an entirely different outfit. Say it with us, now: NOT WITH THOSE SHOES.
What do you think of this week's style picks?
Переслать - Robert Pattinson Recalls Filming Insanity-Inducing Vampire Action Scenes
If you've been in a nail-biting, lip-chewing, furniture-shredding state of anticipation over getting to see Kristen Stewart finally, at long last, playing a vampire in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2," you'll be gratified to know that you're in good company; according to her "Twilight" paramour Robert Pattinson, he, too, was excited to see how Kristen handled the transition from clumsy human to red-eyed bloodsucker! And when he sat down to chat with MTV Australia during a recent trip to Sydney, he chuckled at the memory of watching her get comfy with her undead status.
"She was really excited about being a vampire," he said, laughing. "Everyone else who'd been pretty consistently in the movies had obviously been playing a vampire every day, for ages; it was funny seeing someone suddenly come into it and try to figure out their own version of the physicality and mentality of it."
But according to Rob, Kristen met the challenge with ease. Which, y'know, makes sense in the context of her character: "It's supposed to be her natural progression, for her to become a vampire," he said.
Less easy—for everyone—was the process of filming the movie's biggest scenes, including the final showdown with the angry Volturi which (as we all know from watching the trailer on constant loop) happens on a grand scale in a huge, snow-covered field. And, says Robert, the endless green-screen shooting started to take a toll.
"We were shooting this big action sequence for about two and a half months, in this massive warehouse where they usually sell cows, with a bunch of fake paper snow and green walls," he remembered. "You literally start to go insane after a while."
Psh. You think that's bad? Imagine how the cows must feel!

Переслать - 'Vampire Diaries' Recap: 'The Rager'
by Cassie Title
Since tons of stuff happened during last night's episode of "The Vampire Diaries," I wasn't sure where to start. So, it's a good thing I take such extensive notes. Here's what I found when referring to said trusty notes. Microsoft Word automatically titled the document (since it happened to be the first line) the following: "Who be this creepy guy outside Tyler's room?" Uh, yeah. Pure poetry, I tell you. And said creepy guy was Connor, our new un-friendly vampire hunter in town. So we'll start from the beginning.
Connor's on a mission to bore me. I mean, he inserted a needle into Lockwood's teeth to extract some werewolf venom. Seriously. I mean, I'm kind of excited to unravel the mythology around his "invisible ink," but I just can't see him as a real threat, considering how easy it was for Damon and Klaus to almost kill him.
Klaus is back! Since Tyler very publicly avoided Connor's death threat last week at the memorial, it looks like Carol called in the troops for reinforcement. And by the troops, I mean Klaus-hybrid-minions. Yeah, there are hard feelings between our hottest hybrids, but Klaus apparently can't afford to lose any of his new descendants; hence: Tyler's new hybrid bodyguards. Which again, I'd like to point out, is so four months ago. Get over it, Klaus!
Meet Hayley. Oh hey, Phoebe Tonkin! If Nina Dobrev can't convince producers to bring back Katherine, homegirl may be our next best option. I'm not saying she's as badass as her old character Faye on "The Secret Circle" (R.I.P.), but Hayley seems to be a pretty cool girl to kick it with. Apparently, she helped Tyler break his sire bond way back when he was MIA. Which is interesting (and convenient), but mostly interesting, because I thought Bill did that. Hm. I guess Hayley helped him first, and she may have done more than help him. Because for some (most likely) sexy reason, Tyler doesn't want Caroline to find out about Hayley. Which spells trouble, obviously, especially since Klaus wants yo girl, Ty Man! Say it with me friends: uh-oh.
Damon and Stefan are fighting. About their differences in methodology for teaching Elena vampirism; about the fact that Damon blood-shared with Stefan's girlfriend; and about the fact that they're still both in love with the same girl. Damon threatened me (he looked straight at me, he must know I exist) with the promise of leaving town. It was really scary, except I know it's not going to happen. Anyway, he tried to stick with MFell (I'm giving her a new nickname. Just go with it...), but she was all like: Make up with Stefan and Elena. I'm not going to be your new partner in vampire crime. How silly are you, Meredith! Why you be turnin' that offer down?
Connor threatened Matt with some serious force in the high school. It was too obvious that Matt was being a human blood bag because he always had intense bandages going on. So Connor ripped that thang off, revealing that the cut was actually a vamp bite, and made Matt reveal the source. To which he said: Rebekah.
Rebekah throws a rager. Elena got confused, though, because she started raging in an angered way, instead of in a party way. In fact, Elena's getting STEAMING MAD all the time, now, when it comes to Bex, because her emotions are all heightened and she's SO MAD at Rebekah for killing her and not being sorry about it and just being a RAGING (excuse my French) b----. I'm over the mean-girl power struggle: I say they just become BFFs. But more importantly, Connor somehow managed to put Tyler's jacked werewolf venom into the keg. So Bex and Elena started doing weird things. Oh, and apparently werewolf venom isn't just poison to vamps, it's a hallucinogenic. So Rebekah imagined an entire conversation with Matt (girl is almost pathetic in how much she likes him) and Elena interrupted her vampire sex with Stefan because she kept seeing Damon. Except, honey, I don't think that's just the venom, talking.
They are back in school. Biggest surprise of them all! I REALLY suspend belief with this one. Like, hasn't someone noticed that they haven't been to school in FOREVER? What are the authorities doing in Mystic Falls, besides poorly hunting the wrong vampires and promoting nonsense town-wide curfews?
Connor, again. Apparently, the reason Jeremy could see homeboy's invisible ink is because he's either a hunter or a potential hunter. So Connor, who should already have figured out that all of Jeremy's homies are vampires, tried to enlist him. Which was so stupid, as I just hinted at before. But I must be getting slow because I didn't instantly understand that Jeremy was trying to set Connor up with Damon's help. But unfortunately for them, Klaus saved him. Which nobody yet knows about.
Ugh, I hate that I'm giving Connor so much page time. But he's about to get important, or hopefully, interesting. Klaus saved him because he's "one of the five." Connor doesn't even know that he's "one of the five." What's the deal with these five fancy, infamous, important vampire hunters? What is their storied history? It is so something that Klaus saves him, because he thinks that he will be of more use to him alive than dead. Is he from some ancient coven of vampire hunters? Probably. If there are these mystical beings who are bad-ass vampire hunters, why was the historic Founders Council so bad at it? Now I want to know everything about the five. Because it's seeming like to me that Klaus thinks there's some way for Connor—since he's one of the five—to, like, make Elena human again, or something. I mean, it's probably not that, but there's some connection, because he said that Elena may be of some use to him, yet. That's why he saves her from the werewolf venom. Hybrid problems, man. #Hybridproblems.
Elena's kind of cool. She did a beautiful keg stand, she's getting nasty to Rebekah, and she stood up on the back of Stefan's motorcycle with this beautiful look of unsappy innocence, power and joy! It was so wonderful, and teenaged, and youthful, and fun! Whoopee!
April and Bex are now, like, friends. Mkay. Cool.
Damon offers to teach Elena how to be a vampire. And she accepted. This was after he reluctantly gave her a white oak stake to kill Rebekah, which Stefan stopped her from doing. Complications, though. These two are about to get...I don't know. But we'll see. Oh, yes. We will see.
How excited were you to meet Hayley? What happened with her and Tyler out in those dark, dark woods? Is Klaus going to succeed in stealing Caroline? Is sh-- gonna go down when Car finds out? What about next week's previews? Are problems on the way for Elena and Stefan? Because it looks like Damon and Elena are going on a college road trip, where frat party feeding and dancing will ensue. Can you not wait to find out more about Connor and the mythology of "the five"? What is Klaus up to, in regards to keeping Connor alive? Did you miss Bonnie? Are you sad that I didn't mention how wonderful Caroline was as an understanding ear to Stefan? (Gotcha! I just did.) Would you like to see MFell and Damon be partners in vampire crime? Are Rebekah and Matt going to get together? Is April really going to be social trouble for Elena, now that she and Bex are gonna be pals? Who knows? That's why I'm asking you. Although, if you watch the show (which you do, obviously) you can have a pretty good idea. So share said pretty good ideas. Comment below or tweet your hearts out! Do it! Or else. (And or else is an empty threat. It just means "or else I'll get bored." And you don't want that, right? Right??)
Переслать - Lea Michele Goes To Work In Her PJs
It's another "Glee"-less Thursday for us television watchers, but at least we have the Twitter accounts of our favorite current and former McKinley Highers to keep us company. Miss Lea Michele has been taking a break from NYADA to focus on her solo album, and she stepped into the studio today in the height of comfort.
The best thing about working in the recording studio is you can were PJs and you don't have to wear any makeup! lol
— Lea Michele (@msleamichele) October 25, 2012
If only we could wear our pajamas to the office! So jelly!
Though that request will likely never come through, we can take solace knowing that "Glee" returns on November 8 with the episode "The Role You Were Born To Play."
What say you, Gleeks? Are you going through Rachel Berry withdrawals? How are you passing the time until new episodes? Tell us everything in the comments and on Twitter!
Переслать - The Twi-Fight Saga: Page To Premiere's Kimmy West Picks Her Winner
MTV News' Twi-Fight Saga continues with round two, in which 32 of Stephenie Meyer's vampire, werewolves and humans will do battle for the title of No. 1 "Twilight" character. Each round a "Twilight" expert will weigh in on who she thinks will take the entire tournament. Today, Kimmy West of Page to Premiere shares her pick for victor.
I'm thinking that Edward Cullen is going to take the top spot in this contest because the fanbase of this series is nearly entirely female, and he's the character that girls have been dazzled by since the first film. Everyone is looking forward to seeing Robert Pattinson play the transformation of Edward from an angsty forever-teenager into a father! Personally, the part of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" I'm most excited to see is the relationship between Renesmee, Bella and Edward on screen. I think the mysterious and almost impossibly perfect character of Edward has been the main reason why this whole series has gotten as huge as it has, so I think he will also take the cake in this contest!
However, Bella is definitely going to be a very close second place. She goes through an insane character arc, which ends in this movie—from awkward and clumsy teenager into fierce vampire mother. She definitely gets a ton of action, and is the main protagonist, so I may be completely wrong about the audience's total obsession with the male characters over anything else. Who knows, maybe Kristen Stewart's legion of fans could have her overtake Edward for first place?
Jacob is loved by many, but I don't think he has the draw of the main husband-and-wife vampire duo. Also, since everyone has their eye on Renesmee, who only was glimpsed for a moment in "Part 1," the excitement of audiences to see more may bring her up near the main trio in the ranking.
Make sure to vote for your favorite "Twilight" character at twilight.mtv.com!

Переслать - Phoebe Tonkin Introduces 'Vampire Diaries' Fans To Her Character Hayley
A new werewolf is going to be coming to Mystic Falls tonight, and she's going to have a familiar face. "The Secret Circle" star Phoebe Tonkin is making her long-anticipated arrival on "The Vampire Diaries" tonight as a friend of Tyler's named Hayley.
In anticipation of tonight's episode, "The Rager," MTV News sat down with Phoebe to ask her about her character. We don't know much about Hayley going in—and no, she's not Faye Chamberlain in werewolf form—so we had Phoebe catch us up to speed on what role she'll play in Tyler's life and why she's come back into it.
"She is someone from Tyler's past that she met when he was breaking the sire bond and she was a big part of helping him do that," Phoebe said. "She's a world traveler. She lost her parents very young. She doesn't know who her parents are or where she got her werewolf gene from. Yeah, she's like an eclectic free spirit."
Sounds like she's exactly the type of person that Caroline won't want in Tyler's life. Fortunately for our favorite cross-species couple, it doesn't sound like Hayley's motives are to turn Tyler into her new boytoy. Phoebe told us that her character has headed to Mystic Falls on a more top-secret mission.
"Hayley may have a different motive for trying to help Tyler," she teased. "As I said, she lost her parents when she was very young, so she's got some questions that she wants answered."
"The Vampire Diaries" airs tonight at 8 p.m. on The CW.
