  • Video Premiere: Soft Swells, 'Summer Song'

Soft Swells sing one last summer anthem.

"I don't want this summer to ever end," Tim Williams sings in Soft Swells' "Summer Song." Well, if summer means jamming out on your enormous balcony by a sun-drenched Hollywood skyline, we wouldn't want it to end either. Tim probably has AC, too. Playing out like a love letter to laid-back afternoons, "Summer Song"'s video is prettier than your favorite Instagram filter: we see a lady friend in a vintage Guns N' Roses shirt (borrowed from Adam Sandler on the set of "The Wedding Singer"?!) sorting through vinyl records, reading a good book, sketching, and laying down some sweet bass lines, all without the help of socks. And then later without other apparel, though Soft Swells keep it PG. Best summer ever?

Watch Soft Swells' "Summer Song" video after the jump.

The track adds urgency to the video's calming visuals, its chugging guitars restrained by head nodding, drumming, and Williams' breezy vocals. And we're not through making comparisons: The song's mellowed-out vibe is like drinking the exact right amount of Intelligentsia coffee, and follows in the footsteps of like-minded mellow indie rockers Real Estate. Soft Swells' self-titled debut is out now on Modern Outsider, and we're going to go ahead and play it on loop by the pool pretending it's 90 degrees again and not...October. Indian summer, anyone?

  • New Video: Maximo Park, 'The Undercurrents'

Watch Maximo Park's new video for "The Undercurrents."

In their brand-new video for "The Undercurrents," British post-punk veterans Maximo Park swap a traditional stage for a makeshift one within a Berlin tram. (Cost efficient, AND eco-friendly!) In fact, they're the latest band to get creative in an unconventional space since the rise of video series like the Take-Away Shows and Black Cab Sessions, a trend that's definitely worth cheering for -- especially when it comes to the morning commute. Step up your game, L train!

Watch Maximo Park's "The Undercurrents" video after the jump.

Squeezed between the seats, the band delivers an, ahem, intimate performance shot in black-and-white footage. The slow-building song opens with glimmering guitar lines and a half-whispered vocal from singer Paul Smith, whose energy soars with the gravity of the simple yet loaded lyrics, "We both have a lot on our plate," before the tension bursts open on the major-key chorus, when Smith insists, "I won't forget love." I'm personally gutted, but at least I got a free subway performance without the subway smell!

"The Undercurrents" is the latest from The National Health, the band's fourth album, released in June on V2 Records.

  • New Song: Brandy, 'No Such Thing As Too Late'

Brandy is mad soulful in her latest jam "No Such Thing As Too Late."

Brandy's forthcoming album Two Eleven drops on Oct. 16, but that doesn't mean she can't throw her fans a few new songs to tide them over while they're waiting! We've already heard her Chris Brown-assisted "Put It Down," the sultry "Wildest Dreams," and today we get to dig into the Rico Love and the Jim Jonsin-produced track "No Such Thing As Too Late."

Listen to Brandy's "No Such Thing As Too Late" after the jump.

In her own words, Brandy said of the song: "It's a ballad, but it has a knock to it. Rico Love put his foot in this song. He put his heart and soul into it." In fact, Brandy is so obsessed with her new jam, she basically burst at the seems waiting to share it with all of her fans. Along with a link to the song, she tweeted: "I can't hold out any longer!!!" And we DEF get why. The sparse track on "No Such Thing As Too Late" showcases Brandy's lush vocals, yet still features sparkling production value. And if you're not keeping score, we'd like to remind you that every song we've heard off Two Eleven so far has been a total banger. And speaking of numbers, T-12 days till Oct. 16. (We know you counted, too.)

  • New Video: Thomas Fiss, 'Chasing Satellites'

Watch Thomas Fiss'  adorable "Chasing Satellites" video.

We once admitted that we had a teensy crush on singer Thomas Fiss, and guess what? We still do! Anyway, our crush began when we premiered Thomas' "Let Go" video and now we've got his brand-new "Chasing Satellites" on tap. Did we mention his face still looks great? And yeah, the song's a hit too. But the face!

Watch Thomas Fiss' "Chasing Satellites" video after the jump.

The perfect video to accompany his high-energy dance tune, "Chasing Satellites" has Thomas and his pals in an empty field playing instruments, running amuck, and dancing and twirling like intoxicated hippies the young and beautiful people they are. For most of the clip, Thomas strums his guitar while lots of pretty blonde girls dance around him in circles. Truth be told, the video kinda makes us think of any freewheeling Summer Of Love Scene from the '60s, and it also kinda sorta definitely reminds us of the field in Rihanna's We Found Love" video... minus the mud, drugs, and strangers. We guess what we're saying here is that if you're gonna act like a hippie, you should definitely look like Thomas and his pals while you're doing it.

  • New Video: Cher Lloyd Featuring Becky G, 'Oath'

Cher Lloyd is a beachside bestie in her new "Oath" video.

Remember when we told you guys about "Oath," Cher Lloyd's Becky G-assisted anthem for BFFs everywhere? Well, you better call your girlfriends because the video is officially out, and you're gonna wanna watch it together (preferably on the couch eating low-fat popcorn and giving each other facials). Just try not to feel jealous of the fact that all of Cher's BFFs just happen to be superbly dressed models-esque chicks. We're not actually sure if that would bode well for some female friendships (pretty girls -- who needs 'em?), but it's still the thought that counts.

Watch Cher Lloyd's "Oath" video after the jump.

The latest single off her brand-new Sticks + Stones disc, "Oath" begins with the "Want U Back" singer sitting in detention with her pals (hey, at least her friends are there, right?). Naturally, the ladies bust out and get into some PG-rated shenanigans, some of which include frolicking on a beach, goofing around in a Laundromat (because cute!), and, of course, shopping. Sure, maybe the plotline seems a liiiittle predictable and borderline "Clueless," but that's never a bad thing, and we still give props to Cher for putting her gals in the spotlight instead of a dude. You know what they say...chicks over...well, we'll let you finish that one on your own.

  • Miley Cyrus Covers Melanie Safka's 'Look What They've Done To My Song' (VIDEO)

Miley Cyrus nails her cover of Melanie Safka's "Look What They've Done To My Song."

Miley Cyrus sure has a penchant for singing in her backyard. But then again, why wouldn't she, considering she probably lives in a Nashville mansion? But that's not important here! What's important is that Miley has released another cover song from her "Backyard Sessions" series. Following her cover of Jeff Buckley's "Lilac Wine," the "Two And A Half Men" guest star has put her own spin on the Melanie Safka (of "Brand New Key" fame!!) classic "Look What They've Done To My Song," and it sounds GORG.

Watch Miley Cyrus' cover of "Look What They've Done To My Song" after the jump.

Accompanied by two acoustic guitars, Miley (who, by the way, shot this pre-haircut!!) confidently wails the words to the vintage hit: "Well, if the people are buying tears/ I'll be rich someday, Ma/ Look what they've done to my song." No disrespect to Miley's "Can't Be Tamed" era, but did anyone else hear that adorable country twang in her voice? Because we think that twang is just dyyyying to be fully realized in a country pop album. And yes, you can most definitely quote me on that.

  • Star Spotting: Katy Perry Is Proud To Be A Belieber! (PHOTO)

Oh, look! Katy Perry is a hard-core Belieber.

It's not like we thought Katy Perry DIDN'T love her some Justin Bieber (remember when this happened?), we just didn't think she loved him SO MUCH that she and her friends would all sport JB's signature purple hoodie at his concert last night. Yep, Katy Perry dressed up like Justin Bieber and it's not even Halloween.

Katy and her pals attended the four-time 2012 MTV EMA nominee's "Believe" tour stop in L.A. last night (sadly, they were not in attendance for puke-gate 2012), and as you can see by the purple explosion above, they were preeeeeetty excited to be at a Justin Bieber show. In fact, Katy was so proud of her color coordination that she proudly tweeted the photo out to all her Katycats along with the caption "WE ARE BELIEBERS!" Are you? We couldn't tell. But srsly, if Katy and The Biebs are so into each other, then you know what we're gonna say next: COLLABORATION TIME bb's!

  • Star Spotting: Katy Perry Goes Old Hollywood Glam For GHD (PHOTO)

Katy Perry looks old Hollywood glam in her GHD promotional photo.

Katy Perry has rocked every bright hue on the color wheel (see: here, here, and here), but THIS JUST IN: Katy looks epically FLAWLESS sporting a classic black-and-white look too! As the global ambassador for GHD hairstyling products, Katy makes it official in the above photo shoot, proving that she's the only person who could make us say "VA-VA-VOOM" in a nonironic way.

Shot by the famed fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth, the "Wide Awake" singer's GHD promotion is pretty much undeniable proof (like we need it!) that Katy Perry is the most photogenic person to ever walk the Earth (obvs). We're also thinking Katy and Rihanna must have planned to rock the old Hollywood glam motif together (probs on the phone in between chatting about the most kissable British boys and the world's best sushi places), 'cause this recent photo of Rih looks veryyy similar. Hey, BFFs like to do everything together! Now, excuse me while I book an appointment at my mall's cheap photo studio so I can continue pretending that I'm part of their Cool Kids club.

  • The Buzz On: Dude York

    Dude York

Dude York: Not just for dudes.

Seattle, Washington's Dude York might be the noisiest band in the Pacific Northwest -- or at least the fuzziest. But the D.I.Y. rock trio's lo-fi latest, "The Lake," sees them expanding their influences. Punchy opener "The Lake" kicks off with Ringo Starr drums before diving into a retro power-pop riff worthy of Nick Lowe or Thin Lizzy, while the incendiary "Dream King" sounds like the Strokes playing in a haunted house. Just in time for Halloween, you guys!

Listen to Dude York after the jump.

Lyrically the dudes (and dudette!) expound on relatable college kid blues: "I've been drinking coffee every time it's late," stretchy throated singer Peter Richards complains on "The Lake." The band's got a gift for big choruses, and if we can get him some frizzy hair and a closet of leopard-print shirts, Richards might just be our next Marc Bolan.

The band's chops are dead serious, though -- pop culture jokes regularly sneak in through titles like Escape From Dude York, the band's summer EP, and the macabre-movie referencing "The Assassination of Kurt Cobain by the Coward Dude York." (Pretty sure Kurt would've loved it.) The band has even scored next-big-thing kudos from Pitchfork and the NME, who called out the band's "hyperactive nature." Keep the coffee coming, dudes.

    + Listen to Dude York.
