- 'Good Day To Die Hard' Trailer Actually Kinda Looks Like 'Die Hard'
There are a few problems with "A Good Day to Die Hard." The issues with the name go without saying, but the first trailer gave us the feeling that the idiocy of "Live Free or Die Hard" would creep its way into a fifth installment of the series. It was all shooting, explosions, and Jai Courtney's head, which in theory could be worn by another human as a helmet.
Now a second trailer for "A Good Day to Die Hard" is online over at Yahoo! Movies UK & Ireland, but here's the thing: it actually kind of looks like a "Die Hard" movie. We know, impossible, but it's true.
The preview offers a good amount of set-up, even a glimpse of John McClane's daughter, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. It fleshes out the trailer beyond the "err.. Die Hard in Russia" vibe from the first.
Check it out and the new poster (via EW) after the jump!
Official synopsis:
Iconoclastic, take-no-prisoners cop John McClane, for the first time, finds himself on foreign soil after traveling to Moscow to help his wayward son Jack–unaware that Jack is really a highly-trained CIA operative out to stop a nuclear weapons heist. With the Russian underworld in pursuit, and battling a countdown to war, the two McClanes discover that their opposing methods make them unstoppable heroes.
"A Good Day to Die Hard" opens in theaters on February 14, just in time to really upset your girlfriend.

Переслать - Bradley Cooper Could Join Emma Stone In Cameron Crowe's Latest
Bradley Cooper is trading one hot young Hollywood leading lady for another. Following his stint in David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" opposite Jennifer Lawrence, Cooper is in talks to join Emma Stone in the new movie from Cameron Crowe.
The news comes from Deadline, along with the clarification that there's "no deal yet" but that there should be one soon. The site also says that this untitled project will have "a tone reminiscent" of "Almost Famous" and "Jerry Maguire."
Meanwhile, /Film is reporting that the project could be called "Deep Tiki," the name used for the film when it was first announced four years ago. The casting of Cooper would align with the released plot of the film at that time. It reads:
A 37-year-old disgraced US weapons consultant named Brian Gilcrest is disliked by most everyone. His only friend is a techie named Jeremy "a super-smart and highly aware computer". As a response to aggression from China, Gilcrest is deployed to a dormant military base in Hawaii to supervise the launch of an advanced spy satellite. Together with the anal and humorless Major Lisa Ng, he must secure the blessings of the native Hawaiian council before the launch. Gilcrest also gets a chance to meet with Tracy, the one love of his life who got away, along with her husband and two kids. On the island he discovers himself.
Crowe is expected to start filming this movie in the spring, and The Playlist previously reported the movie could hit theaters in 2014.

Переслать - Our Three Favorite Fictional Presidential Candidates
By Colin Greten
The presidential election is almost upon us. After all the debates and commercials, it is finally time for America to make its decision. We, of course, live in a society with a two party system, where one's vote will likely be either for Barack Obama or Mitt Romney. But where's the fun in that? Instead of limiting it to these two candidates, here are three movie presidents that would receive my vote on November 6th.
President Thomas J. Whitmore - Bill Pullman ("Independence Day")
Pros:
-President Whitmore (Pullman) was able to get America and the rest of the world through a seemingly impossible-to-overcome alien invasion.
-Already a war-hero, Whitmore risked his life to lead the undermanned and under qualified group of pilots to a victory over the ruthless aliens
-His hair is extremely presidential (an underrated quality)
-Whitmore's speech towards the end of the film puts any Obama speech to shame in sheer goosebump-inducing powerCons:
-He waited too long to evacuate the cities, leading to millions of American causalities
-He's too reckless: lets off an ill-advised nuclear bomb in Houston, leads battle with the aliens himself, does not leave the soon-to-be-blown-up White House until the very last minute.President Tom Beck - Morgan Freeman ("Deep Impact")
Pros:
-Broke through the racial barrier long before Obama
-Kept the countries spirits up in the face of a 7 mile wide comet headed directly for Earth.
-His speech after the crisis has been for the most part averted rivals the Gettysburg address as he urges the nation to commit to the long process of recovery
-He's Morgan Freeman. If he says anything, people listen.Cons:
-Nearly all of his plans to destroy the comet fail, as a suicide mission saves the day
-The underground shelters built to help save Americans only hold one million people, not nearly enough.President James Marshall - Harrison Ford ("Air Force One")
Pros:
-Refused to leave Air Force One in an escape pod without his family even after terrorists hijack the plane
-Did not need the help of Secret Service. He can protect himself as he takes back control of the plane.
-As a retired pilot and war-hero, he can fly Air Force One in any crisis situation
-Refused to negotiate with terrorists, something that presidents always refuse to doCons:
-Did not give a memorable speech, did tell Gary Oldman exactly what he wants him to do:-Han Solo has too many prior offenses to be president
Each of these candidates stayed strong in the face of imminent death and made it through, saving not only themselves but America in the process. Unfortunately, we cannot see a debate, but I'm sure Freeman's President Beck would knock Ford's President Marshall weak foreign policy. The choice on November 6th is between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, but there's always the write in, right?
Переслать - 'Gravity' Still Exists, Will Be Rated PG-13
Remember "Gravity"? That ambitious Alfonso Cuaron movie set in outer space that took years to make? We barely did either, but now we have news that the movie has received an MPAA rating, which means it's likely near completion.
"Gravity" lost its November release date back in May and was then moved back to 2013. Warner Bros. hasn't given the project a new premiere date yet, but at least the movie seems like it might actually be ready for next year. The MPAA recently gave the flick a PG-13 rating, and click on after the jump to find out why.
Ropes of Silicon reports that "Gravity" earned its rating for "intense perilous sequences, some disturbing images and brief strong language." Typically a PG-13 rating for an adult film like this would make us cautious, but we're not too concerned with "Gravity." Like "2001: A Space Odyssey" before it, "Gravity" seems to be more about exploring the psychological effects of being in outer space than being loaded with brutality, nudity or bad language.
"Gravity" stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, though much of the movie is supposed to feature Bullock on her own. Bullock's character, Dr. Ryan Stone, is on her first shuttle mission in space with Clooney's veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky. During a routine spacewalk, disaster strikes and their shuttle is destroyed. They are then left stranded in the middle of space tied to one another.
From what we've heard from Guillermo del Toro in the past, Cuaron tried some exciting new camera techniques in "Gravity" to give outer space a sense of enormity. We're glad that he seems to be close to finishing this movie, because it's definitely high on our list of films we're excited to see.

Переслать - Ryan Gosling Dashes Away From 'Logan's Run'
Breakups are never easy. That's why we're hoping that Ryan Gosling leaving Warner Bros' adaptation of "Logan's Run" doesn't mean the end of his collaborations with director Nicolas Winding Refn.
Variety's Justin Kroll tweeted out yesterday that the star had severed ties to the sci-fi film.
"Rough news for those LOGAN'S RUN fans, I can confirm Ryan Gosling is no longer attached to the project," he wrote.
"Logan's Run" was set to be the third collaboration for Gosling and Refn, who had previously worked on "Drive" and the yet-to-be-released "Only God Forgives." For a while, the two were looking like best buds, set on making visual, violent films together forever, but that sadly seems like it's not the case.
While Kroll's tweet didn't precede a full article on the news, The Playlist had a number of well-reasoned theories for why Gosling walked away. As this would be a rather high-profile adaptation for Warner Bros., Gosling may not be the bankable star all the girls on tumblr assume he is. He has yet to lead a tentpole film and hasn't proven himself as a big box office draw.
Gosling's directorial debut, "How to Catch a Monster," may be the most realistic explanation. Since he is just beginning to get that production off the ground, Gosling will be finding himself very busy for the next year or so.
As disappointing as the "Logan's Run" news may be for "Drive" fans, there is still "Only God Forgives" to look forward to. That film should pop up sometime next year, perhaps during the spring film festivals.
Переслать - 'Mass Effect' Movie Is One Step Closer To Actually Happening
With the recent news of "Metal Gear Solid" and Michael Fassbender's looking-like-it-will-happen take on "Assassin's Creed," we could be entering into a new era of video game adaptations. Now another piece of news is sure to get gamers pumped for big screen potential.
Variety is reporting that the "Mass Effect" adaptation, being produced by Legendary Entertainment has brought on a new writer to take a crack at scripting the sci-fi epic. Morgan Davis Foehl will write a second version, after Mark Protosevich, who wrote "Thor and "I Am Legend," made a first attempt.
While Foehl has never had a script produced, he has previously landed on the Black List, the highly regarded list of unproduced scripts. Foehl apparently has experience writing sci-fi, especially with an espionage twist.
For those unfamiliar with the series, "Mass Effect" is a massively popular franchise of sci-fi shooters. It tells the story of Commander Shepard, a military officer who must combat the Reapers, an ancient race of alien beings that bring a wave of destruction to the galaxy every 50 thousand years.
We'll have to wait a little while longer before we get any solid update on a potential "Mass Effect" film. For now, just keep your fingers crossed and hope that we may finally get a series of good video game adaptations. Yes, we're looking in your direction "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time."

Переслать - 'Wreck-It Ralph' Featurettes Go Behind The Screen
We're a little more than a week away from Disney's journey into the heart of video games, "Wreck-It Ralph," and if the early reactions to the animated movie are any indication, it's time to get excited.
Two new featurettes take a look behind the scenes of the movie, speaking with the cast and the director. They're a cool insight into the world behind the movie and the thought that went into them.
Check out the featurettes after the jump!
Official synopsis:
Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly, "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," "Step Brothers") is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer, "30 Rock"), the "good guy" star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing andseeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he's tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he's got what it takes to be a hero.
"Wreck-It Ralph" opens on November 2.
Переслать - Find Out How Long 'The Hobbit' Will Be
We now know exactly how long our first trip back to Middle-earth will last. In the latest issue of Empire (you can one of the five covers above), Peter Jackson confirmed the running time of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," a breezy 2 hours and 40 minutes.
"It's looking like it's going to be about ten minutes shorter than Fellowship was," Jackson said. "So it's going to be officially our shortest Middle-earth yet. I mean, Fellowship was just under three hours and this is about 2 hours 40 minutes at the moment."
That's a whopping 160 minutes, nothing for a Jackson-directed film with hobbits in it, but surprisingly long for just one installment of a thinly stretch trilogy.
But hey, we're not complaining. Especially when the new TV spot, which you can watch after the jump, looks this good!
"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" opens on December 14.
Is that too long for a "Hobbit" movie? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter!

Review:
Though it's not without its merits, "Die Another Day" is the movie you reboot a series after. Bond had grown bloated, both structurally and physically in the case of Pierce Brosnan, who makes the transfer to fatherly here. (Bond should never be described at Dad-like.) There is too much CGI. The gadgets are over-the-top, and there's one too many electric-powered villains. When Madonna is allowed a cameo with lines, something has gone terribly, terribly wrong.Over the course of Brosnan's four films, the tone of the series shifted drastically from a combination of the dry wit from Connery's era and the earnestness of Dalton to the excess of late Moore. The shift came fast and left Bond without a real purpose or direction. Who is this guy supposed to be? Is he the man who sacrifice's his friends life for the mission or the one para-surfing in the arctic?
On its own, "Die Another Day" does nothing sacrilegious to the overall health of the franchise. Berry, while weak here, is an improvement over Denise Richards, and the gadgets are fun, as always. But where else does the series go after this other than square one?
Also, what was up with that Moneypenny virtual reality scene? It comes out of absolutely nowhere, adding nothing to the story other than a creepy after taste.
The Bond-a-Thond will return next week in "Casino Royale."

Переслать - 'Evil Dead' Red Band Trailer Will Gross You Out
A week and a half ago, Bruce Campbell, Jane Levy, and director Fede Alvarez presented a short, gruesome, R-rated trailer for their remake of Sam Raimi's classic "Evil Dead." While that footage wasn't available to the public, the cheers from NYCC could be heard on all corners of the web.
That footage is now available to gross you out as you watch through your barely covered eyes.
This "Evil Dead" is grisly, dark, modern and dead serious. The first trailer sets up the familiar story of friends going into the woods, finding the Necronomicon, and unleashing hell, but what we weren't expecting was the sure-to-be-talked-about moment at the end. (Yes, that thing with the tongue.)
Watch the very NSFW trailer after the jump!
"Evil Dead" opens in the Spring of 2013.
