  • Exclusive: Drake Did 'Nothing Wrong' In Club Brawl, Birdman Says

'He's not a reckless guy out there just wildin' out,' Cash Money CEO tells MTV News after Drizzy's altercation with Chris Brown.

    Photo:

ATLANTA — No matter the drama, Cash Money CEO Bryan "Birdman" Williams is riding with his artists. Never one to indulge in rap beef, on Friday (June 15) during an interview with MTV News, Stunna made it clear that he is in full support of Drake in the aftermath of Wednesday night's brawl in a New York City nightclub that involved Chris Brown and members of their respective crews.

"Well, to me, I think n---as got Drake twisted. A lot of n---as be playin', pitty-pattin' with Drake. I don't like that sh--, period," Birdman said to us in an exclusive interview. "Drake is one of us, so if you f---in' with Drake, you f---in' with us, period!"

Birdman wasn't in attendance when the fight broke out at W.I.P. in NYC, but firmly believes the Take Care MC did nothing wrong. Drake alleges he wasn't involved in the melee, which left a number of people injured including one of Brown's bodyguards and NBA player Tony Parker. "To me, Drizzy ain't did nothin' wrong, he ain't done nothin' wrong to nobody. He just doin' great music," Bird said in defense of his artist. "He's not a reckless guy out there just wildin' out; he's a humble kid makin' great music."

It's no secret that the #1 Stunna is about his money, and to him, beef is bad for business. "We never been a brand to carry ourselves in any foul manner. None of us, none of the acts," he said of his Cash Money roster. "We've been doin' this, we want to do this for another 20 years."

Still, the CM CEO understands how quickly things can get out of hand. He recalls a time where shootings weren't uncommon between warring factions but now sees those types of altercations as a thing of the past. "It's a different era, and we don't promote that, we're not about that, but I think sometimes sh-- get outta hand, and you just gotta be ready for it," he said. "We did enough of that, so these n---as ain't got to do it."

  • Chris Brown And Drake Brawl: Club Manager Arrested

Jonathan Cantor is being held on unrelated charges.
    By Kara Warner

    Photo:

The drama surrounding the Chris Brown and Drake dustup at an NYC nightclub on Wednesday continues, although this time, the club's manager is in hot water.

According to CBS News, Jonathan Cantor — the manager of W.I.P., the SoHo club where the altercation between Brown's and Drake's crews took place — has been arrested on unrelated charges. Cantor was reportedly brought in to New York's 1st Precinct police station at about 2 a.m. Friday (June 15) after local authorities responded to noise complaints. Cantor was not held because of the noise violations, but because he had two outstanding arrest warrants against him.

Police officers were reportedly at the club conducting a routine business inspection. Cantor was issued two summons after he was found to be in violation of the fire code and against alcohol beverage control.

The club manager was arrested days after his establishment made headlines due to a violent brawl that broke out between Chris Brown and Drake's entourages. Though rumors regarding the cause of the fight pinpointed the two musicians' beef over Rihanna, new details emerged Thursday that the scuffle erupted out of trash talking between Brown and rapper Meek Mill, who was sitting at Drake's table.

The "Take Care" singer alleges that he wasn't involved because he was exiting the club at the time the fight broke out. Five people were injured in the brawl before the New York City Police Department was called in. TMZ reported that Brown and Drake were not at the club when police arrived; no arrests were made.

  • Justin Bieber Shows 'Romantic' Side On 'Today' Show, Fans Rave

'We saw his face — his actual personal face,' one fans gushes to MTV News after Beliebers camped out for days before the set.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Stacey Sommer

    Justin Bieber performs on "Today"
    Photo:

Thousands of Justin Bieber fans waited out in the rain, cold, heat and sun for days prior to his "Today" show appearance on Friday (June 15) to catch a glimpse of the singer. And when Bieber finally took the stage during the morning show, he didn't disappoint.

"The performance was amazing," Lacey told MTV News. "We saw his face — his actual personal face.

"His new album is definitely his best. He sounds more mature," she said, before adding that a true Belieber is "someone who would be willing to drive four hours after working an eight-hour shift to catch a mere glimpse of him."

Bieber not only dazzled the crowd with older hits like "Baby" and new cuts off his June 19 release, he also brought rapper Big Sean out to the stage to add a little edge to their new song "As Long as You Love Me."

But that surprise guest was only one of the many moments that had fans swooning. Julieta said, "My favorite part of the concert was when he sang 'Die in Your Arms,' because he just showed the romantic side of him."

While Julieta liked the set most when Bieber kicked it new school, another fan, Kim, enjoyed hearing Bieber pull out one of his My World standards. "I really liked when he sang 'Baby' because it just kind of brought back old times," she said. "And it was cool: My favorite song is 'All Around the World' cause it's really upbeat and catchy."

Bieber drops his new album, Believe, on Tuesday. He's also set to hit the road for a tour later this year. And if the TV performance was any indication of what the tour will be like, his fans should be stoked.

"He was jumping up and down and he was dancing," Grace said of Friday's set. "And it just made the crowd more excited."

  • Lindsay Lohan's Crazy Week: Car Crash, Porn Star And Paramedics

We take a look back at a hectic seven days for the actress.
    By James Montgomery

Lindsay Lohan leaves the hospital after her car accident on June 8
    Photo:

If your week involved smashing a Porsche into an 18-wheeler, being linked in headlines to a porn star, and having the paramedics called to your hotel room, there's a pretty good chance you are probably James Bond. Or Lindsay Lohan.

Of course, one of those folks is fictional. The other is very much real — and just had a really crazy week. Yes, the Lind-sanity is still with us, as the actress wrapped an impressive seven-day stretch that began with a car wreck (and hospitalization), rolled right on with some salacious headlines and wrapped with some drama at the Ritz-Carlton (and a rumored hospitalization).

Here's a look back at Lindsay Lohan's rather hectic week, one that would give any mere mortal (or secret agent) pause. But not her.

Friday, June 8: Lohan is taken to the hospital after smashing her Porsche into an 18-wheeler on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica. Luckily, she wasn't seriously injured — though the same couldn't be said for her vehicle, as photos showed the Porsche with a severely damaged front end, a smashed windshield and a deployed airbag.

Monday, June 11: Reports surface that Lohan may have lied to police about just who was driving the car. She had originally told responding officers she was sitting in the passenger seat, with her assistant behind the wheel, which supposedly didn't corroborate with the story her assistant told police. Uh-oh.

Tuesday, June 12: Lohan's name is attached to "The Canyons," a Hollywood drama from writer Bret Easton Ellis that will also feature adult-film star James Deen. Lohan will reportedly play Tara, girlfriend to Deen's Christian, a "trust fund kid, power player and major manipulator, who is a film producer that enjoys filming his own three-way sex sessions."

Thursday, June 14: "The Canyons" producer Braxton Pope acknowledges Lindsay's reputation to MTV News, saying, "What's kind of lost in a lot of the Lindsay discussions is the fact that Lindsay is a very talented actress. She's very charismatic and she has a lot of acting skills. So her lifestyle and some of the things that she's gone through have tended to kind of overwhelm the fact, but Lindsay has kind of real talent. So for this part, we felt that she was really the right actor for a host of different reasons."

Friday, June 15: A California news station erroneously reports that Lohan had been taken to the hospital after being found unconscious in a hotel room. While paramedics had been called to her penthouse at the Ritz-Carlton, they left the scene without the actress, and her reps insisted that all she was suffering from was "exhaustion and dehydration" and said Lohan was actually napping after a grueling stretch of shooting the upcoming Lifetime movie "Liz & Dick."

  • Kendrick Lamar Brings Some 'California Love' To 'The Recipe' Video

'There hasn't been that 'California Love'-type feel since the '90s and I wanted to ... represent where I'm from,' K. Dot tells MTV News.
    By Nadeska Alexis

    Kendrick Lamar
    Photo:

The lead single from Kendrick Lamar's major-label debut, "The Recipe," includes a feature from his mentor Dr. Dre. And when the video for the Good Kid in a Mad City track drops, the Compton native will be giving the world a taste of his own brand of "California Love."

Kendrick filmed his video for "The Recipe" at a mansion in the Los Angeles last month, and after performing the single at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Tennessee last week, he explained his vision behind the clip.

"I felt like there hasn't been that 'California Love'-type feel since the '90s, and I really wanted to display that and represent where I'm from," he told MTV News. "So I had a whole bunch of beautiful women, good weather — it was like 85 degrees and breezy — and we had [ScHoolboy] Q up in there stealing some of Snoop's weed, him and Ab-Soul, and we had fun."

If Kendrick is hoping to tap into the nostalgia of Tupac's infamous 1995 track "California Love," it helps that he's got two of the original California legends in his corner: Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. "The Recipe" will boast his most extravagant visuals to date, and the 25-year-old rap prodigy is ready to take his career to another level.

"We're here to spread this music all across the world," he said. "It started in my backyard, in Compton, and now I'm fittin' to take it to the next level and take it worldwide because I feel like the world needs to hear this. I've been ready for a long time."

Fun fact: When the song debuted, Dr. Dre revealed that it once had a more straightforward title, telling Big Boy on L.A.'s Power 106 morning show, "The original title was 'Women, Weed and Weather.' That's what represents L.A."

  • Drake Vows To Outdo Summer Jam At New York Show

'They f---ed up Summer Jam, so I'm just gonna do Summer Jam how it's supposed to go,' Drizzy tells Scoob Doo about Club Paradise Tour stop.
    By Nadeska Alexis

    Photo:

Drake and Nicki Minaj have been making controversial headlines following a club brawl and a canceled Summer Jam performance, respectively, but when Drake's Club Paradise Tour touches down in New York on Saturday, Team YMCMB will be back in full force, minus the controversy.

On Wednesday night, Drake visited Sin City Cabaret in the Bronx, New York, for Maybach Music Group's Self Made Vol. 2 listening session, after which he revealed exclusively to DJ Scoob Doo's new website BreadOverBed that he had a few surprises in store for his New York show.

"They f---ed up Summer Jam, so I'm just gonna do Summer Jam how it's supposed to go," Drake told Scoob, referencing Lil Wayne's decision to pull Young Money out of the show's lineup after offensive remarks were directed toward Nicki Minaj. "I've got everyone you would want to see, plus people that you wouldn't expect to see."

Thus far, Drake's tour roster includes Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, J. Cole, Waka Flocka Flame and French Montana, not to mention guest appearances from T.I., Rick Ross and Future, so it seems likely that additional members from his YMCMB family will join him on the bill Saturday.

During a heated radio interview with Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex following her canceled Summer Jam set, Minaj promised fans that she would do a free show in New York to make up for the disappointment. Could an appearance at Drake's show be on her agenda as well? Before Minaj and crew pulled out of the lineup, Lil Wayne was rumored to be one of her guests, along with surprise appearances from Nas and Lauryn Hill.

As Drake gears up for his concert, he's still dealing with some fallout from a club brawl with Chris Brown in New York on Wednesday night, but the show must go on. Stayed tuned to MTV News and RapFix.MTV.com for continued coverage on Drake's Club Paradise Tour.

  • Chris Brown/ Drake Fight: Police Reviewing Video

Brown reportedly needed eight stitches to close up his wounds.
    By Gil Kaufman

    Chris Brown
    Photo:

A spokesperson for the New York nightclub W.i.P. told MTV News on Friday (June 15) that club management had turned over to police investigators video footage of the melee between the entourages of Chris Brown and Drake. An NYPD spokesperson confirmed that the videotape had been turned over and that police were reviewing it as part of their investigation.

At press time the police would not give any further details about the findings, but TMZ reported earlier in the day that Brown had given a statement to police and that his lawyer had handed over unspecified "physical evidence" that allegedly implicates Drake in the fight. Drake's reps had also reportedly spoken to investigators, but the NYPD spokesperson declined to specify who had come forward so far, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.

The W.i.P spokesperson also cautioned that a widely circulated video labeled as footage of the fight is actually an unrelated clip shot in a different club in New Jersey.

And while some sources have claimed that the fight was not over the men's mutual history with Rihanna, an unnamed source told Us Magazine that the "We Found Love" singer "loves" the suggestion that she was the cause. "Men fighting over her? Are you kidding? Of course. [She] loves the drama," the source said.

Radar Online reported on Friday (June 15) that Rihanna consoled Brown on Thursday night at Jay-Z's 40/40 club in New York all night and, "it was clear that she loved the attention he was giving her ... those two have a thing for each other that will never die, no matter what, and they're on their way to really being back together. Chris just adores her. And she tended to him, making sure the gash on his chin from the fight was OK."

The site also reported that Brown needed eight stitches to close up the wound on his chin and had to get a tetanus shot as well. His bodyguard, Big Pat, reportedly needed 20 stitches to close up the wound on his head and also received a tetanus shot, while Brown's girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, sustained minor cuts and had some glass fragments removed from her skin.

TMZ added that NBA player Tony Parker suffered a serious eye injury during the bottle blitz. "I was there with a bunch of friends when the fight broke out," he said. "They started to throw bottles about. I got it all .. the cornea has been touched. I can't do anything for seven days. But I was lucky. The injury won't prevent me from competing in the Olympics in any way." The star San Antonio Spurs point guard will represent his native France in the summer games.

A person who was reportedly at the club on the night of the melee said it was sparked when a member of Drake's entourage threw a bottle at Brown's crew, but that "Chris and Drake never got in each other's faces ... it was entourage versus entourage, never Drake versus Chris."

Nobody seems to want to go on the record, but several anonymous witnesses also reportedly told TMZ that a member of Brown's 16-member crew, "was throwing gang signs and screaming at Drake's table." Witnesses pegged that dreadlocked man as the "primary instigator" of the brawl, claiming he verbally taunted Drake's table and yelled out, "somebody's gonna die." He also later allegedly threatened rapper Meek Mill, saying, "F--- you, we're gonna kill you n---a." As this was going on, Brown is reported to have stood up and embraced the dreadlocked friend.

If the purported gang signs were indeed thrown and are on the videotape being reviewed by police, TMZ reported that it could spell trouble for Brown, whose five years of probation from his felony assault conviction on Rihanna stipulates that he cannot associate with gang members.

In another bit of potential fall-out from the scuffle, TMZ noted that the New York City Council is holding an emergency meeting with nightclub owners to discuss whether bottle service policies should be changed in the wake of the fight.

"I am deeply concerned by reports of the bottle throwing melee that injured more than five people in SoHo this week," said City Council speaker Christine Quinn in a statement. "That is why I have immediately convened an emergency meeting next week between my office, the NYPD, and the nightlife industry ... The purpose of this meeting is to send a clear message to all nightclub patrons that bottles cannot be used as weapons and to determine if the guidelines surrounding bottle service need to be updated or reworked."

A number of photos have been posted online showing the purported aftermath of the bottle blitz, depicting the floor of the club awash in broken glass.

  • Lindsay Lohan 'Fine' After Paramedic Scare

Early reports say the actress was taken to the hospital, though her publicist tells MTV News she was just taking 'a nap.'
    By James Montgomery

    Lindsay Lohan
    Photo:

Just another day in the life of Lindsay Lohan: On Friday afternoon (June 15), California station KABC broke news that the oft-troubled actress was taken to the hospital after being found unconscious in a Marina del Rey, California, hotel room and that her condition "was currently unknown."

According to the report, the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a 911 call at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel after Lohan — in Marina del Rey to film the Lifetime Original movie "Liz & Dick" — was found unconscious in the penthouse. KABC ended the story by promising "we will add more details to this report as they become available."

Of course, those details might be difficult to come by. Because right around the time KABC's report was making the rounds, TMZ jumped into the fray, breaking news that, while paramedics did respond to a 911 call at the hotel, Lohan was never taken to the hospital.

"Paramedics ... determined nothing was wrong with Lindsay [and] left without transporting her to the hospital," the TMZ story said. "Lindsay wasn't feeling well after complaining of exhaustion. She called someone from the 'Liz & Dick' production team early this morning, and the team sent a private doctor to check on her.

"Before arriving, the doctor called the hotel and asked someone to check on Lindsay," the report continued. "Someone from the hotel went to her door, 'checked on her' and determined she was 'unresponsive.' The hotel then called 911."

KABC subsequently updated its story to include a comment from Lohan's attorney, who let it be known that the actress was, in fact, "fine."

"As I understand it, she was exhausted after shooting non-stop for two days," Shawn Holley told the station. "Someone called paramedics, for reasons which are unclear. They determined that she was fine."

"She's OK," Dina Lohan told the Huffington Post. "She was working through the night and wrapped at 6:15 this morning. She's home now sleeping. She's doing a great job."

Lohan's publicist, Steve Honig, echoed those sentiments, telling MTV News in a statement: "Lindsay worked a grueling schedule for the past few days ... [and] took a nap before shooting her final scene. Producers were concerned when she did not come out of her room and called paramedics as a precaution."

Honig added that the actress was suffering from "some exhaustion and dehydration" and said she'd return to the "Liz & Dick" set later Friday

  • 'Prometheus' Dictionary: Translations For Earth-Dwellers

If you're gearing up to see Ridley Scott's sci-fi flick for the first time, make sure you're well-versed in its extraterrestrial lingo.
    By Kevin P. Sullivan

    Michael Fassbender in "Prometheus"
    Photo:

If you're headed out to theaters this weekend to see Ridley Scott's "Prometheus," there are two likely explanations: You've been hounded by your friends who have already seen it with theories and a need for discussion or you're one of those friends and need to see it again.

Either way, "Prometheus" is a dense movie filled with symbolism, call-backs to the original "Alien," and mysteries with elliptical answers, so it might be best to go into the theater with a bit of a primer for what's about to happen.

Whether you're new to "Prometheus" or you're very familiar with the work of Weyland Industries, here are some things to consider before heading into the theater. There are no major spoilers here, but if you want to go into "Prometheus" completely fresh, you should probably stop reading.

Prometheus: The titan who molded man from clay and gave them fire, which he stole from the gods. As punishment, an eagle repeatedly ate his liver, which regenerated daily.

Weyland Industries: The corporation that funds the mission in "Prometheus," creators of the David 8 android, and antecedent to the Weyland-Yutani Corporation from the "Alien" films.

Peter Weyland: Founder of Weyland Industries, played by Guy Pearce.

David 8: An android programmed to assist human life and understand human emotions. He is played by Michael Fassbender in "Prometheus."

Xenomorph: This classic creature from "Alien" bleeds a corrosive acid. It is "a survivor... unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality." The perfect organism.

Space Jockey: An enormous, dead humanoid found at the beginning of "Alien" with his chest burst open, surrounded by xenomorph eggs.

Facehugger: A developmental stage of the classic "Alien" xenomorph. This creature attaches itself to a host's face and deposits an embryo in his or her stomach.

Chestburster: The phase after facehugger. Once an embryo fully develops, it will exit its host through the abdomen.

"Lawrence of Arabia": The 1962 David Lean film starring Peter O'Toole as T.E. Lawrence. This film appears in "Prometheus" and is the origin of such quotes as "Big things have small beginnings," "There is nothing in the desert and no man needs nothing," and "The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts."

LV223: An Earth-like moon where scientists travel to in "Prometheus" after finding star maps on several prehistoric drawings.

LV426: An inhospitable planetoid where the crew of the Nostromo encounter the Space Jockey and the xenomorph eggs.

Check out everything we've got on "Prometheus."

  • Kim Kardashian 'Loves' That Kanye West Is Older

'The people that I love to just sit and talk to and spend my time with are wiser, a little bit older than me,' Kim tells Oprah Winfrey.
    By Christina Garibaldi

Kim Kardashian on "Oprah's Next Chapter"
    Photo:

Kim Kardashian was ready to talk, and Oprah Winfrey was there to listen.

In an excerpt from "Oprah's Next Chapter," the talk-show host sat down with the entire Kardashian family, including a one-on-one interview with Kim, and asked the question that seemed to be on everyone's mind: What really went wrong in her brief marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries?

While we'll have to wait until Sunday to get Kim's full side of the story on OWN, we are getting a sneak peek. In a video posted on Ryan Seacrest's website, we are getting our first glimpse of Oprah's sit-down with Kim. The reality star, who is currently dating Kanye West, revealed to Oprah she's now very much into dating older men.

"Even the people I surround myself with, a lot of my friends, the people that I love to just sit and talk to and spend my time with, are wiser, a little bit older than me, where all my boyfriends were younger. I always dated five years younger. My whole thing was completely different, and now I just love that I'm with someone that's a couple years older than me," Kim said of West, who is more than three years older than her. "I love that my friends are even sometimes 20, 30 years older than me, that I can just sit and enjoy their company and their experiences."

Kim also admits that she learned a lot from her very public and messy divorce but feels that the experiences she has had over the past year have changed her for the better.

"It's like how Kourtney had this epiphany when she had the baby and she changed into a different person, I feel like I've had an epiphany over the last year," Kim said. "For what I've been through and I am that changed person, just from my own experiences."

The clip also includes Oprah's interviews with all the Kardashian siblings — Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Rob — and puts the foursome on the spot, asking if they felt they could have received this amount of fame if they weren't attractive.

"I don't think it would have happened if we were all skinny pretty models. I think it has to do with us, the curves, the dark hair — I think it was a combination," Kim said. "I remember when the wave of Jennifer Lopez, Salma Hayek and these beautiful Hispanic women came into light, and I looked up to them and I loved them, but I was like, 'Where are Middle Eastern women?' I think we took that category or helped broaden that."

  • Justin Bieber Brings Out Big Sean For 'Today' Show Performance

'I've been working hard and I'm confident in the album,' the singer tells Matt Lauer of Believe, which drops Tuesday.
    By Jocelyn Vena

    Justin Bieber
    Photo:

Some Fridays in June are simply dubbed "summer Fridays," but this one in particular was a very special "Justin Bieber summer Friday." Bieber kicked off his electrifying performance on the "Today" show with "Boyfriend," the funky lead single off his new album, Believe.

From there he popped, locked and sang his way through his catalogue of tracks, some from his June 19 album release and some from his past albums. He brought the energy for his My World track "Baby" (even rapping his way through Ludacris' part), but he brought out Big Sean to rap alongside him on "As Long as You Love Me." He had recently teased on Twitter that he had plans to bring out a special guest.

"Make some noise for the legendary, one-and-only Justin Bieber," Sean told the audience after they wrapped up. As for Bieber, well, he only had eyes for his fans. "I want to say thank you guys so much for waiting. I really appreciate it," he told the crowd.

Justin's fans camp out in the rain for three days!

Bieber also performed "All Around the World," but in between songs, he met fans and chatted with them about their signs. He even picked a fan whose sign he liked best and gave her tickets to his upcoming tour.

"I'm really excited to be able to travel the world again and see all my fans. ... Everyone, they got to believe," he said of the trek.

Before he took the stage at Rockefeller Plaza, Bieber sat down with Matt Lauer and opened up about making a mature album.

"At the end of the day, it is [a lot of pressure]. I'm 18 and I have a lot of insecurities, and at the end of the day, me being in my position, it doesn't, like, get rid of those insecurities," he said.

"And so coming out with this album, I know I've been working hard on it and I know I've been doing well, so I'm confident in the album. But, you know, it's coming out in two days.

"But I think it's about proving people wrong," he added. "And going out and making good music and going out there and performing better than everyone else, and that's what you have to do to cross over.

Otherwise I'm going to be another teen heartthrob. I want to be remembered."

Recently, his manager, Scooter Braun, said that despite being legal, Bieber will still get a lot of guidance. That doesn't seem to be something that the singer minds. "I think that I'm at a place. I'm 18. I'm still growing up. I'm still learning about different things: girls, my music," he said. "So I'm not all the way there, but I'm at a stage where I'm growing and my fans are growing with me and I want to make music that reflects that."

  • Father's Day: A Pop-Culture Gift Guide

To help you show your appreciation for dad, MTV News compiles a list of must-have items.
    By James Montgomery

"Game of Thrones" season one on Blu-ray
    Photo:

Provided your dad didn't go out for cigarettes and never came back, you'll be celebrating him and all his paternal excellence on Sunday, which — in case you forgot — just so happens to be the 102nd (or so) Father's Day.

And while we here at MTV News would like to point out that you should probably honor your father every day (after all, who else can teach you about the infield fly rule, the double Windsor knot and the rhythm method?), we realize that, more often than not, dad is just the guy you roll your eyes at from the backseat of the car. So perhaps this is the year you finally do him right, with a totally sweet Father's Day gift.

Which is where we come in: Using the full force of the MTV News brain trust, we've compiled a list of gifts sure to make his Father's Day special. From movies and video games to ultra-cool accessories and totally killer rock records, these are the must-haves for any dad.

Because he's worth it. And also because he probably doesn't want another tie.

For the dad still stuck in the 1980s: How about a pair of tickets to "Rock of Ages," the film that captures the rock and roll excesses of the Reagan era in all their full-throttled, feathered-hair glory? Sure, it might be super-embarrassing to sit next to him as he plays air guitar to Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me," but imagine how he feels when you make him drop you off a block and a half away from the mall. You're even.

For the dad who's a super-nerd ... and really into beheadings: Get him a Blu-ray copy of the first season of "Game of Thrones," the bloody-great HBO show that redefines sheer nerdery as we know it. "Thrones" has truly got something for every dad. Machiavellian political dealings, gripping drama and dripping combat scenes — it's all there for the viewing. And shoot, even if he's not into swords and sorcery, there's plenty of nudity. This is what we in the business refer to as a "win/win."

For the dad who fancies himself an anti-hero: Pick up "Max Payne 3," the latest installment of Rockstar Games' truly excellent shooter series. Set eight years after the last game, it finds Max overweight and overwrought, popping pills and dealing with a serious late-life crisis. (Just like your dad!) Of course, it's not all drama; in fact, the third "Payne" game brings back the much-saluted "bullet-time" technology, which slows down the shootouts and maximizes the cinematic gore. As an added bonus, the folks at Rockstar also tout the fact that the killing is more realistic than ever this time out. Plenty of bad guys to smoke, plenty of brooding to be done: It's the kind of feel-good game you and your dad can play together. Ah, memories.

For the dad who wants the latest in shut-in couture: Get him one of the limited-edition Supreme T-shirts designed by noted oddball auteur (and illustrator) Daniel Johnston. Filled with illustrations of cross-bearing Captain Americas, boxing aliens and, uh, more Captain Americas, they're guaranteed to make dad the hit of his next office mixer — and to totally freak out all of his co-workers, too.

For the dad who's totally awesome: Download him a copy of Japandroids' Celebration Rock, the year's most kick-ass rock record. Full of fist-pumping riffs and shout-worthy sing-alongs, it'll take him back to the good old days, when rock was played fast and loud and you could get away with giving songs titles like "Fire's Highway." He'll probably take off his shirt and crack open a cold one, but deal with it. Dad's gotta cut loose somehow.

For the skater dad: Head out to Macy's and pick him out something from Lil Wayne's new Trukfit line, a collection of colorful hats and tees with just enough swag for the skate park. And as if some Weezy association isn't enough to make your pops super cool, consider this: The clothing line's name is an acronym for "The Reason U Kill for It," which automatically makes him the hardest dad on the block.

  • Yvette Wilson, 'Moesha' Actress, Dead at 48

Comic who also appeared in the spin-off 'The Parkers' died of cervical cancer.
    By Gil Kaufman

    Photo:

Comic and actress Yvette Wilson, one of the stars of the 1990s UPN sitcom "Moesha," died on Thursday at the age of 48 after a battle with cervical cancer. Wilson, who played Andell Wilkerson, the owner of neighborhood hang spot the Den on the sitcom starring singer Brandy, went on to play that same role on the "Moesha" spin-off "The Parkers."

Wilson's good friend, Jeffrey Pittle, confirmed the news that Wilson had passed in a statement on a website he set up to help raise funds for her treatment. "It is with a heavy heart that I can verify that Yvette passed away last evening after a lengthy and hard battle," he wrote. "She was a fighter to the end, and her talent, humor and amazing friendship will be sorely missed. She will live on through her awesome body of work."

Born on March 6, 1964, in Los Angeles, Wilson backed her way into acting by taking a friend's dare to do stand-up comedy and then landing a spot on the short-lived sitcom "Thea." That helped her book bit parts in movies including "House Party 2" and its sequel, "Friday," "Poetic Justice" and "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood."

Those gigs won her the part of Wilkerson on "Moesha," where she counseled her younger charge while keeping an eye on the kids at the Den. She parlayed that into a co-starring role alongside Mo'Nique on "The Parkers." When Wilson's cancer crisis got serious after years of battles with kidney failure and kidney transplants, Pittle started a website to raise money for her treatment. Dubbing it the "Yvette Wilson CANCER SUCKS FUND," the site had raised nearly 30 percent of its $50,000 goal at the time of her death.

A number of her friends and admirers tweeted tributes, including "Moesha" co-star Shar Jackson, who wrote, "F--- Cancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... oh god ... my heart is soooo unbelievably broken ... I wanna thank all my tweeties for their prayers but god has chosen to take my sister Yvette home."

Also weighing in was Jamie Foxx, who said, "God bless u Yvette Wilson. Tears in my eyes. Keep God laughing" and former Fugees singer Lauryn Hill, who wrote, "R.I.P. Yvette Wilson ... Life is short, so cherish yours." A number of other actors/comedians also praised Wilson and offered condolences, including Cedric the Entertainer, Loni Love, Marlon Wayans and Roots drummer ?uestlove.

  • 'Rock Of Ages': Behind The Star-Studded Cameos

Director Adam Shankman explains how '80s icons like Sebastian Bach and Debbie Gibson ended up in the movie musical.
    By Amy Wilkinson

    Photo:

The '80s are alive and well in director Adam Shankman's movie musical "Rock of Ages," which shimmied into theaters Friday (June 15).

Based on the hit Broadway production of the same name, the flick follows would-be musician Drew Boley (Diego Boneta) as he falls for new-in-town Sherrie Christian (Julianne Hough) and lands his big break opening for rock legend Stacee Jaxx (Tom Cruise) at the famed Bourbon Room.

The soundtrack is stuffed with the era's biggest hits like "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," "Don't Stop Believin' " and "I Want to Know What Love Is," but the toe-tapping tunes aren't the only throwbacks to the decade of decadence. Pay close attention and you'll spot a number of '80s music mavens.

A major plotline in the film centers around conservative advocate Patricia Whitmore's (Catherine Zeta-Jones) attempt to shutter the Bourbon Room and reclaim the Sunset Strip for more wholesome pursuits. The struggle reaches its climax in a rocking protest outside the club with Patricia and company facing off against club employee Lonny (Russell Brand) while singing a mash-up of "We Built This City" and "We're Not Gonna Take It." It's here among the assembled masses that you'll recognize a few familiar faces, like Skid Row's Sebastian Bach and Debbie Gibson. But how did the cameos come to be?

"I had said if anyone from the period wants to participate, there is a scene I'm happy to accommodate, 'cause it just felt right. ... So the studio just kind of put out the word, and that's what happened," Shankman said. "I would get the phone call the day before going, 'This is who's coming tomorrow,' and I'm like, 'Seriously?!' "

Having a bevy of rock stars on a single set might sound like a nightmare of warring egos and AquaNet, but in fact, Shankman said the stars sang for their supper, staging an impromptu concert.

"The greatest part of having those guys — [REO Speedwagon's] Kevin Cronin, [Extreme's] Nuno Bettencourt and Sebastian — all of them, our lunch that night was at 3:30 in the morning, and during lunch for the whole crew, they did a whole concert, and they sang all the songs."

Now that's a scene we want to see on the DVD bonus reel!

Check out everything we've got on "Rock of Ages."

  • Madonna's Top NSFW Moments

Flashing her nipple and bum are pretty tame compared to some of Madonna's most controversial acts.
    By Gil Kaufman

    Britney Spears and Madonna
    Photo:

When you build your career on constant shock-and-aw-nah-she-didn't stunts, when it comes to something as mundane as flashing some skin, well, you can understand if we're not freaking out.

But, even though she's burned crosses, hitchhiked nude, simulated more sex on stage than most of us will ever have in real life and pissed off the Vatican for decades, people could not get enough of Madonna's latest attempts at outrage over the past week.

    After first exposing her nipple
during a show in Istanbul, the 53-year-old pop icon dropped trou and gave fans in Rome a shot of her taught, toned full moon
, leaving some to wonder: what's next? It was just the latest in a career-long series of outrageous moments that have helped Madonna grab headlines and eyeballs for more than three decades. Here's a look at five of Madonna's most controversial career escapades.

Molly folly: At March's Ultra Music Festival in Miami Madonna drew the ire of EDM star deadmau5
when she asked the crowd if they had "seen Molly" The seeming wink-wink nod to the drug ecstasy angered Deadmau5, who slammed the singer for seemingly promoting drug use.

Cross to bear: Though now a follower of the Jewish mystical sect of Kabbalah, Madonna was raised Catholic and has spent her career exorcising her religious demons. On her 2006 Confessions Tour she pissed off the Vatican when she spent time hanging from a mirror cross and wearing a crown of thorns during "Live to Tell." Catholics were none too happy in 1989, either, when she sported stigmata and danced amid burning crosses in her "Like a Prayer" video.

Britney tonsil hockey: Just when you thought she had no outrage left in the tank, Madonna set tongues wagging once again in 2003 when she gave Britney Spears a long, tongue-filled open-mouth kiss.

F-bombs away!: Way before there were viral videos, Madge created an overnight must-see when she sat down with talk show host David Letterman, lit up a stogie and proceeded to drop the f-bomb more than a dozen times to the usually unflappable Letterman's surprise.

Sex manual: She launched herself into international stardom in 1984 by rolling around on the MTV VMA stage in a wedding dress while singing "Like a Virgin," filmed the not-safe-for-TV "Justify My Love" clip, simulated onstage masturbation on her 1990 Blond Ambition tour. But Madonna was just getting started and somehow caused jaws to drop even further in 1992 when she released the "Sex" book. The three-million-plus-selling softcore pornographic book featured copious amounts of S&M play, tons of nudity and kinky shots of the singer with everyone from rappers Big Daddy Kane and Vanilla Ice to model Naomi Campbell and gay porn star Joey Stefano.

What's your favorite controversial Madonna moment? Let us know in comments below.

  • One Direction Set To Become Booming $100 Million Business

With world tour and new album on horizon, boy band expected to double profits in the coming year, Sony executive says.
    By Jocelyn Vena

    One Direction
    Photo:

If One Direction feel like they can't get any more successful, think again: According to one of their label bosses, the British boybanders are poised to double their business for the 2013 fiscal year.

The guys are currently worth $50 million, Sony Music UK chairman Nick Gatfield shared with Music Week, according to Press Party, and in the coming year, that is expected to hit $100 million. "What you might not know about One Direction is that they already represent a $50 million business," he said. "And that's a figure we expect to double next year."

The guys are currently on a massive North American summer tour and will headline Madison Square Garden at the tail-end of 2012 before they go on an already announced and highly anticipated world tour next year. Adding to all the pandemonium, they've also teased a possible fourth-quarter album release and have even been attached to a number of other projects, including a big-screen 3-D spectacular and a cartoon.

But, it's not just the guys who are cashing checks: They employ a small convoy. "The team around them — which includes musicians, stylists, producers, tour managers and so on — account for around 90 people," Gatfield added. "That's 90 jobs created by these five boys."

As for that sophomore album, Niall Horan told Ryan Seacrest that things are in motion for a follow-up to the chart-topping Up All Night to be done before the year's end. "We're trying to get it done. We're working on it at the moment — recording whenever we can and writing songs on the road. Hopefully, we can get it done before Christmas."

As for rumors that the guys might soon get animated in a series tentatively dubbed "The Adventurous Adventures of One Direction," Liam Payne teased in a recent interview that the one-off could lead to a regular series. However, a rep for the band couldn't comment to MTV News about any developments on that front.

  • Fun., Black Keys, Wiz Khalifa Get MTV Movie Awards Sales Bump

Sales of the Black Keys' singles were up by double-digits thanks to their Johnny Depp-assisted Movie Awards performances.
    By Gil Kaufman

    Photo:

It took an extra week, but the performers from this year's MTV Movie Awards got a Billboard chart bump after participating in the Russell Brand-hosted big screen blow-out. Among the big winners were the Black Keys, Wiz Khalifa and Fun., who all saw double-digit increases for sales of their albums and/or singles after their spots on the show.

The Keys got the biggest lift, with an assist to Generation Award
 winner Johnny Depp
, who sat in on a pair of songs with the Akron, Ohio, blues duo. Thanks to their prominent spot on the show, sales of the band's El Camino were up 18 percent last week to 10,000, according to the Hollywood Reporter. (The sales increases didn't factor in until this week because the Movie Awards took place on Sunday, June 3 and the SoundScan reporting week ends at the close of business on Sunday.)

The two songs they performed with Depp also saw some chart love, with "Gold on the Ceiling" up 30 percent and "Lonely Boy" taking a 19 percent hike up the charts. A spokesperson for the group's label said that not only did the Depp cameo help lift sales of Camino, but the prominent spot on the show also created a "healthy" spike of the Key's back catalog of singles and albums.

Khalifa was no slouch, either, with his new single, "Work Hard, Play Hard," selling 78,000 copies for a 37 percent increase over the previous week. It was a mix of news for fun., whose smash single, "We Are Young," got the celebs in the crowd up on their feet singing and clapping along, even as sales dropped by 25 percent after a strong six-week run at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Even as the single dropped, sales of the band's album, Some Nights, picked up by 33 percent to 18,000.

  • Kim Kardashian's Explanation For Divorce 'Leveled Me,' Oprah Winfrey Says

Talk-show host's interview with Kardashians airs Sunday on 'Oprah's Next Chapter.'
    By Jocelyn Vena

    Photo:

Oprah Winfrey's highly anticipated sit-down with the Kardashians is set to air on OWN on Sunday, on "Oprah's Next Chapter." Now, leading up to the interview, fans are getting some sneak peeks at what the talk-show host got the first family of reality TV to dish about.

"I think that's so ridiculous," Kim told Winfrey when asked if she ever feels exploited by her manager and mother, Kris Jenner.

"First of all, we have to hire a manager. So regardless, someone is going to get that [job]. No one will fight harder for you than your own mother," she said, according to E! News. "She knows us. She knows all of our moods. ... We just get each other. We vibe. It works."

In true Oprah fashion, Winfrey asked all the hard questions, including getting Kim to open up about her short-lived marriage to Kris Humphries. "Everyone who's asked was the marriage a publicity stunt? Why did she leave after 72 days? Her answer leveled me," Winfrey said on her Facebook page.

"Ok my friends I had the longest interviewing session I can ever recall, talking to ALLLLLLLL the Kardashians. I had never met them, nor seen the show," Winfrey blogged. "I did a full on Kardashian Kram in preparation, watching major shows from every season. I genuinely wanted to know why they have become a cultural phenomenon? Why do so many people love to watch their every move and why do so many others love to hate them. Are they completely ego centered? Are they really 'famous for being famous' or is there something more?

"I 'GOT IT' ... those answers + more," she added. "Those of you who watch the show know they hold nothing back. This interview I'd say was another level of forthrightness and honesty. Who surprised me the most? Scott. Lamar and Khloe. Kim."

We only have to wait a few more days until the world premiere of Katy Perry's latest music video for her newest hit single, "Wide Awake." Perry is bringing the anticipated clip to MTV on Tuesday via "MTV First: Katy Perry."

Perry has said the song, along with certain aspects of the video, is all about her journey of self-discovery during the past year. Of her inspiration for the song and the video, Perry told MTV News, "I just wanted to tell a story about myself going through this journey, maybe sometimes trying to get out of the maze. There's good parts; there's bad parts. Of course, there has been a lot of things that went on last year that I had to get through and overcome. I think what probably kept me going is just the purity of my belief in music."

Judging from what we saw in the recent teaser trailer, "Wide Awake" is all wrapped up in a fairytale or at least in a fairytale-like setting. Perry appears to be playing the princess, and along her journey encounters a poisoned strawberry, a curious cat, Prince Charming and a young girl.

  • Chris Brown Talks To Police In Drake Fight Investigation

Breezy's lawyer turned over 'physical evidence' that allegedly implicates Drake.
    By Gil Kaufman

    Chris Brown
    Photo:

We may never know exactly what sparked the bottle-flying melee between Chris Brown and Drake at New York nightclub W.i.P.
on Wednesday night, but police will definitely get at least one side of the story.

According to TMZ, Brown has given a statement to NYPD investigators about the scuffle that left him with a gash on his chin and seriously injured one of his bodyguards, Big Pat. Unnamed law enforcement sources told the site that Brown's celebrity lawyer, Mark Geragos, has handed over unspecified "physical evidence" that allegedly implicates Drake in the fight.

One of the rappers hanging with Drake that night, Meek Mill, has denied reports that he set the fight off by tossing a bottle at Brown's group. Drake has also said he had nothing to do with the melee, issuing a statement on Thursday that read, "Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind last night at W.i.P. He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began. [Drake] did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property."

TMZ added that Geragos presented evidence to the NYPD on Thursday that allegedly showed that Drake and Meek were the aggressors, just hours after Breezy spoke to cops. Police say neither Brown nor Drake are currently suspects in the case and that Brown is being treated as a "witness and a victim." And while Drake has reportedly been "cooperating" with investigators and his representatives have had conversations with police, it was unclear at press time if the rapper had been involved in any direct talks with detectives.

Citing unnamed sources, TMZ claimed that the instigator may have been someone in Brown's camp who was "inciting Drake and his people all night."

Another video shows footage of Chris Brown and Mill leaving the club. Meek was spotted walking down the sidewalk, while Brown takes off his shirt before getting into a black SUV. Drake is also in the clip, but he is partially hidden in the crowd. Trey Songz was also filmed walking out of the club. The video, posted by We Mobbin DVD, implies that more footage will soon find its way online, for a price, including footage of the actual fight.

A bystander who was injured in the incident, 24-year-old Australian tourist Hollie C., has filed a police report after getting hit in the head by a bottle.

She sustained a gash that required 16 stitches and on Thursday she posted a video in which she lashed out at the perpetrators. "I went out last night with my friends to a place called W.i.P. and I've spent most of the night and morning in hospital ... the reason why I have 16 stitches on my head, my face is because of some stupid famous people having a fight over a girl. Where's the justice in them walking away, driving away in a limo while I have to catch a train home on one of my holidays?"
