Photo: Rick Diamond/ Getty ImagesWhat a long, strange, sonorous trip it's been: The Flaming Lips have officially made history by setting a new Guinness World Record for the most concerts performed in multiple cities in a 24-hour time period.
The legendary rockers began their journey Wednesday in Memphis, Tennessee, where they boarded their tricked-out bus, aptly named Endeavor, to zigzag across the region and treated fans to mini-sets in eight cities. Their efforts have bested the record for Most Live Concerts in 24 Hours (Multiple Cities), which was previously held by Jay-Z.
This extra-special record-breaking event featured unforgettable performances by the Lips themselves, as well as duets with special guest stars like Grace Potter and Jackson Browne. Highlights include a rousing take of David Bowie's "Heroes" with Neon Indian in Jackson, Mississippi, a thundering version of Led Zeppelin's "Song Remains the Same" with Grace Potter in Oxford, Mississippi, and a stripped-down cover of Jackson Browne's "These Days" — featuring Browne himself — in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Other special surprises included an opening performance by up-and-comer Hunter Hayes in Hattiesburg, Neon Trees in Biloxi, Mississippi, the New Fumes, Gary Clark Jr., Neon Indian, Givers and an appearance by "Jackass" and "Wildboyz" star Chris Pontius.
The O Music Awards ceremony doled out a total of 24 awards, one for each hour of the festival. This year's winners included: Adam Lambert (Must Follow Artist on Twitter), Selena Gomez (Best Artist With a Cameraphone), 30 Seconds to Mars (Best Online Concert Experience), Karmin (Best Web-born Artist), Tokio Hotel has the Fan Army FTW, and Riot in Paris took home the win for Most Extreme Fan Outreach.

On Tuesday, the Maybach Music boss dropped his label's second compilation, Self Made, Vol.2,and he is currently prepping his next album as well. With so much on his plate, will Rozay ever find time to finish his and Drake's YOLO (You Only Live Once) mixtape?
"It's still a huge possibility. Me and the homey stay in contact all the time and we record often," Ross said when he and his MMG crew appeared on Wednesday's "RapFix Live." So it's just making that decision and moving forward with it. I was just focusing on Self Made Vol.2 [and] finishing my album God Forgives, I Don't, which will be in stores July 31."
Next, Ross wants to focus his energy on Meek Mill's August 28 debut album, Dreams and Nightmares, but he hasn't ruled out the possibility of finishing what he and Drizzy started to plan last November. If the project is released, it will most likely be released under a different name. After Drake dropped his Take Care single "The Motto," the phrase has taken on a life of its own. In the song's hook, Drizzy spits, "Now she wants a photo/ You already know, though/ You only live once/ That's the motto, n---a, YOLO."
"That title has become so ... it's like an epidemic. So I hope by the time we finish it, it would still hold weight and substance," Drake told MTV News of the original mixtape title. "We might have to call it something different now, 'cause that's just so attached to 'The Motto.' "
Rozay agreed. "It got kinda crazy on the title, but you can most definitely expect me and the homey to put some type of work in," he said.
What should Rick Ross and Drake name their collaboration mixtape? Let us know in the comments!

'God, what a big role to take on,' she tells MTV News of fan support for her to play Anastasia Steele.
By Kara WarnerDespite all the talk this week about male strippers and the release of "Magic Mike," the steamiest story of the year is the fan fervor over "Fifty Shades of Grey" and the big-screen adaptation that has Hollywood all atwitter.
Specifically, who will play the lead roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey? We've done plenty of our own speculating here at MTV News, so when we caught up with rumored candidate Lucy Hale recently for a chat about her plans to release a country music album, we had to ask for her thoughts on taking on the racy role of Ana.
"I'm on 'Fifty Shades Darker,' " Hale said, name-dropping the second book in E L James' saucy trilogy. "I get flustered even talking about it, so yeah, I'm on that train."
We then brought up the subject of fan support for her landing the leading role in the movie version, which Hale finds very intriguing. "People have said that, but people have also said [I could play] the little sister, which I think could make sense, because I look a little young for Ana, but God, what a big role to take on," she said. "I'm really curious to see how it's all going to [play out]."
Hale said that any involvement with the film would take her career in a different direction, and she's comfortable with that type of diversion.
"I definitely am ready to take a step and do something a bit more risky, absolutely, but it's a fine line," she said. "I don't know what that fine line is, but I'm definitely ready to explore a darker side of my acting abilities."
In exploring that "darker side," we asked Hale what her parents would think of her involvement in a likely NC-17-rated film and whether they would see her in it.
"No, they would be banned!" she said. "My father, I don't even know. My mom, she's always been sort of really understanding, but my dad, even when he watches ['Pretty Little Liars'], he will be like, 'All right, I saw that scene with you and Ezra ... ' and I'm like, 'Dad, come on!' So it's still kind of like that, but I'm his little baby girl, so I get it."

Photo: Jeffrey MayerSelena Gomez , Karmin and 30 Seconds to Mars are already big O Music Awards winners as the 24-hour-long show rolls on with the Flaming Lips en route to breaking the Guinness World Record for the most concerts performed in multiple cities in a day.
Gomez took home the prize for Best Artist with a Cameraphone. The singer and actress is an avid Twitter and Facebook user and keeps her fans updated on what is going on in her day-to-day life with pictures she posts to the social-media sites, making her a natural for the prize.
Karmin, the pop duo made up of engaged couple Amy Heidemann and Louis Noonan, snagged the prize for Best Web-Born Artist after having a banner year that saw the group's single "Heartbroken" become a major success on the dance charts and their third EP and major-label debut open in the top 20 in May. The duo's rise to mainstream success began online after YouTube videos of their covers of Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now" and Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" went viral and amassed millions of page views.
Other big winners so far have included 30 Seconds to Mars, who took the prize for Best Online Concert Experience, and Best Protest Song winner Robert Wilkerson.
As the awards continue to be passed out — 24 in all, one for each hour of the show — the Flaming Lips continue their quest for the history books. So far, they've been joined onstage by Grace Potter, Neon Indian and Jackson Browne for five completed concerts (with three more to go) as they travel through the American South, on a route that began in Memphis, Tennessee, on Wednesday night and concludes later this evening in New Orleans.

The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne performs during the O Music awards
Photo: Rick Diamond/ Getty ImagesIf Erykah Badu truly doesn't want her video collaboration with the Flaming Lips to be seen, the band has other options.
Lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Wayne Coyne said in an O Music Awards interview Thursday (June 28) that his band's "dust-up" with the R&B singer has been mostly in fun. But he admitted that he doesn't know if the nudity-filled video for "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," which Badu said made her feel "violated," will officially return.
"At the moment, I'm talking with [Dresden Dolls singer] Amanda Palmer about remaking the video and having Amanda sing it and just be in the video," Coyne said while onboard the O Music Awards bus, which is currently on a cross-country journey during which the band is likely to set a new Guinness World Record for most shows played in a day.
The controversy kicked off when the video arrived and Badu tweeted that the clip was released without her full approval. "As a director, I am unimpressed. As a sociologist, I understand your type. As your fellow artist, I am uninspired," she wrote, along with similar sentiments. Coyne took to his own Twitter account to respond to her request that he kiss her "glittery ass" then responded in more depth in an interview with BBC Radio's 6Music. On Thursday, he elaborated further.
"There's some of it I can't speak about, because I sort of feel like there's a sacred obligation anytime artists decide to go into a room together. But she's about controversy," he said. "When [Erykah] said she didn't want it out, we took it down," Coyne pointed out, noting that fans continued reposting it after the fact. "You can control it to a certain extent, and we tried to, but I think the more the Twitter war raged, the more people wanted to make sure the video was posted.
"I told her in the beginning, I said, 'If you don't like it, let's just not talk about it. And no one will care and within a day or two it'll probably go away.' "
Coyne said Badu "does crazy videos all the time" and implied that she was more likely responding to criticism from her own fans. "The Flaming Lips audience is this wonderful, loving audience that knows a lot about music and is very open to stuff. So the Flaming Lips audience, like me, loves Erykah Badu. And there's a segment of the Erykah Badu audience that I don't think like the Flaming Lips at all or doesn't even know we exist. And so when they see her doing this thing with us — and Erykah pointed this out: There's a segment of her audience that has ... " he trailed off, trying to find the words. "She doesn't know which way to play it.
"I think I convinced her that it was a Flaming Lips video and not to worry about it," he explained. "I think for a little while, she was maybe not necessarily completely at ease with that, but she was like, 'You're right, Wayne, it'll be fun.' Obviously, we made the video. But then I believe when the reaction from her audience to her was so vicious, I wanted her to defend herself. She's the only one that can do that. And I knew the Flaming Lips audience [would] know that some of this is in fun and some of it is in her way of protecting her 'brand' or whatever. And we would just play along with that. So I think that's really all there is to it."

Channing Tatum reveals to MTV News that Joe Manganiello's eye-popping penis pump scene was inspired by real-life events.
By Kara Warner
Channing Tatum in "Magic Mike"
Photo: Warner Bros.In our ongoing coverage, we've mentioned that "Magic Mike" is actually a complex comedy about male strippers. However, in the midst of all that, there are also many jokes that poke at the ridiculousness involved in the job.
In one particularly surprising and hilarious scene, Joe Manganiello's character, Big D--- Richie, actually demonstrates how he got his nickname ... with the use of a "penis pump."
When MTV News caught up with the cast recently, we asked the cast to explain how that scene came to be and the technicalities involved in operating a penis pump.
"I went up and did this stripper convention once in the Carolinas and there were these guys that I didn't quite understand how they were doing what they were doing," Channing Tatum recalled of his days as a real-life stripper. "And then I saw something in the back that I wasn't sure [about], but I [saw] one dude — while other dudes weren't paying any attention and they like were talking — this other guy was just like kinda [makes fist-pumping motion], and I was like, 'What is happening back there?' And that's where that idea [for that scene] came from."
"That's a good scene," Matthew McConaughey added, "And just a microcosm of the movie and [director Steven] Soderbergh [does]. If you say, 'Hey it's a scene and a guy's pumping up his trophy there,' it's funny. You're going, 'what?!' When you reveal that's what he's doing in the shot, I remember Steven on the other side [of the camera], it was a kitchen we were all getting dressed in, when you reveal it, [you think]: One, it's part of the joke and two, how is the character/Joe doing it? He could go big on it, he could make a big, funny 'Animal House' moment/joke of it but the fact that he's taking it so seriously, [his character] does this nightly and he's really concentrating."
"He had a whole thing with it," Tatum further explained of Manganiello's method in the scene. "[Joe said,] 'You have to take it up to the point where you're blacking out and release. You have to take it right up to the point where you're just blacking out and the tunnel starts to close and you're just like, 'Uhhh.' "
From Manganiello's perspective, the scene was a delicate balance of a gonzo joke and getting into the mind of a character who takes his work very seriously. "Technology for penis pumps hasn't really increased since I'm guessing when they were invented in the 1970s," he said. "So they really haven't changed; technology is really the same. And with that said, we are working with a small budget. This is a small-budget independent movie."
"We're working with something very large on a small budget," Matt Bomer joked.
"Yes, well we didn't have enough money for fluffers," Manganiello added. "So the penis pump really was the cheap alternative."
"That would have been a whole different movie," Bomer pointed out. "I've never had a harder time not laughing in a scene, I don't think, because we've known each other for 16 years."
"I was so deep in character," Manganiello smiled. "You got to get it right; you don't want to go over. You just want to hover right there."
So, the pump actually works?
"Oh ... it, it works," Manganiello assured us.
We had to ask if he thought that scene would be the last time he ever uses a pump.
"I can't say that," he said with a smile.

Host tells MTV News the experts on ABC's reality singing competition actually 'have the credibility to back up what they're saying.'
By John MitchellThursday night (June 28), "Duets," ABC's reality singing competition, will go live for the first time with the contestants and their superstar partners (Kelly Clarkson, Robin Thicke, John Legend and Jennifer Nettles) singing new-millennium songs before turning the vote over to the public.
The show puts a new twist on the tried-and-true genre, but also differs from the competition when it comes to judging style, according to host Quddus.
"I'm a positive person, I don't need to see people bickering on screen. I don't enjoy uncomfortable moments like that," Quddus explained MTV News when asked what set "duets" apart from the competition. "I enjoy people who are witty and smart and have really pointed opinions, who can say a point without having to demolish somebody's self-esteem. And that's what our show is."
The former host of MTV's "TRL" feels like having a bad guy at the judges' table is not only a stereotype, but often those people don't even have the proven success to back up their harsh words. "Duets," he says, goes above and beyond shows like "American Idol" and "The Voice" because of the level of talent the coaches bring to the table.
"I feel like it's such a stereotype to have people behind a judges' table who are so pompous sometimes and so know-it-all about it, and oftentimes they don't even have the credibility to back up what they're saying," he said. "So I'm like, you know what, it's time for people who actually make amazing records, who are good people, who genuinely want to see other people win and develop as artists do the talking. And that's what our show is."
"Duets" airs at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Anyway, back to all that news. There's been a lot — so much so that even the most devoted "Hunger Games" fan could have missed a tidbit or two. Let's look back at the week in news and notes:
Jenna Malone as Johanna Mason
It's pretty neat how they have the same initials, huh? Late last week, IndieWire reported that "Alice in Wonderland" star Mia Wasikowska and newcomer Zoe Aggeliki were among Lionsgate's top picks for the District 7 tribute. But not so fast: Entertainment Weekly reported Tuesday that it's Jena Malone of "Sucker Punch" fame who's in talks to enter the arena. And from her turn in Zack Snyder's fighting fantasia, it's clear she has the action chops for the Quarter Quell.Et Tu, Brute?
Johanna Mason wasn't the only "Catching Fire" character getting casting heat this week. Shockya had the news that two men are vying for the role of big brute Brutus from District 2: "Unstoppable" actor Victor Gojcaj and "Lost" actor Kevin Durand. Wonder what Caesar Flickerman has to say about this?So Many People In Talks
Then there were so many people who said they've chatted with Lionsgate brass without divulging which role they were eyeing. First there was "Magic Mike" star Kevin Nash, whom many speculated could also be in the running for Brutus. Переслать - Jimmy Henchman Did Not Admit To Tupac Shooting, Lawyer Says
Attorney Gerald Shargel says claims that James Rosemond admitted to the 1994 shooting of Tupac are 'totally false.'
By Rob Markman
Jimmy Henchman
Photo: Soul Brother/FilmMagicJames "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond was convicted of drug-trafficking, but his lawyer continues to shoot down reports that the one-time music mogul orchestrated the 1994 shooting of Tupac Shakur.
In a June 12 Village Voice article, journalist Chuck Phillips reported that Henchman admitted to the 'Pac shooting during a proffer session with the government in 2011. Proffer sessions allow suspects under investigation to confess to crimes under the agreement that the confession won't be used to prosecute them. These proffers are not a matter of public record, but after Rosemond's attorney Gerald Shargel referenced and refuted a March 2008 Los Angeles Times article by Phillips in which Henchman was reported to have orchestrated the Shakur shooting, the prosecution in turn referenced the proffer sessions in an effort to admit it as evidence. Shargel has consistently denied charges that Rosemond had anything to do with the shooting.
"If Mr. Shargel is going to argue that this was a fabricated article, it's the government's position that we can put in the defendant's own admission about that particular shooting," U.S. Attorney Soumya Dayananda is quoted as saying in the trial transcripts.
On Wednesday, Gerald Shargel spoke to MTV News in an effort to clear his client's name. "The statement by the prosecutor that Jimmy Rosemond had confessed or admitted to being involved in the 1994 shooting of Tupac is totally false," he said. "He categorically and emphatically denied that he had participation or role in that shooting and that was clear from the outset."
Shargel, who says he was present during the proffer sessions, believes that the prosecution misspoke in the court room. "Her statement was positively and absolutely false whether intentional, or not intentional. I think not intentional," he said. "She was not the prosecutor who sat in on any of the proffer sessions with Mr. Rosemond."
The judge would eventually rule in Shargel's favor and not admit the proffers into evidence, so any statement that Rosemond may have made during these sessions are still private. "Anyone looking at the statements or knows of the statements would know that [Rosemond] didn't make that admission and more than didn't make the admission, he categorically, absolutely, emphatically without any qualification whatsoever denied being a part of that," he said. "We stand by it to this day."

Photo: UniversalOn Wednesday, hours after the premiere of Lana Del Rey and A$AP Rocky's controversial "National Anthem" video, director Anthony Mandler spoke to MTV News about making the clip and dealing with the "packed powder keg" of public sentiment surrounding JFK and his legacy.
"Lana was really interested in exploring this loss of innocence, this idea that what you think you're experiencing is maybe not what it's always going to be," he explained. "Because when you say 'Kennedy,' that immediately evokes something ... so I think using that power, that pedigree of the story is a really fascinating place to show the loss of something, the breakdown of something."
And that sentiment is very much echoed throughout the "Anthem" video, as Mandler explores the triangular relationship between Del Rey's Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy and A$AP's JFK, a love story with a very tragic (and public) end. It's a story line he knew would stir up controversy, as was his decision to re-cast Jackie and JFK as an interracial couple — "Even with an African-American president [today], it's still ... taboo, even if it shouldn't be," he said — though, in a lot of ways, that was precisely the point.
While he spent a large portion of our Skype interview discussing the fallout from the video, Mandler also spoke at length about the stories behind the video, from getting the fashions of the 1960s just right to shooting on multiple formats to ensure an authentic look. So, in the video above, we have Mandler's running commentary on "National Anthem," a clip that proudly pushes people's buttons. As is the case with most controversial works, you might not agree with the video's message, but you can definitely appreciate the effort that went into its creation.

Photo: MTVThe Flaming Lips are barreling their way through the O Music Awards — and into the Guinness Book of World Records — aboard a tricked-out tour bus, and they're less than eight hours away from besting Jay-Z's mark for most shows played within a single day.
And in typical Lips fashion, they've made each stop on their OMA trek — five so far, in cities throughout the South — a uniquely insane experience. They've been joined friends like Grace Potter, Neon Indian and Jackson Browne, torn through a litany of covers and generally wreaked havoc at every possible opportunity. If all goes according to plan, they'll wrap things up (and officially enter the Guinness Book) with a triumphant set in New Orleans, sharing the stage with Grimes.
Highlights so far include a rousing take of with Neon Indian in Jackson, Mississippi, a thundering version of Led Zeppelin's "Song Remains the Same" with Grace Potter in Oxford, Mississippi, and a somber, pretty cover of Jackson Browne's "These Days" — featuring Browne himself — taken from a performance in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. They've also engaged in no shortage of off-stage hijinks, like launching fireworks at an abandoned gas station with Potter and phoning friends with "Jackass" star Chris Pontius.
There's also been no shortage of memorable moments from other performers along the way, including Potter hitting the helium and belting out a version of Lionel Richie's "All Night Long," Neon Indian's drony take on "Hex Girlfriend," and Big Freedia bouncing through "Azz Everywhere."
And there are still three shows to go. You can follow all the Lips' OMA madness through the O Music Awards official site.

Photo: Getty ImagesAs One Direction close out the chapter on their U.S. tour this weekend, the guys are already thinking about their next project, their sophomore album release.
They dropped their chart-topping, record-breaking debut, Up All Night, abroad in November 2011 before launching their U.S. invasion with the album back in March. And now, according to Niall Horan, they've already been kicking around tracks for their next release.
"We've been recording already, actually," Horan shared with MTV News. "When we came back from Australia, we had a couple weeks off and then we went straight into the studio to get cracking on the next album.
"We wrote an absolutely cracking song that we're all kind of very excited about. ... And then last week we were in L.A. and we had five days off the tour to record in L.A. so we recorded more there," Horan said, adding that they intend to spend all of July and August "getting the album done."
Up All Night songwriter Ed Sheeran has teased that he will hit the studio with the guys later this summer and they appear to be on some tight deadlines as well, with an expected fourth-quarter release looming in the not-so-far-off distance.
"Then obviously we've got to make a decision for a single soon, 'cause we have to get a single out towards September, I suppose. So obviously we don't have a date for that yet, so we're gonna have to start thinking, sitting down with the record label, sitting down with management, getting everyone's views. Obviously everyone was on the same page [last time]. It's usually not a struggle," he said, before breaking down how the band and their team work together on every detail.
"The way it works for us, I don't know how everyone else works but, people don't see the meetings that we do, the all-day meetings about the album, and the way the songs are going to be even listed on the back of the album and album artwork," he explained. "We want to have the most control that we possibly can of everything that we do. Like at the moment, I'm just proofreading the single artwork for the next single. They don't see that."
While Horan couldn't tell us too many specifics about the upcoming tracks, he did confirm one thing: The rumors that the lead single would be called "Heartbreaker" are not true.
"I read that on Twitter," he said. "It's not true at all. We actually don't even have a song called 'Heartbreaker.' That's not gonna happen."

"I was bout to walk in ten June n---as about to start shooting out there....I'ma take it innnn," Meek tweeted on Tuesday morning.
A rep for the New York Police Department told MTV News that they responded to a call at Tenjune, but after an investigation they concluded that there was no criminality suspected and they left.
The incident comes almost two weeks after Meek saw his name pop up in reports circling the club W.i.P. bottle-brawl, which involved members of Drake and Chris Brown's respective entourages. Meek has maintained that while he was inside of W.i.P. that night, he had nothing to do with the melee. Still it seems that he may be experiencing some type of backlash as he was denied entry into Tenjune. "I don't got no love for these clubs that discriminate against a certain race! F--- you...u won't get these racks," the Philadelphia rapper tweeted after being denied entry.
Meek, who plays a major role on MMG's recently released Self Made, Vol. 2,appeared on Wednesday's "RapFix Live" and said that he feels that his rising celebrity makes him a target for gossip. Overall the "I'ma Boss" rapper is just trying to maintain a positive outlook. "I don't really be having those controversies like that, man. It's just that the more hotter you get, they start talkin'," he said. "I don't be on no negative vibes, man."
His boss Rick Ross backed him up. "I know Meek. I know the situation he's in, I know where he comes from. I know that's something that he won't get involved in," Rozay said of the W.i.P. incident.

Blige for the firestorm of criticism that rained down on her in April when she appeared in a controversial Burger King ad that was panned for being tasteless. Nearly three months later, she's finally sharing her side of the story, admitting that she was "crushed" by the backlash.
The ad, intended to promote Burger King's revamped menu, found Mary on top of a table, belting out the ingredients to the Crispy Chicken Snack Wrap over the melody of her song "Don't Mind." The backlash was immediate. Hours after the ad appeared online, Burger King pulled it from their YouTube channel, later citing music-licensing issues. But it was clear from comments, tweets and Facebook posts why the clip really vanished.
In the midst of the chaos, Mary released a statement apologizing for the "unfinished" ad, but during a Thursday interview with NYC radio station Hot 97, she admitted how deeply the whole fiasco cut her.
"I just felt like there was no need for me to say anything, because everyone was crucifying me and going crazy," she said about remaining mum at the time. "I pulled back and watched everyone and everything, [because] it's just something that I thought would've been a great branding opportunity. I went online to listen to the remix that I did with Fat Joe, I'm looking for 'Another Round,' and all I could see is Burger King, chicken and buffoonery, and it just broke my heart.
"I understood the laughter and the jokes and the stuff that was happening — you're supposed to do that when something like that happens — but the thing that hurt me is when people were starting to say vicious, negative things that didn't have [anything] to do with that," she continued. "It exposed everyone and everything in my life and showed me who my friends are."
Mary said that a few people reached out with comforting words while she was "wanting to crawl under the bed," but she also took notice of those who tried to distance themselves from the project. "I had to go to the airport the next day, when it was hot off the press, and I just held my head up," she said. "It was a mistake and I did it because I thought it was something that wouldn't come out like that. No one had mercy, and it's cool, it was a learning experience. It hurt my feelings, it crushed me for two days, but after those two days, I got up and I kept going. I want to apologize to everyone that was offended or thought I would do something so disrespectful to our culture. I would never do anything like that purposely."

Maroon 5 leading man owns up to a fear of the creepy FX show that he will appear on next season.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by James MontgomeryAdam Levine is on board to play one-half of "The Lovers" in the new season of FX's super-creepy cult series "American Horror Story." But he might want to do one thing before he hits the set to work on season two: Like, you know, actually watch the show.
"I'm still too scared to watch it," he confessed when he sat down with MTV News earlier this week to chat about the new Maroon 5 album, Overexposed. "But I'm gonna try and beat my fear of really creepy, scary things like that by doing it. I think that's a good way to tackle that fear."
Not only is Levine scared of things that go bump in the night, he's also somewhat afraid of the show's creator, Ryan Murphy, who's already ordered the ab-tastic leading man not to divulge much of anything about his character to anyone.
"I can tell you nothing 'cause Ryan Murphy's already yelled at me like six times," Levine said. "Ryan, I'm not going to say anything. Don't worry. He texted me the other day like, 'Shut up, stop talking about it,' 'cause he likes to shroud everything in secrecy."
While fans may not know what to expect from Levine, given the show's penchant for having their attractive leading men appear sans shirts, we imagine that Murphy might tap into one of Levine's greatest assets. And when MTV News spoke to "AHS" writer Tim Minear recently, he explained that while this new season will take place in the 1960s, Levine will play a character that serves as a bridge to the present.
"Let's say that Adam's character is kind of a nod to contemporary sensibilities, as opposed to something from the mid-century," he explained.
Season one of the FX horror series took place in sunny Los Angeles, which served as the backdrop to Murder House and its disturbed inhabitants, both living and dead. But season two will take place in the last century on the East Coast with a mental institution as the locale for all the creepiness. "AHS" fan favorite Jessica Lange will be back and calling the shots. Other returning castmates include Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe.

'It was unfortunate for everybody that was in there,' Ross tells 'RapFix Live' of June 14 altercation at NYC club.

Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV NewsRick Ross once bragged in song that "a boss is one who guarantees we're gonna eat," but as the head of Maybach Music Group, Rozay's role goes even deeper than that. When it comes to the artists on his label, Ross not only creates opportunities for his soldiers to earn a living, the rap veteran also provides a wealth of knowledge helping his young roster avoid certain pitfalls.
After the June 14 bottle-throwing brawl involving Drake's and Chris Brown's entourages at New York's club W.i.P., MMG's Meek Mill saw his name come up in numerous reports. Even though Meek maintains that he had no part in the melee, the accusations alone can rattle a young artist's cage, and that's were a true boss can provide both guidance and reassurance. "When I seen him, I just dapped him up and told [him to] stay focused and let's keep going," Ross told "RapFix Live" on Wednesday.
Rozay has the utmost confidence in the Philadelphia MC, with whom he collaborated on the label's recently released Self Made, Vol.2. "I know Meek. I know the situation he's in, I know where he comes from. I know that's something that he won't get involved in," Ross said.
Still, the swift and calculating Bawse is careful not to say too much, especially considering that he wasn't present during the altercation. "I wasn't there so I won't make a comment other than it was unfortunate for everybody that was in there," he said. "But I know the homey, we seen each other that night, and that wasn't his mind-set. He wasn't involved in that."
Meek, who is set to release his debut album, Dreams and Nightmares, on August 28, also addressed the incident on "RapFix." "I hollered at Chris Brown immediately, I talked to Drake immediately," he said. "I don't be on no negative vibes, man. ... We blessed, we get money, we rich, and leave it at that."

KatyCat writes, 'I would rather watch the Katy Perry movie' on billboard for Brand's FX talk show.

Photo: Mark Ralston/AFP/Getty ImagesWell, there's at least one person who won't be watching Russell Brand's new FX talk show. That person is the Katy Perry fan who vandalized a billboard featuring the comedian's new show in Los Angeles.
The advertisement for the show, which kicks off Thursday (June 28) on the cable network, is on Sunset Boulevard. The show is tagged "Late Night ReBranded," and the overzealous KatyCat added this message: "I would rather watch the Katy Perry movie." TMZ was first to post a photo of the newly redesigned billboard.
"I am so excited I'm on the point of climax, in fact I will put the 'O' into FX, which spells Fox, which is actually the channel's real name," Brand said in a statement back in December, when the show was first announced. "That's the only thing that worries me about all this to be honest. At least I'll be able to have a Christmas drink with Bill O'Reilly."
The show hits small screens one week before Katy drops her 3-D movie spectacle, "Katy Perry: Part of Me," which touches on her divorce from Brand in great detail.
At the junket for the July 5 movie release, Perry opened up about why she wanted to include her split in the film. "The truth will always prevail," she said. "Everything has to be handled with integrity and appropriately, and it's not nice to air all your dirty laundry, because that stinks, so I had to be very delicate with the situation, but I couldn't avoid the elephant in the room," she explained. "If you were to have seen that movie and walked out and [my breakup] wasn't at all mentioned like it never happened, you'd be like, 'Eh, this is weird, what is she trying to hide?' I don't like to hide."

'It's not like we're walking around being angry, we just wanted to prove that one point and that was that,' Nicki tells U.K. radio personality Tim Westwood.

Photo: Getty ImagesNicki Minaj doesn't hold a grudge. When it comes to her relationship with New York's Hot 97, the Barbie leader says it is all love.
"I feel like it happened and there is no animosity, I still love them over there at the station. They've helped me a lot as well," Minaj told U.K. DJ and personality Tim Westwood. "It's not like we're walking around being angry, we just wanted to prove that one point and that was that."
That point is: Don't disrespect Ms. Minaj.
On June 3, Nicki was scheduled to close out Hot 97's annual Summer Jam concert, but after morning show host Peter Rosenberg alluded that Minaj's "Starships" single wasn't real hip-hop, she pulled out of the all-star concert. "At a certain point, you just want respect," Nicki told Westwood.
It was actually Nicki's Young Money boss Lil Wayne who urged her to pull the plug on the show. Many critics suggested that maybe Minaj should've taken the stage and fired back at the outspoken Rosenberg, who often downs "Starships" on his daily radio show. "I don't want to do that, I want to let people know that I'm not even getting on your stage if you don't have your mind right," Nicki said. "That's the point. See, if you get on the stage, you're saying next time you can do it again and we'll have this exchange."
Wayne spoke with MTV News earlier this month about his executive decision. Tunechi believes that because Nick is a female, Hot 97 should've handled the situation with more tact. "That's a female; first and foremost Nicki Minaj is a female. I don't know what anyone else believes, but I believe females deserve the ultimate respect at all times no matter, when or where or how," he said.
Minaj does believe there is a double standard at times. Of course she knows the RedOne-produced "Starships" doesn't exactly fit Hit 97's urban radio format, but neither does Lil Wayne's acoustic sing-a-long "How to Love."
"The year before that Wayne performed 'How to Love' at Summer Jam," Nicki pointed out. "No one said anything. My thing is the guys do treat the guys different and maybe they feel Nicki Minaj is something to be played with.
"You have your opinions on radio and all that, but when an artist comes to perform you should just keep it to yourself, just for that one day," she finished.

'Sparkle' star opens up to BET about filming the clip after the superstar passed away in February.

Whitney Houston in Jordin Sparks' video for "Celebrate"
Photo: RCA RecordsIn the brand-new clip for the "Sparkle" soundtrack single "Celebrate," the presence of legendary singer Whitney Houston is undeniable, even though she passed away prior to the filming of the music video.
In the clip, Houston's co-star Jordin Sparks throws a house party attended by her "Sparkle" castmates, minus the late singer, although Houston does appear in the video via film footage. And in another nod to the star, Sparks also rocks a Whitney Houston T-shirt in the clip. The video is capped off with a message that reads "In loving memory of Whitney Houston."
In an interview with BET, Sparks shared that the treatment originally included a cameo from Houston. But with her unexpected passing in February, the game plan needed to change.
"When we did the song, we planned on it being Whitney and me. But she's not here, so we wanted to make it a tribute to her. So it's fun, upbeat and exciting — there are clips from the movie and the main cast is in the video too. It's me, Tika Sumpter, Carmen Ejogo, Derek Luke, Omari Hardwick ... Goapele is in it and Mike Epps. We're all just having a good time [and the premise is] they all come over to my house singing along to Whitney's music. And we're missing her and celebrating her as well. It's actually pretty simple, but when you watch it and hear her voice along with it, it makes it so much more."
The video is hardly the first time the singer has paid homage to her late co-star. At the Billboard Music Awards in May, Sparks took the stage and belted out the late singer's iconic track "I Will Always Love You."
"Sparkle" is set to open on August 17. A remake of the 1976 Irene Cara film, it follows three talented young Harlem sisters whose musical aspirations are affected when one begins to struggle with drug addiction. The 2012 version features "American Idol" alum Sparks as the titular character and Houston, who also served as executive producer, as her mother, Emma. It's the last movie the singer filmed before she died in February, the same night she was slated to make an appearance at mentor Clive Davis' annual Grammy party.

In new teaser video, the band seems to hint at title of new album — via maritime signal flags, of course.
By James Montgomery
Mumford & Sons in their teaser video
Photo: UniversalBy now, you are probably aware that Mumford & Sons have finally finished the follow-up to their breakout Sigh No More album, and that it will hit stores on September 25. But unless you're familiar with international maritime signal flags, there's a pretty good chance you don't know what that new album is going to be called.
Or at least what we think it's going to be called. Because on Wednesday, Mumford posted a new teaser video on their official site, one that shows brief flashes of a rather raging old-tyme party (Ragtime! Some dude breathing fire! A horse!), then ends with a brief scene of the Mumford guys sitting amid the subsequent aftermath, suitcases and bowler hats strewn about. As the clip fades to black, fans are shown a series of five signal flags that spell out the word "Babel."
It's not clear whether "Babel" refers to the title of the upcoming album, or is perhaps the name of its first single, though clearly, Mumford are up to something (eagle-eyed fans have also noticed that a second set of flags featured in the video spell out the word "Tour"), and they're going about it in an appropriately anachronistic manner. For those not up on the Old Testament, "Babel" is the Hebrew name for Babylon, the location where a massive tower was set to be built, only to be halted when God "confounded ... the language of all the earth."
A spokesperson for Mumford told MTV News there was no confirmation on the title of the band's new album (or new single). Mumford & Sons also announced that they'd be expanding their U.S. tour, which previously had only included four stops on their so-called "Gentlemen of the Road" mini-fest. The new dates kick off August 1 in Hoboken, New Jersey, and run until September 1, with an appearance at the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Festival in Colorado.
