- Screenwriter Nora Ephron Dead At 71
Oscar-nominated writer of 'Sleepless in Seattle' and 'When Harry Met Sally ... ' died of pneumonia.
By Josh WiglerAcademy Award-nominated screenwriter and director Nora Ephron died Tuesday (June 26) from pneumonia. She was 71. News of Ephron's passing first hit the Internet late Tuesday when journalist Liz Smith, a friend of Ephron's, published a column remembering the late director.
"She never gave the answer I expected to anything. She was grave in her humor, which made it deadly, unexpected, truly funny and dauntingly intelligent," wrote Smith. "She seemed never to want or expect anything, while always demanding the best from the rest of us. She was — always — right and somehow left the smartest, most ambitious and silliest of us in the dust at her feet."
Ephron lived a storied life both on set and behind the scenes. Born in New York City in 1941 and raised in Beverly Hills, California, Ephron worked as a journalist for numerous years before trying her hand writing and directing for film. Her writing appeared in such outlets as Esquire and New York, and she was even married to Carl Bernstein of Watergate fame from 1976 until 1980. She later wed screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi in 1987; they remained married until the time of her death.
In 1983, Ephron's first major Hollywood movie, "Silkwood," arrived in theaters. Starring marquee names including Meryl Streep, Kurt Russell and Cher, Ephron's "Silkwood" was based on the true story of Karen Silkwood, who was killed in a suspicious accident during her investigation into the unethical practices of the nuclear power plant that employed her. The film was nominated for five Oscars, including one for Ephron's screenplay.
Over the course of her career, Ephron cemented her place in Hollywood as one of the industry's finest romantic comedy writers. She wrote the iconic "When Harry Met Sally ... " and directed numerous films, including the Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan-starring "Sleepless in Seattle" and "You've Got Mail." Her final film as writer and director was "Julie & Julia."
"I won't say, 'Rest in peace, Nora,' " Smith wrote in her eulogy of Ephron. "I will just ask, 'What the hell will we do without you?' "

Channing Tatum in "Magic Mike"
Photo:If you're not yet familiar with the year's sexiest movie about male strippers, "Magic Mike," then you've been deliberately avoiding the very fun subject. The R-rated film is loosely based on star Channing Tatum's stripper past, directed by Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh, and features a very attractive ensemble cast. When MTV News caught up with Tatum and co-star Matthew McConaughey recently, we asked them to reveal which parts of their characters' stripper attire proved most cumbersome during filming.
"You were always in comfy, comfy stuff," McConaughey pointed out about Tatum's wardrobe.
"Yeah, but that was sort of my own thing when I actually did it, because when I actually danced, I did a Boy Scout outfit, and I thought it was the lamest thing ever," Tatum recalled. "And I did a clown thing. But my favorite thing I did [was a dance to an] Usher [song], and I was just like, 'No I'm going to pick the song that I like. I'm going to dress like the song should be dressed for,' and that was it. I wanted to be normal; I didn't want to do the kinda iconic stripper things."
"It's a great wardrobe, isn't it?" McConaughey continued, speaking of the cast's various glittery outfits, thongs and tight booty shorts. "I loved getting the wardrobe together."
"The tassels were my favorite," Tatum said of a specific detail on one of McConaughey's thongs.
"The tassels, yes a lot of talk, but a lot of work, a lot of hours went into the tassels on Dallas' thong," he recalled with a smile. "The length of the tassel, the thickness of the tassel, what does it reveal, what does it not."
"It had to be perfect," Tatum said.
All this happy talk about their tiny outfits prompted us to ask whether they kept any of the creative costumes.
"I kept all of my stuff," McConaughey said without missing a beat.
"All of it," Tatum agreed. "Come on, we've got wives now."

'This album Ludaversal, it's all about progression,' Ludacris tells MTV News
By Rob Markman, with reporting by Christina GaribaldiHard to imagine that Ludacris can get any bigger, but with more than a dozen years in the rap game, Luda is looking to take things to another level on his next album.
"This album Ludaversal, it's all about progression. We're taking it to heights that you never, ever seen before," the Atlanta MC told MTV News earlier this month at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Tennessee.
It's been two years since Luda dropped Battle of the Sexes, and the rapper/actor aims to catch his fans up on all of his goings-on. "I've had seven albums, so right now it's about trying to go places that I haven't been. I've traveled over the world for the past year and I brought a lot of experiences back with me and put 'em in the music," he said. "I've had a lot of personal experiences, so you're going to get to know the real me and things that have been going on over the past three or four years."
When it comes to MCing, you'd be hard-pressed to find a rapper more skilled than Luda. Still, as an artist, he has been able to grow and venture into the world of pop thanks to key collaborations with Justin Bieber, Enrique Iglesias and David Guetta.
With Ludaversal, Cris said he will continue to grow and branch out musically while still keeping things deeply rooted in hip-hop. The album's first single, "Jingalin," is an LL Cool J-inspired dance record, but Luda will keep things interesting with records with Usher and David Guetta as well.
While Ludaversal doesn't have an official release date, Cris said he hopes to drop it on his birthday, September 11.

This week's "Twilight" Tuesday is dedicated to our favorite bits of "Twilight" news percolating around the Internets:
"Breaking Dawn - Part 2" To Open Comic-Con
As was expected, Summit announced that "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" will once again take San Diego Comic-Con by storm. The film will kick off the festivities in the convention center's massive Hall H as the very first panel on Thursday, July 12. As many of us remember fondly, Hall H was the site of the franchise's first-ever Comic-Con appearance back in 2008, when thousands of excited fans made the pilgrimage to San Diego to see the cast assembled together for the first time. No word yet on which castmembers will be making the trip to the Con, but because it's in support of their last "Twilight" movie, we're betting on seeing most, if not all, of our favorites.Kellan Lutz Gets Animated
Kellan Lutz is lending his voice to Seth MacFarlane and the cast of "Family Guy." According to Entertainment Weekly, Lutz will appear on an upcoming episode as a love interest for Meg Griffin (voiced by Mila Kunis) as a hunky high school football player Meg fantasizes about. The show's executive producer Mark Hentemann told EW that although Meg convinces him to go on a date with her, Lutz's character has ulterior motives — an interest in one of the other Griffins. Lutz reportedly made a great impression on everyone when he recorded his part. "[He] got into the role and walked that line perfectly," Hentemann said. "He was great. He was very handsome."Teaser Trailer Postmortem

Chicago rapper reveals the title of his latest project exclusively to MTV News.
By Nadeska AlexisChicago has bred plenty of legendary hip-hop artists, but the city's youngest crop of rappers are ready to usher in a new era for the Midwest. Among those leading the pack is Rockie Fresh, who will follow up his January mixtape Driving 88 with a new project titled Electric Highway this fall.
The 21-year-old Southside native has released several notable mixtapes over the past few years, including 2011's The Otherside Redux and this year's Driving 88, which found him collaborating with Casey Veggies and fellow Chi-town rapper King Louie. But Rockie's confident that current recording sessions will result in his best work yet.
"It's called Electric Highway," Rockie told MTV News exclusively, revealing the title. "I always want to do original music even if it's a mixtape, so it's definitely a free album, but all of the records are going to be original. With me getting older and seeing different parts of the world, my content is always going to be evolving, so this is going to be the peak of Rockie Fresh. Out of all of the stuff that I've done, I think this is going to be my best work and I'm really looking forward to dropping it."
Rockie's fans will certainly be looking forward to the project, as will a few industry heavyweights who also have their eye on the young rapper. During a visit to New York City's Hot 97 radio station this week, Maybach Music Group CEO Rick Ross sent a "shout out to the lil' homie Rockie Fresh," adding, "I'm a fan of his music." And even though Rozay confirmed that Rockie hasn't been signed to MMG "as of now," they certainly have a good relationship going.
"That was crazy," Rockie told MTV News just hours after the shout-out from Ross. "Me and him, we've been talking a lot back and forth. That's definitely one of my big homies."
While Rockie continues to explore his label options, you'd better believe that he'll stay buried in his work. While on tour over the past few months, he gave fans the chance to keep up with his everyday grind through the vlog series "Life on the Otherside."
"[It's] to let people know that sh-- is real," he said matter-of-factly. "A lot of people utilize the Internet to stunt and it kind of gets old after a while. I really want people to see my climb, to really respect the work ethic that goes into it, and even for them just to be motivated by it. [It's] to let other young artists know that the struggle is something everybody has to go through. It's not a smooth road, so I just feel like it's dope to really show people the real picture."

Singer will drop Big Sean collabo, 'As Long as You Love Me,' in July.
By Jocelyn VenaJustin Bieber has officially picked his next single off Believe. The singer will release his Big Sean collabo, "As Long as You Love Me," to radio on July 9, Billboard.com reports.
The song is the first official follow-up to his single "Boyfriend" and has already seen some movement on the charts after Bieber released it as a promo single on June 11 in the lead-up to his June 19 album release. It charted at #21 on the Hot 100, banking 168,000 downloads. The song will get a major push on Top 40 and rhythmic radio stations in the coming weeks.
"Bieber's a true G. People may not know that," Big Sean told MTV News about working with the 18-year-old on the Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins-produced track. "He is a good dude, man. And I ain't toning down nothing. I'm diverse — I can write raps to any type of song."
MTV News recently chatted with Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, about the album's potential next single, and he shared that "As Long as You Love Me" was at the top of the list of candidates to get the official single treatment.
"We haven't picked the next single," he said. "We're gonna see how different songs react off the album. 'As Long as You Love Me' [with Big Sean] is getting a lot of love, so is 'All Around the World' [with Ludacris]. So is 'Die in Your Arms.' 'Beauty and the Beat' is coming with the album. We're gonna see what the next single is. We're gonna figure that out."
In addition to preparing to shoot a video for the track, Bieber is also still in promo mode, spreading the word about his album, as well as prepping for his world tour, which kicks off in September in the U.S.
"The tour starts at the end of September ... by the end of 2013 we're gonna hit the whole world," Braun explained. "He has been watching a tremendous amount of Michael Jackson concerts from the '80s and '90s. And he has been talking to me about how Michael incorporated magic and pyro and reveals and he wants to bring in that. [But] still do that acoustic thing, but he wants to take it to a whole new level.
"It's just really exciting," he continued. "Nothing makes him happier than being onstage. So it's gonna be fun to get back onto the road. I think he was an amazing performer before, but his level of dance and musicianship and his range [has grown]. He's a veteran now. I think he wants to take it to a completely new level."

Rozay, Wale, Meek Mill, French Montana, Omarion and Stalley will all be in the building to sit and chop it up with host Sway Calloway on a very luxurious episode of "RapFix Live." On Tuesday (June 26) the MMG crew released their Self Made Vol. 2 label compilation. The LP, led by the T-Pain-assisted single "Bag of Money," features appearances from Nas, T.I., Wiz Khalifa, Kendrick Lamar and Bun B.
The compilation sets up a very busy summer for Rozay and his boys. On July 31 Ross will drop his long-awaited God Forgives, I Don't LP, and Meek Mill is prepping his debut, Dreams and Nightmares, for an August 28 release. French Montana's Excuse My French is also scheduled to drop later this year.
Back in May Ross held a press conference in New York City to announce his label's release dates and the signing of R&B star and former B2K frontman Omarion. "I think it was a great day for hip-hop. It was a great energy for hip-hop," Ross told MTV News of the MMG press conference. "When you reflect on hip-hop on a boss level, for the last 10 years, the business of hip-hop has been kinda shaky, it's been in a decline. ... I think this was a new energy that the hip-hop game needed, a momentum change."

'When Harry Met Sally ... ' and 'Sleepless In Seattle' writer is not expected to survive the night, TMZ reports.
By Josh WiglerNora Ephron, the writer of iconic romantic comedies "When Harry Met Sally ... " and "Sleepless in Seattle" among other hit films, is reportedly "gravely ill" and "not expected to make it through the night."
TMZ reports that family members are currently telling close friends of the writer/director "there is little hope that [Ephron] will recover from her current condition." The nature of her illness is not currently known, though it's been reported that Ephron is suffering from leukemia.
Word of Ephron's condition first hit the Internet on Tuesday (June 26) by way of an article published by journalist Liz Smith, a close friend of the legendary Hollywood screenwriter. In the column, Smith writes about Ephron as though she has already passed away, praising her friend's "grave" and "unexpected" humor.
Shortly after publication of Smith's column, Ephron's former close friend Margo Howard wrote on Twitter: "A very accomplished writer died. Nora Ephron, from cancer."
Ephron's publisher Knopf later told The New York Times that Ephron is "still alive," according to a tweet from Times writer Julie Bosman. Knopf rep Elizabeth Lindsay said as much in a statement to the Atlantic Wire: "It's pretty critical. She's not doing well, but she's certainly alive ... The report she has passed away is not correct."

The "Hunger Games" starlet was walking her dog outside her L.A. apartment complex Monday when she stumbled upon a young woman lying on her back on the lawn. According to X17, Lawrence raced over to help the young woman while someone nearby called the paramedics.
A photographer on the scene told the photo agency, "Jennifer ran outside her apartment when she heard a girl scream and immediately called 911. When the EMT arrived, she stayed to make sure everything was OK. She was really scared for the girl."
The Santa Monica Police Department told TMZ, "The young lady who collapsed was a juvenile and was part of a group that was together," adding that "alcohol may have played a role in the incident."
Lawrence, sporting a casual look in gray sweatpants and a black tank top, got on the ground to assist the woman and stayed by her side until paramedics arrived. It's unclear why the woman was in front of Lawrence's property, but paramedics treated the unidentified woman on the scene, and she was then cleared to leave.
Lawrence isn't the only celebrity who has played superhero recently: Patrick Dempsey came to the rescue a little less than two months ago, saving a teenager who crashed his car outside the "Grey's Anatomy" star's house.
Lawrence is gearing up to reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen in the "Hunger Games" sequel "Catching Fire," slated to hit theaters in November 2013.

Переслать - Maroon 5 'Born Again' With Pop-Heavy Overexposed
'It's sort of like, 'Screw you ... deal with it. Come with us on this journey or bye,' ' Adam Levine says of the album's pop leanings.
By James Montgomery
Maroon 5's James Valentine and Adam Levine
Photo:The first thing you'll probably notice about Maroon 5's Overexposed album is the lengthy list of collaborators attached to it: a Murderer's Row of pop hitmakers like Ryan Tedder, Shellback and Benny Blanco, with Max Martin helming it all as executive producer.
The second thing you'll probably notice is that it's called Overexposed. Because, reinvigorated by the worldwide success of their hit "Moves Like Jagger" — which marked the first time the band had written with outside sources (in this case Blanco and Shellback) — M5 make no bones about the fact that, this time out, they're aiming to become the most popular, inescapable and, yes, overexposed band on the planet.
"The title is kind of pre-emptively saying, 'Hey, we're overexposed. Deal with it,' " frontman Adam Levine told MTV News during the premiere of M5's new "One More Night" video. "Bands like to do this thing where they're like, 'Oh, man, we just didn't know. Oh my God, it's so crazy, we just wrote this song,' and that's true, but we like that. We want to have that experience, we want to have hits, we want to have songs that, internationally, people are going to know.
"It's exciting when you go to a country you've never been to, when you go to Jakarta, and they're singing the lyrics to 'Payphone,' it's so cool," he continued. "And that's something that we not only love, but we pursue, unabashedly. Our sense of purpose was very dialed in. ... We knew what we wanted, we knew in our minds how to achieve it on an album ... and I think we found it."
And, in a lot of ways, it's fitting that Overexposed (in stores now) comes exactly 10 years after the release of Maroon 5's debut disc, Songs About Jane. Because ever since that album, they've been hearing complaints from fans who want them to return to their roots. The difference now is that they no longer listen to those complaints. Backed by the biggest names in the pop business, Maroon 5 are going for greatness these days, and like it or not, they're not going to change course anytime soon.
"Songs About Jane was alienating a certain amount of our fanbase back then, and if we're not alienating a small percentage of our fanbase every time we make a record, we're doing something wrong," Levine said. "And usually, I find that people who complain about wanting that original sound would be the same people where, if you had a record that sounded like the first one, they would say, 'Why don't you guys branch out and change a little bit?' So it's sort of like, 'Screw you ... deal with it. Come with us on this journey or bye!'
"When you've been in a band for a decade, even longer, you start thinking, 'OK, well maybe now we should explore this or change things up,' because you don't want to have it sound formulaic or too much like what you've always done," he continued. "So we're totally cool with kind of being born again. ... At the heart of it, it still sounds like us, but we embrace this side of our band, and now that we've fully captured it on this record, we're going to see what happens, and I think it's going to be really positive."

Andrew Garfield in "Amazing Spider-Man"
Photo:Among his many powers, Spider-Man has one "Amazing" gift that perhaps you don't already know about: He is a skilled skateboarder.
Andrew Garfield, the British actor filling out Peter Parker's shoes in director Marc Webb's "Amazing Spider-Man," brought many ideas to the superhero reboot's table, including his character's proficiency with a skateboard. Speaking with MTV News, Garfield said that "a lot changed" over the course of shooting "Spider-Man," including his very own idea to have Spidey wield a board at numerous points throughout the movie.
"It was my idea that this iteration of Peter would skateboard, maybe because I skateboarded when I was a kid, and it's something personal to me," the actor said at the "Amazing Spider-Man" press junket. "It linked in so nicely with being able to activate the powers in a new way."
Garfield teamed up with director Spike Jonze's Girl and Chocolate Skateboards and persuaded the powers that be to include scenes of Peter messing around with skateboards, adding some levity to an otherwise "heavy" script.
"What's always been important about Spider-Man to me is the lightness, the humor and the enjoyment of a teenage kid getting these powers. In reality, what would happen?" he said. "We pitched the idea to [the Spider-Man producers] and they shot it. I thought that was awesome."
Another scene that changed due to Garfield's input: the infamous carjacking sequence that sees Peter in full Spidey regalia for the first time, webbing up and taunting a criminal with lots of laughs and very little restraint.
"That was important to me, in terms of the humor, the wit, finding the power of anonymity," he said. "That was a fun night, because it was all improvised and free. There was nothing scripted about that. That was awesome."
Overall, Garfield found the entirety of "Spider-Man" to be "a forever evolving process," thanks in large to Webb's place at the head of the film.
"It was all changing," said the actor. "Marc set up an environment where we could play, and that was really, really nice."

Many call Texan teen, who built up fanbase on social media, the next Bieber.
By Tami KatzoffWhat do you call a group of kids who are so fiercely loyal to their young pop idol that they buy up all available tickets to a show in minutes, journey from far-off locales and park themselves on a sidewalk for hours just so they can get a glimpse of their beloved teenage Texan? Are they Beliebers? Of course not — Justin Bieber is Canadian, not Texan. They're Mahomies.
Mahomies are fans of 16-year-old Austin Mahone, the boy many believe will be crowned the Next Justin. The similarities are there: Both are fresh-faced, drum-playing crooners who built their massive fandom using social media and YouTube. And both are followed everywhere by throngs of screaming girls.
But Austin Mahone does something that most fledgling pop stars don't: When his fans reach out to him, he reaches back. He follows them on Twitter. He keeps them updated on his comings and goings through video posts and Instagrams. He even Skypes with fans, one-on-one (for a fee). "Individually, they all give something to support me, which got me to where I am right now," Mahone told MTV News. "I just want to give back to them as much as I can and say thank you."
Mahone has no debut album yet and, as of press time, no label on which to release one. He does have two singles, "11:11" and "Say Somethin," which can be purchased on iTunes. He also has more than 777,000 Twitter followers and nearly half a million Facebook fans. Nicolette Valenti, 14, flew to New York from Boca Raton, Florida, to see Austin's sold-out show at Best Buy Theater on Friday; she said she would do anything to be around him. "Some girls just like him because he's cute," Valenti explained. "But I think he's really talented."
Mahone's journey to stardom began two years ago, when he started making videos with his friend Alex Constancio and posting them on YouTube. Then he started doing covers of artists like Bruno Mars, Adele and yes, Justin Bieber. His online fame steadily grew; he began making personal appearances and doing live shows. He's since relocated from Texas to Miami to work on new music.
"Coming from my bedroom in San Antonio to this big world and going from singing covers off my laptop to making music in this nice studio, making professional-sounding music — it's just weird," Mahone said. "It's crazy. I can't believe that happened."
The inevitable comparisons to Mr. Bieber don't seem to bother him too much. "I mean, it's flattering. It's not that bad of a thing," he said. "It's cool because he's such an inspiration to me and he's so successful, and I just hope that I'll be as successful as him someday." The comparisons do, however, bother many Mahomies.
"People say that Austin is the new Justin Bieber — I don't think that at all," said 14-year-old Maggie Benzenhafer as she waited on the sidewalk outside the Best Buy Theater. "I think Austin's going to be the new Austin Mahone."

'[Our songs] can be felt on so many different levels,' Chester Bennington says of LP's latest, in stores Tuesday.
By James MontgomeryWhen Linkin Park began the process of making LIVING THINGS, they weren't sure where the journey would take them ... after all, the last time they headed down this path — on 2010's A Thousand Suns — their voyage ended up in decidedly dystopian territory: It was, for all intents and purposes, an album that sounded like a sonic apocalypse, and dealt with similarly dark themes.
But to be honest, that didn't dissuade them. Because, as they've discovered over their 15-year career, creative uncertainty is practically par for the course. It truly seems that Linkin Park don't know what kind of album they're making until it's done. And even then, sometimes they're still not sure.
"When we're writing a record, there's a misconception [that] maybe [we're] thinking of something, and planning a goal, trying to imagine a song and then making a song," Mike Shinoda told MTV News during "MTV First: Linkin Park." "That's not how we work. We basically sit down with instruments and try to pull it down out of the air. You go into it without thinking, and then you see what comes out. And in the process of making the last record, a lot of what was popping out was about nuclear war, stuff like that. I think, having gotten that out of our system, this record, when we sat down to write songs, it was always personal, and it kept happening."
And while most of the advance press about LIVING THINGS (in stores Tuesday) seemed to focus on LP ditching the political for the personal, that may not actually be the case. Because Linkin Park keep coming back to the idea of uncertainty ... to them, the songs on their new album are meant to be taken however their fans choose to take them. Sure, they may be drawing from the personal, but they're meant for the masses. Pure and simple. And though they've changed plenty over the years, that aspect of their music remains steadfastly, immutably unaltered.
"You can look at a song like 'CASTLE OF GLASS,' which for me, has one of the most interesting opposing points of view," Chester Bennington said. "When Mike was talking about the lyrics, at one point he had said, 'You know, it's kind of like finding yourself as this broken part of this big machine, and feeling like you're not part of that, or trying to find your place in the bigger scheme of things.' And that can mean a solider coming home from war, and trying to fit back into society, or a person getting out of prison, or whatever.
"And here I am, envisioning this big, beautiful glass castle on a hill, and, like, unicorns. I'm thinking like 'Yeah, if you zoom in, I'm this little broken part of this castle that no one knows about, and I may seem like flawed and not important, but when you back up and look at the big picture, you're part of this really beautiful thing that keeps you together," he continued. "And it was a really interesting twist; I think a lot of our lyrics can be taken from multiple perspectives, depending on what you want the song to be about ... they can be felt on so many different levels."

Previously played by Morgan Freeman in "Kiss the Girls" and "Along Came a Spider," Cross gets a younger makeover in the Perry-starring flick, as well as an impossibly ripped homicidal-maniac nemesis in the form of "Lost" veteran Matthew Fox.
The trailer is all kinds of bonkers, with Fox shouting out sadistic one-liners and threatening women like it's his job (in this case, it actually is) and Perry doing everything he can to hold it together while going up against one of the most ruthless psychopaths this side of Madea. Keep reading for five key scenes from the trailer!
Tyler Perry's Alex Cross
If there's one word to describe Perry's take on the sharp-minded detective, it's "smooth." The trailer introduces us to a cool and composed Alex sipping drinks with his wife; she needs some convincing to leave Detroit and join Cross on his next assignment. His proposed method of getting her to come with him? "The National Guard and a drink." You had me at "the"!He Had to Go Back
Fox wholeheartedly embraces his inner Heath-Joker in the "Alex Cross" trailer, playing Michael "The Butcher" Sullivan, a killer who is "fascinated by pain." Cross determines that Sullivan is "ex-military, special forces, judging by his tactics." He's also an Ultimate Fighting Champion, if you can believe it, and has a thing for Doctor Cross' very pretty wife. It's an unusual new shade for the actor most commonly associated with good guys Jack Shephard and Charlie Salinger, but it'll be a fascinating transformation — or train wreck — to behold.Feel the Burns
Just don't get too distracted by Fox's villainy. Also starring in "Alex Cross" is "Saving Private Ryan" and "Entourage" actor Edward Burns as Cross' partner, Tommy Kane. It's weird seeing Burns in a third-tier role at best; as a writer and director by trade, he tends to be somewhat choosy with his acting roles. (Ignore that "27 Dresses" credit.) So I'm calling it now: Burns is the real bad guy pulling Fox's strings. Then again, I incorrectly called Jeremy Renner as the secret "Mission: Impossible" villain and Jared Harris as a red herring for the real Moriarty in the last "Sherlock Holmes" movie, so take my predictions with a half-cup serving of salt.Matthew Fox and the Chocolate Factory
Watch at around the two-minute mark as Fox gets his high-tech Augustus Gloop on. If you need further reasons to see "Alex Cross" when it hits theaters this October, I don't know what to tell you.To Hell and Back Again
"He won't stop. I've seen his face. I've heard his voice," Perry's Cross warns his wife of Fox's killer. "I will meet his soul at the gates of Hell before I let him take a person that I love!" If there's a better alternate ending to "Lost" or the "Madea" films than Tyler Perry and Matthew Fox battling to the death for Satan's amusement, I haven't heard of it. The trailer's action-packed finale is, in a word, surreal, every bit as oddly enjoyable as the promise of Perry versus Fox sounds on paper. This demonic battle of the ages cannot come soon enough.Tell us what you think of the "Alex Cross" trailer in the comments below!

G-Unit CEO was taken to a Queens, New York, hospital after his SUV was rear-ended Tuesday morning.
By Rob MarkmanA month after 50 Cent was hospitalized with a blockage in his small intestine, Fif was back in the hospital Tuesday morning (June 26), this time after a car accident. He has since been released and is back on the mend.
"Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson was involved in a car accident in New York early Tuesday morning. He was taken to New York Hospital Queens where he was treated for minor neck and back injuries," said a spokesperson for the rapper in a statement given to MTV News. "He was released this morning and is doing fine."
The rapper's website Thisis50 broke the story early Tuesday morning, though the details are thin. The site reported that the Get Rich or Die Tryin' MC's bullet-proof SUV almost flipped over after it was rear-ended by a Mack truck while driving on the Long Island Expressway in New York City.
The site published multiple pictures of 50 on a stretcher with a neck brace. There are also pictures of 50's mangled SUV as well as photos of the truck that is said to have caused the accident.
50 famously survived a 2000 attack in which he was shot nine times and in 2003 dropped his classic major-label debut Get Rich or Die Tryin'. Fif has since built himself as one of rap's biggest draws and smartest business minds, crafting lucrative deals in music and merchandising. Fif's latest mixtape The Lost Tape was released in May and on July 3 the G-Unit Records CEO will be releasing his oft-delayed fifth studio album 5 (Murder By Numbers).

Canadian pop singer describes writing song with Redfoo over the phone.
By Jocelyn VenaCarly Rae Jepsen has captured America's collective eardrums with her inescapable hit "Call Me Maybe," teasing just what pop lovers might hear on her in-the-works full-length debut, set for release in September.
In addition to her duet with Owl City on "Good Time" and an already-teased collaboration with her boss, Justin Bieber, the singer has shared that she is also working with LMFAO party rocker Redfoo on the fall release.
"I ran into Redfoo from LMFAO at the airport," she told Billboard magazine, via Ace Showbiz, about the collaboration, explaining that they've been writing together over the phone. So he called her, no maybes about it. "And we've been writing a song together today. Over the phone.
"What I really love about music is that despite all this craziness, the creative process remains the same," she continued. "And that same exciting feeling I had before anybody knew me, when I was just beginning to work on 'Call Me Maybe,' is the same feeling I had today with Redfoo from LMFAO."
Later this year, in addition to dropping her album, she'll also be hitting the road with Bieber on his massive Believe tour, kicking off in September.
"It's not that I didn't have my dream show built in my head before all of this — it's just that I never had the resources together to actually put it to life," she said. "I feel very giddy with the idea of making my imagination take form and being able to put on a show where people leave feeling like they've experienced something."

Photo:It's no secret that the Flaming Lips have their sights set on the Guinness World Record for most concerts performed in multiple cities in a 24-hour time period. The innovative rockers have just announced they will be joined by "Jackass" and "Wildboyz" star Chris Pontius, Jackson Browne, Neon Trees, Karmin and a slew of additional artists as they gun for the record, currently held by Jay-Z, who played seven shows from Atlanta to L.A. in 2006.
The Flaming Lips and friends plan to play eight shows from Memphis, Tennessee, to New Orleans, beginning Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET and continuing for 24 hours. The gigs will take place in conjunction with the O Music Awards, a 24-hour awards ceremony that will be broadcast on MTV, VH1 and CMT and livestream at Omusicawards.com. The Flaming Lips will jump aboard their aptly named bus, "Endeavor," and travel to each new location just as the opening band is finishing its set. They'll perform what promises to be a raucous and exciting mini-set before moving on to the next location.
The O Music Awards ceremony will give out 24 awards, one for each hour of the festival. Categories that artists are vying to win include Must Follow Artist on Twitter, Best Online Concert Experience, Most Adorable Viral Star, Fan Army FTW, Best Music App and Digital Genius Award.
"The O Music Awards are all about celebrating the wonderfully messy and soulful spirit of music," said Van Toffler, President of Viacom's Music and Logo Group. "This insane bus brigade and the assorted collection of artists and pranksters that are taking part not only make me incredibly happy, but pretty much sum up what a good 24 hour binge should involve, minus the libations."
Along with the pomp and circumstance of winning awards, the first 12 installments of Stop/Watch will air during the concerts. Stop/Watch is a 60-second online music series in which artists have one minute flat to perform a complete song — with a countdown clock running! The first 12 Stop/Watch artists are: Joseph Arthur, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Citizen's Band, John Forte, the Hives, Rhett Miller, Miracles of Modern Science, Peasant, Punch Brothers, Saint Motel, P.T. Walkley and the Wombats.
Tickets to all of the O Music Awards shows can be purchased here. You can also catch the show live on your smart phone through the mobile web or the MTV News app.

British singer/songwriter says he was surprised by 'how cool' Swift is.
By Jocelyn VenaIf you still don't know who 21-year-old British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran is, then you might want to bone up. The folkie up-and-comer is already being embraced by some of the biggest pop acts on the planet as he launches a full-on U.S. invasion of his own.
Having already worked with the boys of One Direction on their album Up All Night, he revealed he's going to work with the guys again later this summer as they prep their sophomore release.
"I wrote a couple of songs when I was 17 that One Direction want for their next album," he said, via Perez Hilton. "I'm going into the studio in August to produce the tracks for them."
In addition to working with the British boy banders, he also recently hit the studio with Taylor Swift, as she prepares her follow-up to Speak Now, her smash 2010 release.
"It's such a pleasure to have people like her in the music industry — she has the talent and is so down to earth, head and shoulders," he told Pop Crush, adding that he was surprised by "just how cool she was."
He went on to say that he was taken aback by her maturity when they hit the studio together. "I've never really met acts like [her]. You meet people like Elton [John] who have been in the game for 30-40 years who are wise and old and been at it for a long time — and Taylor's been in it for six years and she's 22," he explained. "And you hear horror stories about younger musicians who kind of go a bit off the rails, but she's so together and so kind of professional and knows what she wants, but ... isn't too harsh — she's just a really sweet gentle person — so yeah, that's what surprised me, is that she was sound."
Sheeran recently dropped his own debut album, +, Stateside, where he landed at #5 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart.

Perry's 'Part of Me' documentary gives fans a candid look at the demise of her relationship with Russell Brand.

Katy Perry in the "Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D" trailer
Photo:It's been a whirlwind of a year for pop superstar Katy Perry. In 2011, she earned six #1 singles off her Teenage Dream album, embarked on a worldwide tour and endured a very public breakup from Russell Brand.
And now fans can share all these experiences and more as Perry is set to release her 3-D documentary, "Part of Me," on July 5th. The movie chronicles her unparalleled year as she has career highs, but suffers personal lows.
And it's those very personal moments, especially with Brand, that many will find most surprising. For the past six months, Perry has been mum on the issue of her divorce, and now for the first time, she is opening up about the split.
The film picks up just a few months after the two tied the knot, as Perry embarks on her biggest tour to date, the California Dreams Tour. Fans witness Perry put in hours of hard work preparing for the tour and traveling to hundreds of different cities. Yet, with the success that she was having onstage, it was offstage where things were falling apart.
It seems her new marriage and a grueling tour schedule were not mixing well, but it was not from lack of trying: Perry was adamant that while on her nearly yearlong tour, she take time out to see her husband, but in the end, it just couldn't save the marriage.
At one point, while flying to one of her tour stops, Perry admits to the camera, "I'm trying to keep my marriage alive."
"Part of Me" gives fans a rare glimpse inside a celebrity marriage, with Brand featured throughout the film. Some moments are touching, like when the comedian comes to wish her well on the opening night of her tour, yet some are heartbreaking to watch. In one scene, Perry is crying uncontrollably, delaying the start time of the concert, but like a true professional, she chokes back the tears and puts on a brave face for her fans.
Perry talks candidly about Brand in the film, revealing that it was her skyrocketing career that could have played into the downfall of her marriage. "I thought to myself, 'When I find that person that's going to be my life partner, I won't ever have to choose [between the partner and my career]. They won't be threatened or have weird motives.' Then I started to realize, that's not true," she admits. Yet, when asked in the film whether she still misses Brand, Perry begins to cry and admits that she does, but says she did everything she could to make it work.
"I have that same belief system with everything, from career to my life to my personal life, everything. And I will do everything it takes to not fail," she shares. "And I did everything it took, but it still failed."
Perry recently told MTV News that even though the subject of her divorce is difficult to deal with, she felt she would be doing her fans a disservice if she didn't include it in the film.
"The truth will always prevail," Perry said. "Everything has to be handled integrously and appropriately, and it's not nice to air all your dirty laundry, because that stinks, so I had to be very delicate with the situation, but I couldn't avoid the elephant in the room," she explained. "If you were to have seen that movie and walked out and [my breakup] wasn't at all mentioned, like it never happened, you'd be like, 'Eh, this is weird. What is she trying to hide?' I don't like to hide."

Mia Wasikowska is reportedly no longer being considered for role in 'Hunger Games' sequel.
By Kevin P. SullivanFans of "The Hunger Games" have been keeping a close eye on two yet-to-be-cast roles in the upcoming sequel "Catching Fire" as the follow-up gets ready to move into production. Rumors about the part of Finnick Odair have floated around for months, but talk about who might be cast as Johanna Mason has only picked up this week.
The latest word on who might play the former champion for District 7 comes from Entertainment Weekly, which is reporting that Jena Malone is in the running for the role.
Last week, the first rumors about the role began to circulate. According to the Playlist, both Mia Wasikowska and model Zoe Aggeliki were in the mix for Johanna. In its report about Malone, EW also confirmed that Wasikowska was neither in the running nor able to fit "Catching Fire" into her schedule.
Malone, who recently appeared in the wildly popular "Hatfields & McCoys" miniseries, is 27 years old, making her the appropriate age to play Johanna, who Katniss at one point describes as being like a big sister, albeit one who hates her.
Johanna is a master of manipulation. She won her first tournament by pretending to be weak and non-threatening until there were fewer tributes left in the arena. Seizing the opportunity, she revealed herself as a proficient killer. When she first meets Katniss in the arena, she memorably strips naked in order to make Jennifer Lawrence's character uncomfortable.
No new additions to the cast have been officially announced for the Francis Lawrence-directed sequel to this year's massive blockbuster. Lionsgate is not currently commenting on casting.
"Catching Fire" will open in theaters on November 22, 2013.
