Переслать - 'Snow White,' 'Piranha 3DD,' And More: Double Feature Friday!
"Snow White and the Huntsmans" definitely brings a new spin to a fairy tale, but it's certainly not the first to tell an old story in a new way. It's not even the first one to cast the awesome Bob Hoskins in it. We fill you in on what's playing and what you should be watching in this week's Double Feature Friday!
"Snow White and the Huntsman" & "Hook"
It's unfortunate that in "Snow White and the Huntsman" it takes so long for the dwarves to show up, because once they do, you realize the rest of the film could have used a cast of top-grade British character actors. Chief among them is Bob Hoskins, as the blind dwarf Muir. Hoskins previously starred in another revisionist fairy tale, Steven Spielberg's Peter Pan sequel "Hook," where he stole the show as Smee. He even reprised his role in last year's BBC prequel miniseries, "Neverland.""Piranha 3DD" & "Adventureland"
The young actor Matt Bush actually stars in both "Piranha 3DD" and "High School," so it only seems appropriate to praise his best role to date as the nut-punching best friend in the severely under-seen "Adventureland." The comedy starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart delivers so many good laughs and so much heart that it's a wonder that Greg Mottola's follow-up to "Superbad" isn't held in higher regard. Both Eisenberg and Stewart prove that they are so much more than a collection of ticks and neuroses and are actually two of the best actors of their generation."High School" & "Pineapple Express"
In the stoner flick genre, no movie in recent years holds a candle (or joint) up to David Gordon Green's "Pineapple Express." The former art house wunderkind still held onto many of his indie sensibilities when he crossed over with this comedy starring Seth Rogan and James Franco. "Pineapple Express" may not seem like it on the surface, but many of the same qualities that made Green's indie movies classics are nestled in there next to the jokes about cross-joints.What are you watching this weekend? Переслать - Can Straight Guys Enjoy Magic Mike? Yes, Says Channing Tatum
"Magic Mike" is a stripper movie. Starring Channing Tatum. It's not exactly the kind of movie that straight guys are going to flock to see, but during MTV Sneak Peek Week, Tatum said that guys may have more interest than they're letting on.
Tatum doesn't have any illusion about who is going to see "Magic Mike." "I don't think the dudes are going to be like, 'After the Stanley Cup, you want to go see "Magic Mike"? Want to go see this stripper movie?'" he said. "I don't think that's going to happen."
And yet, when fans ask him questions about his years as a stripper, the questions come from an unexpected place. "It's weird though. The women don't ask the questions. It's the men that actually ask me more of the questions," he said. "They really want to know. 'How much did you make? What did you do? Were you full-frontal? What did the girls do?' They want to know everything, and the girls are just like, 'Ah, we've been there.'"
Reid Carolin, the screenwriter for the film, offered up a challenge to any nay-saying guys. "I would challenge any guy to have the courage or the balls to get up on stage and do what those guys do, because it is insane," he said. "That's the thing. It's the ultimate test."
While Channing doubts straight guys will show up to theaters, his friends didn't seem to mind the stripping. "I've shown it to some of my straight friends, and they've been like, 'I forgot that they were stripping.' They weren't like, 'Oh god. He's stripping again.' It's just a little simple story."
For a live performance from the "Magic Mike" cast, tune into the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, June 3 at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.

Переслать - Kristen Stewart: 'Snow White' Speech Was Difficult
"So Bravehearty." That's how Kristen Stewart described her rousing "Snow White and the Huntsman" speech when we caught up with the actress in London last month. She revealed that director Ruper Sanders saved it for the very last day, and now she told us why.
During MTV's second annual Sneak Peek Week, co-stars Stewart and Sam Claflin stopped by to bring us an exclusive look at their film and answer fan questions. When one audience member asked the "Twilight" actress what scene was the hardest for her to shoot she recalled the speech, saying she wasn't quite prepared to recite it early on during production.
"It kept getting kicked to the end of the schedule," she said. "It was like, 'I'm so not ready for that. Just gonna put that off a little longer.' Every single day we were re-writing it. I still need to frame that thing, laminate it somehow and give it to Rupert. The different renditions of it, it's disintegrating."
While Stewart said she didn't do anything to psych herself up for the call to arms, Claflin chimed in to give credit to the actress for her wardrobe—or lack thereof—during the scene.
"The girl was wearing no shoes on one of the coldest days in English history. And was wearing like a nightie. I don't know how she did it, honestly—man power, woman power, girl power," he said with a laugh. "She did a smashing job on that."

Переслать - Will Forte: 'That's My Boy' Is Dirtier Than Previews Suggest
If you thought the exclusive clip of Adam Sandler's "That's My Boy" was dirty, you apparently haven't seen anything yet. During the MTV Movie Awards' second annual Sneak Peek Week, the cast of the R-rated comedy sat down with Josh Horowitz to discuss the film, and Will Forte revealed that it's a lot dirtier than the previews suggest.
"That's one of the tricky things about this movie," he said. "It is a dirty movie. It's a raunchy movie. If you've seen any previews for this movie you have no idea what it's about. They have to take little five second swatches here and five seconds there. It is a dirty movie. I encourage people to go to a YouTube page where you can really get a sense for what it's about."
Horowitz, who already screened the film, mentioned a particularly "amazing" scene involving Milo Ventimiglia's character—to which Vanilla Ice gave the actor a high five.
"It's so weird that Ice just high fived him for it," Andy Samberg chimed in.
The cast assured us we'll be on the inside of this joke once we see the film. We're not sure whether to be excited or nervous. But despite its dirty content, Forte adds that he had a great time working with Sandler.
"It was such a wonderful set because Adam, who's also one of my comedy heroes, would just tell you exactly what he wants," Forte said. "Then he'd let you discover some stuff on your own too and he'd just point you in the right direction. He was amazing to work with."

Переслать - Channing Tatum Confirms 'Jupiter Ascending' Casting
I think we're going to have to stop calling 2012 the year of Channing Tatum pretty soon. The actor's had a fantastic year so far, no doubt, but his future is equally bright: in 2013 he makes his long-awaited return as Duke in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," and he's got some other hotly anticipated projects in the pipeline as well… including an unlikely team-up with the makers of "The Matrix."
During MTV Sneak Peek Week ahead of Sunday night's Movie Awards telecast, the "Magic Mike" actor confirmed recent rumors that he'll be appearing in "Jupiter Ascending," the upcoming sci-fi flick from the visionary Wachowski siblings.
"Yes, absolutely," he said when asked if he'd be involved in the movie. "It's going to be a crazy action movie from the [directors] of 'The Matrix.' They're going to reinvent the wheel as far as action goes, all over again."
Tatum's confirmation comes just one day after alleged plot details were leaked by Vulture. According to the New York Magazine blog, "Jupiter Ascending" is all about "higher forms of life [who] are watching us from other, albeit this time non-meta worlds, but actual, other worlds, as in planets and moons." Mila Kunis (who also recently confirmed her participation to MTV News) is set to play a Russian immigrant "who is busily scrubbing toilets for a living. Unbeknownst to her, she actually possesses the same perfect genetic makeup as the Queen of the Universe and is therefore a threat to her otherwise immortal rule."
The report goes on to identify Tatum's character as an evolved-being bounty hunter sent to kill Kunis' character, but instead falls in love with her and attracts the ire of his genetically superior contemporaries in the process.
It goes without saying that none of these details are confirmed, save for Kunis and Tatum's casting. But if this really is the plot for "Jupiter Ascending," it sounds like Tatum is absolutely right on the money: the Wachowskis are going to be reinventing the wheel yet again.

Переслать - What Will Celebs Score In The MTV Movie Awards Gift Bag?
One of the best parts about being a celebrity is all the free stuff they get when they hit up splashy award shows, like the MTV Movie Awards taking place Sunday (June 3). And make no mistake, this year's Movie Awards gift bag is pretty impressive. It even includes one very fancy European getaway!
Among the gifts featured in the bag is the soundtrack from the MTV Movie Awards nominated "The Hunger Games," a watch from A-Line, a Logitech keyboard and mouse, movie tickets provided by Moviefone, sneaker-shaped slippers and Valentino sunglasses. But, perhaps, the most intriguing gift is a three-night trip to Spain at a mountain hideaway far from the eyes of the paparazzi.
But before they can claim their gift bags, the stars have to be at the show to see who's on tap to bring home the Golden Popcorn at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. And you can watch all the action by tuning in to the show this Sunday, with Russell Brand hosting and featured performances by Fun., The Black Keys, Martin Solveig and Wiz Khalifa. It all goes down at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California at 9 p.m. ET.

Переслать - Five Reason To See 'Snow White And The Huntsman'
Put on your armor and take up your swords, fairy tale fans! "Snow White and the Huntsman" hits theaters today bringing you an edgy adaptation of the classic enchanting story.
In the film, Kristen Stewart plays the title character who gears up for battle against the evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron). With the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) and her childhood love William (Sam Claflin) at her side, she attempts to reclaim the kingdom that is rightfully hers.
For those of you who haven't already preordered tickets, here are five reasons to see "Snow White and the Huntsman."
Because It Turns A Classic Into An Epic
As kids, everyone remembers watching "The Lion King" or "Aladdin" while lying on bed sheets that display the characters' faces. The stories from our youth become so magical we believe wishing upon a star will make all of our dreams come true. As we grow older we become a little more realistic, but that magic never truly goes away. This adaptation grasps some of that mystical charm and turns it into an epic adventure. Sure it's more terrifying than what we're used to, but we grew up, and so did this princess.Because Charlize Theron Is Incredible
Theron reminded us just how good of an actress she is by taking on the role of Queen Ravenna. She simultaneously made us want to shove a sword into her heart and give her a big hug as we empathized with her character's backstory. Ravenna's mother put a spell on her so that when she consumed the souls of beautiful girls, she remained young. Her mother taught her that beauty was everything and if you don't retain your youthful appearance, men will toss you to the side as if you were nothing. Certain shots of Theron's pained facial expression or a pool of tears gathering in her crazed eyes helped us sympathize with her character—despite the fact that she was killing the female population and screaming until we were sure her head would explode.Because The Dwarves Add A Little Joy
Let us be clear, this is not "Mirror, Mirror." This is a dark tale with a slim chance of light at the end of the tunnel. The dwarves don't whistle while they work and at one point they even debate killing Snow and the Huntsman saying, "Skewer him, leave her to rot!" But with actors like Nick Frost, Ian McShane, Toby Jones and Bob Hoskins taking on the roles, we couldn't help but smile at some of their facial expressions—especially when one of them asked Snow for a dance. It was a scene that warmed the (mostly) cold movie.Because The Visuals Are Stunning
From King Magnus' castle to the Dark Forest to the land of the fairies, the sets and special effects left audiences breathless. But the best realm in the film was the fairyland. The adorable woodland creatures scurried about in a scene reminiscent of the 1937 Disney-animated classic. Mushrooms opened their eyes and birds carried naked sprites who scuttled along the trees to get a closer look at the princess. Trees waved in the breeze and bright, colorful flowers blossomed on the ground. And waiting for Snow across a pond was a great, white deer with massive antlers. A round of applause goes to the art director.Because Two Key Scenes Make The Adaptation Worth It
In order to avoid giving anything away, we're going to be vague. The first scene that made us want to give the screenwriters a high five was when the evil witch presents Snow with the poisonous apple. It was the perfect change to what we were expecting and shocked us with delight. The second was during the kiss of true love that brings Snow out of her deep slumber. The underlying love story was one of loyalty, friendship and hope that's shown through one simple, but story-changing peck.Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now!
